The Dark Heir

Chapter 20: The Second Year
Harry sits on the train with Delphi, Dora, and Draco. Daphne Greengrass and her best friend Tracy Davis also sit down.
"How was your journey down Diagon Alley?" asks Daphne.
By now, everyone has heard what happened at Flourish and Blotts.
Arthur was publicly shamed for his attack on Lucius Malfoy.
So the Weasley family got some howlers when Lily and Harry Black got caught up by Arthur's actions.
"The Minister ended up apologizing to my mom for Weasley's actions," says Harry.
Draco grins at the thought of the Weasley family grovel because of their father's stupidity.
"I may end up hating this year," says Delphi.
"Because of Lockhart?" says Dora.
"Thank Merlin he didn't see our mothers yesterday. He would have done something stupid," says Delphi.
"Like announce an engagement," says Harry.
The Blacks shudder at the thought of having Lockhart as a father-in-law.
"This is going to be a terrible year," says Dora.
"Terrible! Potter and Longbottom are arses enough, but now we have to deal with Lockhart!" Delphi shrieks.
"Any else feel like skipping his classes as we do with Binns?" mutters Harry.
Professor Binns is a ghost who teaches History of Magic. He was so dull who only went on about Goblin Rebellions. Draco, Daphne, Tracy, Delphi, and Dora skipped his classes to have fun.
"Did you hear the recent news?" says Draco.
"What news?" asks Harry.
"Ron Weasley is trying to set up an arranged marriage between Longbottom and that carrot he calls a sister," says Draco.
"That's disturbing," says Dora.
"How thick is Weasley?" says Delphi.
"More like smart," says Harry.
Everyone looks at him carefully.
"The Weasley family has nothing of any real value. If that little tramp marries Longbottom, then Ron's future would be secure. Ron could become a retainer or vassal under Longbottom."
"True. For many witches and wizards who have no value behind their family, becoming a vassal or retainer is the best way to go. It means your future is secure under that wizard," says Delphi.
"Longbottom will have countless sponsors behind him. So anyone fortunate to become his retainer will have a good future," says Dora.
"We all know how desperate Weasley is for gold. Become Longbottom's retainer with his sister marrying him will set him up for life," says Draco.
"I honestly don't care. But I already know the trio will become a bigger arse in doing so," mutters Harry.
Olivia says nothing knowing how her brother and best friend truly were.
James had already promised his sister as his concubine.
As she was in a difficult position.
James was proud to be the son of James Potter.
Olivia was not.
On one side, people would speak of how great James Potter was before his death.
On the other, others disdain James Potter, calling him a swine and horrible wizard.
Professor Snape is one of them.
Even Lily Black showed an unusual amount of hatred towards James Potter.
Olivia heard that her brother behaves much like his father. Believe himself to be better than others around him.
Olivia compares her brother to Harry Black.
The two share some similarities, but those similarities are so different.
Both are intelligent and talented with magic.
James is obnoxious, while Harry is considerate.
Harry is kind, while James is arrogant.
The group says nothing more as they reach Hogsmeade Station.
They all got on the carriage towards the castle.
Harry looks at Hogsmeade and remembers all the stories his mother told him about visiting the village during her time at Hogwarts. She even retold the stories of how she would sneak out of the school during her Hogsmeade weekend to be with Harry's father.
The ride to the castle was uneventful.
Once they were inside, Harry sat at Slytherin's table once they were inside, ignoring much of the feast.
His mother's attitude as of late bothered him.
Harry didn't want to say she was hiding something. Rather it was more than something had been bothering her, and she wasn't speaking to him about it.
Harry tries to think about what would be bothering her.
A past flame?
No.
Other than James Potter Sr., No one has really been interested in his mother other than the occasional love letters she's received over the years.
He knew James Potter had been attempting to swoon his mother since their days at Hogwarts.
Harry knew James Potter didn't love his mother. Rather he loved her beauty and wanted her to be among his conquest. His mother saw through his demeanor and refused to even be in the same room as him.
Seeing James Potter and Neville Longbottom, it was clear that the two didn't respect anyone other than themselves.
Harry was deep in his thoughts. He almost missed Dumbledore dismissing the school.
The next few days were uneventful as Harry and the rest returned to their daily routines.
"Yo, Black!" shouts Marcus Flint.
Harry turns to look at the towering seventh year.
"You're off the team," Flint says with a smile.
Harry looks at Flint in confusion.
Marcus Flint has never liked Harry and hated that the Slytherin's preferred Harry over Flint as the Quidditch Captain.
"Then I hope this year you'll win us the Quidditch Cup," says Harry.
Flint grins his teeth in frustration as his smile disappears.
Last year they were flattened by Ravenclaw. Flint had played, so terribly Slytherin actually booed him off the field.
"You little shit," Marcus Flint says, grabbing Harry's robes.
"Problem," a voice says behind them.
Flint's eyes opened wide as he knew Professor Snape was standing behind him.
"Nothing Professor," Flint says as he lets go of Harry.
"I see you've removed Harry Black from the Quidditch team. I trust you've found a suitable replacement for our rising young star," says Snape.
Flint says nothing as he stares at Professor Snape with a lockjaw.
Harry takes this opportunity to slip away, leaving Marcus Flint with the Head of Slytherin.
Harry walks with Delphi, Dora, and Artemis in tow.
Harry had much on his mind, but Lockhart's attitude disturbed him greatly.
Neville and James already have taken a liking to Lockhart and immediately began crater Lockhart for favors.
Lockhart had called Harry into his office to ask of his mother.
Harry rebuff's Lockhart questions, telling him they were not related to Defense Against the Dark Arts. He did not have to share any information regarding his family.
Lockhart remains persistent.
Lockhart passed Harry information stating he expected to see his mother at Hogsmeade weekend to deepen their relationship.
Harry felt sick talking to the man who had a very sick fantasy regarding his mother.
Harry warns his mother of Lockhart's sick obsession and advises her not to come to Hogwarts.
Black Family Manor
Lily reads her son's letter and feels uneasy.
As they suspected, Lockhart is attempting to use their children to get close to them.
Already Lockhart is under some illusion that Lily is promised to him.
Lily knew why he wasn't pursuing Bellatrix and Andromeda. They were purebloods while they believed her to be a muggleborn.
Lily would be far easier to coax into marriage than the Black Sisters.
With Gilderoy Lockhart's fame and gold, he could marry any witch he wanted.
Why was he so fixated on witches who had no interest in him.
Lily suspects he had no desire to be a father.
So he had no interest in being a father figure towards her son and the Black Children.
By now, she would have thought people would learn she wouldn't give up anything for her son.
Lily says nothing as she puts the letter down and walks towards the mirror.
Magical mirrors were dangerous, as they can mess with your minds by showing you desires.
Didn't mean what they showed was true.
Lily stares at herself, pregnant once more and with her son holding her.
Was Lily cursed?
Trap between her father and her son?
Two more years, but to Lily, it felt like an eternity.
How long has it been since she's been touched?
Held?
Satisfy?
Lily's body began to develop uncontrollable urges.
She needed something to satisfy herself.
Did this part of her always exists, or did her father merely create her in his image.
Lily drops her robes and ponders if this was truly her desire.
There are so many lies surrounding her life and lineage she doesn't know what to believe anymore.
Lily begins to think about her time with her father and master.
He wanted a son.
Yet, upon meeting their son, he discarded him so quickly.
Lily has learned much magic under her father.
Even secrets to the Dark Arts.
She knew more than her sister, Bellatrix.
Lily thinks carefully.
She spent much time with her father, yet she knew so little about him.
She thinks back to when her son was born to her father's disappearance.
He was anguish. Afraid.
Lily thinks back and reminds how much he was paying attention to their son's health and magic.
Lily being young, was very naïve. She thought he was a loving father.
Lily begins to think back and remembers what her son told her about their father's appearance and words. Even his actions were disturbing.
Lily tries to think about her father's true goal.
Bellatrix did tell her he was after immorality.
"Could it be…" mutters Lily.
It couldn't be.
Such magic shouldn't exist… could it?
