Anon's wargear:
Light carapace armor capable of stopping lasfire and small arms, and light enough not to hinder Anon's capability in CQC.
A force saber, increases the user's psychic power control and allows them to wield a greater amount of force with less danger, once powered with psychic powers, it can cut through ceremite like a power sword, however, if psychic powers are disabled, it will turn into a normal sword, very good against armor(If powered).
Plasma pistol, the same pistol he found on crashed Inquisitorial vessel on Thule many years ago, good against armor, high chance of explosion when overheated.
-Planet: Sythia -Year: 915.M34 -Location: Segmentum Obscurus, Athena Sector -POV: Anon
The air was filled with smoke, the wind was carrying snow, the constant sound of artillery was almost deafening, thousands upon thousands of shells struck the hive city's outer layer but even they did next to nothing to the giant city. All around him soldiers rushed to their positions as their sergeants yelled.
The hive city was gigantic, it almost pierced the lower atmosphere with its height. The city was grotesque and ugly but Anon couldn't help but admire it, there was a certain charm to its functional aesthetics, it might be ugly and harmful to the fragile ecosystem the planet already had, but it was beautiful in a sense that it stood the test of time for thousands of years and will probably do so for thousands more if they keep it intact by the end of their mission.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" a voice asks, gathering Anon's attention
The masked psyker turns his head to face the source of the question, it was the stormtrooper, the same one who was at the briefing, he was Isaac, a man with short blond hair and a well-built body in the full void capable carapace, he was looking at the hive city as he asked the question.
"It is" Anon nodded
"You know, most people don't appreciate how beautiful a hive is, yeah it is ugly and dirty but it's strong, like every man in imperium should be" Isaac said
"I don't think being ugly is a desirable trait but yes, it has a certain charm that you can appreciate as you grow older" Anon confirmed Isaac, his words gets a curious look from the trooper, he was thinking about Anon's age
Anon did not lie, he really liked the hive cities to a certain extent, he didn't want to see humans live in such terrible conditions, but he wasn't going to deny the fact he liked it.
"Older? don't tell me you got one of those fancy rejuvenation treatments" Isaac asked with a sarcastic smile on his face, not wanting to answer such question, Anon stood silent which caused the trooper to sigh "Not so friendly huh? what? you don't like talking to people or something?" the trooper asked again
"I do enjoy solace but that does not imply I hate a decent conversation" the masked psyker answered
"Well if you do, you aren't showing it, my name is Isaac, the one from the briefing remember?" Isaac introduce himself which was unnecessary, for one Anon already knew his name, and two, Anon could read his mind
"I do remember your name, Trooper Isaac, and you may call me Jermai" Anon answered
"Damn man, you always talk like that? no wonder people don't talk to you, if you don't stop acting like a..." before he could finish a voice interrupted him
"I AM NOT AN ELDAR FARSEER!" Anon growled, he was tired of being called an Eldar or a damned hybrid, he didn't have anything against Eldar, the only problem was that they are not welcome within the imperium, and Anon had a plan to stick with the imperium for time being, he cannot afford to be called an alien
"Well, you do act like one, being mysterious and cryptic and all that, Inquisitors do something similar but your a whole new level" Isaac argued
"That's why people don't approach you" Isaac revealed
"And may I ask why you do so? I have been taking sanctuary within the ship for more than a year now, yet, you haven't approached me during that time, is there a reason as to why you choose just before the mission to introduce yourself to a witch?" Anon asked, he already knew the answer he just wanted to hear him say it
"You know, just wanted to know the person who is going to watch my back, even if you are a witch, you are still a comrade, as long as you don't turn into a portal or a chaos spawn or just outright explode and get possessed by a daemon, we are just fine" Isaac said with a chuckle which made Anon smile as well though the trooper couldn't see him "You won't explode right? right?" Isaac asked this time with a nervous chuckle
"Hmmm...I wonder" Isaac flinched at the answer, Anon found it amusing "No Isaac, I will not explode nor do I plan to live the rest of eternity as a chaos spawn" This time Isaac seemed more relaxed but still a bit nervous
"Do you think we'll make it out alive? I mean, I'm not saying we are weak or anything, it's just that..."
"So long as our plan is in motion, we will live to see another day" Anon answered his question before he could finish it
"What, did you just see the future or something? if you can do that, can you tell me will..." Isaac was excited but he was interrupted by Anon's hand indicating him to stop talking
"No, I cannot see through the threads of fate, such things are beyond my abilities, my talent in divination is limited to a few seconds into the future, and no she will not accept your proposal, not now at least, and if you please, stop thinking about intercourse so much, you will never attain her heart if your intentions are so...limited" Anon answered all of his questions
Sometimes Anon's natural talent was a curse since the thoughts of people around him poured into his mind constantly, and the worst part was that he could not shut it EVEN when he slept. This problem became worse when they entered planets orbit, and now, this man was asking relationship advice, Anon hadn't trained for a millennium just to connect some couples together, despite his looks, he was an old man.
"Damn, I thought I had her for sure" Isaac cursed, Anon sighed and put a hand on his head "And what's this divination thingy? isn't you just, you know... do stuff as is?" Isaac asked
'By the throne, is this how Magnus felt like when he talked to Russ?' Anon thought to himself then spoke to the trooper "I'm afraid you must wait for your answer, it seems our mission is about to begin" Anon pointed towards the inquisitor coming back with Avina and Mylin
Mylin was a cadian kasrkin, she had purple eyes a brown hair that was shaped like a ponytail, she was quite masculine for a woman, probably stronger than average men.
"The assault begins in 30 minutes, we will take a valkyrie and close our distance while the guardsmen distract the defenders, we might get shot from missile turrets, it's not one of our transport so it doesn't have a shield, Jermai you will be in charge of shielding the transport" William said as the group went into the transport "We are all in, you can take off now" William order the pilot and soon the valkyrie was on the air alongside with many other, though the others were a distraction
Anon watched as armored formations of imperial guard approached the city, they were accompanied by heavy artillery and air support. The hive responded in kind and fired their own artillery, many people from both sides die before the battle was fully commenced. As the group's transport approached the hive, missiles and flak cannon shots were thrown on their way which was avoided thanks to the psyker on board. Anon was using all of his concentration in order to redirect the missiles to their senders, he was successful, the force sword helped him concentrate greatly as almost all of the missile turrets in their area was destroyed by their own missiles, unfortunately, he couldn't do the same with flak cannon shots, he had to use his shield to stop them.
After 20 minutes, the transport landed one floor above their objective, the cultist they were looking for was one floor below them. As soon as the valkyrie landed, a large group of cultists rushed to their positions, they needed to deal with them now or risk compromising the entire mission. After realizing this fact, William takes a frag grenade from Isaac and throws it into the valkyrie, causing it to explode with the allied pilot inside. After the explosion, the entire team moves into positions in which they can conceal themselves from the approaching threat.
The sounds of footsteps came ever closer as Anon and Avina jumped on pipes above their positions while others found other ways to conceal themselves, William used a cloak-like device to conceal himself and the kasrkin while Isaac was somewhere even Anon could not see but he felt he was nearby.
"The bird is down Arch!" Shouted a cultist as 32 cultists flooded the area, they were poorly equipment with some of them using civilian equipment as melee weapons, they clearly had the mark of Tzeentch tattoed on their head
"Search the area, those loyalist dogs might be hiding somewhere" another cultist shouted, it seemed like she was their leader since she had better equipment than the rest
The cultists search around the area and almost came close to seeing William and Mylin but thanks to Anon's illusions, they remained counseled, still, Isaac was nowhere to be seen, it looks like he is good at hiding.
"No one is here Arch" one of the cultists informed the leader
"Alright you lot, you and you, stay here and search for weapons, the others follow me, we're moving" the group leader ordered as she lead her troops to another location
Only two cultists remained who search around for loot, they were too close to William and Mylin for Anon to conceal them with his powers. Anon looked at the assassin beside him as she pointed towards the cultist who was wearing a grey military tunic while leaving the other one to Anon, the masked man nodded and moved into position to take them out, his hand was on his blade.
In a graceful show of skill, the two jumped down from an approximately 8-meter height and landed beside their targets, Anon was not augmented like Avina so he had to use telekinesis, cultists could not register fast enough as they were cut down, Anon noted that Avina's attacks were purposefully slashed parts of the body that caused the most pain, the cultist couldn't even scream as a blade was inside his mouth, in another hand, Anon simply cut the head of his target, both of the hostiles made no sound as they fell to the ground.
A few seconds later William deactivated his device and both of them were now visible. Isaac simply came out from a dirty-looking hole within the walls saying that it was the hive's ventilation system, as if finding these holes were common knowledge.
"Mylin, throw the bodies into the fire" William ordered as he grabbed one of the bodies and throw it into the fire of valkyrie, Mylin took the other one and throw it as well, the smell of burning flesh did nothing to reduce the stench of the hive "Now we move, Avina scout ahead we will follow after you" William ordered "But before that lets deal with that gate, Isaac get to work"
"Aye aye my bos... I mean my lord!" Isaac said as moved towards the gate
The gate was 5cm of reinforced steel, and it only opened with a specific item that the servitor at the door recognized, so opening it via key was not an option, fortunately, Isaac seems to have a certain talent for opening such locked doors, why he possessed such skill was a mystery and it didn't worth the time or effort to read his memories, not in midst of the mission where he needed to hide his psychic present from their assassination target.
Even when he fought the chaos marine on Trentey II, he didn't sense such power, whoever this 'Av-341' is, he is powerful, not as skilled in controlling his power like Anon but in terms of raw power, he was even superior to Anon. The alpha plus grade that Anon was on did not mean a specific psychic mutation level, it meant that psychic mutation is so powerful, it cannot be scaled! yet here he was, an alpha plus psyker who is outmatched in terms of raw power, if Anon is not careful when they meet this beast, he might kill everyone in his team.
"Job's done Inquisitor" Isaac said as the gate opened itself
"Good, let us proceed then" William ordered and gestured to Avina to scout ahead of the group
The sound of artillery barrage shook the ground as the team moved through the manufactorum of the hive, to say there were lots of cultists was not enough, there were at least thousands of them nearby, mostly civilians who were working at the factories to fuel their war effort. Anon felt bad for the cultists, most of them weren't even chaos worshippers, they simply wanted to have better living conditions, unfortunately, they had no idea that they were trading their old masters for even worst ones.
The group moved through tight corridors, this was the pass with the smallest possibility of being detected, and thank to the psychic cloak, they didn't need to kill most of the cultists they faced. They were few exceptions, when the enemy was too close to fall for the illusions, they were quickly silenced.
After a few hours of navigation while hidden, the party managed to reach an elevator section that lead to the first level of the hive, it was guarded by a sizeable force. The location looked like a subway, two U-shaped corridors were connected to it, William's group was at the eastern corridor which was guarded by two cultists behind a sandbag fortification, they were manning a heavy stubber.
Behind them were another 14 cultists that were out of vision but Anon could sense them, they will quickly reinforce the two if they were attacked, the worst part was that the group leader had a vox ready in case of enemy infiltration.
"There are sixteen of them" Anon informed them "Fourteen" he corrected himself after sensing Avina take out of two cultists from the shadows
"They don't seem well-fortified" William observed "They most likely have a vox unit here ready to call for reinforcements" William said as he thought for a plan, before he could come up with something, Anon used telekinesis to snap the neck of the two cultists
Isaac looked at the corpses, then towards William "Well that did the trick" said the stormtrooper waiting for his orders
William sighed "Procced" William ordered
The group moved past the sandbags, Isaac made sure to break the trigger of the stubber before he moved in. As they approached the elevator they saw two other corpses laying on the ground with lots of blood, behind them, within the shadows, where little light reached, stood a black figure, she was Avina. How they found Avina was disturbing for all but William himself who already knew about her nature.
Upon seeing the four Avina licked her blood-wet lips, the heart of one of the cultists was missing, it was torn out of its place, with a quick movement of her hands Avina flick off the blood from her blade and moved closer to the group.
After quickly recovering from the shock of this sight Anon looked for the psychic signature of the other cultists, he quickly found them to be behind a door that lead to a small barracks, the masked man gestured to the group towards the door.
"It appears, the others are residing within the barracks Inquisitor, they are not aware of us" Anon informed "I can disintegrate the bodies but there is a small chance our target spot us, warp fire is easily detectable" Anon added
"Isaac, Mylin move towards the door, Jermai and I will move in close range first, you two will come in support, Avina go down the elevator, and secure the permitter before we arrive, we must eliminate them before anyone comes from our rear" William ordered
As the orders were given, Avina leaped to the shadows and disappeared a few seconds later, Isaac and Mylin moved towards the door and surrounded it from both sides, William moved to the front and activated his power weapon, his power armor allowed him to take hits from autoguns without getting harmed, Anon was right behind him.
The door shattered under the pressure of William's kick, which gathered the attention of all the cultists within the room, two of them were playing a board game, 5 were eating at the table while the others were just awakened by the sound of the kick. William quickly moved forward as Anon cast an illusion to stun them, the psyker then proceeded to crush the sleeping cultists by bringing down the double beds on their head with great force, 4 of the cultists immediately turned into bloody piles of crushed flesh and organs, their only fault was to sleep on the first beds instead of upper ones.
As the cultists around the table were asking why would their superiors barge into their room like that, William cut down 3 of them with a single strike of his power weapon, the blood of their friends sprayed into the faces of the two cultists sitting in front of them, the two were shocked momentarily before two hotshots pierced their head. The other two cultists quickly throw the table they were playing on towards Anon which he ducked under and dodged without effort, Anon did not allow them to reach towards their gun as he throw them away using his mind, the cultist looked in horror as the masked psyker cut his comrade in front of him in a diagonal slash, he had no time to scream as his eyes spewed blood as his head was crushed under the pressure of psyker's gaze.
The remaining cultists, who had just awakened to the sound of the fight were shot by disciplined laser fire of the troopers, soon the room fell silent as the last cultist fell. William searched for the vox unit of the cultists as he ordered Anon and Isaac to bring the bodies outside to the room.
the duo quickly moved to complete the order.
"You got some skill with that thing" Anon heard Isaac say, Anon looked at him, Isaac was glancing towards Anon's saber
"Compliments are not necessary, but appreciate your recognition" Anon said as he dragged the body behind him with one hand
"You ain't gonna use them fancy stuff?" Isaac asked, Anon looked at him with confusion which Isaac barely recognized thanks to his mask "You know, when you use your mind and stuff move around" Isaac clarified
"You wish me to use telekinesis?" Anon asked, Isaac nodded though he didn't understand the meaning of the word, 'How can this man be a son of an imperial officer?' Anon asked himself, the stormtroopers were children of the hight ranking imperials who should be much more educated than normal citizens "Using my powers will attract the attention of our target" Anon explained
"I mean the bastard ain't here is he?" Isaac asked
Anon sighed then spoke "He is a psyker Isaac, he can sense psychic activity just like me, though his skills are utterly crude compared to mine" Anon explained then dropped the body inside the room "As for the reason I used telekinesis, some abilities are much harder to detect compare to other, they require less power and more skill thus harder to detect since psykers look for a high concentration of psychic energy to detect their opponent" the masked man explained as he moved towards William
"Oh" Isaac was confused but slightly understood Anon's explanation "You said the guy is less skilled right? then the mission is easy ain it? I mean you can beat him right?" Isaac asked
"I can but it will be hard, I can defeat him but I won't be an easy task since I must protect you while combating him" Anon revealed
When saying that Anon had not lied to them, it was true that the team will only hinder him when facing their target, not to imply that his group was weak compared to him, it was simply the fact that their target had large amounts of psychic power, by simply waving his hand he could unleash such power that will incinerate them even with William's power armor.
Before the two could say anything else, William came with a small vox unit on his hand "You two the plan has changed" William announced "Jermai I hate to do this but you and Isaac will eliminate the target, me, Mylin, and Avina will locate the Inquisitor Helen and rescue her unite" William ordered
"But Bos..." William glared at Isaac "I mean my lord, Isn't the winged guy our target? you said you didn't care about the other inquisitor fella, besides, why send me, I'm no good against a psyker" Isaac asked
"Priorities has changed, I have new information indicating an item found by Inquisitor Helen, we have this vox unit to thanks for" William showed the vox unit "This item will change her priority from secondary to the main objective, but do not worry, I am certain Ano... I mean Jermai is more than capable of dealing with an untrained psyker, I have chosen you since you have experience with hive cities, you will guide Jermai through the hive" William reassured Isaac, he almost said Anon's real name but corrected himself after seeing the masked man look towards him
"Well, he said he can take their boss alone so... no worries?" Isaac asked Anon
"No" the masked man answered
"Good, Jermai send a message to Avina's mind, tell her to abandon her current objective and follow us" William ordered the psyker
"Em..." Anon made a sound, others looked at him questioningly "If I reach out to her mind, can you assure me that I will not be killed during my sleep within the ship once we return?" Anon asked
William facepalmed on his helmet and sighed "Just do it" Inquisitor ordered
Anon carefully searched throughout the area with his mind and located the assassin, she was inflicting pain on some cultists.
~Avina, by the orders of our lord you have been called back, return immedietly~ a voice echoed in assassins mind
He quickly severed the connection between their minds and signed to William that the message was delivered. Anon flinched slightly as he sensed the assassin approaching with great haste, it was a terrifying sensation that someone like Avina was closing on him, she was filled with hatred that a psyker had invaded her mind.
"Isaac and I will take our leaves, my lord, I wish you luck in your mission" the psyker quickly pushed Isaac towards the door
Without saying anything else the duo separated from the others.
-Planet: Sythia -Year: 915.M34 -Location: Segmentum Obscurus, Athena Sector -POV: Calliphus albus
"More of them are approaching from the eastern checkpoint Inquisitor" Caplliphus shouted as she sensed more enemy signatures approach
"Straken, take that heavy stubber to the checkpoint, don't let them pass" Inquisitor Helen shouted the orders
"Affirmative" the trooper dashed towards the eastern checkpoint with a stubber in his hands
Three cultists fell as Calliphus cast another lightning bolt, she could only cast a few more times, for days she had to hold back the unending tide of cultists and occasional daemons, the fighting has been so constant that she lost the count of days she was in here, was it her time to die? is it finally time for her to meet the emperor?
Her internal questions were interrupted by another group of cultists who met with Helen's bolt gun, the explosive rounds made quick work of poorly equipped cultists. A few minutes later the sound of Straken's heavy stubber also ceases, finally after a very long time, the hallways were silent.
"Celliphus, can you sense anything?" Inquisitor asked as she check the remaining rounds in her bolt gun
Celliphus spread out her consciousness and searched around their location, the enemy has ceased their assault, for now. As she spread out her psyche she could hear the whispers again, the voices that promised her change, they offered her unlimited psychic powers, an opportunity to learn more about how to use her talents, but she ignored them, as she always did, these daemons will not stray her from emperor's light.
Celliphus is not a stranger to such honeyed lies of the neverborn, ever since she was young she could hear their voice, being trained helped to lessen the voices but it never completely disappeared.
"Celliphus?" Inquisitor Helen said her name out loud, her finger stiffened on her boltgun's trigger
"I'm sorry my lord, no enemies are in the area" Celliphus informed her with an apologetic tone
"Excellent, reinforcements are on route, we should be able to get out soon" said the inquisitor as she looked around "Straken has yet to return, Celliphus do follow" Helen ordered as she moved towards his last position
The due moved through the pile of corpses, a few of them were Inquisitor's agents, they had fallen long before this engagement. Two minutes later, they were greeted by the corps of Straken, in front of him many cultists were laying dead in the chokepoint, he had killed many before his own death.
"Throne damn it, we were barely holding them back as is, now another is dead" Helen said as she observed the half-blown head of the trooper, his brain colored the wall behind him
Seeing Straken's dead body, Celliphus felt a pain in her chest, even if they weren't friends, they were comrades who fought alongside each other, he even saved her when they had faced the psyker cultist, 'His soul is now with the emperor' Celliphus reassured herself.
"What should we do now, Lord?" the psyker asked
"The situation is quite frantic I admit, but we can't do anything other than wait for my college to arrive" Inquisitor said with a hand on her chin "Let's fall back for now, sabotage the weapons, and place the remaining explosives, we'll connect the explosives to a switch, don't want our allies to step on mines now do we?" Helen said
"As you wish my lord, I will see to it at once" Celliphus said which received a nod from the Inquisitor
A few hours later, all the explosives were set and the due retreated back, where they only needed to hold a single choke point. The time passed by as they were attacked by cultists again, for hours two of them held the kill zone until finally enemies were shot down. The Cultists fell as another group opened fire on them from their rear.
"It appears that we are saved" Inquisitor Helen said as she tap on Celliphus's shoulder
Celliphus relaxed somewhat when she saw the two figures approach, one was a woman in carapace armor, the other one was what she assumed an Inquisitor since he was wearing high-quality power armor like Inquisitor Helen.
"Greetings Inquisitor, I am Helen Amber, Inquisitor of ordo hereticus" Celliphus heard Helen introduce herself, compare to the new Inquisitor she was less intimidating, mainly because of their differences in height
"Greetings, I am William Husan of ordo malleus" the new inquisitor said with a slight bow "I dread the circumstances of our first meeting, but worry not, we will have a proper introduction once we return to orbit" he said as he looked around, his eyes met with the white-haired psyker
Celliphus flinched as she saw the intimidating gaze of William, his helmet's eyes were glowing red.
"I read your last report, it is stated that you left with fifteen members, where are they?" William asked
"All dead, she is the only one left alive and sane, the others were killed during our confrontation with the so-called "Breaker of Chains" or at least the traitors call him like that, you may know of him as AV-341" Helem answered
"Do not worry, we will take you back, but before that, I believe the 'Package' is safe?" William asked as he took off his helmet
"It is, we were unable to eliminate the head cultist, but we manage to safeguard the item" Helen answered as she pointed towards a metallic case with an eye symbol on it "The cultists are trying to draw this planet into the warp, if we at least bring this item back to the base, we can justify an exterminatus, better we kill the planet than give it to the hands of the enemy"
"No, we may not need to use that option" William interrupted Helen's words, she raised an eyebrow in confusion
"I don't believe he is dead, otherwise we would have known" Helen said as she turned to face the white-haired psyker, Celliphus told her that the AV-341 was still alive
"I have sent a team of two to eliminate the enemy psyker while I came here to make sure the package is secure, we will go back to the landing bay and wait for them to arrive"
"I beg your pardon?" Helen questioned "A team of two? is this a jest? we don't have time for silly jokes Inquisitor Husan" a slightly irritated Helen asks
"It is as I said, we will wait until they eliminate the threat then we will leave this hive" William asks
Celliphus took a few steps back as she saw Helen's furious face, she doesn't like it when Helen is angry, her anger usually results in someone's death.
"Do you really think two psykers can succeed when 7 had already failed?" Helen growled, seven psyker were called upon for this mission but only Celliphus had survived the encounter with the head cultist
"It's not two, only one" William corrected her, at this point, Helen was extremely irritated
"Are you a fool Inquisitor Husan or are you pretending like one?" Helen asks
"Unfortunately for you, I am the one who is making the decision here Inquisitor, and I will not let you question my judgment when I am the one who is rescuing you" William glared angrily at Helen
Celliphus who has been witnessing the pissing contest between the two Inquisitors tried to think of a way for them to stop arguing unless someone will get shot, and by the emperor, she will not be that person. Before she could think of something she sensed something, large amounts of warp energies were being discharged somewhere, one was clearly the one they had faced before, the same Tzeentchian mutant that had killed her comrades, the other one however was different, was this the person Inquisitor William had sent?
"My lords" both of the Inquisitors turned their heads to face the psyker which caused her to flinch and forget her words "I-its...em...p-psyker" she tried to say something but her words were gibberish
"What is it girl? Out with it!" Helen questioned
Celliphus took a heavy breath before answering "I can sense large amounts of warp energies being discharged... it's our target and another psyker" Celliphus informed them
"For emperor's sake, we have been arguing for so long they already reached their target, Inquisitor Helen, we will leave for extraction point NOW" William said as he moved towards the way they had come from "Avina any enemy nearby?" William asked to no one
Suddenly a black figure appears from the shadows "The blood debt of the heathen are taken, Inquisitor" Avina said with a psychopathic smile, her blades were drenched in blood
"Good, let's moved out before more of them come, we need to be in extraction point as soon as possible" William ordered, the part moved out of their position
(Sometime before this encounter, POV: Anon)
The duo moved through the maze-like structure of the hive, or at least it was a maze for Anon, he finally understood why William had chosen Isaac to go with him, somehow he knew how to move through the hive as if he already lived here, Anon didn't know how he knew where to go, but he will make sure to steal his memories later, since many important worlds of imperium are hive worlds, this knowledge would come in handy later on.
"There, once we go through there we will reach that bird bastard" Isaac pointed upward towards a staircase "Only if I'd knew where that damn thing starts" Isaac was looking around to see how to reach that staircase above them
"We are close to our target yet he has not noticed us yet, even though I am a psyker..." Anon said it with a low voice
It was odd that the enemy hadn't noticed them yet, he should've at least noticed Anon even if he can't sense Isaac. Was this a trap? is he pretending to not notice for the duo to drop their guards? or did he simply lack in training and was too skilless to notice them? it was true that Anon had tried his best to conceal their present both in reality and the warp, but still, something was odd...
"Did ya say anything?" Isaac turned to look at the masked figure
"Nothing, just come here" Anon said looking at the trooper, Isaac looked around then did as Anon asked
After they were less than a meter away from each other when Anon used his sword to cut a circle around their feet on the ground, he then used his telekinesis to float the piece of metal beneath them, Anon lacked the focus to use his power to float by himself for now, but he could use indirect means to float.
"Woah" Isaac voiced as he tried to keep his balance on the metal, Anon simply stood as if nothing happened
The metal piece floated towards their destination and landed without any sound. There were three decently equipped cultists guarding a gate, they were shocked when they saw two armed people float to their position. Isaac and the guards brought up their weapons to shoot, instead of a firefight, the cultists fell to the ground as their neck snapped to the sides, they fell where they stood, their carapace did nothing against the attack.
"Nice trick, I see now why people don't come around your lot, no offense man but you are dangerous" Isaac said as he moved towards the gate
"So long as we are allies, they have nothing to fear from me, I will bring them more benefits than harm" Anon retorted "Besides, now is not time to talk, behind that gate is our target, I do not know why he has chosen such lowly guarded place, there is a high chance of ambush, tread carefully" Anon said as he moves towards the gate
"Ambush, gate, careful, got it" Isaac said as he started to fiddle with the gate's cogitator
"There is no need for that, stand aside and prepare for breaching, once we enter you have to focus on his minions if he has any" Anon ordered as he moved close to the gate
"Wait what are you going to do?" Isaac asked as he prepared his hotshot
"We are close to our target, there is no reason for me to conceal my powers" Anon said
Immediately after saying that the temperature suddenly dropped, to such a degree that Isaac could see his own breath. Anon enveloped himself in psychic might as he send a shock wave to the gate, in mere seconds, the gate flew inside and crushed tens of blue and pink horrors, few robe cultists were also visible under the gate.
All the daemons and cultists looked at the gate, their momentary shock gave Isaac more than enough shoot, cultists fell as Isaac continued to shoot. Anon on the other hand blocked the pure warp energy that threatened to consume both him and Isaac, now that he didn't need to hide his powers and he was not concerned with time like his last mission, he could unleash as much as he wished.
The horrors of Tzeentch started to throw their spells at the duo, some of them laughed like a madman, some made incomprehensible noises and some even cried. Their expression mattered not as their spells were rendered useless, one after another Anon block the spells but each time he stopped a wave, another wave of spells came but this time double the time before, a minute later, the masked psyker grew tired and launched a warp lighting towards the horrors, they disappeared soon after.
In less than five minutes tens of cultists and hundreds of cultists were dealt with, luckily for the duo, there were no portals this time so no more daemons will come once they banish them. Anon and Isaac entered the hall, it was crystalized hall, the blue and purple colors made it quite beautiful, the raw warp energy flew around in the air and was only contained by the gate, Anon made extra sure to shield Isaac and himself from them.
~Who dares harm my minions~ a voice came to their minds, it tried to invade their minds but was unsuccessful, his skills were crude at best, he didn't put any effort into his mind invasion, he simply tried to overwhelm them with sheer mental power ~You dare to resist the master of fates, corpse worshipper?~ the voice echoed in their minds
"Show yourself already and get out of my head, stop hiding like a bitch" Isaac shouted
~Your travesty will not go unanswered mortal fool!~ the voice echoed for one last time
A winged figure appeared, he was exactly like the picture they have been shown, blue birdlike wings on his back, bird-like claws instead of limbs, the only difference was the number of feathers.
"Behold my majesty you imperial dogs" the figure opened his arms in the air to show his body "Bow before me and offer your souls, embrace your new god and I shall spare you meaningless lives" the figure smiled, his teeth were sharp and mutated
The masked psyker sighed and looked bored "Fools like you are all the same, I do not even wish to talk to you" Anon said as he concentrated his psyche, he made sure to properly shield the trooper
The room's temperature dropped even further as supernatural energies covered Anon's body like a halo of light. Seeing this the cultist grinned.
"You amuse me mortal, many came before you in greater numbers, all of them are now gone, yet you believe you can harm me?" the winged man laughed which annoyed Anon, not because he felt offended for being underestimated, but because this man was an idiot, no matter how powerful you are, there always someone stronger than you "I must admit you amuse me, as a reward I shall keep you alive as my toy" the winged man spoked again
"Emperor's teeth shut up already" Hotshot rounds were visible in the air as Isaac shouted towards the cultist, the laser shots simply disappeared on the psychic shield
Seeing his enemy distracted, Anon quickly moved to flank the head cultist, the enemy's mental barrier was utterly pathetic compared to the sorcerer he had faced before, maybe that was the reason he fell to chaos in the first place?
Anon cleared his mind from the question, there was no time for curiosity now, the enemy was about to cast, a psyker's mental shield is at its weakest when focusing on something else so this was his best chance to invade his opponent's mind. In only a few seconds, his seed of deception was planted in his mind.
"You stagnant dog" the head cultist's face turned to anger as he throws pure warp energy towards the trooper
"Oh shit!" Isaac said as closed his eyes he brought his arms in front of him to protect himself, when he opened his eyes he was shocked to see himself unharmed "What the..." Isaac muttered, he then looked towards the psyker beside him
"You will not die so long as I live Isaac" Anon said
The cultist's angry glare turned towards the masked figure beside Isaac "You have bothered me enough!" he roared as he focused his power to attack the figure, as soon as the warp energy touched the figure, he disappeared as if he wasn't there from the beginning "Wha..." the head cultist's words were cut short as his vision turned upside down, his head fell to the ground, he then saw the masked man behind his body
"I had a harder time with the sorcerer" Anon said as his feet slowly touched the ground, his enemy has fallen for a cheap illusion, he could never hope to do the same thing to the marine sorcerer, but this one, this one was an idiot
To his credit, Anon was skilled in telepathy, unnaturally skilled, however, that does not excuse the anticlimactic defeat of the head cultist.
"I suppose my expectations were too high for a mere cultist" Anon sheathed his saber as he brought warp fire to his hands, he then proceeded to burn the corpses of the cultists. As he was burning the head cultist's body, he sensed a very strong emotion of sadness from him
~I am sorry... father...~ Anon paused for a moment after hearing his enemy's thoughts, Anon sensed the cultist's tainted soul as it left his body, with such power, his afterlife in warp will be hell
Isaac, who was still processing the situation looked confused upon seeing the burning corpses of the cultists 'That was it?' he questioned himself, he looked around, Anon who was standing next to him a few minutes ago, now he was in the other side of the room.
Anon saw the trooper approach him as he was burning the remaining corpses, they were not much of a threat anymore but it didn't hurt anyone to get rid of chaos-tainted bodies.
"Em..." Anon heard the trooper as he scratched his head "What in emperor's name happened?" he asked
Anon glanced at him before continuing his task "The "Head cultist" was not as powerful as we thought, quite disappointing really" Anon explained
"Is he dead then?" the trooper looked at the burning corpse of their target, strangely enough, it was smelled like a cooked bird
"His physical body is dead and soon enough his soul will be ripped apart by daemons, so to answer your question, yes" Anon answered
"I guess he wasn't what he cracked up to be, not gonna lie, I thought he would be tougher" Isaac said with a chuckle "So...what are we doing now?" the trooper asked
"Once I deal with the warp energies tainting the area, we will return to the extraction point" Anon answered "Now that he is dead, the efforts to retake the hive will be easier and the enemy won't be able to transfer this world into the immaterium"
Isaac nodded, he didn't say anything else, he simply stood there and watched the corpses burn.
(POV: Celliphus)
The group ran through heavy fire, Celliphus was busy protecting the group that she almost didn't realize the disappearance of the psychic signature of the leading cultist, she was momentarily shocked as she discovered that Inquisitor William's agents have succeeded in their mission. Despite her wish to feel joy in the death of the person that killed her comrades, she removed such thought, right now she had to survive the breakthrough.
Hundreds of cultists swarm around them, heedless of the death of their leader, they fired their autoguns and stubbers, some rounds found their mark as they pierced the weak points of their armor. Celliphus tried her best protecting her teammates, she hardened their skins to such a degree that bullets had a hard time penetrating them but even then some shots could pass her abilities if she lost focus.
As Celliphus momentarily lost her focus, a random bullet passed the weak part of her armor and wounded Helen's leg, she suddenly fell to her knee as the bullet hit her joint, seeing this William quickly pulled her to a cover, only he had enough strength to carry her. As they were moving to a nearby barricade, a cultist with heavy stubber pointed her gun towards them, before she could pull the trigger a blade cut through the back of her neck, she was paralyzed and fell to the ground bleeding, Avina then quickly moved towards her new target as she dodged bullets, her augmented flesh allowed for inhuman speed.
Inquisitor William dropped Helen to the ground nearby Celliphus, the purple-eyed woman behind William followed him but before she could fully take cover, a lasgun shot managed to pierce her helmet, her head blow up in bloody gore, some part of her blood spilled in Celliphus's face.
"Bloody throne, extraction point is 50 meters away, we need to find a way to push through" William said as he shot his bolt pistol, two cultists exploded as bolt round pierced their chests "Can you move?" William shouted as his voice was barely audible with the sound of gunshots echoing throughout the long corridor
"Damn heretics shot my knee joint, I can't move for a few minutes" Helen said as she pulled out a metal pipe from the wall, the steam came out from where the pipe once was
The group hold the barricade as they tried to not get shot, despite their skills and tenacity, they were at their limit, Celliphus barely had the energy to spare, William was running out of bullets, even Inquisitor William's assassin was at her limits. Celliphus almost fell into despair as a message came to William's vox, it was an old male voice Celliphus didn't recognize.
"My lord we are at the extraction point A, Where is your location?" the voice asked through the vox
"Thank the throne" Celliphus heard William say as he opened the vox unit in his helmet "We are 50-60 meters away from the extraction point, we are surrounded, Ishmael, send some units to gate SCER-2" William shouted to a vox unit
"Understood, units are on the way my lord" the vox fell silent again
"Hold the barricade, reinforcements are on route" William shouted as bullets passed by his head, the ones that hit him could not penetrate his armor
A few seconds later Celliphus notice a group of enemies closing to their position with grenades in hand, she focused her mind, with a thought a lightning bolt hit the grenades and caused them to explode, the explosion killed 7 cultists who were closing in on the group, she then shifted her attention to another hostile with a rocket launcher, her anger and frustration in current situation showed itself as the cultist's blood boiled inside his body.
Celliphus's body burned in pain as a bullet went through the barricade and wound her arm, she leaned on the wall and put her left hand on the wound to minimize the bleeding. Minutes passed as the party barely held their defenses, in meantime, Helen managed to craft a makeshift splint with the pipe and some cloth.
"The heretics will pay!" Helen shouted as she brought up her boltgun to help defend the barricade
With each round, a cultist fell to the ground in a gory display of explosion. Celliphus looked at her mistress, she noticed something behind her which the inquisitor didn't seem to notice.
"MISSILE!" Celliphus shouted
William looked back at the psyker and saw what she had said, a missile approach their position, William grabbed Celliphus and guarded her behind his power armor, Helen was too slow to notice as the missile blow out her left shoulder, she fell to the ground with as her heat blow up with her shoulder.
"Damn heretics!" William growled as he released the psyker
As William turned to face the enemy, a discipline ray of continuous las shots were seen, cultist ranks melted as they faced a new adversary with the element of surprise. soon the remaining hostiles retreated back and the party moved out of the barricade, but before that, William grabbed the package from Helen's backpack. The group soon joined the troopers and moved towards the extraction point.
As they were moving towards the extraction point, Celliphus who just lost her inquisitor looked around in confusion and anxiety, now that Helen was dead, where is she supposed to go? she doesn't have any authority to call Inquisitor's vessel nor did she know anyone to do help her, she already lost all of the people she knew.
She looked at Inquisitor William as he talked with a bulky man, his voice was exactly the same as the man on the vox, then another person joined into the group, the black assassin that was supporting them from the shadows, she was injured and bleeding but managed to keep herself walking. 'Thanks the emperor' she prayed under her breath, even if she didn't know what to do, at least she was alive.
"Where is Jermai, Mylin, and Isaac my lord? Are they dead?" Celliphus heard the bulky man ask
"Anon and Isaac were separated from us when we moved out to rescue the other Inquisitorial team, Sargent Mylin has been killed in action, as for Isaac and Jermai, I have yet to receive a news from them, have you met them when you came in?" William asked
"Unfortunately no my lord, I left two troopers to guard the transports, the other four are here, if they see them, we will be informed" Ishmael answered his eyes met with the white-haired women behind William "And who might you be?" Ishmael asked, Celliphus flinched slightly
"Em...I...my name is..." Celliphus tried to say something but the words she wanted didn't come out
"She is my new retinue member, her name is Celliphus I believe, make sure to welcome her" Inquisitor William answered before she could say anything, he turned to look at Celliphus and found her confused "You don't have anywhere else to go do you?" William asked
"I never thought of you as a charitable person my lord" Ishmael said sarcastically
"We only have one psyker on board other than the astropaths and the navigators, we could use more, Jermai may be a skilled psyker but he is not enough" William explained, upon hearing the words psyker, the assassin twitched, for some reason, it terrified Celliphus "Speak of the devil" William said out loud as he saw a masked man with Isaac standing next to a valkyrie
Celliphus stood there with a terrified expression, her face became pale as she saw the masked figure standing in the transport, he was not a human, he was a monster, she could sense the same amount of power she felt when she faced the head cultist, the amount of raw immaterial power emanating from the creature was ridiculous, it was impossible for a human to stay sane at that level.
As she was thinking about the origin of this monster, she completely frozen as he looked at her dead in the eye, he didn't use his power, it was a natural fear, a fear born out of instinct, and right now, her instincts were screaming at her to run away, she was like prey facing against a monster.
(POV: Anon)
Anon observed the white-haired psyker as she almost had a breakdown, for some reason he sensed fear in her psyche, she was frozen in fear. She was a young woman with long white hair, she was equipped with a force staff with an eye-shaped top, she wore a white dress like attire with a red cloak, there was an 'I' shaped neckless on her neck, she also had a laspistol and a knife on her hip.
"Is there something wrong Celliphus?" William asked the white-haired psyker
Hearing someone else's voice brought Celliphus back to normal "N-nothing Inquisitor" She said then hesitantly followed them to the transport
The valkyries took off from the hive, once again the vastness of the battle below was visible, Anon looked down with great interest, he read about vast battles of the imperial guard in the novels but seeing it in person was different, they looked more real, more reasonable than typical "Charge to that machinegun placement with your bayonet", there were proper tactics and strategies, the army moved the way it should and all of the leaders seemed confident.
"Isaac, Jermai" William called out both of their names, they looked at William in unison "I'm waiting for your report, Am I really have to say it out loud for you to report?" William asked with a disappointed look
"Well, he is dead bos... I mean my lord" Isaac quickly corrected himself
"And?"
"And what my lord?" Isaac asked
William sighed, he seemed tired "How did you kill it, did you dispose of the taint, did you gather any information that you think is important?" William questioned
"The head cultist is dead my lord, I disposed of the taint and body of the cultist close to him, as for information, unfortunately the head cultist did not live up to his name, he died before we could extract any useful information" Anon answered "The only information I managed to gather was his last words 'I am sorry, father' " Anon recalled his last words
"Anything else? the way he used his powers?" William asked
"Well the bird man did throw stuff...they were purple, pink, and blue" Isaac answered "That's all I saw before he lost his head"
"That it? just warp energy?" Willaim look at the duo, he was disappointed and confused
"Well, the whole ordeal ended in what? 8 minutes?" Isaac looked at the masked figure beside him "To be honest I just stood there, Jermai was beside me, then he wasn't, then suddenly the birdman lost his head" Isaac explained while William and the white-haired psyker was looking at Anon
"I utilized illusions to deceive him while I moved to finish him, what Isaac saw was my illusion standing beside him" Anon explained, the psyker girl's emotions were unreadable at this point, her psyche was a chaotic mess of confusion, her's was unlike Anon's, he always kept his psyche in order
"And you claim that was it? if it was such an easy task then how is it that 7 psyker could not take him down?" William asked, his hands were crossed
"That is not mine to answer my lord, you should direct that question to the psyker standing beside you" Anon explained as he looked back at the battlefield below
William's eyes were directed at Celliphus "Em...I" she stuttered, before she could say anything she was interrupted by William
"You can submit your report on the ship, at this state you barely can talk" William said, he was right, Celliphus had been in that hive under enemy assault for throne knows how long, she deserved some rest "Jermai, I leave her to your care" Inquisitor said, hearing this Celliphus's face turned pale while Anon didn't care "Her quarters will be next to yours, she will be your student from now on, do you understand?" William asked
"As you wish my lord" Anon answered, he was hit by an elbow from his left side
"Damn lucky bastard, living beside a cutey like that, aren't you happy?" Isaac said with a grin, Celliphus was still pale while Anon was not amused
'It is true that she was attractive, but so was Avina...NO! she is not!' Anon thought to himself, the only person who could find Avina attractive was him and that was because he didn't care for appearance as much as he cared for accomplishments, otherwise, by normal standards, Avina is considered terrifying and repulsive, sharp teeth, scars, tattoos, and a cybernetic eye tend to do that to normal people, Anon only found her attractive because of her power and skill, for him what you can do, mattered more than beauty, besides, Anon lost interest in relationships a long time ago, he can't and will never have a partner for all of them will wane while he lived on, that's what it meant to be a perpetual.
Anon sighed "Is that all you have in mind Isaac? please do not embarrass yourself in front of the Inquisitor" Anon said, Isaac looked to see a disappointed William looking at him
"I swear he is good at what he does, otherwise I would have thrown him into the void" William threatened Isaac who doesn't seem to care if he is going to be thrown into space "Let us return, I have much to report on" William sighed
The rest of the time on the planet went uneventful, the PDF and Imperial guard managed to capture parts of the hive, many from both sides had perished during few weeks, Anon dealt with those who have witnessed the daemons while William was in talks with the navy fleet that had an order to exterminatus the planet, those in the ally forces who have turned mad by chaotic influence had to be executed while Anon wipe the memories of daemons from sane ally forces. Normally the inquisition execute the witnesses but it didn't suit well with Anon.
As for the good news, Celliphus officially became part of William's main retinue, this however, bothered him, he was subjected to cruel torture and distrust before he became part of William's retinue, Anon felt a little envious, not that he wished harm on his new student.
'Why do I have to be tortured?' he questions himself.
"Am I doing this right master?" Celliphus asked, she was trying to shield her psyche like Anon but her mental shield was unrefined and looked paper-thin almost non-existing, either she was weak or he had no idea how bad mortal Imperial psykers standards were
"Try to shape your shield like clay, once you are satisfied with its shape, preserve it, it will harden itself through training, right now your defenses are terrible, if I wasn't here daemons would already claim your soul" Anon explained, unlike Imperium's soul ward which relied mostly on mental strength, his(Duran's) mental shield relied on psyker's own power, you have to shape it like a fortress to protect your soul, more you train better it will get
Anon observed Celliphus's psyche as she tried to shape it, she was getting better but it will take at least another year or two before it's on an acceptable level. During their training, Anon noticed a few things:
Celliphus had a talent for two disciplines, one being biomancy while another one was divination, it surprise Anon how much potential she had in divination, with training and time she could be far better than Anon in divination, though comparing her talent to him was a bad standard since he was utterly pathetic in that discipline, he'd trained for hundred years and in the end, all he could see was few seconds into future.
"Much better, it seems you are blessed with a powerful mind, use it well acolyte" Anon praised his pupil, when he first started to train Celliphus, he was shocked with her fast learning ability, he was slightly jealous at first but couldn't help but feel happy for his disciple
Hearing praise from Anon, the white-haired psyker tried to hide her smile from her master but failed. seeing this Anon smiled under his mask, it felt good to help his own kind in any way, he was growing to like the crew of this ship even if some of them hate him, for them, the hate for psykers was natural, he can gain their trust through the years. His feeling of kinship was even more with Celliphus since she was a psyker like himself, she must have a hard life within an imperium that hates her, yet despite that, she was still loyal, this is something he can respect.
"Our training will cease for time being" Anon said as he sat at his table
"But master, I can still go on!" Celliphus protested "Can we not continue?" she asked looking at him with eyes full of plea
"I understand your desire for learning something new Celliphus but do not be so hasty, seeking new knowledge to the point of obsession is dangerous" Anon answered, he needed to keep her in check lest she will become addicted to knowledge, and he knew which dark god favors such people
Hearing his words Celliphus reluctantly agreed, and stood up from the ground, she shakes off the dust from her cloth and sits on a chair in front of her teacher, Anon looks up at her as he puts down the book he wanted to read.
"Does your own quarters not suit you that you choose to stay?" Anon asked
"No, nothing like that master, it's just..." Celliphus paused "May I ask a question?" She requested
"You may ask acolyte but know this, not all questions can be answered" Anon replied
Celliphus looked hesitant for a second, she looked around as she pondered whether it was right to ask such a question or not, for a moment Anon thought to read her mind but decided against it, just the surface thought was enough. Celliphus, after some moments, managed to gather enough courage to ask "How did you stay sane?" she asked
"Are you perhaps mean, how I stayed sane before I started my training?" Anon asked which received a nod from his pupil, he thought for a few minutes which was very awkward for Celliphus, he can't say that he already had a mental shield before he realized it
When Anon first came into this universe, he didn't know he was a psyker, only after realizing that fact and training through Duran's notes did he discover his mental shield, it wasn't as good as it was today but it kept the daemons out long enough that with effort and time, his mental shield became what it was today.
"I had a master who mentored me when my power manifested itself, he became my shield against the warp predators while I perfected my shield, and before you ask he is dead" Anon lied
"Oh, I am sorry, master" Celliphus apologized
"Your not the fault in my master's demise acolyte, your apology is unnecessary" Anon denied her apology
"Still, that must have been hard, for what it is worth, I am sorry, master" Celliphus apologize again, Anon simply nodded to her words "Can I ask another question?"
Anon sighed "Very well, you may ask another but only one"
"How old are you master?" Celliphus asked
"Is there any reason for such invasive questions?" Anon asked
"I just wished to know how you attained such mastery over psionics master, your feats cannot be achieved with a lifetime" Celliphus explained, she did have a point, the only people who can match Anon were either Eldar or librarians, he is yet to test himself with powerful daemons "Also...I am curious...a bit" Celliphus added
Anon thought for a second before answering "I cannot say my age for certain for it is lost, even to me, my world did not operate on the standard Terran calendar, but I can say this for certain, I am older than most onboard this ship save for magos, their kind tends to live the longest within the imperium" Anon explained, he did not lie nor did he tell the truth
"I see, how abou..." her question was interrupted
"Save your words for later, it seems like you are in need" said the masked man, Celliphus looked confused before her stomach started to growl, her face turned red with embarrassment before she excused herself and left the room, Anon sighed as the door closed "What is wrong with young ones these days"
After Celliphus left his room, Anon continued his study, well... he mostly stole the knowledge from ship's magos, with his limited understanding of physics and electronics, he was unable to understand the entirety of the books, so he slowly "Acquired" them from magos's mind, with this he was able to somewhat understand the texts, though this process will take a long time since the required knowledge was tremendous. Before he could finish his daily "Study", he sensed someone approaching his room.
"Wacha doing Jermai?" the trooper shouted as he barged into Anon's room, he was holding a tray with two plates on it "I see that you had your fun, you must be hungry now" Isaac said with a grin
'I want to punch him' Anon thought to himself "Would you stop mistaking Celliphus as my lover? do not possess any decency?" Anon said with an annoyed face though his mask did not show it
"Oo come on, don't be so shy, we all men aren't we? What's wrong with having some fun?" Isaac said as he put the plates on the table, since their last mission, he took the liberty to invite himself to share meals with Anon
"She is my student Isaac, where I came from, such relationships are taboo, so you will cease such assumptions" Anon growled at Isaac
"Ey ey, let's calm down now, no need to get hostile" Isaac said as he sat on the chair in front of Anon
Anon sighed as he took off his mask to eat, his illusion was always on when he took it off, for others his face would be a complete blur. The psyker looked at Isaac as he was devouring his food with little to no dining skill, perhaps Anon is too clean for this galaxy, perhaps it was because of his age.
He would be lying if he said he didn't like Isaac's company, he always used to eat alone, even though he had an introverted nature, it was becoming quite depressing. Besides Isaac, the only people who were willing to see and talk to him were his student, Ishmael, and William, though Inquisitor mostly came for advice, suffice to say, he enjoyed it.
"Man, no matter what I can't get used to it" Isaac said while pointing towards Anon's face
"Hmmm, perhaps you would prefer this instead" Anon said as he changed the illusion, suddenly, Isaac jumped from his chair as an ork warboss appeared in front of him, his reaction amused Anon
"Whoa, is that really you?" Isaac asked, it seems that the image of a giant ork eating food like a nobleman with a little knife and fork was quite amusing to the trooper, he laughed, it only stopped when Anon returned to the usual blur face "Ah come on, we were just having fun" Isaac whined "Do one more" Isaac requested with an excited face of a 12 year old
"Are you aware that each time a psyker changes an illusion, he risks a psychic explosion?" Anon informed the trooper
"Wait...what? you ain't gonna explode in my face aren't you?" Isaac asked with a pale face
"Likely no" Anon answered as he continued his meal, the trooper protested and demanded a proper answer but Anon ignore him
Auther here:
The character Celliphus is heavily inspired by the main character of the story 'Wizard of maloc', it was shamelessly taken by me with the permission of the author :b (What? did you expect professionalism from me?) I suggest you everyone who enjoyed my story to check it out, and before you ask, the similarities between our stories are purely coincidental and I did discuss it with the author of the 'TheArchitectOfFate'.
Also Anon doesn't know his exact age since the day and night cycle of Thule was different than that of the earth, he is somewhere between 1000 to 800.
The main antagonist of the chapter was weak, he only had raw power and little to no training, the traitor marine that had killed Anon was far more threatening than the cultist in this chapter, so yeah, train your psychic powers kids, otherwise, you'll get killed.
