Chapter 2

"We go to Terra's castle and defeat the rebel alliances, of course", Makoto said, punching her fist into her palm.

Her friends nodded in agreement and got ready to teleport. But queen Serenity put her palm up to stop them before they called out the command, "Endymion needs to eat first." she said

"The longer we wait, the less chance we will have of saving the Shittenou," Ami said in a determined voice.

The Senshi nodded at each other, took each other's hands circling Serenity and Endymion, and called out, "Sailor teleport."

They were gone. All Queen Serenity could do now was to go to the prayer room and pray for their safe return.

On Earth

Serenity's eyes popped open as the darkness of teleportation blinked into a brutal winter wind. She tried to look in every direction, as Master Kenji had taught her. "Where is this place?" she asked, not entirely certain.

"It has no name," Endymion said. "We have heard many say it is where desolation finds you. Kunzite," he paused, clearing his throat, fist clenching on the hilt of his sword. "Kunzite called it Desolation's Point, because nothing grows here, and nothing wild dares to enter."

Serenity nodded, looking to Ami, who had her scanner out and was looking impatiently at the screen. "I see an entrance, less than three hundred yards, just around the edge of the bluff," Mercury said, her eyes widening as she looked up at the princess. "We can't get through!"

"I don't understand, " Mars said, sparks emerging from her fingertips. One hand clutched the red-hilted dagger on her thigh. It had been a gift from Jadeite. "We can fight whatever monsters they throw at us."

Mercury turned the scanner around, showing the screen to the others. "They've made a human wall," she said, her voice breaking on the last word. "Any attacks we throw will hurt the innocents, and leave those creatures Beryl created free to attack us."

"So what can we do?" Makoto asked, her eyes trained on the massive opening between cliff walls. Her hands moved towards the double swords she carried. Her husband's gift to her. "If we harm innocents, we are no better than the darkness we fight."

"We sneak in," Endymion answered. "But first we need a plan, and perhaps someone who has been inside that fortress to guide us."

"Who?" Minako asked, her eyes trained on the princess, her hand clenched around the Holy Sword. "Who can lead us through that?"

"No one," Serenity said sadly.

"There must be a way!" Mars said angrily, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"What about Agate?" Endymion asked. "If we could capture him, we could convince him to help us. I'm sure of it."

"I thought he was dead," Jupiter murmured. "Where would he be?"

"He has been seen at a tavern near the town where his mother lived. Jadeite said he hasn't left there since the night Beryl killed their family. He had someone watching him."

"So, let's go get him," Makoto said impatiently.

"Okay, we get Agate, then sneak in somehow, save the guys, free Beryl, and then fight Metalia," Rei said, staring at the taller woman. "How?" She asked, trying to pull Mako from the emotions that were overwhelming her sense.

Jupiter sighed, bowed her head, and closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She had just opened them when something flew into their circle, piercing the Mercury computer and knocking it from the stunned Senshi's hand.

Serenity cried out in pain, and when she looked down there was something piercing her side. It looked like a vine, hardened to a point, and while it had missed anything vital, the shock of it brought her to her senses.

Lifting the staff of the princess, a scepter imbued by the Pink Moon Crystal, she cried out, "Pink Moon Princess Protection Dome!"

"Serenity," Endymion breathed, reaching out to remove the offending shaft so that he could heal her. But when he tugged on it, the princess screamed, white hot agony filling her side as barbs that faced back dug in and tore at her flesh. He swore angrily at himself. There was nothing he could do without causing her further harm.

"This is beyond my skill to remove unaided," he said softly. "These arrows are made so that no matter which way you pull, they would cause further damage. I need a healer to hold her while I remove it."

A sound tore his gaze from Serenity's side to her face, which was more pale than he had ever seen it. He turned, following her gaze, and nearly lost what little food he had eaten the night before. An army of Youma had amassed themselves on the cliffs above them. The monsters alone startled him, but it was what they had hung over the side of the cliff that made him scream with rage.

"Metalia!"

His four men, who he had known since infancy, were hanging over the edge of the cliff like poor parodies of puppets. Their heads had been removed and placed on spikes being carried by several of the Youma.

"You're too late," a hissing voice whispered. "Look to your Princess," the voice continued.

Endymion did, and gasped, for her skin looked nearly translucent and her eyes had taken on a feverish look. "Serenity," he breathed.

Minako turned from her husband to look at Serenity, and before Endymion knew what was happening, he found himself once more in the circle of the throne room, before a kind queen. This time, he called for help, not just for her, but for the four Senshi who looked like lifeless shells of their former selves. Only Minako moved, woodenly at first, her only thought to help Serenity.

"We need a healer" Mercury's voice was so broken that the queen wanted to weep with her.

Queen Serenity nodded as she looked to her daughter who looked to be on the brink but she couldn't die now she still had Beryl to face, and her part of the prophecy to fulfil. She called for all the healers to come to Serenity's rooms to heal her. By the looks of the arrow, it must be soon.

When the princess finally awoke she felt better and safe. She looked up and found she was in the arms of her Endymion tear tracks were still fresh on his cheeks and he looked so poorly. Serenity thought that with seeing with her own eyes that the shittenou and the king were dead there was only him left. Only him holding together what was left of the earth. She choked on a sob and knew she would have to be strong enough for both of them.

Desolation point deep in the chambers

Four men of equal rank were fighting with the voices in their heads they were good people they had lovers and a prince to protect they, they were good people

Metalia was getting aggravated these boys shouldn't have been as strong as they were they should have already been ready to kill whatever stood in their way "stupid soul bonds" she hissed pulsing more black magic into them why couldn't they have fallen like Beryl and her useless brother she could have been well on her way to decimating the universe by now.
