When Jinx got an invitation for a party at the Kiramman mansion she honestly thought Vi and Caitlyn were joking. Sadly they were completely serious. Jinx didn't particularly want to go. Actually she didn't want to go at all. Why would anyone want to go to a Piltie party? The only time those were fun, at least in Jinx's opinion, was when she would crash them. She thought it would finally bring some life to those parties.
But sadly it wasn't often she could say no to Vi. And Caitlyn she grew to like a bit more. Even though she still thought she and Vi were disgustingly in love. Ugh, their displays of affection made her roll her eyes so many times she thought they might get stuck that way.
The only plus side to this party so far was the free food and drinks. The drinks were sweet and bubbly. She might steal a bottle of what ever they are later, not like the Kiramman's are gonna miss it.
"You know you don't have to stay on the balcony the whole time right?" Jinx was sipping on her bubbly drink when she heard Caitlyn's voice. Jinx glanced at the Sheriff, she was wearing a more ceremonial version of her usual uniform, lots of blue and gold, her rifle strapped to her back and her signature hot on her head.
"Top Hat. Lovely party." It was not. It was boring as fuck. There wasn't even a single explosion or people yelling. The best conversation she'd had in the last hour was with the voices in her head. And even they agreed that the party was a bust. Well Mylo thought so anyway, Claggor liked the food.
"Oh please don't spare my feelings. We didn't invite you here to be miserable."
"Then you shouldn't have invited me at all. Your party sucks dic-"
"Nope. Don't you say it."
"K." Jinx grinned when she saw Caitlyn let out an exasperated sigh.
Caitlyn glanced back into the crowd, quickly finding Vi who just smiled and gave her thumbs up. She clearly had no idea that this was going terribly, "At least try to have fun? For Vi. She'd love it if you made some friends. There are a lot of people here from all over Runterra. Surely you can find someone that piques your interest."
"Here? You gotta be fucking kidding me. Food doesn't count!" Jinx murmured to her right.
"Well you never know. I mean look at me and Vi." Caitlyn sighed dreamily as she thought about her girlfriend.
"Not a chance. The two of you are all... sappy." Jinx made a disgusted face.
Caitlyn rolled her eyes. At this point she knew Jinx accepted the relationship between herself and Vi. Even bought them a gift for their last anniversary.
"At least try to have some fun."
"Ugh! Fine." Jinx chugged the rest of her drink and walked back inside.
"No explosions!" Caitlyn yelled after her. Jinx just waived it off.
She looked around the room, searching for someone even remotely interesting. But everyone looked the same. Boring. Jinx knew she stood out like a sore thumb. With her bright blue hair, braided in a single braid this time around, her black pants which were slightly torn up in places. It gave them character in her opinion. Her white shirt and her overalls, with only one on her shoulder and the other one loose by her hip.
Who would even want to talk to her anyway? There are a lot of rumors about her. Most of them bad. Well she didn't want to talk to them either. So how was she supposed to find...
All of Jinx's thoughts left her as her eyes landed on a blonde woman on the other side of the room. She almost looked like she was glowing, although that could be a trick of the light. Or maybe Jinx really couldn't handle alcohol. In any case the woman was breathtaking.
With her blonde hair, her bright blue eyes, her beautiful gold and white dress. Jinx didn't realize she was staring until the woman's eyes landed on hers. And Jinx really did stop breathing then.
"Yeah, yeah I know. Shut up Mylo!" She could hear Mylo snicker next to her, "I'm going over there guys."
She picked up two drinks on her way, crossing the room at her inhuman speed.
"Are you an angel?" She asked as soon as she was in front of the blonde beauty.
The angel woman blinked rapidly, looking behind her then back at Jinx.
"How did you... you were just on the other side of the room." She looked confused, looking down at the woman with wide eyes, "How did you not spill the drinks."
"I'm good on my feet. And really good with my hands." Jinx winked, "I'm Jinx. It stands for Jinx. So you can call me Jinx. And what's your name Sunshine?"
"Uh... Luxanna Crownguard."
"Fancy."
A chuckle. What a wonderful sound, "People call me Lux. It's lovely to meet you. You... certainly stand out."
"Oh yeah. Tell me about it. A Zaunite will stand out anywhere. You should see my sister." Jinx pointed behind her. Lux followed to where she was pointing and spotted a pink haired woman with tattoos, with her arm slung around the Sheriff's shoulder and whispering something into her ear, "Where are you from though? You don't look like a Topsider."
"Demacia." Jinx tilted her head, much like a curious puppy.
"Is that a fancy word for Heaven?" She smiled, only to smile even wider when she saw the little blush on Lux's cheeks.
"Sadly no. My brother and I just came here as representatives. He should be around here somewhere."
Jinx looked like she was about to say something, then her face suddenly turned into an annoyed one. She glanced to her side, "Shut up Mylo. You're not helping. I don't need your bad advice." When her eyes looked back at Lux her brows were frowned in confusion, "Sorry, sorry. Voices. Sometimes they just don't shut up no matter how many times you tell them to." Jinx shrugged and chuckled.
"Oh. I... I see. Sometimes I hear voices trough magic." Lux smiled at Jinx who's eyes widened in surprise.
"You're magic? No wonder you're so pretty. Can you make things explode? Cause I can. We can make things explode together." Lux really couldn't tell if she was serious or if that was some kind of pick up line she didn't get.
Jinx could see that the angel was confused so she decided to have a little fun, something she never thought possible for this party.
She leaned her hand next to the girls head, she was taller than Jinx but somehow Jinx still made her back up, her pink eyes shining with mischief, "Or if you'd prefer I could make your world explode in another way."
The blush she got in return was priceless. She had to admit this was pretty fun. She could see why Vi liked it. The difference was that was was stupidly in love and Jinx was... Jinx was just messing around.
Lux yelped when Jinx moved even closer, "Uh... we just met? And this is a party."
Jinx laughed, "Relax Sparkle. It was a joke."
"Oh." Lux looked around awkwardly, "Right. Of course it was."
"Buuut..." Jinx bowed, a bit dramatically, as she offered her hand to Lux giggled, "I would really like to dance with you. I'm not very good though, so I'm sorry if I step on your feet."
Just out of the corner of her eye Lux could see Garen making his way trough the crowd with some nobleman in tow. Lux loved her brother but he could be so dense sometimes, "You know what? I'd love to."
Jinx's eyebrows shot up to her hairline, "For real? Um, I mean- Sure thing. Let's go Sunshine." Jinx took Lux's hand in hers and lead her to the dance floor.
There were many eyes on the pair, some because of Jinx, others because of Lux. She really did brighten up the room. Jinx could feel many eyes on them. Most of them she didn't know. Then there was her sister and Caitlyn. The Kiramman's. Jayce, Mel and Viktor. And for some reason there was a big buff guy staring daggers at her. She had no clue who the hell he was but at the moment she didn't care, she just wanted to dance with Lux.
Lux seemed to know him, judging by the smirk she shot his way, "My brother. Every now and then he tries to set me up with some nobleman. Maybe he'll finally get the hint."
"I could help with that." Jinx suddenly dipped Lux, her hands pulling their bodies as close as she could, "Got the hint yet?" Jinx's words tickled Lux's ear and the mage shivered, her hands grabbing fistfuls of Jinx's shirt.
Lux glanced to the side. Her brother's eyebrows were so high up it looked like they were trying to get away. He slowly nodded, suddenly looking very awkward with the nobleman next to him. He mouthed a little 'sorry' in Lux's direction.
"I think he gets it. But I'd like to keep dancing if that's ok?"
Jinx smiled at her, "What ever you want Luxi."
What the fuck was happening to her? She was just complaining about how boring everyone was, how yucky her sister and her girlified always were together, and yet her she was dancing and smiling at this beautiful, radiant woman in front of her like she was the only one in the room. And whenever Lux would smile back Jinx would feel her heart skip a beat. Maybe her eyes sparkled too? She couldn't tell.
She barely registered Lux dragging her back outside, barely heard Vi snickering and Caitlyn telling her she was being a child.
"Thank you for that. I think I needed it." They were still holding hands as they walked trough the garden. Neither seemed to mind, "You have interesting eyes by the way. I like how they sparkle and shimmer."
Jinx snorted. Lux raised an eyebrow.
"Shimmer." Jinx repeated. Lux didn't seem to get the joke, "Nevermind. Thank you. Not many people like my eyes."
"Really? That's odd. I would think many people complimented them."
"Yeah well you're one of the first." Jinx frowned for a moment before shaking her head and looking up at Lux with a smile, Thanks for dancing with me by the way, you really helped me break my boredom. This fucking party was killing me before I saw you."
"Then why are you here?" Now it was Lux who tilted her head.
"Because it's my sister's girlfriend's party. And Vi wants me to socialize more. I guess it was a good thing though. I met you, I'm socializing. You two don't count." Jinx looked back and chuckled.
Lux wanted to ask Jinx about the voices she was talking to. The blue haired woman had her so curious. But her brother's voice broke their little bubble, "Lux! Where are you? I need to talk to you. I'm sorry. Lux? Lux!"
"Siblings." Lux breathed out.
"Tell me about it." Jinx chuckled, "I'll see you around? Before you go back to... what ever your fancy word for Heaven was. I'm can show you my lab, and my blueprints, and I'll take you to Chuck for drinks and you'll get to meet..."
"Jinx. Slow down." Lux placed an hand on Jinx's shoulder. Jinx looked at it, then back at Lux, "I'm not sure how much free time I'll have. But I'll send for you if I'm available."
Jinx's eyes widened, "With magic?"
"Yes." Lux laughed at how excited Jinx was at that idea, "It was lovely meeting you. Thank you for the dance." Lux slowly leaned down and kissed Jinx on the cheek.
Jinx's eyes sparkled again, her heart beating rapidly. She watched with a dumb grin on her face as Lux walked away.
"Did you guys see that? No, I'm not in love, don't be gross Mylo. And no she's not my girlfriend Claggor, shut up. Do you think she can make things explode? Or maybe she can make portals, or turn things into different things. So many possibilities!" Jinx couldn't wait to see Lux again. She was so interesting to the Zaunite, Jinx just had to know more. About her, about her magic, her favorite drink, what makes her laugh or what makes her sad, she wanted to know it all.
But Jinx was totally not crushing on her. Nope. Not a chance.
