When Joker tells about his family on Tiptree though, the hairline crack inside her breaks.

It is two years since the events of Mass Effect 3. In this 'what-if' scenario, Shepard survived the detonation of the Crucible and Garrus finds out what it means to be a father...a father to the first ever turian-human hybrid. This is simply what I envision as a happy ending to and for any fan of the Shepard/Garrus pairing available in the game series. This is a One-Shot.

This fic primarily serves to fill in Samantha Traynor's background and give life to her character. Much will be left of canon. The second chapter is up and takes place 3 months after the attack on Horizon. Summary will be updated to reflect the progression of the story. May or may not be FShep/Traynor - I haven't decided! What lies on the other side, nobody knows, but Commander Shepard is determined to find out. With her gamble comes a chance encounter coated in a thousand shades of blue.

After a night of drinking with Garrus, Shepard wakes up with some explaining to do to Liara.
