Chapter one of my first 5d's fic
A young Akiza sits on a bench in one of the many parks of new domino city.
Sadness and rage swirl around in her mind fighting for Dominic. All she has is her Slifer red blazer, dual disk...and deck.
She pulls out her favorite card, the black rose dragon, and scans it hoping for an answer.
She notices a flickering light out of the corner of her eye. She sees blinking light from a radio tower over the satellite sector.
"I can't stay here in the new domino city. But, if I do, those people will!" She couldn't finish those, though.
Then it hit her that this was her best chance to start anew, and a place like the satellite sector is perfect.
Nobody would be crazy enough to look for her there. Then, finally, the anger and sadness left her.
Standing up, she now has a look of conviction. She glanced to her deck once more.
That is all she needed to go through with it and hopefully fresh start in life.
After several hours of walking, getting some supplies, and most importantly, a cloak, she stood in the shipping yard.
She had to find a boat straight to the satellite sector, which took an additional hour.
She wasn't alone; others were hitching a ride to the satellite. Finally, she found a corner to herself, not wanting more attention than necessary.
After a relatively short boat ride, she now stood on the shores of the satellite sector.
A look around reveals the hard reality that the satellite. She looks to her deck once more.
It hardened her resolve to allow her to push forward. Then, having no idea what to expect, she picked a random direction.
With Yusei
The man with black spiking hair and cobalt color eyes sat stretching after working on the plans for a replacement duel runner.
A few days ago, Jack rode off with his first one and stardust dragon card.
Everyone is rightfully mad that he stole not only the duel runner but Yusei's best card.
Weirdly to them, Yusei wasn't too upset about that matter, all that matters to him are his friends, and they're safe.
Especially Rally, he took it the hardest. He was mentally beating himself up for falling into Jack's trap.
He needed some fresh air and stretched his legs. Then, he carefully walked up the stairs of the abandoned subway they call home.
He made sure to grab his deck and duel disk, you never know who is out there, and a duel is the quickest way to diffuse a bad situation.
When reaching the top, he notices the never-ending light show that is a new domino city off in the distance.
He strolls toward the shore closest to the distant city.
He pays great attention to his surroundings as he walks, knowing what satellite is like at night.
Then he saw movement off in the distance putting him on edge. As he got closer and closer, the figure looked to be about his height.
Then he saw the figure is wearing a cloak, no doubt to keep whoever it is identity a secret.
That is not all. Yusei also saw a red dual disk on the person's wrist.
"So they're a dualist, good thing I brought mine with" he has his duel disk at the ready as he gets closer and closer.
Then the figure tripped, letting out a feminine squeal telling him it was a girl.
He ran over to her wanting to make sure she was alright.
"Excuse me, miss, are you ok? The ground here can be uneven?" He said, kneeling till he's eye level with her.
"I'M FINE!" She said, getting up only to fall down again, unable to put weight on her leg.
"You not alright, come on, I'll take you back to my place to rest for the night!" He said, holding his hand out.
She reluctantly takes it, finally locking eyes only to be silenced by his beautiful cobalt blue eyes.
He pulls her up, putting her arm over his shoulder, helping her slowly inch her way back to the rundown subway.
"Oh, I never got your name, mine's Yusei."
"Akiza." She said reluctantly.
"Well, it's good to meet you, Akiza," he said with a smile.
It took some time, but they made it back to the subway. Again, he helped her to the couch.
She used her cloak as a blanket going fast asleep. Yusei used several blankets, laying them down to cushion the hard ground.
Morning
Rally is the first to wake, struggling to rub the sleep from his eyes as he heads toward the couch.
He wanted to sit on something soft. He saw someone sleeping in it.
"Yusei, why do you have to take up the whole couch!" He pulls off the cloak to see a girl with scarlet red hair sleeping.
"Ah, Someone was wandering into our home last night!" He screams, running around in circles waking everyone up.
"Rally keeps it down. We're trying to sleep!" Nervin said
The other got up to see what Rally was freaking out about, then they saw a beautiful girl sleeping on the couch.
"Who is she?" Tank said.
"Don't know?" Rally said
Akiza eye fluttered open, seeing the two guys and kid staring at her.
She couldn't stop the blush from slowly forming from the embarrassment.
"What's going here?" A stern but gentle voice said. It's Yusei standing overhead with a firm expression.
"Hello, some girl snuck into our hideout last night. That what up!" Rally said once again.
"She didn't sneak in. I brought her here last night!"
"Never knew you were a ladies' man, Yusei," Nervin whispered to Yusei.
"She hurt her ankle, so I brought her here to rest up!" He said again, putting the three guys on edge.
It's rare when Yusei used that tone and only when they're being a bunch of idiots at the worst time.
"Ok, Akiza let's see if your ankle is feeling better," he held his hand out. She grabs it holding it firmly as she slowly stands up only to fall back down onto the couch. She had a pained look in her eyes.
"It still hurt after a long night of rest. This could be a problem" his eyes harden, telling them he is deep in thought.
Akiza is aw struck at the boy named Yusei standing overhead. But, unfortunately, it was dark out last night, so she couldn't get a good look at him.
But now, with proper lighting, pink dusted her cheeks at how handsome he was in her eyes.
"Looks like we don't have any choice. I'm gonna have to take you to Martha's to get your ankle looked at."
"Is she far?" She asked.
"Yes, unfortunately, she is on the far side of the satellite sector." He holds his hand out, only for her to take it.
"I'll be back later, guys."
"Wait, my duel disk?" The Rally comes through, giving her the red dual disk.
"Probably a good idea if I bring mine as well" Rally once again comes through, giving him spar dual disk version 2.
With the guys' help, he helped her up the stairs, and slowly but surely, they walked all the way to Martha's refuge.
The whole time walking, Akiza would ask questions about this place, and Yusei would answer to the best of his ability.
They had a few runs in with some thugs, but a quick duel from Yusei sent them packing.
Also, during that walk, Yusei learned of her powers via a tag duel they did.
"I had no idea something like this existed?" Yusei couldn't hide the amazement in his eyes.
"You think I'm a freak like all the others, don't you!" She said, looking away.
"No, I don't. It's actually kind of amazing!" She didn't respond with the word but action leaning on him to continue forward.
Unfortunately, the route to Martha's took them through one of the more dangerous parts of the satellite.
That is when they heard the cracking of the building overhead.
"Oh no!" All he could do was watch as the part of the building came down on top of them.
But it never hit them. He looked up to see it stopping in mid-air, only for it to be thrown into an empty alley.
"You're welcome!" She said,
"Hmm, guess you found a more practical use of your powers," he said with a grin.
Akiza just looked away, fighting off a blush from the praise he gave her.
"Come, Martha's not much farther."
After half an hour of walking, they found themselves in an old cottage surrounded by lush forest, reclaiming the decayed city ruins.
"Hey Martha, some guys here with a girl, they have dual disks too," a random kid said from inside.
Women with brown skin and what looks to be dreadlocks walk out of the cottage to see her adoptive son.
"Yusei, what are you doing here, and who is this you brought with you?"
"Martha, this is Akiza. She hurt her ankle yesterday. Unfortunately, it still bothering her. I had to walk her all the way here."
"Well, isn't that sweet of you. Come on, dear, let's take you inside and get your ankle checked out." With Yusei's help, they walked the girl inside to the Doctor.
Yusei found his spot in the other room, holding onto her dual disk.
Martha came out shortly afterward, sitting across from him with a smile aimed at him.
Her smile put the young genius on edge, knowing her for so long.
She let out a giggle putting him even more on edge.
"What do you have planned for Martha?"
"Oh nothing, just thought the two of you would make a great couple!"
Martha struggled to stop giggling as Yusei fell out of his chair, getting back up with a massive blush.
"Ah, to be young again, is there anything I need to be aware of about the girl?"
With his blush finally dying down, Yusei's look told her he was deep in thought.
Before he could answer, the door opened to reveal the Doctor and Akiza right next to him.
"So, how is her ankle?" Martha asked.
"A mildly sprained ankle. Nothing to worry about."
Akiza stepped forward, showing her foot in an ankle brace. "Thank doctor"
"No problem, Akiza, Yusei, any medical issues that need to be taken care of?" Just then, Yusei's stomach rang loud and clear, causing them all to start laughing only for Akiza to follow up.
"Well, lucky for you two, I can fix that with some lunch!" Martha added.
When Martha finished making lunch, she greeted all the kids at the table, waiting patiently for lunch.
Lunch turns out to be stew. Yusei and Akiza are the first to get a bowl. After a bite, Akiza lets her taste buds enjoy the flavor.
Once lunch was made, the kids headed back to continue what they stopped before lunch.
"With lunch out of the way, what do we do about you?" Martha said, looking at Akiza.
"It will be at most a month for her injury to heal, so she'll have to stay here in case the injury is worse." The Doctor informed.
"That won't be a problem, but what about afterward?" She asked once again.
The two teens traded glances, Yusei nodded to Akiza. She explained her situation before coming to the satellite.
"I see. Well, I suppose you can stay with me for the time being. But that doesn't mean you can slack off. When you ankle heels, you going to have to pull your own weight if you're going to stay with me!"
"No problems here!" Akiza said.
"Well, that's good, Yusei. I assume you have things to do?"
"Yes, I have to start building a replacement dual runner." He got up from his seat, waving them all goodbye.
As Akiza watched the man help her walk away, her heart panged as a slight frown took over her face.
Martha had a slight smile seeing the girl's expression. It was clear to her Akiza took a liking to Yusei.
"I've known Yusei when he was just a little boy learning how to walk. I'm sure he'll stop by to check up on you." Akiza's frown turned into a small smile before pink dusted her cheeks, looking away.
Three months later
Within the first month, her ankle is fully healed. Fortunately, or unfortunately, that meant she had help around the house if you can call it that.
It's strange. Akiza was reluctant to help at first, but she came to enjoy helping Marth watch after the kids in time.
Especially when a kid got sick or injured and when Martha was unavailable to help the Doctor.
Also, during this time, the other learned of her psychic powers. It was scary at first to the kids, but they came around.
Especially when she efficiently used them to help move heavy objects that needed moving. This gave her plenty of practice fine toon her control.
Now she is sitting down relaxing after a hard day's work. But, of course, her mind is elsewhere. She is wondering how Yusei is doing.
It's been three months since they first met. Martha mentioned Yusei might stop by to check on her but hasn't yet.
"Something on your mind Akiza?" Martha said from the door frame.
"I'm just wondering How Yusei is doing." She said with pink, dusting her cheeks. Marth stifled a giggle.
"We'll all the chores are done and taken care of. After that, I suppose you can go visit Yusei if you want."
"Are you sure a lot can happen around here, and I don't want to leave cleaning up the inevitable mess while I'm gone?"
"Positive. What are you standing around to get going!"
"Hmm, thanks, Martha. I'll be back in a few days!" She goes to the other room to get her deck and duel disk.
As she walked through the decaying ruins of a once vibrant city, Akiza had her guard up.
She may have Psychic power but prefers to keep them hidden as long as possible.
After over an hour of walking, she stands at the usual subway entrance.
She hears his familiar deep but gentle voice down below then.
She carefully walked down to see the three boys when she first met Yusei.
She walks down to four guys surrounding Yusei, Tank, Nervin, and Rally. And new tall skinny guy wearing a blue bandanna.
Hearing noise Rally looks to the source. "Hey, it's the girl from a few months back!" They all look to Akiza.
"Been a while, Akiza, so how is life with Martha and the others?" Yusei said, walking up to the young woman.
She no longer wore that red blazer and skirt, but now tennis shoes, jeans, and a red sweater.
"It was hard at first, but I got used to it, came to check on you guys."
"Yo, who is the girl Yusei talking to?" Blitz asked
"Akiza," Rally supplied.
"She sure is pretty, " blitz said
"You can say that again, but it looks like Yusei beat us!"
"What do you mean by that?" Rally asked
"Will tell you when you're older" this time, it's Nervin to speak.
"That's awesome!" Yusei said, getting their attention.
"Yeah, you were right about my power having a practical purpose!"
"If that's the case, mind helping move some stuff?"
"Oh alright, what is it you need to move? I need the practice"
"Follow me" she followed him deeper into their hideout. She's greeted with several large boxes.
"A bunch of parts we've been gathering kept putting them here now there too heavy to move in our own."
"Hey Yusei, you can't expect-" blitz said but never finished seeing all the boxes float in mid-air only for them bet set down side by side against the wall.
"Thank Akiza" Yusei opened up a box taking out in Akiza's mind is garbage.
Yusei wasted no time organizing items, mainly old circuitry, nuts, bolts, etc.
"What do you plan on doing with all this stuff?"
"Making a replacement duel runner," Akiza nodded her head hearing his story about Jack as he helped walk her to Martha's place when she first got here.
She noticed the guys staring at her. This put her on edge, taking a step closer to Yusei.
She lightly poked him, getting his attention before pointing to the four guys.
"They're staring at me, and it's creeping me out."
"Guys!" That broke the four out of their stupor.
"How in the world did those boxes suddenly float then move on their own!" Tank shouts.
The other three were throwing in their two cents, wanting to know the reason.
"I thought you would have told them?" She looks at Yusei.
"I'm not one to talk behind someone's back."
"I have psychic powers. In dual, I can inflict real damage. Or usually move things that are too heavy to move." This time a small rock levitated into the air, moving it to the far side of the room.
"Cool" is all Rally can say, speaking for his friends who are still silent.
"Ok, back to work," this broke. The four immediately went to work sorting all the junk they found for anything useful.
By the time the sun had to sit, all the parts were organized into piles from most helpful to least.
"Woah, it's already dark, Akiza. Don't you have to get back to Martha's?"
"I said I'd be gone for a few days. If it's alright, can I stay here? That is," she said, looking away.
"It's fine. I'll make some space for you," he went to work immediately.
She even helped him move some stuff, only for him to say she could stay on the couch.
She ended up staying with them for three days before heading back to Martha's.
Akiza would visit them, specifically Yusei, once a month as time moved on.
Eventually, months turned into years for Akiza being in satellite.
During that time, she earned a reputation in satellite as their one and only psychic duelist.
And the second-best duelist in Satellite with Yusei taking first place.
With her best card, black rose dragon, she got the nickname black rose based on her best card.
Now she is sitting in the hideout waiting for Yusei to get back to testing a new acceleration chip.
The guy is in the back watching another Jack atlas turbo duel.
Then she heard footsteps in the black abyss of ruined subway tunnels.
Moments later, she sees the guy she was smitten with walking his duel runner back.
"I assume the chip didn't work out?"
"Unfortunately, yes."
Just then, Rally came down the stairs holding a new acceleration chip.
Yusei put the new one in only for light to shine through the roof cracks. Forcing them to split up for the night.
The following day someone came by, wanting Yusei duel runners only to lose, humbling them.
Akiza's heart panged hearing the day Yusei will leave is only a few days away.
Rally let out a yawn signaling the other it's bedtime. The other follows suit while Yusei stays up, making everything perfect with the duel runner.
A couple of hours later, Yusei is still debugging the duel runner software, then he hears footsteps behind him. He looked to see Akiza standing in front of him.
"Something on your mind Akiza?"
"How do I put this with you leaving tomorrow" she couldn't find the words to continue. Just before he could speak, Akiza cut him off.
"I want to go with you to new domino city if it's alright."
"I don't see why not, but what brought this on all of a sudden?" He had a good idea but wanted her to finish.
She started to grind her foot on the ground, struggling to find the words.
He gets up, standing in front of her as he gazes down at her beautiful features.
He would admit it, but he's developed feelings for the girl over the past two years. He really didn't want to leave her behind but realized he might not have that option before now.
"You know why I came here to satellite? My time here has opened my eyes to what's important."
"You want to see your parents again, don't you?"
"Yes" is all she can say.
"I think I have a spare helmet around here. But what about Martha and the kids?"
"I already told her about my parents a while back, and she urged me to follow through with it. And now you have a shot at getting out of satellite, and who knows, maybe my dad can help you settle in?"
"Hmm, sure, you can come with me, but first, it's time to get some sleep." He said with a yawn. She followed his lead only for the sleep-deprived Yusei to sit on the couch, not realizing he had taken Akiza's spot.
She giggled at this before sitting down beside him with a blanket on. But, unfortunately, she was so sleepy she didn't realize she fell over and ended up using his shoulder as a pillow.
The four boys were in for a surprise when morning finally arrived. But, thankfully, they decided to let sleeping dogs lie, not wanting to get on Akiza's bad side again.
The last day seems to fly by in the blink of an eye. Yusei has his runner idling before handing Akiza her helmet.
"Hold on, don't tell me Akiza is going with you!" Tank practically shouts.
"Yep, she wants to see her parent again."
"Been a blast these past few years, guys!"
"Bye!"
"One more thing, give Martha my thanks and tell her I'm finally going to meet my parents!"
"That a promise" this time, it's blitz as the two rode off.
Rally gave Yusei his father's card for good luck before they headed off.
"Dang, I'm sure gonna miss Akiza being around!"
"You're not alone, but it is clear she has had her eye on Yusei since we first met her!" Nervin said.
Minus an unfortunately run-in with officer trudge they two made through the maintenance hatch in the nick of time.
When they finally made it to the side, they were greeted by non other than Yusei's old friend Jack atlas.
"Been a while, Yusei. I see you brought your girlfriend!"
"She, not my girlfriend, I hope not much longer," he yelled.
"He's not my boyfriend yet!" She yelled.
"Whatever, not like it matters in the short term anyway. Now, if you'll follow me."
The two traded glances, "fine, but I have to make a quick pit stop first!"
"Whatever!"
Following her directions closely, Yusei dropped her off at her parent's house.
"I'd like to stay-" he couldn't finish.
"It's ok, you have important business anyway," she said, glaring at Jack.
"I'll call you when everything blows over on my end."
"Bye, Yusei and thanks."
"No thanks necessary" is all he said before following Jack.
She walks up to the front door with her deck in hand, taking a deep inhale, then exhales.
She nocks a few times, hoping they hear her. Then, finally, she did it a few more times before hearing movement inside the house.
The door opens, revealing a middle-aged woman with slightly darker hair then Akiza.
The women is shell-shocked seeing Akiza standing before her.
"Hi, mom, it's been a while."
"Darling, who is it," her husband said, walking up behind his wife only to be shocked himself seeing his daughter standing before him.
