Chapter two
While Harry was putting away his clothes, he thought about Dumbledore and Snape, it made him curious if they had been taken care of. He knew they would be, eventually, if they haven't lost their souls yet. He was just happy that he wouldn't have to put up with them anymore. He only wanted them out of the way before he sent the dementors after Voldemort. He might be master of dementors, but he didn't want innocent people dying or getting kissed. He also wanted this war over before it could begin. Because of what was being written in the Daily Prophet, Harry plans to have the dementors deal with them as well. First he needed to know who believed Harry was lying and who was just ordered to write the trash they had been, apart from Rita Skeeter. She might not be able to lie about Harry since Hermione caught her in her animagus form, but Harry knew what Rita was like, she would find a way. She could have someone publish her story using their name, or she could be using a fake name. She would be one that he would take care of, eventually.
'Now that you're done with your unpacking, let's go down and have a cup of tea.'
'I haven't had breakfast yet. I planned to after I finished shopping. Can I call Dobby?'
'Is that the elf you told me about?'
'Yep and even though he did enjoy being free, he realised his magic wasn't as strong. He asked if I would be his master. I agreed but since I never had a home he had to stay at Hogwarts, for now.'
'What do you mean you never had a home,' Sirius asked as they stepped into the kitchen.
'When the Dursley's place certainly wasn't my home. I was just forced to stay there. So many times I figured I should just leave and let the authorities put me in an orphanage or something. It would have been better than putting up with that lot. Anyway, Dobby,' Harry called and the excitable elf popped in hugging Harry's legs.
'Master Harry finally called Dobby.'
'Yeah, I did. I'll be staying here Dobby with my godfather. I figured you might like to stay with me.'
'Dobby serve master Harry and his dogfather.'
Sirius chuckled, 'I am that Dobby. A warning though. There is a nasty old elf here but as you can see by the state of this place, he doesn't do anything. Even though you now belong to my godson, I would like to pay you to help clean this place up. I see you like to wear hats and socks. Maybe you could use that money for more clothes.'
'Master Harry's dogfather is kind to Dobby, Dobby agrees.'
'Great. For now, can you make Harry some breakfast?'
'Master Harry should have had breakfast by now.'
'I was busy, then I was brought here before I could,' Harry shrugged as he sat down next to Sirius.
'So you felt the dementors and went back to the house?'
'I was in the street behind when I felt them so I just climbed over the fence and straight into the house and packed my stuff. I figured if dementors were in a muggle neighbourhood then they were looking for me, unless there were other witches and wizards living in the area.'
'Only a squib as far as I know. There were order members who were keeping an eye on you to make sure no death eaters found out where you were living.'
'I never saw anyone nor did anyone try to stop me leaving. So there's a squib in Little Whinging?'
'Yes, Arabella Figg.'
'The old mad cat later the Dursley's used to dump me at when they wanted to go out?' Harry growled.
'She was told to keep an eye on you but not let you know she knew about us.'
'She never even told me about this world when I was stuck at her place being bored to tears having to look at pictures of her cats, past and present. So the old man put her there?'
Sirius grinned, 'Yep, right after you were placed there. Now though,' Sirius looked up at Remus and mad-eye, 'Did you two notice wards around the muggles house?'
'Yes, why?' Remus asked.
'Albus said as long as Harry could call that place home the wards would keep him safe,' Sirius turned to Harry.
'I never felt like it was a home and I never called that place home. Before I went to Hogwarts I called it hell. When I got to Hogwarts and had to return to that house I called it Durskaban,' Harry shrugged, 'They told me enough times that it wasn't my home, so no, not once did I think of that place as home. He also mentioned they were linked to blood right?'
'Yes, Albus explained the wards to the order,' Alastor said.
'Well, Voldemort has my blood running through his veins, so they wouldn't stop him if he turned up. The old man has lied to me before and I've heard him lie to others so it doesn't surprise me that Dumbledork lied to all of you.'
Dobby put food in front of Harry along with a cup of tea, then a cup of tea for Sirius.
'Thanks Dobby,' Harry gave the little elf a smile before he began to eat, 'Great Dobby, as always,' he smiled again before finishing off his breakfast.
'Sounds like you don't like Albus,' Remus said.
'I don't, I don't like any of the staff of Hogwarts. I only have to put up with them for another couple of years then I will never see them again,' Harry turned to Sirius, 'I found something out, something that will make you furious and want to go kill but you have to stay here so I've got some family I can count on.'
'I'm not going anywhere, so what did you find out?'
'The goblins explained about my other vault. I had no idea I had a family vault. Anyway, I went to get money out of my normal vault so I could finally get some decent clothes. Then I went to the family vault. I only planned to look around see what was in there. I almost broke down when I saw two wands sitting there with my parent's names on the boxes. Anyway, there were letters addressed to me and you. I'll give you yours when we go upstairs. But in one of the letters for me my parents explained about the prophecy, how me or Voldemort has to kill the other one. They also wrote that Voldemort was told the first part of the prophecy by a death eater who overheard it being told to the old man in the Hogs Head pub. The death eater was caught and chucked out before he heard all of it. The date on the letter was three months before they died. The death eater who sent Voldemort after me and my parent's was Snape.'
It was instant, Sirius jumped up growling like an angry dog. Harry wrapped his arms around Sirius and held him tight.
'This is what I meant Sirius. If you went after him someone could find you and then you'd be kissed. You're the only family I have Padfoot, I can't lose you.'
Sirius stopped struggling then wrapped his arms around his godson, 'You're right, I won't lose you Harry, not again.'
'Harry?'
Harry kept his arms around Sirius as he turned to look at Remus, 'Yeah.'
'James never said anything about a prophecy or Snape.'
'He was put under a secrecy oath, but it didn't mean they couldn't write it to me since I was right there with them when it was discussed. So in a way I was already told even if I was a baby, so they weren't breaking the oath. As I was a baby I couldn't take the oath which is why I can talk about it. They expected me to know about the other vault since Sirius was supposed to raise me. In the event that something happened to Sirius then I was supposed to go to the Longbottom or the Bones family,' Harry turned back to Sirius, 'But in their will they said I was never to go to Petunia and one of their witnesses was Dumbledore.'
'So he decided to just ignore what your parent's wanted for you. Wait until I see that man.'
'Let's just forget about it. I won't ever be going back there so I'll be here with you from now on. Since we know what Fudge has been writing and how the sheep will listen to him I'm not returning to Hogwarts so it'll be up to you to get me up to scratch so I can still take my owls and newts.'
'Why don't you want to return to Hogwarts?' Alastor asked.
'After the way almost the whole school turned against me when my name came out of the goblet of fire and when they found out I'm a parselmouth, no, never again will I put up with that. Then add to that all the times I almost died. Also, all I want to do is kill Snape and I just might if I end up there. But I was taken by a portkey, which could easily happen again. The staff are useless and apart from three classes, we don't learn anything useful. I could learn double of that here with just Sirius and pass with better results. Anyway, I'll get that letter for you.'
'I'm not up to reading it just yet, so put it on my bed, I'll read it later.'
Harry nodded then hurried up the stairs to the room he would now be using, probably for a long time.
Hestia and Arthur stepped into the kitchen, 'The dementors also got Vernon, Petunia and
Marge Dursley,' Hestia said.
Before anyone could say anything Kingsley and Tonks hurried inside, 'Fudge and Umbridge was kissed. But we found the paperwork from them that sent the dementors after Harry,' Kingsley said, 'I took that to Director Bones.'
'Just as we got there she got word that Lucius, Narcissa and Draco Malfoy had been kissed as well,' Tonks said, 'Is Harry okay?'
'Yes, he felt the dementors and left, quickly, went straight to the Leaky Cauldron. But he told us something that let us know he was never safe at the muggles,' Sirius said, 'Voldemort used Harry's blood in the ritual, so Voldemort could have passed straight through the wards.'
'But won't the wards protect him as long as he's with family?' Tonks said.
'As I told this lot, they weren't family and I've never thought of them as family. I hated them as much as they hated me.'
'Harry said he called that place Durskaban and hell,' Remus said.
'If Potter's heart truly felt like that then the wards would not stop Voldemort and I doubt they would stopped a death eater,' Alastor said.
'We sent word to Albus but he hasn't answered yet,' Remus said, 'He is probably at the ministry trying to get someone in the minister's position before one of Voldemort's supporters get there.'
'We'll head back there now and let him know what else happened,' Kingsley, Tonks, Hestia and Mad-eye left.
'What else happened?' Harry asked as he sat down.
'Your aunt and uncle were also kissed along with Vernon's sister,' Sirius wasn't surprised when all Harry did was shrug, 'The three Malfoy's were kissed as well. But they found out that the minister and his undersecretary ordered the dementors to Surrey to kiss you, they were also kissed.'
'Do you think Voldemort already controls them?'
'He can't otherwise the Malfoy's wouldn't have been kissed. But keeping Fudge in as minister was actually helping him. Having him kissed works against him,' Remus said.
'You make sense. So who ordered them to kiss that lot? Unless he lost control of them and they just went after anyone they wanted.'
'I doubt we will find out.' Sirius said.
'I'm sure Albus will be trying to find out, if he's at the ministry. Are you sure you don't want to return to Hogwarts?' Remus asked.
'Positive. I'm sick of being put in danger every year and the staff just sit on the arses and do nothing. Then there is a chance that Voldemort could get one of the kids of death eaters to slip me a portkey. I've already been kidnapped from Hogwarts, it would be easy to do it again. Now I know about this prophecy, I know Voldemort won't stop until he kills me or I kill him.'
'Harry's right Moony, it would be too easy for one of them to get to Harry.'
'Yes, after what happened at the end of the third task he could easily be taken again. I might go see if I can dig up anything. I'll be back later, hopefully with news.'
'It's not like I can go anywhere Moony. But maybe now Fudge is out of the picture the new minister might be willing to give me a trial.'
'I'm sure Albus, Kingsley and the others will work on that as well.'
For the rest of the day Sirius asked Harry more about his life at the Dursley's as well as what type of things had been happening at Hogwarts. By the time Harry had finished telling his godfather everything, Sirius knew Harry would be better off away from Hogwarts and away from the children of death eaters.
