Chapter six

Harry grinned as he was hugged and kissed on the cheek by Luna, hugged by Neville and shyly hugged by Susan and Hannah. They sat down and he explained more about his reasons for staying away, the other four thought Harry did the right thing. So far nothing had changed apart from the fact they had a better potions teacher.

'So did Hermione get to be prefect?'

'Yes, and she's driving us all barmy,' Neville said with a groan.

'So who got the prefect for the boy's, you or Dean?'

Neville scowled, 'No, it should have gone to you but I found out he was given the badge before any of us knew you weren't returning.'

'Not Seamus, he had as many detentions as me and Ron.'

'No, Ron got it.'

'You're fucking kidding me. He has the worst scores out of all the Gryffindor's in our year. Out of the entire students in our year only Crabbe and Goyle have worse than Ron.'

'That's why most of us don't care how many points we lose, we refuse to listen to Ron and keep saying he should never have been a prefect.'

'It's the same in Ravenclaw, the two who got to be prefects aren't the two with the best scores, but they do have connections at the ministry,' Luna said.

'I was offered, I turned it down. I know of three other girls who deserved it more than me, but I am the minister's niece,' Susan said.

'I think they only gave it to me because Susan is my best friend. I'm thinking of turning in my badge,' Hannah said.

'What about the Slytherin's?'

'Parkinson for the girls and Nott for the boy's,' Luna said.

'Both children of death eaters. What is McGonagall doing?'

'None of us know, but as we said, nothing much has changed,' Neville said.

'I wrote to Aunty, I wanted to find out if she could get the governors to do something, especially about the way some Slytherin's act and treat others. She said she would see what she could do, but she was busy at the moment. I really don't blame you for staying away, I would if I could keep being taught,' Susan said.

'Same here,' Hannah said.

Neville and Luna both said the same. It gave Harry an idea, first he would need to speak with Sirius and Remus.

'So you want us to take on four extra students?' Sirius asked.

'Yes, they would learn from you but also wouldn't be bullied, like Luna, harassed like Neville, or just put in danger from the Slytherin's. With who McGonagall made prefect, tells me she's lost it as well. I mean Ron has the worst test scores in Gryffindor and is in the last three out of our year. Neville or Dean should have been offered the spot. Also, with Hermione and her attitude, she's got everyone against her and now Gryffindor are last in points since all the lions ignore her. Neville said they even told the new first years to ignore Ron and Hermione, to talk to them or some of older students instead, but most are talking to Katie who was the prefect last year. But they are still being harassed and bullied. Luna has had all her stuff taken, they ruin her homework so now she doesn't bother, which means more points lost but it's also affecting her education.'

'I saw the way Luna was treated by the other Ravenclaw's, which told me even Filius isn't doing his job,' Remus said, 'I think we should take them on Sirius, also, you can explain why. If you talk to Madam Bones then she will begin working on making Hogwarts better especially if her niece had to leave. Dumbledore proved he wasn't helping students, it seems Minerva is doing the exact same.'

When Sirius saw the big smile on his godson's face, he realised how much Harry wanted this. Sirius also realised it would be good for Harry to have his friends here. It also might make people like McGonagall, Flitwick and Sprout realise that they should have done things differently. They lost the-boy-who-lived, now they were going to lose the minister's niece, along with two other students who were related to important ministry members.

Sirius sent a letter to Madam Bones to explain their idea and how Susan, Hannah, Neville and Luna wanted to leave Hogwarts. The minister decided to set up a meeting with the parent or guardian of the others along with Sirius and Remus so they could get everything out in the open.

While Sirius and Remus were in their meeting, Harry had been talking to Neville using the mirrors. Sirius explained about the ones that belonged to him and James Potter but he made another set for Harry and Neville. Neville explained that Hermione was so frustrated that no one would listen to her, she complained to McGonagall. When McGonagall spoke with all the Gryffindor's, they all said they didn't care if they lost every point or ended up in detention, they were not going to listen to Hermione sprout off ridiculous and unfair laws that represses them. But also because she was trying to turn them all into muggles by following the way muggles do things. They also said Ron was hopeless so they refused to listen to him as well. All the Gryffindor's, apart from Ron and Hermione ended up in detention. But what shocked the staff was, none of them turned up and when threatened with being expelled, they all said they didn't care as they had tutors already lined up, with permission from the minister for magic.

It was only a few days later that the minister, along with Augusta Longbottom, Xenophilius Lovegood and the Abbotts arrived at Hogwarts to inform the headmistress that Susan, Neville, Hannah and Luna were leaving Hogwarts and learning from tutors since it seemed the staff were still allowing bullies to run rampant and giving rewards to those that don't deserve it.

By the end of the month, three quarters of Gryffindor students had left, along with half the Hufflepuff's and the same with Ravenclaw. Almost all of them were now being taught by Remus, Sirius, but also Augusta Longbottom and Sandra Abbott were tutoring the teenagers. The younger kids were taught by Harry, Neville, Luna, Hannah, Susan, Angelina, Katie and Alicia. This gave the adults enough time to teach the third years and up in every subject. All subject were covered apart from divination, astronomy and care of magical creatures. Remus and Sandra Abbott both received O in their ancient runes and arithmancy tests. Augusta received o in every subject apart from charms, so she concentrated in transfiguration, while Sirius taught defensive and offensive magic, along with charms. Neville was the one teaching herbology since he was a prodigy in that subject but Harry helped out with defence since he was just a natural at it.

The governors finally had to do something as they realised that Hogwarts could close. They had to keep a certain number of students at Hogwarts, which right now it was under.

Sirius, Remus, Amelia along with Harry, Susan, Neville, Luna and Hannah all sat in a meeting with the governors and explained the situation. The moment one of the governors said that pure-bloods had more rights than half-bloods and muggleborns, he was sacked, along with three other governors. Things were changing in the ministry and now they will in Hogwarts.

The following morning, Sirius and Remus had been asked to another meeting with Amelia and the governors. Harry and the rest of the tutored students had the day off, Harry spent it with his friends and his now girlfriend, Susan Bones.

When Sirius and Remus arrived back at the house, they caught Harry and Susan snogging, but also Neville and Hannah, while Luna was reading one of her Arithmancy books.

The two Marauders laughed when the teenagers realised they had been seen, snogging.

'So,' Harry glared, 'what was this meeting about?'

'You're lucky that Minister Bones didn't walk in here pup,' Sirius smirked, 'Anyway, Minerva was sacked as headmistress, but she was offered to return as the transfiguration teacher, but not head of Gryffindor or deputy head. She left. Filius agreed to take veritaserum as he said he never realised what was going on with Luna and the others. He's allowed to stay but will not longer be head of Ravenclaw. The governors said the heads of house should be people who aren't busy with other duties, so they will be hiring four more people to act as head,' Sirius explained.

'Then Sirius was offered the job as headmaster,' Remus said grinning from ear to ear.

'You're not serious?' Harry blurted out.

'That's my name, did you forget pup.'

'Sirius,' Harry growled.

'Yes, I was offered and I said I would discuss it with you first. If I take it, it would mean you all return to Hogwarts, but there will be many changes. First is the portraits and house elves along with the ghosts will be utilised to see who is bullying. Also, no more house points, it will be individual points. But if a student ends up in negative points, they will be suspended. Also, there will be communal common rooms so all students can mingle and curfew will be later. Ten for first and second years, eleven for third and fourth. Twelve for fifth, sixth and seventh years. But I mentioned one of your ideas Harry and they were all for it. Students can elect to go home once a fortnight, that's when quidditch isn't played. But during the winter months it can be every weekend. Now they don't want students changing their minds, so at the beginning of the school year they have to state what they want, to go home or stay. They can't keep changing their minds.'

'The Minister, Augusta, Sirius and I spoke about all the problems and realised half of the problems is bullying, also, there are those that want more time to socialise and not just study all the time. Children need time away from studying and learning, just like adults do. This will also help in situations with couples who are from different houses.'

'It also helps so all students can mingle more, without having to worry about someone causing trouble, as every part of Hogwarts will now have portraits who will report trouble instantly and be the witness on who might have caused trouble. They can't lie to the headmaster or deputy.'

'That all sounds great,' Harry grinned.

'What about the prefect situation?' Neville asked.

'Ron and Hermione instantly lost their badges. Ron as he shouldn't have been given it in the first place. No student respects Hermione so she would be of no good as prefect. We spoke about all the prefects, everyone that had been given the badge lost it. Now they are going through all the test results, along with points received and lost, but also how people are thought of. In Ravenclaw, Cho was a prefect, but now she's not as it was found she was the instigator to all the bullying of Luna. The portraits had been seeing this, but Albus refused to do anything, nor did he inform any of the teachers. Minerva just went with how it was run by Albus. With the prefects though, they also knew they needed people who others will listen to and follow and the ones that had been picked where the complete opposite.'

'They are also making bullying a serious offence, meaning suspension the first time and second time, but it will be longer for the second time. The second time could be up to four months, which could mean the student will have to repeat a year. Third time they are expelled. Also, words meant to bully or hurt someone, like mudblood is also a serious offence. Those detentions will be harder but it will only be to help with their education, no more scrubbing cauldron's or bathrooms. The students will spend the time studying then being questioned on what they read. About the headmaster, if Sirius doesn't take it, then Augusta said she would be only until they could find someone else.'

'I think you should Sirius. You will be easy to approach, not like Dumbledore was. You will also show that you might have been in Gryffindor but you were raised by the Blacks.'

'Which will let people know that I mean business and won't take shit from anyone. If I take it the job, I'm going to offer my cousin Andromeda and her husband Ted positions. Andromeda is brilliant at potions, but she's also a healer. Poppy never once reported your condition and we're wondering if there were other kids who had been mistreated at home. She can stay on to treat minor injuries or give out things like headache potions or sleeping potions, but Andromeda will be the healer. Ted will take over history of magic. Again that depends if I take it, which will depend on you lot agreeing to return.'

Harry, Susan, Neville, Hannah and Luna and grinned then nodded. Sirius Black was going to be the headmaster of Hogwarts and Remus back as the defence against the dark arts teacher. But Sirius was going to take the position on the wolf nights so no one can say having Remus there is dangerous. Remus will be leaving Hogwarts for his old cabin for those days and Sirius will be the teacher.
