Refu seemed like an interesting kind of raptor. His species were quite unlike other birds of prey, looking like a mix between an eagle and a stork and all. "You wanted to meet me for a while?" Kion asked
"Oh yes, for a very long time now." Refu remarked. So do you know where your parents are, Kion?"
"They're inside Pride Rock." Kifaru pointed.
"Ah, excellent. Thank you so much, Kifaru."
"You know my name?"
"Of course, kiddo." said the secretary bird. "I hear a lot of names while flying around the Pride Lands. That, and Simba told me about the friends the family has, you included."
"Cool." said Kifaru.
"Refu," said Simba, coming out of Pride Rock with Nala. "Glad you can make it."
"Wouldn't have missed it for the better, my king." Refu remarked, sounding excited.
"Before you begin your new duty as the new majordomo, you have to do a pact for us."
"Got it."
The raptor went inside the cave with Kion and Kifaru following them. There was the group of lions in a circle and with the king, queen, princess, and prince on the "royal bed".
"Aren't you getting up here, Kion?" said Kiara
"Sure." the cub sat next to his big sister and Kovu on the the other side of him. Everyone was silent and Kifaru was sitting outside of the circle to witness what was going on. After a long ten seconds, Simba walked up to Refu and cleared his throat like he was ready to speak.
"Friends, family, we gather here today," Simba began speaking: "To induct Refu here, as our new majordomo for our royal family. However, you, Refu, have to swear your oath and allegiance to us as the new Majordomo and take your responsibilities as one and taking Zazu's place."
The secretary bird looked very confident and smiled. He was more than ready be the new Majordomo for the king and queen of the Pride Lands. He bowed and said: "Well, your highness, I will be more than happy to continue Zazu's legacy."
Simba let out a small chuckle, and said: "We know, but you need to swear an oath to us to make it official, Refu, Now then: Do you swear to take on your full responsibilities as the new Majordomo?"
"I swear." Refu fledged.
"And do you swear to serve us and be faithful to Kiara and Kovu when they become the new rulers of the Pride Lands, and when me and Nala stepped down from power?"
"I swear."
"And do you swear to help us and protect anyone who needs you, and never shirk and never abuse your power as the new Majordomo?"
Refu was silent, but he boldly repeated: "I swear, your majesty."
Simba and Nala smiled, and the queen said: "Then, it's official."
"Refu," Simba added. "Welcome aboard your new job."
"Thank you so much, your majesties." Refu sounded really grateful. "I promise I won't let you down."
"Good. We're glad to hear that." said Simba. "Of course you can still hunt, and drink water when needed. But if there is any suspicious activity, like animals causing trouble- Oh if the Lion Guard needs any help of course."
"Well, by how I've seen Kion and his friends fight off bad animals, I know they can handle themselves."
"We know." said Nala. "I mean like if they are unavailable or if they feel overpowered by something."
"Oh. Right." Refu said. "So what would you like me to do on the first day on the job, my liege?"
"Spread the word of your new position." Simba said flatly. "And after that, I'll let you know what else you can do eventually."
"Got it."
Kion might like this new bird that was filling in for the late Zazu. Refu seemed like a cool guy, and je seemed more formidable than Zazu, considering the fact that he was a bird of prey with his talons, sharp beak, and long legs for crushing his prey to feed off of.
As of now, Refu was telling the word about his new profession as Simba's new Majordomo. Many animals came to accept him, and a couple of them were rather skeptical about his new position.
Secretary birds have been known to eat prey ranging from many small animals like anything to do with mice, rats, birds smaller than them, bird eggs, lizards, mongoose, and their favorite food: snakes.
Hornbills like Zazu are omnivorous, but raptors like the Secretary bird are carnivorous.
Timon, in particular, was rather a little afraid of Refu because of some members of his meerkat family were eaten by raptors or other birds of prey. He wasn't as scared of them as hyenas, but still.
"Pumbaa, I don't know what to tell ya, pal. Did Simba make the right choice?"
"Come on, Timon." said the red warthog. "Refu seems like a nice guy."
"He's a raptor for lychee's sake! a raptor! they are carnivores, meaning: they only eat meat. Last thing I want is to be crushed to death by those stilts he calls legs."
You're being paranoid again." Pumbaa said. "If Simba trusts him, so can we. You gotta learn to lighten up. And you still think Hakuna Matata is a thing of the past?"
"Oh, let me think- Yes!" Timon sounded exasperated.
"No need to shout, I'm just trying to help out my best friend here."
the meerkat took a deep breath to calm down and said: "OK, ok. I thank you for trying to help me, Pumbaa. Maybe I am being a little paranoid here."
"Why not take a relaxing dip in the pool here? It always calms the senses."
"No argument." Timon smiled. "And besides, it's not like Simba, Nala, or anyone else is gonna let Refu eat me anyway.
"We can always count on good ole Simba."
"You are so right, Pumbaa. Alwys have faith in Simba."
"So you wanna look for some more Grub?"
"Totally."
