Sunday came and I decided to procrastinate my visit to Port Angeles to the following weekend.

Not because I was lazy, mind you… okay that might have been one of the reasons, but I just wanted to relax a bit too… and catch up on some school work also.

And so, my weekend went well without too much drama, even with Bella around.

She'd mostly stayed to herself and I preferred it that way. No fighting this way.

And as I parked my car in the school lot Monday morning, waving at people who greeted me with smiles, I realized it was easy to integrate myself pretty quickly in Forks High, or rather Forks in general.

The weather was also super cold this morning to be honest.

Even with the blue jeans, cream wooly sweater and blue jean jacket I wore, the cold still managed to slightly seep in and so I wrapped my arms around myself as I rushed into the school building for my English class, waving back at people who greeted me.

Ah… the pros and cons of being a new student. You had the eyes of people following you left and right.

I quickly settled down in my seat by the window as Mr. Mason walked into class.

"Okay everyone! I hope you're all ready for the pop quiz!"

More than half the class groaned and I snickered.

"No, no, no! I did mention this last week! Therefore no excuses will be listened to! Even if you were in the emergency ward all weekend struggling with a death defying sickness."

A student behind me sighed and mumbled.

"T'was worth a try."

The pop quiz in itself was pretty easy to answer. Especially since it was on Wuthering Heights and it was something I'd already gone through back in Arizona.

The bell rang and we all gathered our things for our next class.

As I walked out of the class, I heard the excited chatters of students and focused more on my surroundings.

A big grin filtered across my face.

The air was filled with white fluttering everywhere.

It was snowing!

The air was slightly chilly but it was actually snowing!

It certainly brought back memories of when I used to visit dad here in Forks and excitedly waited for the snow and when it came, ran around building snowmen and making angel wings!

"So you like the snow?"

A voice cut into my musings and I turned to see an eagerly smiling Mike whose hair was slightly wet and dripping.

Definitely from a snow fight.

"Yeah! Who doesn't?"

I scoffed and he grinned.

"Your sister? She looked… creeped out."

I shrugged. Not a new story. Snow wasn't something she liked, especially with her clumsiness.

"What's with the wet hair?"

I gestured at his head.

"Eric thought it would be a 'great' idea to cross me. Speaking of, did you see him pass by here?"

I chuckled, shaking my head and he sighed.

"Ah well, another time. You heading to class?"

He asked, suddenly eager again and a feeling of amusement passed through me again as I nodded and he beamed.

"Great! Well, let's get going! Miss Graham doesn't like it when we're too late for class."

"Oh, 'too'?"

"We can stretch the rules a bit."

"Ah…"

The snow certainly made Forks High more lively than usual, it being the first snow of the New Year apparently.

It had coated the ground with it's whiteness and majority of he students were now spotting red noses all around, including myself and Bella.

As I walked into the cafeteria for lunch with Angela who was quietly chattering about some poor unfortunate girl who'd slipped earlier while wearing super tight jeans which ripped right in front of a bunch of students, my eyes subconsciously sorted out the Cullens.

It was a slightly normal occurrence now, though I was sure I'd get over it soon enough.

They were beautiful and obviously stood out compared to the other students, but I still found them odd, no matter what.

And behold, I counted 5 of them, not 4.

Angela noticed where my attention was when I sat down and gushed.

"Yeah! He's back! Apparently I heard he was sick or something?"

I looked at the 'recovered Cullen'.

"Didn't look sick when I last saw him… though I'm pretty sure he creeped out my sister last time."

Angela looked surprised but before she could ask, the table was filled up.

"Hey ladies!"

Mike greeted as he sat down with a grin, Jessica and Bella doing the same, though Bella only had a bottle of soda in her hand while the rest of the table had plates of food in their fronts.

Also, I noticed Bella seemed paler than normal which was alarming seeing as she looked like a part-time ghost most of the time.

I opened my mouth to ask her if she was good, but then closed it again.

There was no need for drama at the moment.

And so, I turned to Angela, asking her about what she did during the weekends around town.

As we discussed, I heard Jessica talk to Bella.

"What are you staring at Bella?"

I turned to both just in time to see my sister drop her head down from where she had been staring.

And so, I turned to the destination and saw it had been the Cullen table.

The 5 seemed to have been enjoying the snowy day too, and Edward made eye contact with me, a curious look on his face which I returned back.

Seriously, something about his gaze just seemed off about him… about all his siblings. They were always so intense, and though I prided myself a proud and strong lady, I looked away after a few seconds to see Jessica staring at me in awe.

"I can't believe you just maintained eye contact with Edward Cullen!"

She giggled into her hands, Bella looking up at me with something in her eyes.

Oh that was definitely Jealousy.

Still couldn't believe Isabella was capable of crushing on someone!

Especially on a pretty boy!

"How did it feel?"

Angela whispered with a grin and I rolled my eyes though a smile threatened to burst through my lips.

"I dunno… it was like staring at a scary, popular senior."

Which was honestly how it had felt.

Jessica nodded her head a couple of times before her eyes seemed to turn to the Cullen table again and she eeped, looking away.

"Quick! He's staring at our table!"

Immediately she said that, Angela and Bella turned in his direction and immediately hid their faces in their hair and I didn't bother to look, knowing he was actually staring.

Seriously!

What was so special about the table!...

Or who was he curious about?

Just then, Mine jogged back to our table, an excited grin on his face.

"Hey ladies, who's up for an enormous battle of the blizzard after school??"

Angela and Jessica immediately gushed about it and even I got excited.

It had been a while since I had played in the snow.

"I'm up for it, too."

I raised my hand with a huge smile and Mike grinned excitedly, though Bella pretended she heard none of the conversations going on around the table, her eyes occasionally peeking right at the bronze haired Cullen.

And after a while, I ignored her and her steadily rising creepy character, loosing myself in the conversation my new friends were having.

Soon after, Lunch was over and we all stood up to get to class. Jessica wasn't in biology with us and so parted ways, but as soon as we were out the building, a small whine escaped Mike's lips as well as some groans from students.

Even I was a bit disappointed.

It was raining.

And said rain was washing away all traces of the snow.

I sighed.

"Ah well… you just can't have it all."

I said as I continued walking, though disappointed, to biology class.

"It's disappointing though."

Angela said, a bit more quietly, next to me and I couldn't deny it.

"Well, this might be the first snow, but it doesn't mean it's going to be that way for long."

Then I perked up in thought.

"Hey! This way we could check out the beach? I haven't been at the First Beach in a while."

Angela smiled at such a thought and next to us, Mike seemed to smile excitedly at such a thought, seemingly beginning to plan something in his mind.

We walked into the class and immediately sat down where I had been assigned previously, next to my partner for the year it would seem.

He was a quiet and nerdy guy, like Angela but worse as he had never said anything to me the first time.

He had black hair swept over an eye and grey eyes. A couple of acnes on his face but not enough to look bad.

He seemed to doodle in his sketchpad and by his side was a skateboard which I brightened up at.

"Oh wow, that's a cool skateboard! Did you get it customized?"

I questioned as I stared at it.

It was painted black with a large skull at the middle, a giant chain wrapped loosely around it.

It was a bit old but not faded.

His eyes widened as he stared at me and he stopped doodling on his pad.

"Um… yeah… yes. I mean, no. My brother owned it before he left to join the Army."

I nodded.

"That's cool. I have one myself. Didn't think there was a skate park in town."

I mumbled to myself.

"It's a bit old but some do frequent it every once in a while."

He admitted quietly and I nodded.

"Maybe you could show me the place some other time."

His eyes seemed to widen for a moment and then he looked away, moving to doodle on his pad again.

See?

Absolutely difficult to talk to!

But I wasn't going to give up.

He was my lab partner for the year, if I wanted to get good grades then I definitely had to click with him… though I still didn't have a name.

"I'm Gabriella Swan, by the way, but people call m Gabby. What's yours?"

He looked up again and back to his book.

"Matthew Clarence."

I grinned.

"Nice to meet you Matt!"

He paused for a second, probably at the way I seemed to shorten his name but I paid him no heed as I began bringing out my books and stationery, and after a moment, he seemed to hesitate before going back to his work.

I grinned.

Good job Gabby… making friend even with the difficult sorts… though I don't think he even sees me as one yet.

He seems super shy and withdrawn.

She knew people like that back in Arizona and they tended to be bullied.

But, it seemed Forks High was just too small for bullying to actively happen.

Maybe there'd be the occasional name calling and back talking, but with how small the school was, nothing beyond that could happen.

"Okay class! Today, you'll be working with your lab partners to separate the slides of onion root tip cells into the phases of mitosis they represented and label them accordingly."

Mr. Banner said immediately after he walked into the class and as I moved to open my textbook, my lab partner quickly doing the same, he stops us.

"No! You are not to use your textbooks!"

Some groans were heard around class and even my partner let out a small sigh.

"You have twenty minutes to complete this and it's going to be a part of your grades, so I want to see you all putting heads together and making team decisions!"

He gave us the 'I'm watching you' sign.

"Alright, get to work!"

As soon as he said that, I immediately grabbed my pen and book as I turned to my partner.

"So, want to start Matt?"

He seemed to blush for a moment and slowly move the microscope closer to himself, placing a slide and moving to stare into the microscope.

For a moment, he seemed to struggle and he sighed, pushing it away.

"I'm not really good at science and stuff."

He admitted with an embarrassed look.

"Metaphase or prophase? I don't know."

He said and I nodded, drawing the microscope to myself, peeking into it for what was like a millisecond and moving back with a grin.

"You were actually close. It is prophase."

He let out a sigh of relief as we both wrote our answers down and a look of respect appeared on his face.

"How'd you know that so quickly?"

I shrugged, a smug feeling growing in me.

"Well, apart from the whole skipping a grade thing, my former school was a bit more advanced than Forks High, seeing as we had more aid from not just the government, but rich parents as well."

I looked into the microscope since it was my turn and looked away as I saw the sister chromatids moving to opposite poles.

"Anaphase."

I wrote down, prompting him to write it down as he glanced cursorily at me.

"That was fast."

"Want to check?"

I playfully nudged and he snorted.

"Nah. I'll take your word for it."

A small grin appeared on my face as I realized the more we talked, the more he seemed to step out of his shell.

So, maybe he wasn't the shy type.

Maybe he was just the type who generally didn't like to talk much and preferred to be on his own.

Judging from the little things she'd seen, he was a skater dude who loved to draw maybe? And also possibly game, from the videogame shirt he had on and his backpack too.

"Want to check the third one?"

I moved the microscope to him and he hesitated.

"I don't know, you seem to be our ace in this one. And we're sort of already 5 minutes into the 20 minutes, which I can attest to that being my fault."

I shook my head.

"We still have time. The table next to us is still struggling with slide two and we're entering the third one already."

He didn't seem convinced and I was curious why he was that way.

"Just give it a try?"

He sighed, nodding as he placed the third slide, even as the teacher passed our table for a moment and moved on.

Matt frowned for a bit, turning the slide a couple of times and sighing, shaking his head.

"Definitely don't know this one. It's all jumbled up and all."

I moved the microscope to myself and peeked, stifling a laugh as I looked up at him and grinned.

"I get why you said that. This is Interphase."

He nodded as he moved to write it down like I did.

I noticed how his writing seems slow and his words seemed a bit separated yet not.

He noticed me looking and shrugged.

"Dyslexic."

I nodded.

"Ah… explains it. Well, can I check the last two?"

He shrugged and I went for it.

"The fourth one's Metaphase and the fifth is Prometaphase."

He nodded a thanks as he wrote it down and the teacher suddenly stopped at Bella's table, and I suddenly realized she was sitting with the bronze haired fellow.

Funnily enough there didn't seem to be any bad blood between them, even as the teacher frowned at both already finishing their work.

He then turned to me when Bella had admitted to having done something similar already back in Arizona and I nodded at him.

A small sigh escaped his lips as he took our papers and I grinned, turning to Matt and raising a hand.

"We did it!"

I cheered and he looked confused, making me roll my eyes.

"Come on dude, I know you know what an high-five is!"

A small twitch of his lips made me know he found humor in that and eventually have me the high five, even as some stared jealously at the four of us already done with our slides.

Well, too bad you don't have more advanced partners!

Or, in Bella's case, a partner who seemed to have gone through this like she had too.

Edward Cullen was bent over the table, a respectable distance from Bella but not enough to warrant belief that he had something against her.

Not like the previous week.

Also, they seemed to be talking… which honestly surprised me!

He had seemed so cold to her before!

Maybe Jessica and Angela had been right and he had been sick? Maybe it had made him irritated and that had been the end result.

Storming out of class and leaving Bella teary eyed.

I heard a small scuffle next to me and saw my partner already back to doodling and I decided not to push my luck for the day.

We had become acquaintances of sorts which was better than strangers.

We knew each other's names and we had some similar hobbies too, like skating!

That was more than enough!

Soon enough the twenty minutes was elongated to thirty due to some groaning and pleading and then class was soon over.

I exchanged a small wave to my partner and walked out of class, looking forward to my last class of the day which was gym.

Nothing crazy happened and it was finally time to head home.

As I moved towards my car, wishing to rush in and luck it as well as turn on the heater, I spotted the two older Cullen kids staring at my car, a slightly admiring look on the blonde girl's face.

I think her name was Rosalie or something?

A grin grew across my lips but I quickly squashed it down as I reached my car and entered.

The rain had thankfully stopped though now everywhere was all misty and slightly chilly as well.

Forks' weather really was a weird phenomenon to me.

It would take some getting used to again but it wasn't too bad, I just needed to find a way to tan more naturally. At least I wasn't pale like Bella, only olive toned after a while with no sun.

Waving to Angela and Mike who both spotted me as I drove off, I was soon out and about on the streets of Forks.

As I sat by my computer that evening, I typed away at the name of the ballet studio in Port Angeles.

They were a couple of dance schools listed in Port Angeles alone.

2 out of 3 to be precise caught my eyes.

Studio180.

Nutcracker Dance Centre.

Studio180 seemed much more developed and had been in existence since 1968. The director was a retired lady with awards of her own and still kept in touch with the ballet industry.

As for the second studio, it had been in existence since 1992, a bit new but people who commented below the page spoke only positive remarks on it. And just like the first studio, the director was also a well decorated former ballet dancer.

I had to check both over the weekend.

No more procrastinating. Besides, it'll keep me slightly more busy in Forks.

There wasn't much I could do at the moment… maybe find the skating park in town and make use of it.

Hangout with Jacob, Quil and Embry too. I'd missed those three idiots.

And then there was also Angela.

She seemed nice and sweet and the few days of knowing her made me feel I would gain a fast friend soon enough.

As for Jessica… well, she wasn't that bad… nor was Mike or even Eric.

There were a number of things I could do and people to hangout with… I wouldn't be too bored here in town… hopefully…

Dad was at the station.

Late night or something like that, apparently there was a missing person report over the town next to us and they had asked for a search in town just in case.

Bella was in her room, her change in attitude absolutely shocking especially since it had to do with a BOY.

It definitely still surprised me that Bella… shy, awkward Bella Swan seemed to be interested in an actual boy and not one from her precious novels like the famed Romeo.

Oh well… it happens for everyone, I guess.
