The first of two short stories, both look at alternate endings to the BBC legend - After one thousand, five hundred years, Merlin lives alone in the shadows of Avalon, where one day, something unexpected happens. Perhaps, sometimes it is arrogant to believe we can change Fate...and so we fail.

My first story, really was something I just had to get out of my head. It doesn't make alot of sense and I don't know what series it would fit into, sorry. If you guys like it then I've thought of a whole story for it, otherwise I will leave it. Reviews welcome :)

Nimueh is bought back from the dead and helps Morgana attempt to take over Camelot. Only Merlin can stop them.

Arthur can't get Mordred out of his head. The druid boy couldn't do any wrong in his eyes, he was perfect. Arthur didn't realise how wrong he could be.

Arthur and Merlin are called to investigate a cave that has been revealed by a landslide, but there is something mysterious awaiting them there. Canon compliant to season 5 episode 8, not many spoilers but please don't read if you don't like spoilers.

"I don't want you to change. I want you... to always... be you" So Merlin doesn't change.

Morgana has captured Arthur and his servant again but, this time, Merlin has reached the end of his tether. (Written for 'The Holiday Exchange' (Secret Santa) at The Heart of Camelot fansite.

Before Mordred fell, he smiled one last time. He wanted to say thank you, but he didn't know how to. And then he collapsed.

He's been sitting by the lake for days, staring across the smooth water and wondering how the sun can still shine and the wind can still blow as if the whole world hadn't been turned upside down and inside out. *spoilers for 5x13*

In which Arthur asks Merlin for some advice before his first night with Gwen, and finds out some things he wishes he hadn't. Rated M for blatant references.

Tale after Merlin's finale. One where Merlin awaits for his king to return to him. But what will become of the two when they are finally reunited? Will Arthur remember him? And if so, will the two understand and accept the intense feelings that have been dormant for the last thousand years?

Arthur, surprisingly less dense than usual, suspects that Merlin did something during their game of dice, even if he can't quite put his finger on what it was. Merlin, for his part, insists he's imagining things. Set in episode 12, T for mild slash!

Merlin finally sees Arthur again.

Merlin is distraught over having to make it to Avalon in two days' time. Gaius has a solution.

Waiting is pain. Living forever is a curse. Merlin has lived too alone for too long. While he waits for his King to return, it might be nice to have some company. And possibly closure.

Ficlet of a headcanon I have. Based off of the last episode of Merlin, so spoilers. Read at your lesiure, and leave a review if you like. I own nothing. Basically, it is the return of Arthur. Read more to find out.

An alternative ending to the series. Guinevere dies in the battle, but Arthur survives. Merlin's magic is revealed, and he is sentenced to death. Arthur wants him to flee, and helps him escape. Merlin then moves to a neighbouring kingdom, with Arthur's promise to find him again echoing in his head. Warning for Merthur and "gay" romance (love is love, no matter gender). One-shot.

An alternate ending for 'The Diamond of the Day Part 2'. When all seems lost, an unexpected solution presents itself.

It is Christmas evening and Arthur has thrown a party. Percival arrives late and despite the women wanting his attention, he only has eyes for one. Sequel to Christmas morning.

Merlin has wandered the world for so many long painful years, waiting and yearning for the day Arthur would return and destiny would come full circle. It seems as though that day is finally here.
