Set immediately at the conclusion of Episode 11 in Season 4 ("The Hunter's Heart"). The evil sorcerer restrains Merlin's power and takes his place in Camelot, intent on causing the destruction of his rival and the king he serves. Will Merlin be able to save himself when he is condemned to hang?

Arthur discovers Merlin's secret and confronts him. Set after 'The Drawing of the Dark' (S05E11), but sets things up for a different ending to the series, and behaviour is arguably OOC, so A/U. Contains spoilers. Rated 'T' for minor coarse language. One-shot.

Started as a series of drabbles, now a full length fic about Merlin and Freya's love for each other, and their journey to free Freya from the curse she's under.

After almost eight years of being Arthur's manservant and friend, Merlin was pretty certain that he'd seen almost everything and that nothing could truly surprise him anymore.
