Academy Days

Chapter 2

The academy was an interesting place, to say the least.

Aspiring ninjas of various age groups from 6 to 12 attended the institution six days a week. The timings for the academy were from 8 am in the morning to 1 in the afternoon.

Subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and History were covered by the academy sensei's who were well versed in those, or at least what they needed to know. Who knows what sort of propaganda could be written in the history books. Konoha after all is a military village and they needed loyal soldiers to fight for the betterment of the village.

All this of course did not account for the various sparring lessons, shuriken & kunai throwing lessons, running races, and last but not the least, the obstacle course.

I, of course, had excelled in all of the written tests. I mean I was competing with a bunch of 7 and 8-year-olds. If I hadn't utterly demolished them, then it would have been embarrassing. Having the knowledge of a college graduate does wonders for a reincarnated person. The Sharingan had also aided me with its picture-perfect memory by memorizing various lessons in the History and Geography subjects.

"Sasuke vs Naruto," the slimy academy teacher Mizuki called out with a near gleeful smile on his face.

He wants Naruto to get humiliated I deduced with a grimace.

The academy teachers absolutely loathed Naruto even though they did their best to hide it. I could see it clear as day, with the unnecessary amount of times the blonde boy would get kicked out of class for the most trivial of reasons. Mizuki especially went out of his way to make Naruto's life hell without physically harming him. He would teach Naruto wrong taijutsu forms, humiliate the blonde prankster in front of the entire class, give him extra homework when he thought no one was looking, specifically asked the boy questions he knew Naruto could not answer, and a lot more. What an asshole that guy was.

I could probably do something about it but that would out provide me with more unwanted attention that I didn't need. Me helping the Uzumaki spawn would only force more ANBU to watch my every move, and yes even though I couldn't detect the masked ninjas, I knew they watched me. After all, being the last of the Uchiha clan put a huge target on my back and I did need protection from outside enemies.

"C'mon Bastard fight me!" The son of the Yondaime yelled at me. I stared at him blankly not understanding where all that confidence came from, before sighing and shaking my head. He is a shonen anime protagonist, he won't change a bit I thought to myself.

I walked over to the middle of the fighting arena which was a small field about five meters in both length and breadth. The middle of the field was surrounded by a white circular rope, around three centimeters in radius. Small, but perfect for a bunch of 7-year-olds.

I lifted my hand just up to my nose and formed a half seal of reconciliation. My opponent did the same albeit much more angrily, his blue eyes drilling into me with unadulterated hatred. Jeez, what did I ever do?

"Begin," the voice of Mizuki reached my ears.

I stood my ground and waited for Naruto to come charge at me like a raging bull. Naruto proceeded to do exactly what I predicted.

As soon as the punch neared my face, I tilted my head to the side, grabbed the blonde boy's arm, tripped his legs, and pinned him on the ground, one foot gently on his stomach. There was no way I was going all out on someone who was scorned on a near daily basis.

"Sasuke wins," Mizuki yelled. I sighed and let go of Naruto before opening my palm to give the dead last a lift.

Instead of taking my hand, he slapped my hand away and scowled at me like a petulant child would do when not given their favorite toy.

"No way, no way, no way! I don't give up, ya know! Fight me again bastard!" the high-pitched voice of Naruto screamed at me.

"Naruto that's enough! Sasuke wins, go back to your place!" Mizuki yelled at the prankster. Naruto huffed at me and bared his teeth before stomping off away from me like I was a horrible disease.

I didn't enjoy beating up kids, but it was impossible not to. I was just so much better and more intelligent than most of them at his stage. Barring Shikamaru or Sakura, I didn't think anyone could catch up to me in the intelligence department even when everyone in the classroom - including the canon fodder - reached eighteen.

I walked back to the line of students, the fangirls squealing about how cool I was. Could you believe that? I had fangirls at the mere of age 7. It made no sense that they would be so infatuated with me at this age. The only explanation I could come up with was that their parents forced them to get into the good graces of the last Uchiha. If I fell for one of them, they would be set for life.

Tough luck for them since I intended on graduating early. The academy was too boring for my taste.

"Man the scenery from here is just too good." I mused to myself.

Standing on top of a water tank on a rather tall building which I had climbed by utilizing the tree-walking exercise.

Konoha, judging from its appearance could be described as beautiful.

The way each house was arranged, the lush green trees, the Hokage monument, the academy, the laboratory, the hotels, all of them were so mesmerizing to look at you'd think that this place was the literal definition of heaven.

Back where I lived, there was so much pollution varying from noise, air, and water pollution. The difference in aesthetics was huge when comparing this world to the much more industrialized version back in my old world. I had never taken the time to go to a park or a beach to spend my time observing a more clean yet inhabited environment.

However, the reason for me to sit on this water tank was not to admire the dazzling view that Konoha provided but to observe the rooftops of houses.

Shinobi often utilized rooftops to get to their destinations quicker. They either jumped across them or used the Body Flicker to get across quicker which was exactly what I was looking for.

The Sharingan allowed me to see the chakra flow of a person - although maybe not quite as detailed as the Byakugan - hence enabling me to observe the way shinobi applied chakra to their limbs to enhance themselves and further increase their physical capabilities. Of course I kept my eyes hidden beneath a Henge so as to not look suspicious. No doubt the Hokage knew about my pink-eye anyway since my mental breakdown in his office.

It had been a few months since I had started this particular hobby. Not only did it provide me with knowledge on the various ins and outs of the village but also gave me a charming view of the sunset. Never got tired of it.

Finally, I saw a trio of chunin standing on a rooftop of a small house. One blonde and two brown-haired background characters conversing with each other.

My Sharingan zeroed on their hands just as they moved to make seals. Tiger my eyes memorized. The trios chakra surged near the legs before they vanished in a puff of smoke.

I was momentarily shocked. I had been sitting on this tank for about a month and that was all it took to complete the Jutsu?

"Well... at least I enjoyed the view," I muttered to myself. Jumping off the tank, I decided it was time to try out the Jutsu myself.

--

The Uchiha clan had some massive training grounds that extended quite far into the distance. Trees sprouted from all directions, each twice as large as an Asian Elephant. This place was pollution-free, a very nice place to set up a picnic.

But I wasn't here for a picnic. Far from it.

I took a deep breath and performed the required hand seal. Sharingan remained activated to make sure tunnel vision would be rendered impossible.

Tiger. My chakra surged similarly to the chunin I had observed.

I went flying sideways instead of straight. The wind rushed from my sides, each detail of the moving landscape from my view memorized due to my dojutsu's impressive abilities. I could see in perfect detail my descent towards the ground.

My legs slammed straight onto the bark of a tree hard. I groaned in pain and stumbled backward, just managing to stop my head from hitting the ground harshly. That was most certainly not what I had in mind when practicing the Jutsu.

"You know what..." I mumbled to myself. "Maybe the Jutsu isn't that easy."

Perhaps I should practice the Body Flicker in a less tree-dense area?

Yeah, considering the redness of my legs, that would be a logical choice.

"Enter," Hiruzen commanded his shinobi.

The door creaked open and a man with brown hair tied in a ponytail. He wore a green flack jacket, grey shinobi pants, and a tied Konoha headband on his forehead. His signature scar rested at the middle of his nose.

Iruka walked in and stood directly in front of the desk of the Hokage. Hiruzen motioned Iruka to start the oral report of one Uchiha Sasuke.

The chunin nodded once before speaking. "Uchiha-san excels in every theoretical subject. He has perfect scores in all of them. As far as I can say, he has done better than Itachi in all of them. His grades in theory are on par with Minato Namikaze."

Sarutobi nodded expecting as much. The Sharingan gave the user perfect memory enabling them to memorize anything theory related easily. Sasuke was simply the first Uchiha to activate while still in the academy. Considering what the child had experienced, the results were exactly as he had foreseen.

Iruka continued his report, breaking the Third from his musings. "His taijutsu is a solid A, the highest in the class. His lap time in the obstacle course is the second-highest recorded for his age, just below the late Fourth Hokage. His shurikenjutsu and kunai throwing skills are a constant 10/10. He never misses targets just like his brother."

Once again the God of Shinobi remained unmoved as ever. His ANBU had after all reported to him that the Uchiha seemed to be focused more on speed than power. Rat had heard the child muttering about how reaction time and speed were more important to a shinobi more than raw power.

"These are excellent results," he remarked glancing at the hand-written report before his gaze returned to the man in front of him. "What about his friends?" He questioned. Bonds and emotional attachments were important to ensure loyalty to the village.

The academy teacher grimaced. "I am afraid it's not going well, sir. My student is very dismissive of those around him and only seems gentle to Uzumaki Naruto," at the name of the child Sarutobi stood up slightly straighter fully intent on listening to what Iruka would say next. "Sasuke doesn't go out of his way to help Naruto, but he never bullies him or ignores him. Sasuke seems to do his best to make sure that Naruto doesn't get hit too hard since they are frequently paired up against each other."

Hiruzen frowned slightly. Could the boy have known the S-rank secret? Was he taking pity on Minato's son?

The Third Hokage shook his head. He was overthinking this. Sasuke Uchiha was extremely observant for his age, as his masked subordinates reported to him about the child's behavior of sitting on top of a water tank and looking around the village using his Sharingan under a Henge. Maybe the last Uchiha had taken pity on Naruto and decided to be gentler.

"Interesting," he muttered absently. A swift chakra pulse and he knew his ANBU had left to investigate the matter.

Wouldn't hurt to be too careful about it.

AN: Academy chapters are so tedious to write so I'll just move on with the actual story next chapter. Enough information will be given on his abilities and growth without an actual training montage since most people probably skip them anyway.

Also changed the formatting a bit and made a few edits in the first chapter.

Most of you might be angry that I made him strong, but if your college graduate SI is not smacking kids a third of his age both mentally and physically, then he's just stupid.

pikkin: Thank you for the kind words and yes I'll do my best to complete this. It depends on whether my schedule is free enough.
