Chapter four
Arthur had called an emergency meeting of the order of the phoenix. He explained how Harry and Ginny had disappeared, but he had Ron explain that Dumbledore had given Harry a job to do. Ron couldn't tell them what the job was, only something about finding dark items and Dumbledore said it had to be Harry and he was allowed to tell Ron and Hermione, who could help. It seems Harry decided he wanted Ginny with him and not his two best friends.
Molly and Arthur were worried since Voldemort and his death eaters wouldn't hesitate to torture or kill Ginny if they found her with Harry. Now they just hoped the order found them and get them back to the Burrow. The adults needed to find ways to deal with Voldemort, it shouldn't be up to children. As of right now, the adults had no idea why Albus Dumbledore told Harry it had to be him, when he wasn't even an adult yet.
The following day Harry was able to get his eyes tested. He needed a new prescription. Harry ordered a heap of contacts. He told them he was planning on going overseas on a very long holiday. Harry also got another pair of glasses, in case of an emergency. These looked completely different from his old ones. He had to return in a week to pick them up, so Harry and Ginny decided to get information on hotels and camp grounds in the United Kingdom. Harry told Ginny that using camp grounds would keep them hidden as well because when Ron, Hermione and Harry spoke about where they would stay during the hunt for the dark items, they mentioned using the tent but making sure they were isolated so they would stay in places like forests. Harry didn't think anyone would look for them in a proper muggle camp ground. They also decided to get some maps of Great Britain and study them, which could help.
So with their different coloured hair and no glasses, make up to cover his scar, Harry and Ginny knew no would ever recognise Harry Potter. Which meant they could stay hidden and hopefully destroy the horcruxes which could eventually lead to the end of Voldemort.
Over the next few weeks Harry and Ginny would stay at different camp grounds as well as the odd hotel. Harry had an idea about keeping some of their stuff in a different place in case they ever got separated. Neither thought they would, but they also knew anything could happen when Voldemort was after you.
Harry figured he could use the cave in Hogsmeade to hide some of their money along with a couple of wands they had for spares. They decided not to use magic to dig a hole in case someone ended up in there and did any type of detection spells to see if magic had been used. They made sure it didn't look disturbed but they also put a couple of large stones on it but tried to make it look natural. Now Harry felt better. Harry also decided to rent a small storage shed in Birmingham. So even though it was bigger than what he need, now both Harry and Ginny knew they had supplies hidden in two very different places. Harry made sure the two keys for the storage shed were on chains and kept around their necks. If for any reason they did get separated the other would know where to get money and a wand. After melting down a heap of galleons and sickles, they ended up with a lot more money. Money that would keep them going for years, if it came to that.
The order of the phoenix continued to work against Voldemort and his death eaters, but they also tried to find Harry and Ginny. They weren't having much luck with either. Now that Voldemort had control of the ministry and Hogwarts, most of the order were in hiding, but so were many others. Some people left England especially muggleborns who would end up in camps or Azkaban if they were caught.
So far Hermione stayed in hiding at the Burrow, but she was going stir crazy because she couldn't go out in case she was seen. Molly had tried to stop her working against Voldemort, like she did with Ron. But as Hermione said, she was an adult and she had been told by Dumbledore that her and Ron were to help Harry. The prophecy was about Harry and Voldemort.
Ron and Hermione had told the order about the prophecy even if they couldn't tell them exactly what it said, only that Dumbledore told Harry he was the one to end Voldemort. They did mentioned the job and how they had to find dark items that Dumbledore told Harry and he had to destroy them. But Hermione was still furious that Harry snuck away but he also didn't tell them what these items were or why they had to be destroyed.
Even though Ron and Hermione were finally a couple, Ron was getting sick and tired of Hermione always making their decisions. Finally he went to his father and two older brothers. Even though Ron had already told the order that Harry had to find dark items, he did hear Harry and Ginny talking about how many they had to find, six, yet two was already destroyed. Arthur decided to speak with a few order members who he knew to be completely trustworthy. He figured they just might know something about these items. Kingsley and Mad-eye were senior aurors and they did study dark magic, it was so they knew how to counter it. He also spoke with Remus, he was involved in the original order of the phoenix and he was a werewolf. He may just be able to find some information on what dark items Voldemort had and why they would need to be destroyed because they couldn't kill Voldemort while they were still around.
When Arthur first explained what Ron told him, they all said the same thing. Albus should not have put this on Harry, who wasn't even an adult. He might be turning seventeen soon but this was dark magic and kids shouldn't have anything to do with dark magic. They also thought since Albus was killed, it was reckless that he only told Harry about this when it meant all their lives were in danger if they couldn't kill Voldemort and there was a big chance Harry could be killed. Even though they all admired Albus Dumbledore, right now they were disappointed. They realised he didn't trust them, he never trusted them. Yet the person who murdered Albus, Snape, was the one Albus did trust, which cost him his life and may have cost the war. They did speak with Minerva to ask her to talk to Albus's portrait, he might be able to tell them what Harry was doing and then they could help. She explained that Albus' portrait was missing, it went missing the night after his memorial. She had no idea where it was or who took it.
As the weeks turned into months, the order wasn't making much progress. With Voldemort in control it was getting harder to leave the enchantments around their homes. There were a lot of discussions about leaving the country, but most wanted to get as many innocent people to leave as well. With Hogwarts now under control of Voldemort, it meant that a lot of innocent children were inside the castle. None of the adults felt right about leaving when it meant leaving the students. They did contact Minerva and ask if she could somehow get the students away from Hogwarts, without putting the students in danger, or herself. She said she would see what she could do, but could make no promises.
Harry was in the kitchen of the cabin making dinner while Ginny was studying the dark arts books that belonged to Albus Dumbledore. Ginny admitted that she could make some basic foods, but she hadn't learned a lot. Her mother used to get her to help, but not actually cook. Ginny said her mother planned to teach her when she was a little older, but before she got married so she would know how to look after her family.
Molly Weasley didn't believe woman should work. Ginny on the other hand wanted to play professional quidditch, if the war with Voldemort was ever over. She knew if they ended up leaving the country she may be able to play, right now quidditch was the last thing on her mind. So Harry did most of the cooking, he explained to Ginny that the Dursley's would make him cook. Even though he hated it at the time, it was mainly because he never got a lot of the food he prepared.
'Gin, dinner,' Harry called as he placed everyone on the table. When he sat down he realised his girlfriend was still sitting, reading, 'Ginny, is something wrong?'
'No, well, I don't think so, but I'm trying to work something out.'
'Explain soon, eat now. We said that, eat while we can in case something happens.'
'Alright,' Ginny got up and headed to the table, 'It could be important, I'm just not sure.'
'You can explain soon.'
'Okay,' Ginny began to eat by she was distracted, 'Why haven't you destroyed the diadem yet?'
'Is that what's bugging you?'
'No, not really, I'm just curious. If we get caught, then they find that, we've lost our chance.'
'I know, it's risky but I'm hoping if we had one piece of his soul, a physical item, it just might helps us find the others. I know it hasn't helped yet and I'm not even sure it will. I suppose it really is dangerous to keep it. It's a shame, that thing is a thousand years old and belonged to one of the founders.'
'So apart from hoping it could help find others, you also don't want to destroy something that belongs to a founder.'
'Yeah, it just feels wrong. I know we've put a lot of protection charms on that box, but it is a risk. We should destroy it.'
'Let's give it a bit longer. So far we haven't seen or heard of any trouble. We move around a lot and we don't look like ourselves. We could bury it somewhere, like here, in the muggle world. That way at least we're not carrying it around. If we do get caught they don't find it either. But the diadem could help with what I was just reading.'
'Burying it might be an idea. But finish eating then you can explain. Oh I did want to ask if you've spoken with Dobby at all in the last day or two?'
'No, he knows we'll call him but he likes the idea that he can help the students at Hogwarts.'
'I get why Neville is staying, he is helping the younger ones that can't just leave. But I still think they should just get away from Hogwarts. I am glad that we thought of Dobby and sent him to Hogwarts to help. Since Dumbledore gave him a job, no one will be suspicious of him. And he knows to be careful. Okay, I might call him tomorrow just to check in. I just want to make sure none of those kids have been killed.'
'We can't blame ourselves Harry, we're doing what we can. Dumbledore had years and he only found one. We've only just started.'
'I know, I just can't help worrying and hoping no one dies. I know people will, that's what happens when there's a war.'
Harry and Ginny finished eating, but they were both lost in their thoughts. One thing that both of them couldn't stop thinking about was how to get the piece of soul out of Harry. No matter what they were doing, that was always on their minds.
