Hello Everyone,
Chapter 17 coming at you! I hope that you all enjoyed the last chapter. It was a lot of fun writing Momma Bear Sue… This chapter is just a little bit of fun. I'm not a doctor and I know that this is probably not what Bella should be doing, but she really didn't get hit that hard. As someone how was hit in the head a lot in gym, I probably did things that weren't advisable after.
Anyway… I don't own any of the Twilight materials or characters, I just make them act like overgrown children.
Chapter 17: Boys vs. Girls
By Thursday night, I was alright aside from a purple and blue face. I looked like Violet from Willy Wonka. I had my second check-up scheduled for Monday, but both Carlisle and Dr. Gerandy looked at my scans and x-rays, and I didn't have a concussion. I was allowed to go back to school on Friday, given that I ask to go to the nurse if I started to feel tired or worn out.
Yesterday, Emmett and Jake – behind my back – asked Carlisle if I could participate in their genius scheme. They were both very happy when consented to my going, conditionally.
Laser Tag.
They wanted to do a group date to a new laser tag place that had recently opened in P.A.. Alice and I were not so thrilled.
"Come on, B," Jake whined on the way home from school. Apparently, I wasn't allowed to drive until I was cleared either. Put another check in the "I hate Tanya" column. I only had my truck for four days. "Lizzie and Rose want to make it boys vs. girls, and Jazz offered to sit out if you guy think you need a handicap."
"Ha, ha," I fake laughed. "You and Em both know that I'm the best shot or do I have to have Daddy explain to you again that you supposed to hit the little circle in the center of the target? We don't need a handicap; I just know Em and you get aggressive at this kind of stuff."
"Like when?" he scoffed.
"So soon we forget the Buzz Lightyear ride at Disney. You nearly pushed Em out of the ride car to get him to stop shooting."
Jake started laughing. "That's the beauty of boys vs. girls. We are on the same team and Rose and Lizzie are on the other team, which should keep us in check."
I thought about it and sighed. "I guess it would be fun," I said quietly.
"Sweet! It will be, Sis. Just what you need after all the Tanya drama."
I smiled and nodded. I had a feeling the Tanya Drama was just beginning. According to her, I was the reason that she was missing two weeks of Cheer and the Homecoming dance. She was going to be out for blood.
"I can't believe that I let you bitches talk me into this," Alice said. "What happens when I break a nail playing this stupid game?"
"We keep our nail appointment tomorrow," Lizzie answered with a laugh. That would be what they talked me into for Saturday morning before work. Because who would rather sleep in on a Saturday before work. Definitely not me.
"But we'll get all sweaty," Alice continued to whine. She was just gripping at straws now.
"Mary-Alice Margaret!" Rose yelled from the driver's seat. "Get your head in the game, please. Losers pay for the take-out, and I don't know about you, but I don't want to pay for Emmett's appetite."
We pulled into the parking lot and into the spot next to Edward's car.
"About time, Girls," Emmett said. "You're just delaying the inevitable."
"Think again, Emmett," Alice said as she got out of the back seat. Apparently, she had that competitive Cullen gene deep down. "We are going to mop the floor with you."
Jazz and Jake started laughing. "I don't think so. I've been using a gun since before you were making your own clothes, Darlin," Jazz joked back.
"You wish, Cowboy. We've got Bella," Alice said. She crossed her arms and marched into the building. Jazz followed after her.
"Interesting development," Leah muttered next to me. All I could do was nod. Interesting indeed.
"Shall we?" Edward asked. I nodded and walked passed him. I looked back over my shoulder at him and smiled at him. "Don't act all sweet now, Cullen. You're going down, too."
"We'll see," he laughed and held the door open for me.
"Everyone ready?" The attendant asked us over the intercom. We all shot at the target on the wall like we had been told while we were suiting up. "Okay, remember the rules. No rough housing, no intentional physical contact, and once you've been shot with the laser, your gear will be down for 20 seconds. Got it?"
We shot the target again. "Alright. Ready. Set. Go!" he yelled, and we all ran for cover. The arena area was a ninja warrior training set up and a labyrinth mixed together. There were walls and half walls at different angles, slandered platforms, and mirrors all over the place. Alice and I hide closest to the wall behind a wide pillar. We hear the dinging and the trash talking from the others.
"Bells," Jasper taunted. "I saw you two go this way. I know that you're back here."
I cursed under my breathe. I peeked out and saw that he was turned around to watch his back, so I took my shot. "Yes! Run Alice!" I yelled as I ran by him the other way. He followed after me so that he could shoot me after his suit turned back on. I ran toward the other end of the area, shooting Jake in the back on the way through just as he was cornering Lizzie. I ran back and forth between obstacles, trying to never give him a clear shot. Unfortunately, there were a lot of corners in here, and I accidentally found myself in one.
"It's over, B," he said as he walked closer. "My job was to corner you and keep you here. Let's face it the girls aren't that good without you out there." He pointed the laser gun at me and walked forward. Behind him, I saw Alice come into view quietly behind him.
"Hands in the air, Cowboy," she said, moving forward. Jasper smirked and turned toward her slowly. "Give me one good reason."
"You don't want to do that Darlin," Jasper said, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
"And why is that?" she asked, adjusting here stance.
"Because, I'm not alone."
Alice looked confused, until I saw Edward creep around the corner behind him.
"Alice! Look out!" I yelled, aiming for his chest, and getting him just in time. She squealed as she pulled the trigger and got Jasper in the chest. "Come on, Alice," I grabbed her hand, and we took off to find the others. I shot Jake again as he had Leah cornered, and we found Lizzie and Rose pinned down by Emmy and Sam.
"Hello, boys," Alice and I said as we shot the back of their vests. Rose and Lizzie jumped up out of their hiding spot and ran behind us. After a while, I was trying to find a place that was defensible when I accidently stumbled into Edward. I turned quickly and ran, but he has longer legs. He chased me to the other side of the room and back into that same damn corner as before.
He smirked as he walked slowly toward me, enjoying this just a little too much. "You think that you would know better about this corner."
I laughed and shrugged. " And you'd think that you would learn more for Bond villains." He looked confused until I raised my laser at his vest. "Shoot first, explain later." I pulled the trigger and his vest lite up. I ran passed him and kissed his cheek. "See ya."
He laughed and shook his head. "Tease."
I laughed as I ran away. Em and Jake were right. This was a blast.
"So boys," Rose said as we handed in the equipment. "We girls were thinking that you could buy us pizza. We can't decide which one we want so we're just going to order all five. I hope that's okay."
"Yeah, yuck it up, girls," Emmett started. "You know that our vests stopped working," he whined.
"They all did?" I asked. "At the same time?"
The five of us laughed as the boys continued to pout.
"Come on," Leah said. "You guys put up the good fight, but… you suck."
"Love you too, Lee-Lee," Sam said as he put his arm around her shoulder.
"You do and you know it," she said, kissing his cheek.
Edward came up behind me and kissed the top of my head. "Good game."
"What? You're not going to pout with the rest of them?" I said with a smirk.
"No. You're really cute when you try to sneak up on people. I really enjoyed myself even though we lost."
"Aww, thank you," I laughed. "You're cute when you get caught off guard by your girlfriend." I tried not to cringe at my word vomit.
"Girlfriend, huh?" he said with a smirk.
"I mean, I'm okay with it if you are."
He looked at me and smiled. "I could be persuaded. On one condition?" He waited, and I looked up at him. "I get to accidentally call myself your boyfriend, too. It only seems fair."
I giggled and nodded. "You know that you're a cheeseball, right?"
"Yeah, but I'm now officially your cheeseball."
I laughed and kissed him on the cheek. "See you at the pizza parlor, Boyfriend," I joked.
"Not soon enough, Girlfriend," he whispered as he turned and walked to the driver side of is car and started it. I smiled to myself as I got into Rose's car, and we headed to the pizza parlor down the road.
Not nearly soon enough.
