Chapter two

While Ginny spoke with her parent's before they left Hogwarts, Harry decided to speak to Dobby about the potion. The little elf said he could get it and popped away. He returned only ten minutes later with five small phials of Felix Felisus he had taken from Slughorn's locked potions cabinet. Harry thanked Dobby but also gave him some money then said he would call him during the holidays. Once Dobby was gone, Harry decided to talk to the twins. He wanted them to put together a package with a lot of there stuff that he might need. He had enough money on him to cover it. Even though the twins didn't want to take his money, Harry talk them into it. They will need to make a lot of stuff that could help against death eaters and Harry might end up needing more.

After the last of the invited guests had left, Harry and Ginny snuck away from everyone and headed to the seventh floor. He explained to Ginny what he had Dobby do, Ginny ended up snogging him for thinking of something that would easily make their lives better.

They found the potions book, but what shocked Harry was finding one of the horcruxes. Ginny had pointed to the diadem then explained how she knew it once belonged to Rowena Ravenclaw.

'So Dumbledore said the diary was one.'

'Yes, when I stabbed it in the hope it would sever the connection between you and Voldemort, I used the fang that I pulled from my arm.'

'Do you still have the fang?'

'No, I left it down there.'

'Maybe we should get it. I mean we don't know how to destroy them, Dumbledore never told you. But we do know the fang worked.'

'Basilisk venom is supposed to be the most powerful venom in the world. Fast acting as well. Okay, we'll sneak down there before dinner. Hopefully Ron and Hermione will believe we're in some broom closet or something.'

Harry looked around and found a bag, he stuffed the diadem and the potions book in it.

'We should come back here right after dinner,' Ginny said looking around.

'Why?'

'I spotted wands and I'm sure there could be things in here that we could use while in hiding. If our wands end up broken, we have back ups, but the trace connects to our wands the moment we get it. If I have another wand then the ministry won't be able to track me, not like they could if I used my wand.'

'So that's how it works. I always wondered. When they knew I cast the patronus charm against those dementors I figured it was because we were in a muggle neighbourhood and I was the only wizard there.'

'No, it's all to do with your wand. They can detect magic if it's powerful and around muggles, that's when they send out obliviators. But I've done magic at the Burrow using mum's wand and I never got a letter or anything. Fred and George always used magic before they were of age, they were good at sneaking mum's wand from her. It was charlie that told me we can use magic as long as it's a wand of someone over seventeen. Anyway, having another wand just gives me a bit of security if they do trace magic and want to check my wand. Also, having spares might be needed in case anything happens to our wands.'

'Okay, I still have six weeks before I'm legally allowed to use magic, so we'll both get another wand, or a few. For now, let's go down to the chamber of secrets. But I want to sneak into Dumbledore's office and get those memories. If for any reason Voldemort ends up here, he can't know that other's know about his horcruxes. I also don't really want anyone knowing the wording of the prophecy. Voldemort tried to get it so he's desperate to hear it, so I want that out of Hogwarts. If he ends up in control, he could have one of his death eaters as headmaster.'

'Then we do that right before we leave, when it's late and everyone is asleep. We can use the map to make sure no one is in or near his office.'

Even though it was hard on Ginny seeing the place that almost cost her life, she helped Harry get not only the fang he used before, they pulled a few other fangs from the dead basilisk and took the venom from the sacks. Once that was done and they cleaned themselves up, they headed to the great hall ready for dinner.

'Where have you two been?' Hermione asked.

'Snogging,' Ginny said, 'I can't get enough of Harry's tongue,' she smirked making Harry chuckle. Ron's ears went red as he turned away. Hermione blushed brightly.

'Hey Neville, do you plan to return to Hogwarts?'

'Yeah, you're not, I knew you probably wouldn't.'

'No, I have things to do. But just in case, the room of requirement. Remember, it just might be useful. Who knows what type of teacher you could end up with for defence. Maybe practicing in there again might be needed.'

'Good idea and those books came in handy. I'll let some of the DA know in case some cause too much trouble.'

'Like the ferret and his lot.'

'Even though he hasn't been seen, he could return, so yeah, we'll work on keeping ourselves safe.'

'He is a death eater and there are probably more that we don't know about,' Harry's brow furrowed, 'I'll speak to you later in the common room, but there is something that just might help. I just can't mention it here in case the wrong person overhears.'

Neville nodded. He knew if Harry had something to tell him then it was probably important. He would find out very soon just what that was.

The moment Harry, Ginny, Neville, Ron, Hermione and other Gryffindor's returned to the tower, Harry explained to Neville about the two tunnels that could get them out of Hogwarts, if it was needed. He explained the password to the one eyed witch statue and how to stop the branches on the whomping willow. Now Harry felt better. If Voldemort and his death eaters attacked Hogwarts, at least the students might have a chance to get away.

While Hermione and Ron were talking, Harry kept talking to Neville. He made sure to tell Neville that he planned to get onto one of the first carriages early in the morning in the hope he could spend as much time with Ginny before they ended up separated. Harry just wanted someone to know he planned to sneak onto a carriage and if they didn't see him then they would realise why. He also said he was hoping to get a compartment on the train so they can have some privacy, at least for a while. He knew some could look for him and Ginny, they would be long gone. He just hoped they could get away and no one gets suspicious until the train arrived at Kings Cross station.

'Well, I'm going to bed, it's been a long day,' Ginny gave Harry a passionate kiss before heading up to her room. She knew she had to stay awake, she also knew she had to make everyone believe she was asleep. As soon as she could, she would be sneaking into Hermione's dorm room to get those books, then she would be helping Harry gather things from the room of requirement and Dumbledore's office. Once they had what they needed, then she was leaving with Harry. Ginny just hoped nothing stopped them getting away. If anyone figured out she was going to leave with Harry, they would stop her and maybe keep her locked up at the Burrow. She wasn't going to let anyone keep her away from Harry.

By the time the Hogwarts express pulled into platform nine and three quarters, Hermione and Ron were beginning to get frustrated. They hadn't been able to find Harry so they could work on their plans to hunt for these dark items Dumbledore told Harry about. Hermione was also frustrated that Harry refused to tell her exactly what the dark items where. He said he would when he knew it was safe, which wasn't at Hogwarts.

Hermione and Ron overheard Neville telling Parvati that Harry and Ginny snuck out early to get some privacy, while they could. Everyone was getting used to Harry and Ginny sneaking off to be alone. Ron didn't like it, but he'd been hexed by his sister too many times whenever he tried to stop Harry and Ginny snogging.

When no one saw Harry and Ginny on the platform, Molly and Arthur searched the train. Ron and his brothers decided to help and hope his sister wasn't doing anything she shouldn't. If Ginny and Harry were using the invisibility cloak then they would need to cast a lot of charms to try to detect them. Hermione's parent's were waiting so she couldn't help them search, but she told Ron she would be at the Burrow for Bill and Fleur's wedding.

Harry had already taken almost all his money out of his vault. He had picked up the shrunken package from the twins and Ginny had bought the tent and other supplies. As soon as they left Diagon alley, they disappeared. But Ginny did have Harry slip a letter to the twins so they could let everyone know she had gone with Harry to help him with the job that Dumbledore gave him. She explained in the letter that Harry just couldn't trust Hermione and Ron to help. Not when Ron always complained about work and how he had abandoned Harry when his name came out of the goblet of fire. She also explained how Hermione had called Harry a cheat and a liar and refused to listen to his ideas, as she always believed she was right. She refuse to believe Harry about Malfoy taking the dark mark, yet he was involved in Dumbledore's death. Harry had stopped trusting his two friends and this was too important to spend time with people he didn't trust and that would also fight all the time. That was the last thing Harry needed. He needed someone he could trust and someone he could talk to and so far the only person Harry trusted was Ginny. Harry did trust Sirius, but his godfather was gone, which meant Ginny would be the only one Harry would talk to.

They knew the order would argue that Harry should trust them, but he didn't. He saw them as Dumbledore's sheep. He didn't trust any of them and barely tolerated them when they had been stuck at Grimmauld place. He did like Arthur, Bill and Charlie, along with the twins, but they still followed Dumbledore.

'Okay, we got away and we're hiding in muggle London, at least for now.'

'So we can work on some plans without having to worry about being overheard by any death munches,' Ginny said.

'Right. we've tested the wands and no letter or ministry people turned up. So we know we can at least use magic if we need it. We need to work on a place that we can store supplies.'

'No, we can keep everything with us. When I went to get the books from Hermione, she had them in a little bag. I worked out she put an undetectable expansion charm on the bag along with a feather light charm. All we need to do is buy a couple of bags then charm them.'

'Why didn't I think of that,' Harry sighed as he ran his fingers through his hair.

'You've had enough on your mind Harry. It's so stupid and irresponsible for the old man to put all this on you. But what I don't get is why he didn't work on having you trained to fight if it's supposed to come down to you to end…Voldemort.'

'Since you're not comfortable saying Voldemort, we'll call him Riddle. Also, if we get overheard then the name Riddle won't be suspicious.'

'Okay, I can say Riddle, that's easy. I can't say his first name, not after the diary.'

'Yeah, I get that which is why I suggested Riddle. Alright, and I might do the same since it will be safer if we're out somewhere. Now Dumbledore, I believe I figured out some of his plans, at least for me, and they aren't good. First is the prophecy. My parent's went into hiding after they were told of the prophecy. Now Sirius didn't know what the prophecy said, just that Dumbledore told my parent's. So after my parent's died, it would make the most sense to keep me with him or give me to someone he trusted then train me from a young age if he believed the prophecy still needed to be fulfilled. If it was fulfilled that night then yeah, I could go anywhere, but he said I'm the one that has to kill him so it wasn't fulfilled. Okay, Riddle was gone, but Dumbledore didn't believe he was dead, even back then. Sending me to the muggles makes no sense if the prophecy was still in play. Yes, it stopped the ministry from interfering. Malfoy or any of the other death munches could have easily talked the old minister into them taking me, just so they could kill me. Being sent to family did stop that. But again, he could have worked some plans to make the ministry believe I was with family but I was really with someone who could train me, like Mad-eye Moody. He could have kept me hidden at Hogwarts or somewhere else then have someone train me. After he said to me that he knew he was leaving me to ten dark and difficult years, tells me he knew exactly what type of life I had with the Dursley's. I have a feeling that he didn't expect me to survive.'

Ginny's eyes widen as she realised what Harry was saying. Dumbledore expected or hoped Harry would die. She wondered if that was the reason behind all the dangerous situations Harry found himself in. It seems their talk was about to get more serious than she expected it to be.
