This is a sequel to Weekend of Unfortunate Circumstances.
Kalego was in his office going over the lessons plans for next week when he felt a familiar shiver down his spine.
Knock, Knock.
"Come in Iruma." Kalego said, not looking up from his work as his most troublesome student entered his office.
The nervous blue-headed child entered. "Good evening, Professor Kalego. Um, how'd you know it was me?"
"I'm all too familiar with your presence." The terrifying professor turned to his student who fidgeted under his stern gaze. "Was there something you needed?"
Iruma looked nervous and utterly embarrassed before he took a deep breath and clapped his hands together. "I am so sorry Professor Kalego!" He exclaimed as he bowed his head in apology.
Kalego raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Oh, and what did you do this time?" He asked, knowing all too well that where ever Iruma goes, trouble follows him.
Iruma raised his head, scratching the back of his neck sheepishly, his face flushed in embarrassment. "Well, um..." He shakily pulled out his devi-phone and opened the picture folder then showed it to his teacher. "...this."
Kalego's face went from stern to furious at the picture Iruma showed him. It was Iruma in toddler form holding Kalego who was in familiar form as though he was a stuffed animal. The little toddler looked extremely happy with his familiar while the fluff ball appeared none-too-pleased to be held against his will.
The teacher's teeth gritted as he fought to control his fury at the humiliating memory of that weekend. "That damn hell-cat and Chairdemon!" He growled as he clenched his hands into fists.
Iruma quickly put away his phone. "I am so sorry I did that to you. If I'd known I would've apologized earlier."
Kalego took deep breaths to calm himself down. "How'd you find out?"
"I saw Grandpa arranging photos of me when I saw the one of little me and you. He explained what happened and sent me all the pictures of that weekend. He wanted to showcase it in the school paper." Iruma said, red in the cheeks over how ridiculous he must've been as a toddler.
"What?!" Kalego stood up, towering over the frightened student, if that weekend didn't kill him, this would ruin his image as a teacher.
Kalego's aura was dark, making Iruma sweat bullets as he quickly held his hands up. "Don't worry, I convinced him not to post those pictures! I swear!" He quickly said in an effort to placate the professor.
"Oh?"
Iruma nodded his head rapidly, "It's true. I cried and made him promise not to post those pictures of us." He let out a breath, "I knew it would be embarrassing for both of us and you didn't deserve that."
Kalego was relieved, but didn't show it as he watched Iruma with calculating eyes. "I see. So why come here when the issue was already resolved?"
Iruma frowned guiltily as he bowed his head. "Because I owed you an apology. I don't remember anything from when I was turned into a toddler. If I hurt you, or was too rough with you while I was in that form, I'm really sorry. I promise to make it up to you."
Kalego's eyes widened and softened ever so slightly at the sincere and humble apology from the strangest student he ever encountered. He wasn't obnoxious or brash like the other students of Babylus, he was just odd in a good sense that Kalego couldn't ignore. The boy was just too soft and could easily be trampled if not careful. Yet he's proven himself stronger than he appeared. Kalego could see how genuinely considerate he is of others, a trait he personally liked compared to Opera and Valac.
The professor sighed as he placed a hand on top of Iruma's head. "Don't apologize, that wasn't your fault. If anyone should feel responsible it should be the Chairdemon and Opera." Iruma's blue eyes looked up at him in surprise. "Besides, as far as your 'roughness' goes, none of that existed. The most you did was hug me against my will." He grumbled under his breath.
Iruma's head steamed up under his hand as the boy went red in embarrassment. "Sorry." He said in a small meek voice as his cow-lick withered with his mood.
Kalego removed his hand. "You're forgiven. You were only a small, well, a much smaller brat at the time. So, I won't fault you for that."
"Right, thanks." Iruma raised his head, though he was still red in the cheeks for doing that to his professor.
"Also, if you want to make it up to me, you might as well get ahead on your homework. Luckily for you, this is only due in two weeks on Monday." Kalego said as he gave him the homework assignments he was planning to give the Misfit Class. "These are a list of books you must checkout for the lessons we'll be covering next week. Best you get started and prepare yourself for next class."
Iruma scanned over the topics he'll be learning next week as well as the homework assignments he must work on ahead of time. He nodded as newfound determination lit up his features. "Alright Professor, I'll start right away." He said, wanting to impress and make it up to his teacher, even if the amount of homework fried his brain, he will not let the demon down.
"Good, you're dismissed. No slacking off." Kalego said sternly as Iruma bowed respectfully before he turned tail and ran out of the office. "Bye Professor, see you next week."
When the door closed behind him, Kalego slumped in his chair with a sigh. "That boy. Of all the troublesome student I get saddled with, it had to be that kid." He complained to himself, though if he was being honest with himself, he didn't mind Iruma as his student. Sure, the kid made the great Kalego his familiar, but that was an accident and the boy never intended any harm upon his teacher. He was just too pure for that. It also relieved him to know that Iruma was able to stop his ridiculous grandfather from spreading those humiliating photos of them.
His phone buzzed, breaking him out of his revere as he answered his phone and saw a text from Opera. There was a file attached which he opened to see a picture a little sleeping Iruma with his fluffy familiar attached to his head.
Opera: Here's a happy memory of your weekend with us. You two look so sweet together. Keep this photo, or I'll send it to every teacher in the school.
Kalego gritted his teeth at the audacity of his senior sending that to him. As much as he wanted to delete it, he knew his former upperclassman would just send more just to annoy him. With a resigned sigh, he saved it under Iruma's file, documenting all the mishaps the boy unwittingly involves himself in.
I hope I captured their characters nicely. I just couldn't resist writing this for much longer.
