Chapter five

'Nothing was mentioned about that. I do know he approached her a few weeks before the wedding but from what I could hear, she said no, she wasn't risking her life with you. George did ask why no one knew Lee had been at your home. Lee admitted that the moment he knew Ginny had died, he got scared. He used magic to clean up and make sure there was nothing that showed he had been there then left. He said since he didn't really do anything wrong, apart from having sex with a married woman, he didn't do anything illegal, he decided to leave and not say anything. He said he always felt guilty which is why he decided to speak with George. He did ask George if he planned to tell his family. George promised he wouldn't say anything as he knew one or all of them would blame Lee and they could go after him. George warned Lee that any one in his family could actually kill him if they found out. They decided to add a magical oath on that information. They can't be forced to tell anyone even if veritaserum was used. Since I was hidden and not part of the oath, I'm still able to talk about it but I only will with you two.' Neville said.

'So between the information Hermione found, what George knows and the oath, they should believe it was Ginny's fault due to a blood curse on the Prewett line and nothing to do with my family. Since George and Lee did the oath, then hopefully the rest of them will eventually give up. We all know they won't for a while yet but they will have to eventually.'

'They will mate. I also think it's behind the reason why they watch all the woman that approach you. They know many women will go after you but they also want to make sure one of these woman isn't the one responsible for Ginny's death,' Neville said.

'You're probably right. We all know how far some people will go to get what they want.'

'So our boss knows the truth?'

'Yeah, I showed him some information then explained more about the Weasley temper. We worked out to officially close the case and the file with the information on why she died that no one but the head auror can see.'

'What is something happens to Tim?' Hermione asked sounding anxious.

'Right now, Connie would end up head auror. She wants to have kids as soon as she got into a serious relationship. We've spoken and decided to wait another two years. If something happens to Tim after Connie has left the aurors, then I'll be head. Tim's been adding some extra training for me so I'll be ready, just in case. It's why I stay back for an hour every day. Even though Tim doesn't go out chasing dark wizards anymore, we know how easily someone could get killed just by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I really don't want to be head, at least not for a long time, if ever. After ten years, the head auror can remove files and store them so they don't take up room but only the head and deputy head can access the room where those files are stored. We talked and plan to remove a lot of files but that one will be conveniently lost. Even if I end up head, we know Ron will never be good enough to become deputy head. Anyway, you two worked things out, listened and spoke before talking to me.'

'We wanted to make sure we had proof. You know we won't say anything and I'm protected from Ron's temper. He is no good at legilimense so I'm safe there.'

'The ring will also protect you from that Hermione. With everything going on at the time, I forgot to mention I added that as well. Bill could easily use legilimense if he was suspicious of you. I made sure to charm it. I did my ring that Sirius left me. After finding out how often the old man and Snape used it on us, I just wanted to make sure we were safe from now on.'

'My family ring protects me from legilimense. But it was a smart thing to do, considering Bill's power.' Neville said.

'Bill is the only one who could do it. But Harry, about what you asked before, whether Lee and Ginny got together before you were married. Um, sorry if this is a bit personal but you should have found out if she was a virgin when you had sex.'

'I never mention this to anyone except Tim but Ginny wanted us to have a few drinks before we had sex. She said it would help with her nerves and she thought it would relax both of us. I already had a few at the reception so I was pretty plastered by the time we did it. I couldn't tell you if she was a virgin or not. I don't even remember much about that night.'

'I would say she wasn't. She spoke to me a lot about sex and she was going into details about things. I did not want to hear any of it but some of the things she mentioned made me believe she had done more than kiss. Since she was seeing you, I didn't want the image of you and what she was talking about.'

'I get it, we all know we have sex but we don't want to imagine what you do with Ron, or Neville and Hannah. Now that you mentioned it, she did seemed a bit experienced for someone that was supposedly new to sex. Anyway, it's done, just be careful around Bill even if your both safe from legilimense.'

'We will. But I meant to tell you, I have a feeling that Fleur might end up leaving him,' Hermione said.

'Why?'

'She's began to see more and she doesn't like it. If she does, she won't act differently or tell anyone. She will just slip away through the night or when Bill's away for work, then she will return to France. Her families home is very well protected and her father is the minister for magic. If she explains to him about the Weasley's, he will make sure Fleur and Victoire are safe. The reason I got suspicious about Fleur is because I accidentally found out that she's been taking the preventative potion, which is when I began to watch them more often. Bill wants more kids but Fleur is making sure she can't get pregnant. I think she will leave and it won't be long.'

'Then we'll keep an eye on Ron if she does leave. Tim told me in private that he can't see Ron passing the next lot of tests. He said everyone else is fine but Ron will either be let go or remain a junior auror for years. He just can't control his temper and that's one thing we're all taught to do. He also still hasn't memorised the laws and he can't interrogate without bring his personal feelings into it. Either way Hermione, if he leaves because he has to or stays junior to all of us, he won't be in a very good mood for a while.'

'I can see the signs easy enough so I'll have my wand ready. The spells you added to the ring will keep me safe and I can remove any memory of him being angry with me. I also plan to slip him a relaxation potion while he's out. That should calm him down straight away. I sometimes wonder if it's worth staying. I love Ron, I really do but I worry that he will do something that will surprise me or somehow get around the spells on the ring. Ever since this started, with Ginny, I've been watching him more, listening to everything and doing a lot of thinking. I worry that if we have children and he does...well, kill me, the children will be raised by his mother. They could turn out like them. If I did leave though, I don't believe anything would keep me safe.'

'We worry about you but we also know how much you love him. If you decide to leave, I can make it seem to Ron and everyone else that it was Ron who wanted to end the marriage and no one will ever be able to find out the truth. Normally I could not tell anyone about this but I know Neville is someone that will never reveal this and neither would you. Only the head auror and head of the DMLE know this. It's a specific spell that the head auror will teach the next head auror but we're protected so we can't show anyone. If for any reason you believe you aren't safe and need to finish it, let Neville know and I can get Ron alone.'

'So he will believe he doesn't love me anymore.'

'Basically, yeah. He will feel that it's not working and it would be best if you went your separate ways. The ring keeps you safe now but as you said, you're worried he will find some way around it. I doubt he will but we all know magic can surprise us. This spell was originally only to be used by those people forced into a relationship by use of potions or something like the imperius curse. The one that used the curse or potion would believe they wanted to end the relationship. If you do decide to do this, you will just have to act like you're hurt and you can't date for a while. This won't be spoken about again, unless you tell me it's time. That can be the words that tell me, it's time. You say it to Neville, he tells me and I'll handle it.'

'Thank you. It would be so much easier if I didn't love him, but I do. I hoped his temper would mellow after we got married. It did seem to be getting better, he was really calming down, until Ginny.'

'I think that's really the only time it comes out, otherwise they are all easy going people,' Neville said. 'Since you lunch with Hannah a lot, it won't seem strange for me to be seen sitting with you. If you say the words it's time, I'll let Harry know. It's just precautions right now, but it's always good to have plans.'

'It is. We better go,' Hermione hugged Harry and Neville, then the two men waited until Hermione left before they both apparated to the apparition point inside the ministry.

Harry and Neville acted like they were reporting to their boss about the job they went on, when really, they were explaining to Tim what Hermione said. Neville also explained what he found out. Tim decided not to add all that information to the now closed file. He was going to add the bit about the Prewett's having a curse on their blood which would tell them that it was their families fault and not Harry's. He also decided he might just get rid of the information about the Potter's having a curse on their blood. No one ever needed to know that, only Harry and Connie and she already knows. He thought it might be the perfect way to end the suspicion, add the curse from the Prewett's to the file and keep it in his office. If he ever had to reveal anything about Ginny's death, then they would see it was their families magic that caused her death. Tim and Harry could easily say that they kept it quiet so it wouldn't upset the Weasley family knowing it was their families curse that caused them to lose another member of the family.

After Harry did his extra training, he used the fireplace to floo home. Tim had explained about another way to use the floo. All you had to do was think of your destination, so even if someone was standing near the same fireplace, they wouldn't hear what Harry said because he wouldn't need to speak his destination.
