Chapter five

Harry kept his arm around Ginny as he walked into the great hall. Neville was walking with them, Ron and Hermione following, but both of them didn't look happy. Ron and Hermione were not the only one that didn't seem happy. Draco Malfoy was glaring at Harry but he knew there was nothing he could do or he could end up a squib. His mother had explained to him what could happen if they went against the head of the Black family. Narcissa could not find out when Harry Potter would call them oath breakers but she knew if her son antagonised Potter, he just might do it straight away. Both of them could end up squibs, or dead. Another person was also glaring at Harry and that was Snape, Harry turned and smirked at the man.

'Keep doing that babe and his head just might explode,' Ginny grinned.

'Hey, we can take bets to see how often I can make him lose it.'

'That's a good idea, Harry,' Ginny said.

'Don't encourage him Ginny,' Neville said as he sat down.

'It'd be fun.' Harry said with a grin.

'No, I wouldn't push too much. Remember what you said, you have to work with the old man.'

'Fine, I'll be a good little boy. See,' Harry circled his finger over his head which glowed, 'angel.'

Ginny and Neville burst out laughing making everyone turn to see Harry Potter's halo and him looking like an innocent little boy. That made Neville and Ginny laugh louder but it made Snape scowl more.

'You have to teach me that mate,' Neville said.

'Anytime. But who do you want to use it on?'

'Gran,' Neville smirked.

'So, are you going to tell him what you overheard?' Ginny asked in a whisper.

'I'll mention he's marked, but I doubt the old man will do anything, he never does.'

Hermione's lips ended up so thin it looked like she was sucking lemons. She knew there was no use having a go at Harry, he ignores her then Ginny hexes her. She always thought she was good with a wand, but next to Ginny, she wasn't anywhere near good enough. Ginny was just so fast, a lot like Harry.

Harry had already told Ginny when they were alone that he planned to use the head of the Black family and call Draco Malfoy an oath breaker. Taking the dark mark proves he was supporting Voldemort, who was against Harry so Draco was going against the head of the Black family. He just hadn't decided when he was going to do it.

After the feast, Harry, Ginny and Neville were the first to leave the great hall and head up to Gryffindor tower. They wanted to see if anything was done about the letter Harry sent Dumbledore. Even though Ginny knew her brother had a temper, what Harry wrote was true. He could not trust Ron especially not after he tried to curse Harry in the back. But he also didn't trust Seamus and refused to sleep in the same room as those two boys. Harry wrote that if he wasn't given separate quarters then he would leave and head overseas. They sat in the common room until Katie Bell came in, who headed straight for Harry.

'I'm glad she offered you the captain's position. I won't have time to worry about all that.' Katie said.

'You still want to play, don't you?'

'Yes, if I make the team.'

'I am holding try outs, but I doubt anyone will beat you and Ginny for those spots. Ginny also now owns a Firebolt.'

'Damn, well, I would say Gryffindor might just win the cup again. Anyway, I'm supposed to show you the head boy room. I wasn't told why.'

'I don't trust two of the boys in that dorm room and refuse to sleep in there. I told Dumbledore unless he worked on somewhere else for me to sleep, I'll leave and return to the muggle world.'

'You blackmailed the headmaster, you have guts Potter.'

Harry and Ginny laughed as they followed Katie up the stairs, 'No, I knew he would give in. He wants me here and plans to have a lot of special meetings in his office. I know he won't be training me, so I'm not sure what these meetings are about.'

'You'll find out when you have your first. Anyway, once you step in, you have to give the portrait a password, then tap it with your wand. Do it silently, if you can?'

'I can, thanks Katie.'

Harry and Ginny stepped into the room. Harry turned to the closed door with the portrait.

'Okay, what will we use for the password?'

'Well, since I'll be using this room to study, it can't be in parseltongue. We need to pick a word or sentence no one will think of,' Ginny said.

'How about fire breather?'

Ginny grinned, 'Perfect and no one will work out what that means if they find out, which they won't since we can both do nonverbal. But it's also not a word you would normally use.'

'Exactly,' Harry said the password then tapped the back of the portrait with his wand.

'It's late and I'm tired.'

Harry and Ginny spent a few minutes kissing before Ginny left to go up to the girls dorms. Harry cast some locking charms on the door before he headed to his private bathroom. He wanted a shower before going to bed.

Over the first week at Hogwarts, everyone realised that Harry Potter was not going to all his classes. He was only going to transfiguration and charms. They also found out that Ginny Weasley, Harry's girlfriend wasn't going to defence against the dark arts.

Ron swore and yelled at his sister for not telling him that Snape was the teacher for defence. If he knew he would not have taken that class, now he was stuck. Ginny just smirked before walking away from her brother but the look on Ron's face made Harry laugh.

It only took a week before Draco had tried to get Harry in trouble with Snape. Harry smirked then turned and walked away and there was nothing Snape could do. Draco was shocked when Snape ignored Harry Potter.

When Harry was alone in the library but in full view of Madam Pince, he called Draco Black an oath breaker. He knew he would probably hear and wondered if he would get asked if he had anything to do with it. He had proof he hadn't been near Draco when he either died or became a squib so no one could really blame him. Harry really hoped Draco ended up a squib. He knew if he died he would never have to worry about the blond ponce but Harry also knew that Voldemort would not like one of his death eaters having a squib son and could kill him, along with his parents.

Harry waited a day but he didn't hear anything about Draco. All he knew was Malfoy wasn't at Hogwarts. He hadn't been to any classes nor was he seen in the great hall. Snape glared at him more often or all the time if they happen to be in the same room, like the great hall. Harry knew that the man could not do anything or Dumbledore just might have to get rid of him.

Harry then finally had his first meeting with Dumbledore. He was right, there would be no lessons on spells or learning how to fight. The old man wanted to show him memories, but only one at a time.

'This is ridiculous. Let's set aside the weekend and you can show me all of them then tell me why you are doing this.'

'I will not have time, Harry.'

'Then I won't be coming back. This is a waste of my time when I could be training.'

Albus sighed, 'Fine, I will rearrange a few meetings and let you know.'

'Great. Now I've done some studying. I know you got cursed with a dark curse and it's killing you. How long do you have?'

Albus was not surprised that Harry had found out, 'Sixth to eight months. A year if I'm lucky.'

'How did it happen?'

'I will explain that on the weekend, as it is connected.'

'Alright, I'll see you then,' Harry left the headmaster's office and hurried back to Gryffindor tower. He found Ginny and Neville in the head boy room, studying.

'So, what did he tell you?'

'He showed me a memory of Voldemort, of when he was young. He wanted to show me one at every meeting but said he wasn't sure when the next one would be. I said we'll do them all on the weekend or I won't return to these meetings. It's ridiculous to spread them out when it could be done quickly. I have a lot of studying and training to do, not waste time.'

'That's true, you could be using this time to train.'

'How long was the memory?' Neville asked.

'Fifteen minutes or so, but I noticed the cabinet that he keeps the memories in. Some have more and some less. Either way I doubt any memory would be more than an hour. We could easily do it over a full weekend.'

'You're right, it doesn't make sense to spread them out, especially if he thinks they're important.'

'That's the trouble Neville, I don't really see the need to watch old memories. If they were really important, why doesn't he just tell me what this is all about?'

'It's like with the prophecy, he waited until after you found out and after Sirius,' Ginny said as she took Harry's hand in hers. 'If he just told you then you would know the door you were dreaming about was to the department of mysteries and to the hall of prophecy.'

'He promised me he won't hold back any information again and even though he's showing memories of stuff he feels I need to know, it's a waste of time. Let's just get it over with so I can continue training and find a way to kill the bastard.'

'You don't believe you can, do you Harry?' Neville asked.

'No, he's seventy years old with lots of experience, especially in dark magic. I've got no experience apart from a year learning from Remus. It's why I agreed to the DA in the first place. But anything I can learn, he probably already knows. It makes me wonder if the old man wants me to fail, to die.'

'It is suspicious, especially when he's not teaching you anything that could help you beat him. There's a prophecy that says you have to kill him yet he isn't showing you how or training you how to do it. So, what is he up to?' Ginny asked.

'No idea, but as I said, I don't plan on doing anything his way since I can't trust him. Let's just finish our homework so I can go through the books again.'

Neville left after he had done his homework, leaving Harry and Ginny alone, 'Did he ask you about Malfoy?'

'No, nothing was said about him. We've all noticed he hasn't been seen yet no one is saying if he's dead or gone. Snape just glares at me more and a few times I saw him finger his wand like he wanted to curse me.'

'I haven't been able to find out if he died or not. Even when I used your cloak and map, I couldn't hear anyone in Slytherin talking about him. So, are you still going to with the two sisters?'

'Yes, I just have to do it when I'm seen like I did before. Madam Pince saw me the whole time I was in there. I might do it in transfiguration.'

'McGonagall will tell the truth, we know that. She might not be of much help but she won't lie.'

'No, she won't. I'll do it tomorrow then two more will be dealt with.'

Harry waited until McGonagall explained what they would be learning before he silently called Narcissa Black and Bellatrix Black oath breakers. He then began to read his book and the spell they would be learning. He grinned but he had to force himself to act normally so no one got suspicious. One thing Harry liked when he was in charms or transfiguration, he got the spell first and it caused Hermione to look furious which made her stuff up the spell. Harry always gave her a smirk when that happened.
