Author's Note: Normally I don't upload a second chapter this early. I like to give at least a day or two minimum between chapters when I have several done in advance (as I currently do this one). But I just wanted to mention a couple things.
First on pairings. I've decided on Dawn being paired with Ginny, something that is introduced during the Yule Ball. And I am thinking maybe Buffy being paired with Willow. Willow will be in the story starting with the summer between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. Some of season six will take place at that point and sadly that includes Tara's death. I love Tara, I really do. She, Dawn, Buffy and Willow are my favorites from the show with Giles, Oz and Xander a close second. But I think for this story Willow should go to Hogwarts instead of the Devon Coven. Now all this said the Dawn and Ginny pairing leaves Harry with no pairing at current.
Second as I said some of season six of BTVS will take place during the summer between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. I intend for season seven to take place between Order of the Phoenix and Half Blood Prince. Then with Half Blood Prince on, Sunnydale is gone. Harry, Dawn and Buffy will be in England for the rest of the story. If I had more BTVS after Half Blood Prince it won't be from the season eight through twelve comics. If I did it might be something from Angel or from one of the post series BTVS novels.
Lastly Azai Jin, Chapter two will explain the twin thing.
Chapter 1: Family
July 5, 2001
Albus Dumbledore sat in his office at Hogwarts when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. He got up and looked at a map he had long since forgotten to check. A map that had for fifteen years had shown the location of Harry Potter's older sister, till one day five years ago when it had stopped showing her location. He looked as the green dot on the map that was moving rapidly from Los Angeles, California towards New York City. "Curious, where has she been for the last five years."
Dumbledore started making preparations for when Elizabeth reached her destination, one he was sure she was heading for – London. He was sure that Elizabeth had finally learned of her adoption and was coming looking for her birth family. He intended to owl her the moment he knew where she would be staying when she got to London. He thought it might be best to make the meeting for the day following when she received the letter he would send. That way if she got the information about Lily and James and that she had a younger brother. Then she would have a chance to see Harry first.

For a split second, both Harry and Riddle, wand still raised, stared at the book. Then, without thinking, without considering, as though he had meant to do it all along, Harry seized the basilisk fang on the floor next to him and plunged it straight into the heart of the book.
There was a long, dreadful, piercing scream. Ink spurted out of the diary in torrents, streaming over Harry's hands, flooding the floor. Riddle was writhing and twisting, screaming and flailing and then —
He had gone. Harry's wand fell to the floor with a clatter and there was silence. Silence except forthe steady drip drip of ink still oozing from the diary. The basilisk venom had burned a sizzling hole right through it.
Shaking all over, Harry pulled himself up. His head was spinning as though he'd just traveled miles by Floo powder. Slowly, he gathered together his wand and the Sorting Hat, and, with a huge tug, retrieved the glittering sword from the roof of the basilisk's mouth.
Then came a faint moan from the end of the Chamber. Ginny was stirring. As Harry hurried toward her, she sat up. Her bemused eyes traveled from the huge form of the dead basilisk, over Harry, in his blood-soaked robes, then to the diary in his hand. She drew a great, shuddering gasp and tears began to pour down her face.
"Harry — oh, Harry — I tried to tell you at b-breakfast, but I c-couldn't say it in front of Percy — it was me, Harry — but I — I s-swear I d-didn't mean to — R-Riddle made me, he t-took me over — and — how did you kill that — that thing? W-where's Riddle? The last thing I r-remember is him coming out of the diary —"
July 6, 2001 – At a Hotel in London
Dawn woke with a start as she looked around. It took her a moment to remember she was in a hotel in London. "Dang dreams."
Buffy looked at Dawn having been woken up when Dawn sat up, "Another one?"
Dawn nodded, "Our brother with a girl."
Buffy shook her head, "You had a dream about some boy and a girl. They weren't…"
"No," Dawn said as she rubbed at her scar. "First off he didn't look like he was much older than he was in the last one."
"So about twelve," Buffy said. "It's interesting, you know, that you start dreaming about him after we find out I was adopted. It makes me wonder if your hoping that I might have family here. Especially if you're right about my birth parents being dead."
"We have family," Dawn corrected her sister. "I was made from you, remember. That means your parents, your brother are mine biologically also. Don't get me wrong I will always love mom and dad. But they are my family too."
Buffy sighed. "I forgot, Dawn, I'm sorry. You're right. They are yours too."
A few hours later they sat in the office of Ms. Casey Carlyle, "Good morning Ms. Potter, and …" Casey realized she didn't know the name of Buffy's sister.
"Dawn," Dawn said. "Dawn Summers."
"Ms. Summers," Casey said as she shook Dawn's hand. "You are a good sister to help Elizabeth through this."
Dawn smiled as she looked at Buffy. "I try to be."
Buffy looked at Dawn and nodded. In the months since their mother's death, Dawn had matured so much. She was happy that her sister was the one trying be comforting and supportive during all of this. "So, what can you tell us, about my biological family?" Buffy asked.
Casey sighed. "A little, not a lot. Thirteen years ago, James and Lily Potter were murdered, their killer was never found. You have a younger brother that was adopted by Lily's sister and brother-in-law."
Buffy looked at Dawn for a moment. It seemed her sister's dreams had so far been true. Her parents were dead and she did indeed have a younger brother.
"Lily and James according to my mom's records when you were adopted," Casey continued, "gave you up because they themselves were underage. Their families didn't know as Lily got pregnant while at school, she and James attended a private boarding school and the headmaster brought Lily in as she and James were adamant about giving you up since they couldn't take care of you without their parents knowing. So, you were placed for adoption, Elizabeth. As luck would have it the couple that adopted you was here on vacation and agreed to take you in. And I am sure the rest of that story the both of you know."
Buffy nodded as Dawn gave her a quick smile. "You say I have a brother, an aunt and an uncle. I assume they're alive?"
Casey nodded, "Very much so. I did some research after your call the other day. Vernon and Petunia Dursley live with Harry and their son, Dudley, at #4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey. From what I gathered up; Harry attends a boarding school for nine months of the year at St. Brutus' Secure Center for Incurably Criminal Boys."
Buffy sighed as she looked at Dawn who nodded to her, silently telling her it was okay, before looking back at Casey, "Thank you for this information, regardless I think might want to see my brother. I know a lot of adoptions don't usually allow birth families access to the adopted child."
Casey nodded, "That's correct they don't. But luckily for us, Lily and James wanted an open adoption. They wanted the ability to meet and get to know you someday. If you want I will call a cab and have it take you to the Dursley's home."
"Yes, please," Buffy said.
Casey got on the phone and called a cab before escorting Buffy and Dawn out. Two hours later Buffy and Dawn stood outside #4 Privet Drive as the cab drove away, "I will be right beside you Buffy," Dawn said.
Buffy smiled at Dawn. "Thank you, Dawnie, for everything."
Dawn smiled as she hugged her sister.
Buffy turned and walked over to the door. She rang the doorbell. She heard what sounded like a yell, 'Get the door!' or it could have been 'Mop the floor!' she wasn't too sure. The door swung open and a teenage boy that reminded Buffy a little of herself stood there. Buffy took in the sight of her brother. Her eyes fell on a scar on his forehead in the exact same location as Dawn's. She looked back at Dawn her eyes wide.
Harry cocked his head regarding Buffy with a speculating look. "Do I know you?" he asked drawing Buffy's attention back to him.
"It's okay, Buffy," Dawn whispered from behind Buffy having seen not only the shock on Buffy's face at seeing a matching scar to her own. But the fact she had been right about one thing, her description of the boy.
"Who is that at the door, boy!" yelled a deep voice from behind Harry.
Buffy snapped from her dazed state watching as Harry was suddenly pushed out of the way from the doorway.
"Yes?" he said.
"You must be Vernon Dursley," Buffy said. "My name is, or rather was before my adoption, Elizabeth Lilyanne Potter. I'm your niece via your wife's family. And this is my sister by the way of my adoption, Dawn Summers. We're here to see Harry and of course you and your family."
Vernon looked at Buffy and screamed back in to the house for his wife.
Petunia and Dudley timidly walk out of the family room. Buffy sized up the woman and the teenage boy. They were both blondes and that was where their common traits to herself stopped. Other than they were both human, they shared no other similar features to Buffy.
"What's wrong, Vernon?" Petunia asked.
"She said she was your sister's daughter," Vernon said. "Part of his family."
Petunia looked at Buffy and she could swear she was looking at a twin of her sister with a few differences, the first was that Buffy's hair color matched her own mother's. And Buffy's eyes looked like James' eyes. While she could see with her own eyes that Buffy was indeed Lily's daughter, she was still skeptical. "And what proof do you have that you are my niece?" she asked.
Buffy held out her birth certificate, the adoption papers and name change form.
Petunia looked the documents over. The proof was staring her in the face. Buffy was her niece. "Let them in, Vernon. I have to know how we didn't know about this," she said.
Vernon looked at his wife as if he was about to say no. Then he reluctantly stepped aside without actually inviting them in. "Sit down, boy," he said as Petunia led Buffy and Dawn to a sofa. "I recon you will want to hear her story also." He sat next to his wife. "Now explain to us how it's possible that we knew nothing about you."
"My parents gave me up when they were sixteen," Buffy said as she looked at Harry.
Next to Buffy, Dawn was studying Harry or more in particular the scar. She noticed he was staring at hers as well. Dawn wondered if it was a coincidence that they both had a scar in the exact same place or if maybe the monks had known Buffy was adopted after all and had a backup plan in case something happened to Buffy.
Petunia sighed as she realized her perfect sister wasn't perfect. Lily had been pregnant and given up the child instead of telling their parents. "She was afraid that mom and dad wouldn't let her keep you," she said.
"I don't know for sure," Buffy said. "But I think so, yes."
"Aunt Petunia?" Harry said confused at the direction the conversation was going in.
"Harry," Petunia said with a sigh. Harry couldn't remember the last time she had actually said his name. "It appears that you and I both have been kept in the dark." She still held the adoption papers, the birth certificate and name change form in her hand. She passed them to Harry.
Harry took the paperwork hesitantly and looked them over. He paid particular attention to the names of the parents. "How do we know you are who you say you are?" he asked.
"Look at her, Harry," Petunia said. "Really look at her. She looks exactly like a younger version of Lily."
Harry did as he was asked. He looked at Buffy, really looked at her. He saw his mother's face looking back at him with his father's eyes. Just as he himself was a mirror of his own father with his mother's eyes. "You have his eyes," he said.
"I assume you mean our father," Buffy said as Harry nodded.
"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley," Dawn said. "It's been a long day. Would it be possible if I used your bathroom?"
"Boy," Vernon said not wanting to be an ungracious host, despite the company he now entertained, "show her to the wash room."
Harry stood and led Dawn up the stairs. The entire time he stared at her forehead.
"The scar," Dawn said as when she noticed that he was staring. "I noticed you have one too."
"Did you survive a curse also?" Harry asked as they stopped in front of the bathroom door. "Did he try and kill you?"
Dawn looked at Harry for a long moment and then her eyes widened in realization as she remembered the first dream. "Voldemort?" she asked as Harry nodded. "I have no idea how I got it. I've had it since I was little. I've always assumed it was a birthmark."
"So, you know about Voldemort?" he asked.
"Sort of," Dawn admitted. "Twice now I've dreamt of you. When I would wake up each time the scar hurt. The first dream I think was two years ago based on how you look now. You and this Voldemort guy were talking about some stone. The next dream wasn't till after we arrived in London. You were older, you were with a red-headed girl, apparently underground."
"Do you always get dreams like those?" Harry wondered.
"No," Dawn answered. "Never before."
Harry nodded with a sigh. "You dreamt of two of the times I faced Voldemort. Oh, I am so sorry you saw that, those are not my most pleasant memories."
Dawn smiled, "It's ok," she said. "I'll be a minute. Then while Buffy gets to know her aunt and uncle, maybe you can show me your room." She headed into the bathroom and did her business. When she finally exited the bathroom, Harry stood there waiting.
"I can show you my room," Harry said. "But you aren't going to like what you see." He led Dawn to his bedroom.
Dawn saw the many locks on the outside of the door and inside the room she saw the bars on the window. "Why do you have bars on your window and the locks on your door?"
Harry sighed, "Except when I am at school I am treated like a servant. Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia don't like what I am."
Dawn looked confused, "What you are?"
Harry nodded, "Wizard, though in Elizabeth's case …"
"Buffy," Dawn correct. "Her name now is Buffy. And mine is Dawn, by the way."
Harry smiled. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Dawn," he said. "Anyways Buffy would be a witch."
"Which means I might be as well," Dawn said as Harry looked at her quizzically. "It's not an easy conversation. I think it would be best to wait till we are back with Buffy. Then we'll both tell you everything."
Harry nodded. "Buffy's and my family at least on father's side comes from a long line of witches and wizards going back centuries, our mother was Muggleborn. Buffy would have known all this though, and since you are her sister regardless if you can do magic you likely would have known. After all Aunt Petunia knew mom was a witch, while Aunt Petunia isn't, Surely Buffy would have invited like I was to a school for witchcraft and wizardry."
Dawn sighed. "We talked to our dad, Buffy's adopted dad, before we flew here. He mentioned Buffy getting the invite to a private school, but she hadn't wanted to go so… But this school, you say you go to a school for witchcraft and wizardry. Is that St. Brutus' Secure Center for Incurably Criminal Boys?"
Harry sighed. "That's the school that Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia say I go to. Remember I said they don't like my kind much. They think of us as freaks. I actually go to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry."
Dawn looked around the room and sighed. "I think Buffy should see your room. As your next of kin, she might be able to do something about this. After all, wouldn't she have rights being your older sister?"
"I don't know," Harry said.
Dawn walked toward the door of Harry's room. "Hey, Buffy can you come up here for a moment?" she called out.
Downstairs Buffy looked to Petunia who nodded, "Coming, Dawn!" She walked upstairs and followed the sounds of both of her siblings' voices to Harry's room. She saw the locks on the door and frowned. Once she entered the room she saw the bars on the window. "What in the heck!"
"That's what I wanted you up here for. Harry is pretty much treated like dirt here," Dawn said. "I don't like the idea of our brother staying with these people, even if they are family."
Harry looked at Dawn confused at the fact Dawn had referred to him as her brother.
"Later, I promised we would tell you everything, remember?" Dawn said.
"She's right, Harry," Buffy agreed. "Her being your sister is a complicated discussion. And it goes hand in hand with my story. And I am sure you want to know why I never knew about you till now. Now let me see what I can do about this. If I can help it, I am not going to let you remain here. Not if this is the way they are treating you."
"Thanks," Harry said as he and Dawn followed Buffy back downstairs.
Buffy sat back down on the sofa as bother siblings sat on opposite sides of her. "Want to tell me why there are locks on my brother's door and bars on his window?"
"The boy is a menace," Vernon said. "We had to put those there for our own safety."
"Look!" Buffy growled. "No one is to be treated that way. You have two options right now. One I call whatever agency that deals with this kind of stuff. Which would likely mean your son would be taken away along with Harry for their own protection. Or two you can just sign custody over to me, right here and right now. Being Harry's older sister, I do believe I have some rights in the matter. I will take Harry home with me and you never have to worry about him ever again."
Vernon looked at Petunia who nodded, "Very well, we never wanted him anyways. Where are you staying? I will have our lawyer come by with the custody papers already signed."
"Harry, go get your stuff," Buffy said as Harry and Dawn headed back upstairs to pack Harry's things. "We're at the Crown Plaza Heathrow, room 203. I expect your attorney bright and early at 9am."
A couple moments later Harry and Dawn came downstairs with a trunk and bird cage, with a white owl inside. They then called a cab to take them back to the hotel.
Once back in the hotel room Buffy and Dawn were startled by an owl flying in to the room through the open window. Harry held out his arm and the Owl landed on his arm dropping an envelope in to his hands before departing back out the window. Harry looked at the envelope before handing it to Buffy, "It's for you. I wonder how Dumbledore knew you were here."
Buffy opened the envelope and took out the letter.
Dear Ms. Elizabeth Lilyanne Potter
My name is Albus Dumbledore; I am the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. I have a few things to discuss with you. I will come by your hotel room promptly at 10 o'clock in the morning tomorrow.
First though I do want to say thank you for taking Harry in to your care, if you have done so. If I had any other option available to me 13 years ago, I would not have placed him with your aunt and uncle.
Harry, if you are indeed in the custody of your older sister. Do not worry the protection left on you by your mother will continue to protect in your sister's care. Remember though you must consider her home, yours.
I will talk to you all tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Albus Dumbledore
Headmaster
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Buffy sighed, "Harry can you tell me who this guy is and what exactly is this Hogwarts?"
Harry nodded and he began the explanation on how he had first found out about being a Wizard and attending Hogwarts for the last 3 years. He then went on to explain how their family had been witches and wizards. He finally concluded his story with how their parents had been murdered by Voldemort.
Buffy couldn't help but feel sorry for Harry. It appeared she and Dawn weren't the only ones who were magnets for trouble. She herself had been called as the Slayer at the age of fifteen. And Dawn well she had once been a green glowing ball of energy known as the Key. "What is it with our family being a magnet for trouble," she said.
"What do you mean?" Harry asked.
"Tomorrow, Harry," Buffy said. "It's late and it's a long conversation. I promise, tomorrow."
Harry hated being kept in the dark. But as he looked at his sister, he knew one more day would not matter in the long run. He could wait.

'EXPECTO PATRONUM!' Harry yelled, trying to blot the screaming from his ears. 'EXPECTO PATRONUM!'
A thin wisp of silver escaped his wand and hovered like mist before him. At the same moment, Harry felt Hermione collapse next to him. He was alone … completely alone …
'Expecto – expecto patronum –'
Harry felt his knees hit the cold grass. Fog was clouding his eyes. With a huge effort, he fought to remember – Sirius was innocent – innocent –we'll be OK – I'm going to live with him – 'Expecto patronum!' he gasped.
By the feeble light of his formless Patronus, he saw a Dementor halt, very close to him. It couldn't walk
through the cloud of silver mist Harry had conjured. A dead, slimy hand slid out from under the cloak. It made a gesture as though to sweep the Patronus aside.
'No – no –' Harry gasped. 'He's innocent … expecto – expecto patronum –'
He could feel them watching him, hear their rattling breath like an evil wind around him. The nearest
Dementor seemed to be considering him. Then it raised both its rotting hands – and lowered its hood.

Dawn woke and sat up quickly as she rubbed at the scar on her forehead. She saw Buffy was sitting at the window looking outside.
"Another?" Buffy asked as she noticed out of the corner of her eye Harry rouse from where he slept rubbing his own scar.
"Yes," Dawn said.
"What did you see?" Harry asked.
"You were saying something. Expecto something."
Harry sighed and nodded. "Expecto Patronum. I think I know what you saw. I was trying to protect my godfather Sirius from the Dementors."
"Dementors?" Buffy asked.
"Their guards at the wizarding prison," Harry said. "Sirius was falsely accused of murder. He escaped to prove his innocence. The dementors tracked him to Hogwarts. I helped him get away before they gave him the kiss which would have basically killed him."
"You're sure he's innocent?" Buffy asked.
"Yes, Buffy," Harry said.
"I know it is your memory but it seemed so real to me like I was really there," Dawn admitted. "I felt so cold."
Harry nodded understanding what she was saying, "Like all happiness had gone out of the world." Dawn nodded. "That's what the Dementors do they suck all happiness from you and leave you with nothing more than unhappy memories. It's why they guard the Wizarding prison, Azkaban. If I may ask what was the unhappy memory you experienced while in the dream?"
Dawn looked at Buffy, it hadn't been so much a memory that she had experienced but instead what would have happened if Buffy hadn't gotten to her on the tower in time. "Buffy, dying, for me."
Harry looked at Buffy quizzically.
"It's part of that conversation we're going to have," Buffy said. "And I think it may even solve the answer of how Dawn is seeing your memories and how she has the exact same scar you do."
