ENTRY 3
BLIND DATE
"On the count of three, I open the door." I thought to myself as I stood outside the diner.
I somehow had let my best friend Bella talk me into going on a blind double date with her, her boyfriend Edward and his best friend from college.
It was Valentine's Day evening and all-day Bella had been texting me about tonight. We were going to meet up at the diner for dinner and then go and play mini golf afterwards.
She knew I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and didn't want me to be alone. Apparently, Edward's friend was also single and had never been in a relationship due to him being incredibly shy and they were determined that their two friends should meet.
I took a deep breath and pulled the door to the diner open and looked around for Bella.
"Over here Alice!" Bella called and waved me over to a table where two males sat across from her. "Alice, you know Edward, and this is his friend Jasper."
"Hi…" I stuttered as I looked over at Jasper and tried to speak.
I had never met Jasper before, I had only heard about him in passing and he was gorgeous! He had blonde hair that was wavy and long on top but was shaved in the back and sides, blue eyes that sparkled and a smile that was shy yet held a little mischief.
"Alice, it's nice to meet you." He said and held out his hand.
"You too!" I smiled as I shook as his hand.
Dinner at the diner was pretty good and I learned that Jasper and I had gone to high school together.
"I'm sorry, I don't remember seeing you, did we have any classes together?" I asked.
"No, you probably don't remember me because back then I weighed about 100lbs more than I do now." He laughed. "It's a wonder what a gym membership, some contacts and a good friendship can do for a guy."
"Edward and Jasper, were college roommates." Bella explained. "He helped Jasper at the gym, and they've been friends ever since."
"Well, I say we pay and then head out." Edward said as he and Jasper got up. "Ladies, this is on Jasper and I."
"I can pay for myself, it's no problem." I said as I pulled my out my wallet.
"Alice, the guys got it. It's fine." Whispered Bella as she put her coat on and I slipped my wallet back into my purse. "Come on, let's go!"
"This place is so cool; I love all the colors." Bella babbled away as I set up my shot at the mini golf course. "So, what do you think of Jasper?"
"I think he's cool." I blushed as I hit my golf ball.
"I think he's perfect for you! He's quiet and shy and did you see his butt in those jeans."
"Bella!" I cried out.
It was then that Jasper had swung at his ball and ended up hitting the girl who was ahead of us in the stomach with said ball.
"Oh my God! I'm so sorry!" I apologized as the girl waved it off and laughed with her friends.
"Well, she sure knows how to take a hit." Jasper whispered next to me, causing me to giggle.
"I'm sorry, Bella said something inappropriate. I didn't mean to make you lose your concentration."
"It's cool." Jasper smiled as we walked to the next hole.
A little while later as Bella and Jasper walked ahead of us, looking for Bella's lost golf ball, Edward turned to me and asked if I was having fun.
"Yeah, Jasper seems great. I still can't get over the fact we went to school together but never met before."
"You might not have actually met, but Jasper certainly noticed you."
"What do you mean?"
"He told me when you and Bella went to get a drink that he remembers you from school, and that he had a crush on you but didn't think you would go out with him because he was so overweight."
"Wow, I'm sorry he thought that."
"Just give him some time and he'll open up." Smiled Edward.
It was the end of the date, and we had a lot of fun at the mini golf course. Edward ended up winning, claiming he spent a lot of time playing actual golf with his dad during the summers. The guys played a few games in the arcade and Jasper won enough tickets for a prize playing Super Shot against Edward.
"Looks like all those weekends playing basketball really paid off." Edward joked.
"What can I get for you?" The attendant behind the prize case asked.
"I'll take the pink teddy bear." Jasper said as the attendant handed it over to him. "Here, this is for you Alice. Bella mentioned pink was your favorite color."
"Thanks, Jasper." I blushed as I took a hold of the bear. "That's so sweet of you!"
"Maybe I could get your phone number and call you sometime?" He asked blushing.
"Sure." I smiled at I grabbed a napkin out of the holder and wrote down my phone number.
"Jasper why don't you walk Alice home, and I'll take Bella." Edward said as we headed out of the arcade.
"Okay." He smiled.
The walk to my apartment was nice and we shared stories of our individual friendships with Edward and Bella. I ended up having a great time with him and didn't want the night to end.
"Well, this is me." I said as we stopped in front of my door.
"Great! I'll call you and maybe we can go for coffee or something."
"Sounds great. Bye Jasper."
"Good night, Alice." He said and then leaned over and kissed me on the cheek.
I leaned back against the door after I entered and smiled. I couldn't wait to see him again!
Just then my cell began ringing.
"Hello?"
"Hi Alice, it's Jasper…"
