Hello there and welcome to my second of three fanfiction contributions for Sasharcy Week!

I could give a decent length intro beyond what you see above about what you're going to read, but I think the summary has done that succinctly enough and I loved how this one came into being, so I'll just leave it at that.

Anyway, enjoy!

It was just past midnight on a what was generally pretty standard quiet evening. But the forces of Mother Nature were just about to make some changes to that pronto.

Some rumbling of thunder could be heard as well as the beginnings of some rain, which in turn roused Sasha up. She wasn't exactly fully asleep at the moment anyway, so it wasn't like she was rustled out a peaceful slumber.

What did however pique her curiosity though was when she looked over to the other side of the bed to not see Marcy present. At first Sasha just assumed she might've been using the bathroom or perhaps grabbing a quick snack. But a couple of minutes pass on by without her return and curiosity did admittedly turned in a mild about of concern.

Sighing, Sasha pulled the covers off of her, got out of bed and headed out of the bedroom. She look around the hallway and her sights gazed to the bathroom. Though the lights were not on, she still opted to check to see if Marcy might've been inside.

"Marcy? You in there?" Sasha softly inquired after knocking on the door.

She got no answer, so she nevertheless chose to open the door. A quick look around showed that Marcy was not in fact inside.

Sasha closed the door and next headed downstairs. Not even a quarter of the way down did she notice the soft glow of a singular lamp in the living room and sure enough, she also saw Marcy sitting on the couch.

Ever so carefully making it down the rest of the stairs as to not startle her girlfriend, Sasha then took a similarly cautious approach when coming on over near Marcy.

"Hey." She said barely above a whisper.

Marcy gently turned her head, "Oh, uh...hey, Sash. What are you doing up?"

"Just wondering where you were," Sasha replied, taking a seat on the couch. "You doing okay?"

"Oh, I'm fine," Marcy answered as she tried showing a small smile. "Just...couldn't really sleep is all."

"Really? That's it?"

"Uh-huh, nothing more, nothing less."

"You sure that's all? I'll confess that I was getting just that little bit worried about you for a moment."

"Aww, well that's sweet of you, Sasha, but really there's nothing…"

But whatever Marcy was planning to say next got cut off when a large thunderclap boomed, causing her to let out a brief scream.

Not even giving it a second thought, Sasha quickly moved closer to Marcy and wrapped her up into an embrace. Despite some hesitance and even the slightest bit of resistance on her part, Marcy gave in and relaxed into her girlfriend's arms.

"You were woken up by the storm and it left you a little scared, didn't it?" Sasha questioned.

"What? N-no, that's not the r-reason…" Marcy said.

"Now c'mon, Marbles…"

"No really, it isn't the reason! I'm telling you, I-"

Another more sudden rumble of thunder interrupted Marcy and made her body tense up. Soon after that, the rain which already been steady enough transformed into a torrential downpour. In response to her girlfriend's fraying nerves, Sasha tightened her grip.

"Okay, let me try this again…" Marcy began saying. "Sasha, I swear to you it wasn't the storm that lead me here or making feel tense, although I will confess the intensity of this one is certainly not helping at the moment. And yes, I know there was once a time where thunderstorms made me uncomfortable, but that was when I was little and again it's not the primary cause. I don't know how to best explain it to you, I just sorta started feeling a sense of anxiousness and I guess I wanted to do some things to clear my head and…"

She took a pause to gather her thoughts and then continued on.

"And I know you're probably gonna ask why I didn't bring this up with you," she said, her voice beginning to get shaky. "I suppose I just d-didn't want t-to bother you at this late hour a-a-and…"

By now Marcy was starting to hyperventilate as she felt a surge of anxiety rise up. Between whatever was causing her to feel like this in the first place, the storm not helping with her nerves and the addition of causing worry within her girlfriend, she also trembled and tears were pooling in the corner of her eyes.

"Hey, hey, it's all right, Mar-Mar…" Sasha said soothingly, continuing to hold Marcy close. "Shh...take a couple deep breaths, okay?"

Marcy followed her girlfriend's advice by doing just that while also finally putting her own arms around Sasha's waist. Meanwhile, Sasha ran one hand up and down Marcy's back and used the other to stroke her hair.

"All right, first off, let me remind you that no matter what time of day it is or whatever it is that's making you upset, you can always come to me. You do understand that, right?"

Sasha gave it a moment to get a response from Marcy, but got nothing.

"Marcy, look at me."

Eventually she did look up.

"You do understand?" Sasha repeated.

Though not getting a verbal response, Sasha did at least take heart in seeing Marcy giving a nod of the head, earning the latter a kiss on the forehead from the former.

"Good. Now with that said, why are you feeling anxious? Is it because you were thinking about...you know, that stuff from the past again from Amphibia?" Sasha asked, trying her best to tread carefully on the subject matter.

"N-no...at least I don't think so nor am I trying to think about it recently…" Marcy replied. "I'm really sorry Sasha, but I just don't know what's coming over me or why…"

Letting out a very shaky sigh, she simply chose to bury her face into Sasha's shoulder.

As Sasha continued to keep Marcy securely in her arms, her mind tried in finding some other way to add further consoling to her distressed girlfriend beyond physical gestures.

But after giving it some thought, the very thunderstorm that rumbled on in the background and something Marcy said moments earlier gave Sasha an unexpected idea, plus she hoped it'll reinforce a point of her own.

"Heh, the more I think about it, this feels kind of familiar." Sasha said.

"Huh? What do you mean?" Marcy asked.

"Do remember the time when we had our first sleepover with Anne over at her place not too long after I first met you both?"

"Uh, yeah, I guess. Why are you bring this up, Sasha?"

"Oh, just that I'm reminded of a particular moment from then…"

Several years earlier

At the Boonchuy residence during the evening, Anne, Sasha and Marcy were asleep in Anne's room each within their own little sleeping bag.

As the night wore on though, some thunder rumbled and it gradually woke Sasha up. However shortly afterwards, she didn't think much of it and tried going back to sleep.

Even with more thundering arriving she still wasn't bothered. But it was upon hearing a completely different yet softer sound that stirred her awake. It sounded like whimpering and it did rouse Sasha's curiosity. She first looked over to her left where Anne was, but she appeared to be comfortably asleep despite the noise.

It right as another rumble of thunder came along while Sasha turned her head over to the other side of the room to realize it was Marcy who was making the whimpering sounds. Not only that, she also looked to be shivering from what Sasha can tell.

She got out of her sleeping bag and walked around over to Marcy's side.

"Mar-Mar?"

Marcy looked up. "S-S-Sashy?"

"Hey, are you okay?"

"No...f-feeling kinda s-scared…"

More thunder and now some rain only added to those feelings as Marcy was practically on the verge of tears.

For her part, Sasha hated to see her friend looking so terrified. She even felt tempted to look to the window and tell off the storm for committing such a misdeed as to fulfill her role as the protector of both Marcy as well as Anne. But for now, that wasn't going to be her plan.

Instead, she went to get her sleeping bag, pull it along to the side next to Marcy, slipped back into it and then finally she reached out to place her arms around her friend.

"It's okay, Mar-Mar," Sasha assured her softly. "I'm right here for you."

Admittedly, there was some bit of surprise from Marcy from all of this. In the time she's known Sasha thus far, she had been more accustomed to the blonde girl's tough personality who was more into protecting her and Anne from bullies and whoever else dared trying to harm them instead of experiencing a tender side. But it wasn't like she was going to turn down such a generous offer from Sasha to be by her side either and with that in mind, she smiled and snuggled up close.

"Thanks, Sashy." Marcy said.

Sasha smiled back at her as they both gradually went back to sleep.

"You know, I'm still to this day surprised that Anne slept through that storm. I mean…"

As she was speaking, Sasha noticed Marcy beginning to nod off.

"Hey, am I boring you to sleep or something, Mar-Mar?" She said with a chuckle.

"Huh, what…?" Marcy said drowsily, rubbing her eyes. "Oh, no, I'm just getting real tired again is all."

"Really? Guess my master storytelling skills made you more relaxed, huh?"

"Either that or because you're comfy to rest against."

Both of them shared a quick laugh.

"But I do gotta ask what was the point of reminding me of that moment anyway, Sasha?" Marcy inquired.

"Simple, aside from it being fun to remember and hoping it relieved you of some of your anxiety, I wanted it to hammer home the point that I will always be there when you need me." Sasha explained.

She cupped Marcy's cheek with her hand and then made their foreheads touch.

"Just like when I had no problem helping when you were scared of that storm back then, I'm always ready to help you in any way I can, even when it's late at night or if you have no idea what's troubling you."

And with that, she leaned in and kissed Marcy, something the latter was eager to do in return.

"Thank you, Sasha," Marcy said once they parted. "I feel like I should never have been worried in the first place. It's nice to be reminded of that."

"No problem. Now with that said, maybe we should head off back to bed."

"Yeah, I think so too, but I think I'm too tired to make it up on my own. Carry me?"

Sasha chuckled and playfully rolled her eyes. "Should've seen that one coming."

Nevertheless, she acquiesced, gently scooped her girlfriend up into her arms and started heading on out of the living room and up the stairs.

After arriving back in the bedroom, Sasha placed Marcy on her side of the bed before joining in herself. She rolled on her side which then allowed Marcy to put her arms around the former from behind plus giving her a kiss on the cheek.

"Love you, Sashy."

"Love you too, Mar-Mar."

As both of them eventually drifted back to sleep, the storm outdoors began to subside; leaving only distant thunder and a smaller steady rain shower acting as a relaxing backdrop.

And that does it for this one! Again, I really liked how this one turned out and all I'll say next is look forward to the third and final fanfic I have planned which will come on the last day of this week!

Okay, thanks for your time and until the next one, take care and see you around!
