Okay so this is Kallura…its just more so in spirit! Whatever that means. This was different to what I usually write but not really thinking about them since it makes my heart happy to write these.
Keith knew it was his own fault that Allura had moved on – so he had no reason for it to sting every time he saw her with Lotor whenever he visited. He was the one who had been avoiding her ever since the letter and she wasn't bound to wait on him forever especially when he hadn't given her a clear answer. That wasn't fair on her. Still, this was Lotor and while he didn't seem entirely bad now, he felt it necessary that he do this before he left. He walked over to where Lotor and Allura were talking, clearing his throat.
"Lotor, can I talk to you for a moment?" Keith asked, making sure to keep his gaze on the half-Altean prince and not on Allura because he knew his heart would waver if he looked at her. It would hurt too much that she had moved on. He could feel her eyes on him though and he shifted a bit.
"Certainly," Lotor replied. "Give me a tic, Princess. I will be right back. As I assume your friend wants some privacy from the expression on his face." He smiled and moved to walk in another direction. Keith followed, still refusing to look at Allura as the two of them moved away to a separate corner to talk. He looked around to make sure no one was listening before focusing on Lotor.
"Listen, Lotor," Keith said, deciding not to fake being polite about it because that was a bit hard anyway and this was about Allura. "Allura's a really special person and she's already been through a lot."
Lotor frowned a bit at this momentarily but just as quickly, his expression cleared. "I realise this and despite all of your reservations in trusting me, I am on your side. I want to help Allura and the other Paladins." He paused before speaking again. "She means a lot to me too."
"Then don't you dare go back on that and hurt her," Keith said, protectiveness surging in his tone, the words containing an unspoken warning as he said that. "If you break her heart, I will make you pay, Lotor." Maybe he had no right saying that to him, not when he hadn't responded to Allura's feelings but in a sense, he felt that put more responsibility on his shoulders. Allura didn't deserve to be hurt anymore than she already had been.
Lotor was silent for a bit and watched him. Keith couldn't figure out whether he had taken his threat seriously or not, but he kept his gaze firm on the other man. Allura deserved only the best and he knew he wasn't so if Lotor wasn't either, then he didn't deserve to be within ten miles of her.
"You love her, don't you?" Lotor finally said, staring at him.
Keith felt his face flush and he frowned, shaking that away. "What are you talking about?" He was definitely not that obvious or Allura would have been able to tell how he felt, she was smart after all, wasn't she?
Lotor chuckled and shook his head. "Nothing. I assure you that I will never hurt her. Not just because I do not wish to make an enemy out of the Black Paladin but because I do genuinely care for her. You have no reason to worry."
Keith nodded slowly. "I'll hold you to that then."
