A/N: Hello and welcome! This is my first Supergirl fic so I'm hoping to capture the characters as best as I can. Enjoy!

All typos and grammatical errors that make it to posting are my fault so please excuse that.

"You can't just not have a bachelorette party, Alex! You're getting married!" Kara shouts, looking appalled by her sister even suggesting such a thing. The young reporter stood tall in her famed Supergirl stance which may have achieved the slightest bit of intimidation, if only she had been in her suit as opposed to a powder pink t-shirt displaying dancing cupcakes, skinny jeans and purple rainboots or talking to anyone but her no nonsense sister. Her hair was still pulled into the two haphazard pigtails Esme had finished only minutes previous and Alex was doing her best to keep a straight face at the sight.

"Exactly! I'm getting married and my sister should be celebrating with me." Is the rebuttal accompanied with an eye roll. Kelly and Esme patiently sit cuddled on the stairs in the command center of the tower watching the sisters verbally volley from either end of the table. Both content to watch them spar all the while knowing that Kara would likely get her way once she uses the pout that always works on her sister, especially with the pigtails that seemed to make her look at least 10 years younger.

"Alex, you and Kelly deserve this. I promise we'll celebrate together—just not tonight. You guys are going to go have a great night...aaaannd my niece and I are going to have our very own girl's night." The blonde states moving around the table toward her sister and pulling her into a lingering hug. Them melting into eachother content in their embrace. Glancing over Alex's shoulder, she catches her niece's eye and winks at her causing her to giggle into her mom's side. Giving one more squeeze both women pull back offering a soft smile. "Let me do this for you." Getting only a nod of agreement in return, Kara can't help but get excited about spending some quality time with Esme. Her enthusiasm causing her to hover just far enough of the floor that Alex has to push her back down. "Now, go. Get out of here. Esme, Lovey and I have plans." Gently pushing her sister toward Kelly, Kara hoists her niece into her arms barely managing to remain on the ground.

"Fine. You win, we're going." Alex grumbles as she and Kelly give their daughter a hug and kiss before leaving her for the night. "Kiddo, you're in charge. Make sure Auntie Kara doesn't eat too much junk before bed and stays out of trouble."

"Hey!" She shouted while trying and failing to look offended while both Kelly and Esme laughed. Her sister smirked and shrugged at her reaction which then turned into a laugh as the blonde petulantly stuck her tongue out in retaliation. The little family spent a few more minutes joking around before the brides-to-be left the two alone.

"Should we call to check on them? I think we should call." Alex asked anxiously for no less than the fourth time over the past two and half hours the group of friends had been celebrating. It's not that she didn't have complete faith in her sister to babysit but they were in the middle of dealing with Nyxly, not to mention Lex and anything could happen. The new mom just couldn't shake her nerves.

"I'm sure they're fine, Alex. Just enjoy your party. Go dance with Kelly before Lena steals her away from you." J'onn jokingly replies while pointing to the women having fun on the dance floor.

"I knew she was bi. Just friends with Andrea my ass." She grumbles under her breath as she made her way over to them nonetheless.

"Hey!" Comes a little shout accompanied with the stomp of a tiny foot. "That was my cookie! You ate all yours!"

"You already had five! Any more you'll get a tummy ache then Alex will all grumpy. It's probably best if I just eat the rest." Kara replies as she continues to snack on the cookies. The two of them had played board games, danced to music and flown around the tower in an aerial game of tag before making pizza and cookies to eat. The kitchen of the tower was rarely used by anyone other than J'onn, M'gann or Kelly but the ladies were more than pleased with how their food had turned out. But now as they stood at the kitchen island, Esme was less than impressed that her aunt was eating all of their dessert.

"If I can't have anymore then you shouldn't either. Mama said you couldn't have too much junk and you've had alooot." Bluish-grey eyes stare into joyful blues almost daring the woman to go against the word of her mama.

"Yea, you're probably right. I've had enough...but I'm stopping because I want to not because Alex said so." That innocent face looks at her until they're both wearing a knowing smirk. Working together they get all the food put away and clean up after themselves then head back into the command center. "So...Little One, what should we do now? Maybe we should head home it's getting a bit late." She states looking at her watch, realizing four hours have passed.

"Ooh! We can build a fort in the livingroom and watch Disney movies! I like to sing the songs!"

"I loove Disney and I love forts. Sounds like a great idea t—" It's the blinking red security warning on the screens behind Esme that catches Kara's attention midsentence and what has her pulling out her phone to call Alex while trying to figure out what the problem is. As the call fails to connect for the third time, she knows her first priority is to get her niece to safety before she does anything else.

"Auntie Kara, what's wrong?" The fear in that little voice has her grabbing the little girl and speeding toward the panic room hidden on the upper most floor of the building—separate to the main security systems and of the most advanced Kryptonian and Kree technology.

"I don't know but I'm going to find out." Within seconds, Kara has Esme and Lovey settled into the room that closely resembles a studio apartment. Kneeling down, she pulls the girl into her arms, offering as much comfort as she can in the moment. "You'll be safe here. No one is opening this door but me or your moms. One of us will come get you as soon as it's safe. Ok?" Getting only a nod in return, she leaves a kiss on her head before standing and moving to the door. Just before she steps out, she hits the red silent alarm button not knowing that neither J'onn nor Alex would receive it then turns to look at her niece once more. "I love you and I'll protect you." As soon as the door slides closed behind her and the hidden wall is back in place, her super-hearing picks up on two heartbeats and a very familiar voice.

"Lena's not here if that's who you're looking for." Supergirl states as she comes to a stop in the middle of the large circular room. Standing firm and to defend against whatever he threw her way.

"I have no interest in my sister at the moment but I'm sure she'll prove herself useful soon enough." Lex replies with a condescending smirk. "I'm actually here because you have something that my Nyxly needs. So, you can hand over all the totems or I can finally kill you and take them." Smirk shifting to hateful glare, he raises his right arm sheathed in a black gauntlet to aim at the symbol on her chest.

"I'm not giving you anything."

"I was hoping you would say that." Comes his reply as the full Lexo-suit forms around him in barely enough time to absorb a punch from the Kryptonian. Kara makes easy work of fighting Lex and destroying the tower in the process until she's blasted from behind. The force of which sends her through the closed elevator into the weapons room on the other side. "Thank you, darling."

"Oh, do shut up. I can't find the girl."

"And you never will." Kara states as she hits the imp with beams of the phantom zone projector, sending her back to where she belonged.

"Noooo!" For a split second, she felt bad for him as she heard the hurt in his voice but before she could dwell on it he returns fire—blasting the weapon from her hands, breaking it then started the fight once again with renewed vengeance. Wrapped up in eachother, trading punches, they blow through the ceiling into the command center. "Mother should've killed you when she had the chance. I should've killed you, your cousin, his kids and every other Kryptonian years ago instead of playing these foolish games! Jeremiah wasn't enough!" He rants and swings fiercely.

"W-what?" Momentarily stunned by the mention of her foster father, he lands a hit that sends her through the wall of monitors. She's surprised both by what she heard and that she actually felt that harsh punch but the all too familiar weakness means there was kryptonite involved.

"Oh, you didn't know I had daddy Danvers killed by that stupidly gullible Tessmacher. Stupid woman killed an innocent man and had no clue. No matter, I'll do this one myself." Shakily righting herself, the hero comes face to face with a gun. Having retracted his suit, Lex doesn't try to fight the smug look forming on his face. His eyes twinkling as if he's won. "Goodbye Supergirl." He gets off two shots but he's not prepared for the excruciating pain of her laser vision burning through his flesh that brings him to his knees and into the darkness of unconsciousness. His right arm laying severed beside him.

For several seconds, she stands looking down at herself as she tries to stem the bleeding from her chest until pain and weakness take her to her knees as well. The feeling of kryptonite burning through her system was one she's experienced several times but being shot multiple times is unlike anything she'd every been through. Blood was running thickly through her fingers and she didn't need a medical degree to know the bullets had damaged important organs. It was getting harder to breathe with each passing second and she could feel her heart rate slowing as pools under her.

"Aaa-lex." Calling for her sister comes so naturally, she doesn't realize she's done it. The tower is a mess and she has no idea where her phone is or if she would even be able to call out if she did but her eyes scan for it anyway.

"Something's wrong, I just know it is! I can feel it. Like...like a deep ache" Alex starts again even more agitated than any time before. Pushing her way out of the bar with Kelly, J'onn and M'gann on her heels. Not wanting to voice that that feeling is one she's felt at least five times in the last six years and always meant her sister needed her.

"Alex -" J'onn tries halting her but she's having none of it.

"NO! I know...I know." She pleads with her hand over her heart as her eyes bounces between each of them before settling on her fiancee, who nods her support and grabs ahold of her free hand. "So we...we're going—you're free to do whatever you want."

"Ok...ok. Let's go." Both Martians grab a bride, swiftly taking to the air in the direction of the tower silently praying that Alex was wrong. Before they set foot on the balcony, they know something is very wrong.

"KARA! ESME!" Alex shouts as soon as her feet touch down then she's running into the tower only to come face to face with the carnage laid before her and her sister helplessly bleeding out in the midst of it all. "Oh my god, Kara!" She wastes no time getting to the younger woman's side—assessing her injuries as soon as her knees hit the floor.

"Al..al-lex, she's ok. I made sure she was ok...sshh-she's in the panic ro-oom." Kara slurs out in an effort to reassure her sister as she relaxes into the comfort of having Alex with her.

"I know, I know. I got you. You're gonna be ok. I'm here." Her response is automatic. Falling into the commanding doctor persona to save the injured hero is second nature and she directs J'onn to move Kara to the medbay, Kelly to get Esme and M'gann to deal with Lex as effortlessly as she's ever had. Being Director Danvers in the moment is what allows her to block out her sisters face as she rushes to expertly remove the fragmented kryptonite bullets while Kara's vitals continue to decline. But that mask crumbles the instant the heart monitor flatlines. "No, no, no, no. Kara! Don't you dare do this to me. Don't you DARE!" Trembling hands and frantic eyes double check that all signs of the toxic element had been removed, that the solar lamps were on full blast and every drug she had personally created was pushed into the fallen hero's system only to sink further into despair as the monotone alarm continues to sound. "P-please. I should've come sooner. I knew...I knew. Kara, please don't leave me—I c-c-can't do this without y-you...Please." Head buried into her sister's stomach, she openly falls apart, ignorant to the audience that had formed just outside of the medbay and specifically to the little girl stood at her hip.

"Mama, I can do it."

"Huh? W-wha...do what? You shouldn't be in here, kiddo."

"But look...I'm doing it like the nurse lady showed me." The question growing on her tongue dies off when a pulsing pinkish light flows from Esme's hand into the flesh of Kara's shoulder it's resting upon—taking Alex completely by surprise. "Auntie should be fine now." Her little voice states confidently after several seconds.

"What? What just...what was that?" Alex is beyond confused and she's sure her frazzled nerves can't take much else.

"My healing power. I accidently got it from a nice nurse lady a long time ago and it never went away." She shrugs at the end of her answer and her mom is left speechless along with everyone else that's witness the display. The stunned silence is harshly broken by Kara's sudden deep inhalation—startling everyone.

"Kar? Can you hear me? Breathe slowly, you're ok. You're ok." She reassures despite not at all understanding what just happened but immensely grateful that it did—never wanting to live in a world where her sister no longer existed.

"I know...I heard...thanks to you and Esme. You're quite the team." Mother and daughter latch onto her prone figure, Alex losing herself in her emotions. Kelly moves beside the bed, placing gentle kisses on the heads of her three favorite girls in silent gratitude to help calm her own frayed nerves.

When everyone has hugged and gathered their emotions, Kara get a complete work up while retelling the night's events before she's herded home along side Alex, Kelly and Esme—who aren't willing to let her out of their sight. J'onn and Lena assures them that Lex will be dealt with and they know better than to ask too many questions but also have no doubt Alex will soon become his worst nightmare once her emotions have settled into burning rage. It takes Kelly an hour to convince her fiancee into bed after letting her stand guard as her two favorite alien girls slept cuddled together in the little girl's room and if she's being honest with herself she needed that time as well. Slender chocolate arms sliding around her gives her permission to let go once more and that's exactly what Alex does—falling headlong into feelings of fear and grief.

"S-she died on me a-a-again. She was g-gone." Her eyes filling again, Kelly can only hold on tighter. "I need my s-sis-ter. I need you, her, our kid and my mom. She can't just leave. I just got her b-back." Tears fall unchecked as the woman in her embrace talks out her pain.

"Baby, she's ok. They both are and we're both going to continue to fight like hell to keep this family whole and safe. But right now, I've got you."
