Tree Hare

It was a cold winter day as the sun rose in the reddish-pink sky. It was late December, the most festive time of year.

Inside his rabbit hole, Bugs Bunny was putting up decorations around his home. As he did he sang carols to himself.

"Sing we joyous, all together. Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la." Bugs sung. He smiled as he looked around his front room.

"Not a bad job if I say so myself." Bugs said. "Now all I need is a Christmas tree."

He exited from his rabbit hole, with a winter cap and gloves and walked through the snow-covered forest to find the perfect Christmas tree.

Meanwhile a dark blue truck with a few rusty spots, parked in the forest car park. Out of the truck came Yosemite Sam in a dark brown winter coat and hat. He hummed to himself as he went to the back of the truck to get a saw and a net. He turned to face the audience before he spoke.

"I may hate the cold weather this time of year brings but I do love Christmas." then he leaned forward to whisper the next part. "Mostly for the presents." Sam said before letting out a chuckle.

He closed the back of the truck and walked into the forest to find a Christmas for himself.

Bugs walked through the woodlands. He saw serval trees that could make a good one for his home.

"Hmm, this one?" he said looking at a small one. "Nar too small for the ornaments."

He walked a little more. "How about this one?" he said as he came to a ten-foot one. "Hm, too big, I'd never been able to get it home."

He walked a little more and came to another bigger tree than the first but smaller than the second one. Bugs' eyes widened in amazement and a large open smile came across his face. "It's perfect!" he shouted in a joyful tone. Then rushed out of the scene and a few seconds later came back with a saw to cut down the tree.

Sam meanwhile was walking through the forest and saw the same tree that Bugs had chosen.

"Now there's a perfect tree for Christmas." Sam said and went to it but before he could cut it down he saw the rabbit cutting it whilst humming The twelve days of Christmas.

"Eh Whatup Doc?" Bugs said as he munched on a carrot.

"Look here you varmint. This here is my tree." Sam shouted.

"Well I hate to break it to you shorty but..." Bugs changed his voice to sound like the red-headed man and changed his pose to match that of Sam. "...This here is my tree." Then he went back to cutting down the tree.

Suddenly Sam grabbed the rabbit by the neck.

"It's my tree, now get lost you bucktooth rodent!" Sam said. Then he kicked Bugs sending the grey rabbit flying through the air. Sam dusted his hands and went to cut down the tree.

A few miles away, Bugs landed on the snow coved ground with a thud. Bugs got out of the rabbit-shaped crater with some snow on his face which looked like a white beard. He shook it off and glared angrily in the direction that he had been kicked from.

"Of course you realize that this means war." Bugs said.

Back at the tree, Sam was cutting it down.

"You-who." a feminine sound voice said.

Sam turned around to see Bugs in a woman's winter coat with long eyelashes, a blonde wig and cherry red lipstick.

Hearts appeared in Sam's eye and he let out a wolf whistle at who he thought was a woman.

Bugs walked up to Sam and bent down to meet him at his eye line.

"I couldn't help but notice such a strong handsome man cutting down this tree." Bugs said whilst stroking Sam's hairy chin.

Sam let out a chuckle, not seeing Bugs walk behind him. Bugs then kicked Sam, sending him flying through the air.

"Happy landings." Bugs shouted as he took off the disguise.

Sam landed in a snow pile. It melted as Sam's temperature rose and he turned red angry.

Bugs was cutting the tree when a finger pocked him. The rabbit turned around to see Sam standing behind him with a dull expression.

"Why did you kick me into the cold snow?" Sam asked rhetorically in a monotone voice. Then he pulled out to guns and fired them at Bugs. He jumped missing the bullets, he ran as fast as he could with Sam chasing after him, firing more bullets as he did so.

"Hold still so I can blast your no good carcass, you tree stealing critter!" Yosemite yelled.

Bugs jumped into the snow and dug through the ground to escape the angry little man.

"Where you go you varmint?" Sam asked. Then he saw the mound of Bugs digging through the ground. Sam chased after the mound, shooting at it as he did so.

"Hm, better put it into top gear and go a little deeper." Bugs said. Then he dug quicker and deeper into the ground. The mound slowly disappeared and Sam stopped and looked around. He scratched his head in confusion as to where the rabbit had gone.

"Oh, Sammy." Bugs said.

Sam turned around to see Bugs standing next to the tree, which he had just finished cutting.

"TIMBER!" Bugs shouted.

The tree fell with a thud hitting Sam, whose eyes widened in fear, on the head and pushing him to the ground.

Bugs walked up to the tree and pick it and dragged it back to his home.

Sam pocked his out of the snow and looked to the audience.

"I hate that rabbit." he said.

Back in his rabbit hole, Bugs had just finished decorating the tree. He stood and looked at it, proud of his work. Then he turned around and munched on a candy cane and spoke to the audience.

"And that's the end. Merry Christmas folks."
