My brain isn't working very well, so I'm reduced to writing in 15-minute increments. What is a writer to do? Write LotR drabbles and short fics, of course! They vary slightly in length, but most are between 100 and 500 words, and all are family-friendly.

In the books there was a gap of many years between Bilbo's departure from the Shire and Gandalf's return, with the results of his research. Tolkien gives us only a brief overview of events in Frodo's life during that time, so I have decided to let my imagination fill in the details. Most of the characters, some of the events and all of the settings belong to JRR Tolkien.

And yet, as one brave young man will have to find out, not all the magic has disappeared.

Mirkwood is in a panic. Their only prince is missing, presumed dead, and they are losing hope. As time runs short for Legolas, Aragorn is determined to do anything to find his friend, even if that means enlisting the aid of the unsuspecting assassin who did the crime.

Legolas has a very different relationship with colors and their shades. Why do red and black make him wince? Why does yellow make him smile? Pippin is interested to know.

Memories of a mother gone too young, sea-longing, and thought of the inevitable parting from friends that he holds dear leaves Legolas hurting. He tries to hide it, putting on his warrior front, but this one time, under scrutiny of the Evenstar herself, it is too much.
