This is just a sweet little holiday one-shot that I had playing in my mind for a while. :

What might have happened after the season 2 finale? What if Kate had told Lanie about what she was going to confess to Castle? Might things have been different?

Castle has a plan for Kate's birthday, but then it eventually morphs into a sub-plan to pull a fast one on Lanie and the guys. Caskett moments in this one. Total AU. *Complete*

An old foe returns to torment and test Beckett's team and they're caught in the middle of a game they can't afford to lose.

Esposito second guesses his chat with Beckett in the evidence room and finds himself looking for support from Lanie.
