Saturday arrived and the skies were cloudy, signaling it was going to rain soon.

Hopefully not. Sometimes the weather really could be deceiving around here.

I looked into dad's room to see he wasn't in again.

He probably came home late, slept for a few hours and then went straight to work again.

That's it. I'll head over to his workplace during lunch… but only after I was through with my Ballet practice of course.

I quickly had my bath, changing into my stretchy outfit, shouting out to Bella I was leaving, and then was out the door.

This time, I practiced from 11 to 1pm.

Sadly I didn't catch Kim as she probably would arrive later. On Saturdays, the practice time were more flexible and she probably wanted to sleep in or maybe even spend time with Jared.

I wonder if I've seen him before.

Maybe when I still used to come around for holidays with Bella.

We used to hang around the beach after all, and the La Push kids mainly situated themselves around there.

After I was done, I stopped at a deli shop that seemed to be recently opened.

I bought some food for dad and myself so we could eat together and drove back to Forks.

I knew dad wouldn't have eaten. He ate usually by 6-7am, 2pm and then dinner. Only changing it occasionally.

I chose burgers, chicken wings and fries. I also got a bottle of chilled Pepsi for myself. Dad probably stacked his place with bottled waters and beers so there was no need for me to get that.

It wasn't like I'd be able to get it for him anyways.

I packed my car as soon as I got to the station, spotting a couple of cop cars here and there and I walked in with the bags.

I found myself in an open office setting of some kind.

Cops of both gender sat or moved around and on the left, I saw an open door and heard a bark.

Oh yeah. They had police dogs.

A female cop in her late 20s or so noticed me and walked over.

She had dark caramel skin and a pretty face.

"Hello there. Anything I can help you with?"

I smiled.

"Ah yes please. I'm looking for my dad, Charlie Swan."

Her eyes immediately lit up as she stared at me.

"Oh! You're Charlie's daughter?"

As soon as she said that, some cops looked up interestedly.

"Charlie's daughter?"

"Charlie's daughter's here?"

"That's the chief's daughter??"

I fought down a blush that threatened to spread across my cheek.

Normally I'd take it in stride, but these were freaking cops!

All staring at me like a different creature and the beautiful cop rolled her eyes.

"Alright. Stop bugging her or Charlie will force more work on you."

"True."

A blonde haired, blue eyed male cop that looked in his early 30s said with a smile before grinning at me.

"If I bribed you, do you think you'd be able to convince your dad to cut down on the work load?... So I could spend some time with the wife of course."

He playfully winked and as I opened my mouth to reply, I heard a surprised and familiar voice.

"Gabby! What are you doing here?"

I turned to my dad who had come out through a door and a sly smile appeared on my face as I looked at him bashfully.

"It was horrible chief. I slapped this old lady and stole her purse. I brought myself to the station immediately of course."

Dad's unimpressed look made me burst out into laughter, some of the cops snickering as well as the blonde spoke again.

"Gee chief, I thought no one in your family knew jokes except perhaps for your usual dad ones?"

I grinned.

"You should meet my elder sister Bella. She's his total carbon copy."

Dad walked over trying to look stern though a smile was on his face.

"Yes well, walk away Grant, or I'll give you more work to do."

He waved the cop off who looked at me with a 'see what I'm saying?' as he walked off and dad nodded to the beautiful cop which I still didn't know the name of.

"Thanks Johnson. I'll take it from here."

He nodded at her and she gave me a small nod as she walked off.

"Nice to meet you Gabby."

"You too, officer Johnson!"

I threw back and turned to dad who had a curious look on his face as he stared down at the two bags in my hand.

"What's all this?"

I smirked.

"Well, seeing as I'm your favorite daughter, I decided to bring treats for you."

His eyes became suspiciously bright as he side hugged me in an awkward but still familiar way.

In that moment, I knew that my father had indeed felt lonely here in Forks all this while and had been pretending he hadn't minded us not coming to stay with him.

He must have been super ecstatic to have us over with him.

A warm feeling spread in my heart at that and I immediately promised deep down to make sure dad never felt that way again.

Even though he didn't remarry, I'd make sure to always be around. Even when I was through with school and moved elsewhere. I would still try to visit, no matter how far away I was from him.

"Thanks Gabs. What's in it?"

I handed him one bag and he peered into it.

"Some burgers, fries and wings from this relatively new deli place in Port Angeles. I know you have some beer here so I couldn't get you one."

"Or you knew you wouldn't be able to get them at your age."

I playfully huffed before I remembered something.

"Oh! Here, grab this dad. Be right back!"

I handed him the second bag before rushing out the door and towards my car, bringing out the box of 24 donut confectioneries with different styles and desserts on them.

With a smile, I walked back into the station.

Was this a ploy to make the cops love me more, just in case I broke a rule or two around town?

Yes.

Yes it was.

Also I wanted them to like me too.

My dad's eyes widened when he spotted the box.

I understood.

These things were quite the money, if I do say so myself.

My beautiful savings had been through a lot ever since I got to Forks. I should probably fight for an allowance increase from mom and dad.

"I also got this for everyone, if they don't mind?"

My dad gave me a warm smile.

"Mind? I can guarantee they won't mind when they know just which shop it came from. Honestly, she sells the best donuts in Port Angeles and Forks combined."

"Not La Push?"

Charlie shrugged.

"The Quileutes have mastered their thing for a long, long time. Makes it more homemade. You can't beat homemade, I guarantee you that."

I nodded as my dad cleared his throat.

"Listen up! My daughter brought donuts from Port Angeles! Make sure you leave one for me or more work for you!"

I heard whoops of joy and I grinned as cops stopped by to thank me as they took the box from my hand, some claiming I was the best thing that probably came out from Charlie, which I found hilarious, especially when dad started to stutter.

"Come on chief, show me your office."

He sighed before walking towards a door with the chief badge sign on it.

The wall next to it was made of glass but there were blinds for when the chief needed his privacy which was cool.

The inside was a bit large but comfy.

Files here and there, a little radio sat on his table and at the corner end of the office, opposite his table and chair and high up, was a small but functional TV which was on a news station at the moment.

On the walls were different posters, from one telling you to join the police force and what a noble career it was, to another detailing the police force and so on.

On his desk was a small but workable computer and more files and books and opposite that, by the glass wall with the blinds, was a dark leather triple seater which I immediately flopped into with a sigh.

"Ahhh… ballet can be tiring sometimes."

He hummed as he dragged a small stool over and sat next to me, placing the bags on it.

"Why are you still doing it then?"

I shrugged.

"Because I like it chief. It keeps me calm and makes me happy. No matter how my feet may hurt at the end of the day… I just can't seem to dislike it."

Dad smiled as he brought out the food and passed me my canned drink which I opened and eagerly sipped from.

"I can assure you I never expected one of my blood to be dancing something as delicate as ballet. Thought I'd ruined the chances for you two when it came to sports and the like."

I snickered.

"Well, poor Bella for that. As for me… I fought tooth and nail against that part of your blood. Now if I could just get the genetics that gave you a badass moustache, then I'd be fine."

Charlie rolled his eyes as he savored the burger in his mouth.

"I think you'd scream bloody murder if you woke up one morning to a moustache on your face."

I giggled as I popped a fry into my mouth.

"True. But I'd make Jacob, Quil and Embry absolutely jealous!"

Charlie perked up at that.

"Oh yes! I remember how friendly you were with them back in the day. Glad you're still hanging out with them. Billy was super glad. Harry is jealous though."

"Doesn't he have a son named Seth?"

"Oh, you remember?"

"Yeah. The boys and I were discussing him and his sister."

Charlie hummed.

"He's 13 right now. His sister Leah is 19."

I nodded.

"So, dad… there's a spring dance coming up soon at school."

A look of surprise and wariness appeared on his face and I fought down a cackle.

Dad really had no idea what to do when it came to girl talks and stuff like that.

"… Oh… that's, nice."

I snorted.

"Nice? That's all you have to say daddy-o?"

Charlie huffed.

"Fine. What do I have to do with this… conversation?"

I shook my head amused.

"I'm just mentioning it in case I end up asking someone and—"

"Asking someone?"

He frowned.

"Yeah. It's a girl's choice. But that is besides the point…"

"Not for me…"

He mumbled but I ignored it.

"I don't know what the theme's going to be so I'm just mentioning it now. Your beautiful and amazing daughter might need some extra allowance to get something nice for herself."

I gave him my puppy dog eyes which I knew always made him melt.

Bella and I had his eyes which he got from his mom, but my eyes apparently resembled Nana Marie's even more with how a shade lighter it was.

"Hmf! Fine… I'll discuss it with your mother. But please don't go to those expensive stores. And you'll have to use some part of your money too, you know?"

I grunted.

"Yeah, yeah. I know that. Besides, there's still prom as well."

I heard a groan come from him and I giggled.

Teasing my father was a lot of fun!

The end of February began looming nearer and Forks' rain became shorter and less heavy as well.

The spring dance was also what everyone people began talking about as girls asked their preferred partners to accompany them.

I definitely began to notice some divisions amongst my friend group, as Mike took to paying me more attention than usual and Jessica having a slightly jealous look as the days went by.

Angela seemed intent to ask Ben who always carried an hopeful look on his face whenever said girl was nearby.

As we settled for lunch that day, Mike brought up a trip he was planning.

"So who's up for a beach trip the first Saturday of March?"

He asked eagerly and I brightened up.

"Really?? Which beach?"

"La Push beach. You up for it?"

I smiled eagerly at that.

"Oh definitely! I have some friends down at the reservation. It'd be cool to see them again."

Mike frowned a bit.

"Friends?"

"Yeah, I thought you just moved here."

Jessica spoke up, cutting into the conversation as a way to make Mike notice her. It was a bit sad but… a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

"Oh we sort of grew up together so it's kinda hard not to know them. Maybe I'll run into them there…"

I mainly said to myself.

Maybe I could even inform them I'd be at the beach too. It'll probably be fun to have them there as well.

"Oh, you have something in your hair."

Mike said, moving to pluck something from my hair, moving a bit too close which made me back off a bit subconsciously.

He smiled victoriously as he removed it, and I noticed his cheeks were a bit red.

From my side, I noticed Jessica's hands were a bit too red from squeezing at the table and I knew I had to do something fast or I would inadvertently be destroying a snail moving friendship.

A sigh escaped me as my sister walked over, a frown on her face as she looked over at the Cullen table.

She was honestly obsessed if I was being honest.

Also, I really needed to ask someone else to the dance…

Okay…

Who did I have?

The La Push boys couldn't come for the spring dance, unlike the Prom dance which you could invite anyone.

But knowing those three, they'd probably embarrass me, so… no to future prom dates from that trio.

There was Matt though… no one had asked him and he didn't seem the least bit offended.

Hmmm…

Perhaps… hm, yes.

"La Push, baby. You in?"

Eric spoke up as Bella walked over, dropping her bag and stealing a piece of cucumber from my plate which I deftly ignored.

"Um, Should I know what that means?"

She asked confused and I rolled my eyes speaking up.

"Don't tell me you've forgotten the beach we used to go to with dad and his friends back when we still used to come over."

Bella frowned for a moment before a look of clarity appeared on her face.

"Ah…"

She said a bit awkwardly and Mike spoke up.

"Down on the Quileute rez. We're all going after school next week Saturday. Big swell coming in."

As soon as he said that, Eric stood on his seat in a surfer's stance dramatically.

"And I don't just surf the internet."

Jessica snorted, a snarky look on her face as she looked everywhere but at me.

"Eric, you stood up once. On a foam board."

Tyler snickered as he dragged Eric down to his seat, said boy throwing Jessica a dirty look which she ignored.

Angela spoke up, looking at my sister.

""There's whale watching too if you don't want to surf. Come with. It'll be fun. Gabby's coming too."

"La Push, baby."

Eric said again and Mike slapped him over the head.

Bella seemed to stare forlornly at the Cullen table for what seemed like the hundredth time that day and then spoke up.

"Okay, I'll go if you stop saying that."

Mike and Tyler snickered and Bella went to grab herself lunch.

When she got back, everyone shifted to give her space and I felt Mike was honestly a bit too mushed up next to me.

I could feel the glare coming from Jessica and I knew I had to deal with things. Fast.

After lunch was biology and I quickly rushed off before Mike could decide to follow me, and when I sat down next to my lab partner, I sighed in utter relief.

He looked up from his drawing with a curious look on his face.

"You look nice."

He said, looking back at his drawing and I gave him a look.

Perhaps I had been too nice with him.

Look at him, all snarky now and throwing backward insults at me, the ass.

"Gee, thanks for the observation, captain obvious."

He snorted but said nothing and then an innocent grin appeared on my face as I stared at him.

He said nothing, but I knew he could feel my stare because after a minute, he spoke up.

"What do you want now?"

He sighed and I beamed.

"So! The spring dance is coming up in a couple of weeks… would you mind going with me??"

I clasped my hand together in an eager motion and he looked up at me slightly surprised.

"Wait, what?"

"Pretty please, with a cherry on top?? Pretty, pretty, pretty??"

I wobbled my lip a bit and he gave me a disgusted look, though amusement was in his eyes.

"Nope."

"Ugh! Why not?!"

I ranted a bit too loudly as some turned to stare but thankfully our teacher hadn't come in yet. I ignored the Cullen who sat in front and glared at Matt who sighed.

"Because I won't be around then."

"Why?"

I pouted.

"What's so important than saying yes to this gorgeous being next to you?"

I heard an amused snort come from Edward Cullen, and except for throwing him a glare which he obviously couldn't see, I turned back to Matt who went back to drawing.

"There's this art exhibition coming up at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle and I really have to be there."

"Really?"

I asked in tiny as my shoulders dropped and he nodded.

"Yup. I saved a lot to get a ticket. And, I really like… art, you know… so I just…"

He shrugged in a slightly unsure manner and I suddenly realized he just might have the passion for it.

Most of his time was spent drawing from what I could see whenever we were in biology class

Cone to think of it, I'd also never seen him in the cafeteria which wasn't all that surprising though, seeing as it wasn't everyone who ate there.

"Uhn. So am I sitting with the next Da Vinci?? Or perhaps Van Gogh?"

He snorted though a smile appeared on his face.

"Those are gods."

"Hey! You never know. I just might be sitting next to the famous paint 'god' of our century."

"Whatever."

He chuckled dryly and I could tell he was embarrassed.

I sighed though when I realized I still had an issue to deal with.

"Fine… I guess I have to suffer the googly eyes from Mike and the demonic glares from Jessica for a little while."

Matt shrugged.

"Why not just ask that nerdy fella I see around you and your sister. Eric? You do know him, right?"

My eyes widened in thought.

Eric.

Eric.

Why hadn't I thought of it?!

I beamed at Matt.

"Brilliant idea there mate!"

I faked an English accent, slapping him in the back in a friendly way as our teacher walked in and Matt rolled his eyes.

"That was a seriously poor excuse for an accent."

I huffed.

"But let's have a pact here. Now."

I whispered and he looked at me curiously.

"What?"

"If by Prom, I don't have a date and you don't have a date. We'll both go together. Capiche?"

He gave me an amused look.

"But Prom is still—"

"Dude!"

I gave him a look and he rolled his eyes.

"Fine. Whatever. It's your funeral."

I let out a quiet whoop.

At least that one was over with.

Now, back to school stuff.

Few days passed and March came in with a slight drizzle.

I'd spent a month and almost two weeks already in Forks.

The spring dance was approaching and I realized Eric really might be my last option for the dance. Except I decided to go with a stranger, which was a big no-no for me.

What would I even say to them?

And so with a determined look that Tuesday, the first of March, I entered Forks High, heading to my class when Jessica walked up to me, a determined look on her face which immediately made me wary.

"Hey Gabby!"

She feigned a smile.

"Hi. What's up?"

"Oh nothing! Was just curious about your spring dance plans. Bella said something about not making it? A family thing?"

She inquired with a look of hope on her face and I inwardly cursed Bella.

Family thing??

What was she on??

Just because she wasn't looking forward to the dance didn't mean she should lie so badly!

I forced a smile on my face.

"Ah, yes. For Bella. She has to go to Seattle for it. I'm free though."

A look of disappointment appeared on her face.

"Oh. Really? I just thought…"

I bit my lip, feeling sympathetic for the girl and decided then and there to let her know Mike was free game for her.

"Yeah. Speaking of, have you found a date yet?... I heard Mike's still free."

A look of surprise appeared on her face.

"What?"

I nodded.

"Well yeah. You and Mike could totally rock the whole Monte Carlo theme together! You'd look absolutely amazing, you both."

I gushed and as I did, a beaming smile grew across her face and she was back to her giddy self.

"Oh! You think?!"

I nodded eagerly.

"Well yes! I guarantee you two would make a fine couple!"

I elongated the couple, and a look of glee appeared on her face.

"I think so too! Oh, I have so many plans for this! Maybe even plan a Port Angeles trip as well."

That definitely interested me.

"Oh! Can I come too? That is, whenever you pick a day?"

She nodded with an excited look, suddenly crossing our arms together like we were the best of friends.

"It'll be super fun! There are a bunch of shops I'd love to check out for the whole Monte Carlo theme we're all going for and—"

Well.

Problem solved… for the moment.

As small as Forks was… finding someone really was quite hard to do if I was being honest.

Finding Eric was difficult!

It was like trying to find a drop of water in an ocean.

Crazy, I know!

We had some classes together, but whenever it was over and I tried to reach out it was like he'd vanished!

Mike, on the other hand, seemed to ALWAYS be around!

The last class of the day came which was gym and we were playing basketball this time.

We'd finally moved from volleyball to basketball the previous week and I was actually enjoying myself.

Except well, compared to Bella who, while no one passed her the ball, still found a way to slip and fall during the game. She even found a way to take players down with her as well!

Luckily for me, I already knew the kind of person she was so I made sure to stay away from her whenever she was so much as sprinting towards my direction for a chance to grab the ball.

It would be hilarious if it wasn't a bit sad.

The bell rang for the end of the school day and as I changed into my normal outfit, a disgruntled look settled on my face.

Where was Eric anyways?!

Okay, I knew he probably wanted to ask Bella, seeing as Mike seems to want to ask me, but it was like he was an undercover agent with how he seemed to be everywhere and nowhere at the same time!

I left the locker room once I was done, walking out the school building and towards my car where my eyes widened in shock as, coming my way, shoulder slumped and a moody look on his face was Eric!

I did a small celebratory dance as I fast walked over to him.

"Eric!!"

I blurted out, startling him a bit as he jumped, a confused look on his face.

"Hey Gabby. Heard you and Bella won't make it for the dance?"

I pushed down the irritation I felt towards my sister and shook my head.

She really had no idea how to lie when someone asked her out.

"Um, just her. Listen, I was wondering if you'd be my date to the dance?"

He seemed to shut down in that moment.

A blink. Then another blink. His mouth opened and closed.

Then he gestured with his hand uselessly.

"Uh, Eric?"

"Gabby… di—did you just asked me… to the dance?"

He pointed to himself, and if it hadn't looked so comical, I'd have thought it cute.

"Um, yes? As friends of course."

But I don't think he was listening again as he jumped up with a whoop, startling some who were walking past us and he stood a little too close with a dream like grin, making take a step back.

"Are you serious Gabby? Like, one hundred percent really, truly serious? Me as your date?? You do know I'll be at the DJ stand during the dance??"

He jumped on his toes and I snorted.

"Yeah. Don't care."

"Awesome! I'd love to be your date!!"

A feeling of relief grew on my face.

Finally!

I had a date that wasn't Mike!

Take that, universe!

I grinned.

"Perfect. I guess we'll discuss later about the colors and stuff. See you later Eric."

"You too babe!"

He drew me a heart with his hand before running off into the school and I snorted as I headed towards my car, entering and driving off.

Deep down though, I really and truly hoped I hadn't made a mistake with choosing Eric as my date.

Yes!

New chapter here!!

A little father daughter time there cause I wasn't a fan of Bella not putting some time for her father. It was always Edward, Edward, Edward or Cullens, Cullens, Cullens. Well. My story is definitely going to be changing that! At least between Gabby and her Dad.

I was going with Matt to be her date for the dance at first, but i decided on it being Eric cause well... how could that not go wrong!! lol!

Poor Mike, but he's obviously git no chance with the sisters anyways. Jessica for the win... this time.

I enjoy writing Charlie cause... he's just total awkward dad material tbough he loves his kids and Gabby just loves to tease him unconditionally.

Thanks for reading!!

And i hope you leave comments please!!

P.s. Face for my OC is Dina Denoire.
