After the Dawn
a Twilight Saga fanfic

Introduction and Disclaimer
I won't say I'm a huge fan of Stephanie Meyer's young adult gothic romance saga, Twilight (Midnight Sun, Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, Breaking Dawn ), but I do enjoy the story involved. The struggles and victories that not only Bella and Edward had, but that of the local tribe and the Cullen clan (coven) had in co-existing because of Bella. This story is going to take place a few years after the end of the battle in the meadow in Breaking Dawn, and Bella wants to extend the circle of those in the "know" to a few of her human friends and possibly her mother. They never explored that possibility beyond Charlie and the tribe being in the circle. I doubt even Charlie could keep Bella's mom out of the loop very long. Also, what of Angela, Bella's only real girlfriend at Forks High (yeah I really don't see Jessica as her friend)? I'm sure she'd get curious after a while of not hearing from Bella and investigate. I guess you could call this a "what if" tale. I hope you enjoy.
I do not own the rights to anything in the Twilight Saga universe, I am only writing this for fun. I do not wish to infringe or steal anything from Stephaine Meyer, and I hope if she reads this she understands that. Please don't sue me, I only do this for fun so enjoy.

Bella, I haven't heard from you in over a year now. You said we'd stay in touch after high school. Last I heard you had recovered from an illness, adopted a little girl (Edward's neice) and were happily married. Ben and I want to see you. We've got some news and a question to ask you that can't be said over email. Please get back to me soon.
Angela
No matter how many times I looked at her email I sighed. I know Angela meant well, but how could I, Bella Cullen go to see my best girlfriend in Seattle at university without answering so many awkward questions. First of all, I was a vampire, sort of an occupational hazard when giving birth to my little girl Renessme, now more like a twelve year old in phyiscal age rather than two years old in actual time. My husband, Edward, had little choice than to turn me to save my life. Another problem, vampires had to keep their circle of human "friends" low that knew thier secret. I'm pretty sure Angela would keep the secret, but Ben? I wasn't sure. I'm pretty sure he'd do asnything to keep Angela happy, but it was hard enough keeping my dad Charlie in the know. Still, I was curious as to what was up with her. Edward would go with me of course, but if I took my lovely half-human daughter with us, we'd have to bring her werewolf bodyguard, Jacob along. No matter how grateful I was to have my best friend still in my life, the circumstances still grated on my nerves sometimes. Needless to say as long as my daughter is alive, he'll be around as he "imprinted" on her since birth. He's her "soulmate" for lack of a better term, and I know it's odd and it still bothers me from time to time, but I couldn't ask for a better protector of my daughter and my family as Jacob Black. I asked Edward what he thought about taking a trip to Seatlle, and he still hasn't decided. He brought up the problems with letting her know too much, but we're still discussing it to this day. I even tried to contact Angela to get her to tell me over email, but she refused. So, hopefully the four of us will go soon to see what's up. I hope everything's okay with her.
"Are you sure you can't get her to tell you over the phone or email, Bella?"Edward asked for what seemed for the thousandth time after I brought up Angela's request, "It's not like I haven't tried honey, but she won't tell me until she's seen me, well both of us actually." Edward could usually hide his emotions so well, but I knew him too well to not know he was shocked by this bit of news. "Angela wants to see us both, really?" I couldn't help but notice the note of sarcasm mixed in with his surprised tone. "Come on Edward, she was the only one of my human friends that didn't run from you when I was dating you, why wouldn't you think that would continue?" I chewed the inside of my stone hard cheek with my sharpened teeth, "BesidesI think Ben wants to ask you something too." If I said nothing could surprised my little over century old husband this would have proven me wrong, Edward's eyes nearly popped out of his head when I said this. "Ben wants to see me too? Why?" I rolled my eyes, "I only know what Angela told me when I called her. She would only say she had to see us both and her tone told me that it wasn't a bad thing, relax." Edward smiled but rolled his eyes, "Easy for you to say honey, Angela isn't exactly in the know about our 'condition'. Can she keep that secret?" I couldn't answer him because I didn't know. I mean Angela gave me great advice about dealing with my Edward vs. Jacob issues before the newborn army incident, but could she keep a secret this big, could Ben? I had no answer at all, but I was dying to know what my mortal friend wanted and she was being annoyingly stubborn about telling me in person. "All we can do is try Edward, so I guess we're going to go and see what's up." All Edward could do was smile, but worry did come through his eyes, "At least it's only Seattle."

Angela, Edward and I would be thrilled to see you. I want to introduce my daughter to you as well. I'm also bringing my best friend Jake along, you remember, that "big Indian" that faced Edward down in the high school parking lot our senior year? He's going to be our babysitter for us. Why don't we meet Friday evening at Assaggio Ristorante at 6 for dinner. Don't worry about the cost, our treat. I sense this is a special occasion so Edward and I don't mind footing the bill for dinner with old friends. Write me back with your answer. All my love, Bella Swan-Cullen.
"Assaggio's, really?" Edward smiled as he read over my shoulder, "showing off a little Bella?" I shrugged, "Hey, you and Alice have been telling me to live a little, so why not wow an old friend in the process?"
"Another question darling, what makes you think it's a special occasion?" Edward mused. "Let's just say I have my suspicions, you know, about why Angela won't tell me what she wants over the phone. Also why Ben wants to talk to you as well. If it weren't a special occasion why ask for you too?" I grinned at my beautiful husband. "I guess I can see your point, but why bring our daughter too?" Edward didn't want to expose Renesmee to anyone who couldn't handle her "unique qualities" like hyper aging at least until she reaches the biological age of 14, and honestly I couldn't blame him. My dad could barely deal with having a grandaughter much less one who looks 12 when she's only two. "Well, in one of the many time I called her trying to get the 'news' she wanted to share out of her she said she wanted to meet her, and you know full well that Jacob won't let her out of her sight and we really don't need a report of a wolf rampaging through Seattle to tip off anyone who knows us in Italy. We really don't need to give the Volturi another excuse for a visit so soon.' Edward grimaced at the memory a few short year ago when the Volturi, tipped off by our Denali cousin Irinia that we had turned a child into an immortal, something that was forbidden in the vampire community because of their uncontrollable nature. That started off a storm of events that could have decimated our entire coven. If it hadn't been for Alice and her impeccible timing we could have been destroyed, nothing more than ash in the wind. "I see your point Bella, I only hope our 'guard dog" is house trained." Edward was joking, I knew it, so my scowl was only half-hearted, Jacob in his own way was adopted by the Cullen clan because of his connection to my daughter, but there was still friction from time to time. I know I could trust Jcob to behave. The only trouble I could forsee is me being able to fake eating like a "normal', my term for being merely human. Friday couldn't come soon enough.

Friday evening, my family, including Jake dressed like something out of a fashion magazine entered the resturant at 2010 4th Avenue in Seatlle. We had reserved a private group table for all of us. I wasn't surprised to see Angela and Ben already there, looking around in awe when they saw us come in. "Bella, it's been ages!" Agela ran to me, and hugged me. She didn't flinch from my cold skin, which struck me odd. Most humans recoiled from our low skin temperature.
