Hello and welcome to another experimental fanfic of Mieruko-Chan, in which a new inspiration popped into my head in an unexpected way, and decided to try this out…
This started after reading the current chapters of Mieruko-Chan, which Miko and Mitsue are embroiled in some supernatural shenanigans, whilst Hana BUMPS into Kyosuke and drags him to a pastry shop claiming that they are GOING ON A DATE, and seeing the two gave me ideas to make an impromptu story.
Since Kyosuke is the first male to be introduced, I figured that he would make a good pairing with Hana, and thus it led me to the creation of this rather semi-romantic plot.
Given that the anime stated that Kyosuke is in 5th grade, meaning that he is 11 years old, I will tweaked this fic a bit by having him as a 12-year old (hence a 6th grader) while Hana is 16 (she and Miko will be portrayed as 2nd year students in high school).

Ch. 1: A Flyer For An Upcoming Contest / Kongo no kontesuto no chirashi
The scene shifts at the high school where Miko Yotsuya studies, and it became quite a chore for her to keep her wits throughout the day due to her seemingly secret ability to see ghosts, as they seemingly tried to make her acknowledge their presence, which she responded by making it appear that she did not notice them.
Because she had to put up with her daily life in dealing with the supernatural shenanigans, her classmate and best friend, Hana Yurikawa is clueless about Miko's seemingly odd behavior, due to the fact that Hana doesn't have the ability to see ghosts, and is unaware of the fact that she herself is attracting some spirits towards her due to her aura.
Hana had to ask if Miko is okay, which the latter had to come up with some alibi to keep Hana in the dark as well as to throw off the spirits from finding out that she can see them and thus protect Hana.
"Are you sure you're okay, Miko?"
"Yeah. I'm okay."
"I don't know…you're acting really strange…"
"I'm fine…really!"
"You sure…?"
"I'm sure!"
"Miko…"
"Honestly, Hana!"
By then a teacher came and told the two girls that classes are about to start, and both Miko and Hana went to their seats as the teacher told the class that they are going to tackle about historical and political couples, including CONTROVERSIAL individuals who are locked in romance but ended up separating, such as Bonnie and Clyde, Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky up to the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and as the minutes passed, Miko and Hana, along with their classmates, listened as the teacher gave a rather long lecture.
Hana was listening intently while Miko stared at the window where she saw a stray spirit glancing, and Miko had to put up a brave face and pretended that she saw nothing.
Then another stray spirit appeared under Hana's table and is staring between her legs, and Miko had to use her willpower not to freak out in order to make the spirit think that she did not notice her.
Hana whispered to Miko and said that she recalled watching a DVD movie at her home that featured aforementioned couples who were romantically linked at that time, mentioning the movies like Mr. And Mrs. Smith and the Twilight trilogy, which Miko just nodded as the stray spirit is still here staring at Hana's crotch area.
"You know, Miko..."
"Yeah?"
"I sort of recalling watching a DVD…which feature the ones that our teacher mentioned…"
"Uh-huh…"
"I have to admit…they really are controversial…"
"Uh-huh…"
"I guess couples flaunting their public display of affection and then publicly breaking up…it's probably a trend now, right?"
"Uh-huh…"
After several minutes classes ended, and there the classmates asked Hana if she has any suitors, which she said that she doesn't have any at the moment, and there they teased that Miko is constantly acting as a chaperone and is probably the reason why Hana doesn't even get visits from boys, which Hana defended Miko from the silly accusations.
"Come on…Miko is not like that…"
"Hmmm…?"
"Oh…?"
"Really…?"
"Its true!"
"Hmmm…? Are you sure…?"
"Oh…? So Miko is now a bodyguard…?"
"Really…? Then how come you don't have suitors…?"
The classmates then told Miko to go easy a little bit, stating that they are now in their 2nd year in high school, in which they are all 16 years old, thus it's about time for Hana to entertain suitors and urged Miko to stop acting like a strict parent to Hana.
Laughter echoed classroom as Miko was mentally relieved as the spirits that were harassing Hana left as they went for Kido-sensei, who happened to pass by and now Miko felt like she can relax now.

Much later, classes ended and both Miko and Hana were walking by the sidewalk when they passed by Mr. D, and there she began to have a craving for doughnuts and tells Miko that she is going to buy a box (consisting of 12 doughnuts), which Miko sighed and asked if her tummy didn't have any holes.
"Are you serious..."
"Yup!"
"Won't you get any upset stomach…?"
"Of course not!"
"…"
"I'm always hungry, you know!"
"Seriously…?"
"Seriously!"
Despite the punchline, Miko nevertheless went with Hana as there two girls went inside and soon left after Hana bought a box, and while walking they came across the intersection where the two girls are heading for separate directions, and there Miko tells Hana to be careful, which the latter assured that she will be okay.
As Miko left, Hana walked as she is heading on her way home when she came across a convenience store where a flyer is posted, which it says that a contest is to be held this Saturday, where three boxes of very delicious pastry breads are up for grabs, and Hana is seen drooling in excitement.
A pair of high school girls passed by and we're creeped at what Hana is doing, and mistook her for someone having RABIES because of the way she is drooling and both discreetly avoided her out of fear of getting ATTACKED.
"Eeep…"
"This way…"
"What's with her…?"
"She's…drooling…"
"I think she has rabies…"
"Damn…she might bite us…"
"Better keep away from her…"
"Right…"
Hana appeared to be oblivious as she was staring at the flyers while drooling, hence she didn't notice that other passerby were becoming apprehensive and assume that she is suffering from rabies and that they are contemplating in calling the paramedics.
"Should we call 119…?"
"Call the cops…"
"Maybe the army…"
"Are you serious…?"
"What if she's a zombie…?"
"You crazy?"
"Almost a psychopath…"
"Idiot…"

At the Yotsuya residence, Miko arrived at her house, where her younger brother, Kyosuke, aged 12 years old, greeted her, and there he asked her how her day is, which she just said that it is fine as usual, yet he can tell that something happened yet she is not showing it and not telling.
Kyosuke asked if someone is bullying her at school, and not wanting to drag her younger brother into some pointless debate, she assured to him that she has no enemies at school whatsoever, though Kyosuke remained suspicious.
"Are you sure you're okay, nee-chan?"
"Yeah. I'm okay."
"I don't know…you're acting like you've been antagonized…"
"I'm fine, Kyosuke…honest!"
"You sure…?"
"I'm sure!"
"Nee-chan…you don't have to hide it…"
"Honestly, Kyosuke!"
Kyosuke wasn't buying it and asked her in a concerned tone what really happened at her school during the day, and she reluctantly told her what went on, which he sweat-dropped at hearing that her classmates are telling her that she is acting like a strict parent to Hana which is possibly why Hana hasn't gotten a suitor yet.
Kyosuke sighed and said that Miko's classmates are probably right, as he pointed out that Miko was always CLINGING to Hana and jokingly stated that her actions might give the wrong impression to her classmates and they might think that Miko and Hana are ENGAGING in a LESBIAN relationship.
Veins popped on both sides of her forehead, annoyed at her younger brother's theory and she smacked Kyosuke on the head, and he clutched his head in pain and asked Miko why she did that and there Miko grabbed him and trapped him in the Hurt Lock (a wrestling finishing move performed by WWE superstar Bobby Lashley).
Kyosuke screams out in pain as Miko tells him he got the wrong idea and said that she and Hana are BEST FRIENDS and nothing more, which he apologized and pleaded to his elder sister to let him go. Miko wasn't thoroughly convinced and increases the pressure and asked Kyosuke if he thinks she is a lesbian, which he fearfully said that he take back what he insinuating, which Miko smirked and asked if he is sure.
"Really…?"
"Really!"
"Are you still insisting that Hana and I are…"
"I take it back! I take it back!"
"Are you sure…?"
"Honest!"
"For real…?"
"I mean it!"
There Miko asked if Kyosuke has his eye on someone at his school, which he immediately deny, saying that he hasn't been seeing anyone at the moment and even said that right now he is not interested in girls, and Miko then slyly asked if he prefer boys, causing Kyosuke to stare wide-eyed and deny the accusations she made.
"Really…?"
"Really!"
"Are you really attracted to boys…"
"You got the wrong idea!"
"Are you sure…?"
"Honest!"
"For real…?"
"I mean it!"
Miko smirked and increases the pressure on the Hurt Lock and demanded to know if Kyosuke prefer a boy or a girl, which he tells her that he is really STRAIGHT.
"Really…?"
"Really!"
"Are you sure…? You're actually STRAIGHT and not BISEXUAL…?"
"I'M REALLY STRAIGHT! THAT'S THE TRUTH!"
"Are you sure…?"
"Honest!"
"For real…?"
"I mean it!"
Mrs. Yotsuya then came and told her two children to knock off the PHYSICAL CONFRONTATION, and said that dinner is about to be served and there she told Miko to take a bath and Kyosuke to clean his room before heading for the dining table, which the two siblings stopped their roughhousing and nodded to their mother in acknowledgement.
"Yes, mom."
"Yes, mom."
"Yes, mom."

Miko and Kyosuke are having a SIBLING CONVERSATION, which turned PHYSICAL, and made references to WWE by which Miko uses a submission move on her younger brother…
