Hi all, back again with another MRU based story. Please read, review and tell me what you think. This is going to be a lead up story to Gabby and Steve's baby being born and the adventures of the Taylor family and extended family. This is an AU and OOC for some parts. Set after S12E37.

6 months later

It was another busy day for the MRU at All Saints Western General Hospital set in the busy city of Sydney. Mike Vlasek was sitting at his desk after coming back from a life saving kidney transplant. He still had two weeks before he could rejoin his paramedic Jo Mathieson and doctor Adam Rossi out in the field.

Mike sighed as he closed another file, he was startled when there was a knock on the door. There stood Steve Taylor.

"Steve, what are you doing here?" Mike asked, waving him in and shaking his hand when he was close enough.

"Gabby has an appointment, she's downstairs chatting to Jo. Jo doesn't look happy either, I'm calling that the last job didn't end to well," Steve said sitting down across from Mike.

"Shit, not again. That would be the fifth patient this week," Mike said dropping his pen and leaning back in his chair whilst rubbing his face with his hand, at the same time said team walked off the elevator with Gabby. Jo's eyes were red-rimmed from crying.

"I'm gonna go clean up," she said quietly, walking away quickly to the change rooms, closing the door behind her.

"Give her 20," Mike said as Steve went to go after her. "Trust me, I learnt the hard way." The team had a slight laugh at the memory before the room fell quiet and somber again.

"It was a kid Mike, it was not an easy one today." Adam said breaking the silence, everyone lowered their hand. Gabby rubbed her belly where her unborn child was.

After 20 minutes Jo emerged, showered and dressed in civilian clothing. She sat down and made a start on her paperwork. "So, Gabby and I are thinking of coming back. And If Jo can live out of town of an hour then why can't we. Cause we only live about 15 minutes from you," Steve said looking over at her as she lifted her head and nodded.

"You're welcome to come back to your job," Mike said as Adam nodded in agreeance. Adam would still be helping the team until Mike finally returned in a couple of weeks.

"Thank you," Steve said shaking his hand with a smile on his face.

"Look's like its been a rough week. We are having a get together with the rest of the ED tonight, come out and stay the night," Gabby said to the MRU, looking around at the team.

"Sounds good to me," Jo said breaking her silence, Mike nodded his head.

"We will see you there, I'll bring Von out too. She would love seeing you all again," Adam said, as he walked out the door with a wave and a see you soon.

"It's settled, I'll send you the address Jo," Gabby said hugging her tightly before they took their leave.

Mike stood and walked over to Jo, resting a hand on her shoulder. "I'll let Ops know that we are out of action tonight and tomorrow." Mike said as Jo stood and shouldered her messenger bag and pulled her keys out of the front pocket.

"Thank you. I'm going to head downstairs and check on the parents of the kid. I'll grab Bree while I'm down there so I can take you both home to grab stuff." Jo said, walking to the elevator.

"No worries, I'll be down soon." Mike said as Jo smiled a small smile at him before the elevator doors closed. It wasn't her usual Jo smile.

Downstairs-ED

"Bree, let's go!" Jo said dragging the young woman away from the intern Elliott, whom she was flirting with.

"Okay, I already have a bag of stuff so I don't need to go home." Bree said following Jo out to her new Tuscon Highlander where Mike was waiting.

"Ready to go?" Mike asked, as Jo opened the boot of the car so they could put their stuff in.

"Yep, did you go home already?" Jo asked, closing the boot and walking around to the drivers side.

"No, just got some stuff out of my locker," He said as Bree connected her phone to the Bluetooth and began playing music. Jo laughed as she reversed out of the car park.

Jaegar Family Farm

Meanwhile on the farm, Gabby was chatting Steve's ear off. "I have an idea," she said as they sat out the front waiting on their guests to arrive.

"What's that?" He asked, looking over at her and her growing baby bump. Gabby was 6 months along now and showing quite well.

"Let's have a gender and godparent reveal," Gabby said, gauging Steve's reaction carefully.

A big grin splintered his face. "Absolutely. You choose the godmother and I'll choose the godfather." He said as Gabby nodded with excitement.

Gabby was that excited she got up and walked to the screen door. "I'm going to go make copies of our scans and make little asking cards." She said with a big smile on her face.

"And get Bree to organise the gender reveal when she gets here," Steve said as Gabby disappeared into her crafts room to make a start.

Gabby emerged from her crafts room an hour and half later as the first of their guests arrived. "Welcome," Steve said hugging Jo and Bree while shaking hands with Mike, as Gabby hugged them all as well.

"We are having a BBQ, but not only that. We are naming godparents and finding out Bean's gender." Gabby said excitedly as she handed Bree a card. "Oh this is the gender, everything is in this room Bree. So go have fun."

It was an hour later when everything was ready. It was a rather hot night so Jo popped on a strapless white dress that fell to her knees and some sandals. As she walked to the door she scraped her hair up put a clip around it.

"Come on Jo," Bree said herding her towards the hallway impatiently.

"So impatient," Mike commented walking past. They went outside to find that most of the ED had arrived. Bree squealed in Jo's ear causing her to startle backwards into Mike who grabbed her shoulders to steady her.

"Thanks," Jo said as they watched Bree hug Cate McMasters. Mike gave her a smile and wave as Jo walked over towards Frank, Bart and Amy.

"Jo, I need to ask you something," Amy said, as she handed Jo a glass of her favourite wine.

"My favourite wine, must be good." Jo joked as the others laughed with her.

"Will you be my bridesmaid?" Amy asked as Jo was taken aback by her question.

"I would love to," Jo said hugging the younger woman as Bree barrelled them over with one of her hugs. Again.

"Cate this is Jo. Jo this is Cate," Bree said making introductions. Cate had recently come back to the NSW Ambulance Service.

"Hi," Jo said shaking her hand as Mike joined the group again.

"Mike, how are you?" Cate asked nodding her head towards him.

"Good thanks," he replied as Gabby shushed everyone as they had an announcement to make.

"Thank you all for coming. We have a couple of reveals tonight. First being our gender reveal," Gabby said as Bree brought out a black balloon and placed the weight on the table in front of the excited parents.

"Ready?" Bree asked, Steve and Gabby nodded their heads as Bree handed them a needle each to prick the balloon with. "3...2...1..."
