Chapter One: A Little Chase and Discovering
Jeremy was paling as well as squirming from the man holding him as his sister was fixing herself and her new boyfriend was watching her while also fixing his own clothes.
"Mind telling us why you came barging in?" His sister was fuming; as this was the only time she was truly alone with the object of her affections and who she was now currently her boyfriend and wanted to show him that she missed him.
"Umm…I tried hiding…" Jeremy paled. "He keeps finding me." The man was nuzzling Jeremy's cheek.
"Go through the story please from the beginning," his sister's tone of voice held no arguments. "Now please."
Her boyfriend pulled her into his arms, sitting her in between his legs and was placing kisses on her collarbone.
"Calm down my Lovely," her boyfriend murmured. "Just calm down." She sighed and nodded.
"Well…" Jeremy began.
Jeremy had been cleaning up some of the high school's classes as they found some silly string canisters and other pranking things. He wasn't the only one who had to clean up-it was his entire year group.
He was stuck cleaning up the pool area thanks to Alaric who volunteered him and he was mentally thinking about how he was going to add this bright blue hair dye to Caroline's shampoo and conditioner.
He knew that this was her prank as Elena had told him-none of them took her prank seriously so he was going to implement it.
Now however, he couldn't believe that he was cleaning up the blonde's mess. He knew that she wasn't that good with pranks so she had to have help with this.
The sound of walking made him stop and turned to look at Stefan Salvatore who was watching him with a predatory glint in his eye.
Jeremy felt a shiver of terror from it.
"Hello little one," he said with a slight purr. "We are going to have fun."
Jeremy ran, dropping everything. He just ran and when his teachers asked why, he just pointed to Stefan who was running after him.
"I'm going to hide from him and talk with Elena," he said with a partial lie.
Elena looked at her partner in confusion.
"Has that ever happened?" She asked him and as he cocked his head, he nodded.
"I've seen it once and it was because of the person finding their mate," her partner explained. "Like us sweetheart." She smiled.
"Elijah please stop sweet talking her and explain what is going on," Jeremy snapped only to gasp and squirm as the man holding him was tickling his sides. "PLEASE!"
Elijah Mikaelson looked like he didn't want to help the boy but decided to. He would rather have Elena out on a date over helping with this problem.
Elena watched him as he grabbed Stefan's chin in between his index finger and thumb. A part of her was thrilled with him dating her now.
She could vividly remember the events of them deciding to date…
Elena had just walked into her room after school when she noticed that Elijah was sitting on her windowsill. Her heart was beating erratically as he seemed to be at ease where he was.
"Elijah?" She asked and he turned his head to look at her. "Is everything alright?" She seemed worried. He smiled and as he got off the windowsill he went over to her, a glint in his eyes.
She opened her mouth only for his mouth to go over hers. Her eyes shut as she felt only pleasure coursing through her. Every fantasy that Elena had of him kissing her was literally blown out of the water, as this was much better. Elena ended up finding herself on Elijah's lap as he was sitting on the bed, kissing him as her fingers going through his hair and his hands were grasping her waist. Pulling away, she bared her neck for him and he moved to suckle at her pulse point.
"'Lijah…please…please…" she was whimpering and he sunk his fangs into her pulse point. She moaned in pleasure as her head was thrown back. "God I've missed you." She couldn't imagine being without him and she had been for an entire summer. She hated it especially as Damon was stuck on stalker mode towards her.
She had to beg Jenna to stay in the master bedroom while she went into what was Jenna's room. The tree that overlooked her bedroom before was sweet now turned terrifying.
He stood up with her in his arms, him wrapping her legs around his waist and he pinned her to the wall. He pulled back and watched as her eyes were glazed over.
"I missed you precious," he growled in her collarbone. "So much." She moved to look him in the eye, dislodging his mouth from her collarbone. She saw the lust and the desire swirling as well as confusion.
"If I tell you that I want us to be dating what would you say or do?" She asked but didn't move from her spot.
"I would ask you out to dinner and begin dating you," he whispered. "I just want you."
She smiled and as they kissed again, her bedroom door was thrown open. They looked at Jeremy whose heart was beating rapidly.
"Stefan's after me and I'm freaking out," he panicked. "Just hide me! Please!"
She touched her lips with a smile as she saw the way Elijah's eyes were moving, focusing on Stefan's own eyesight. The moment he let go of Stefan's face, he nodded.
"Niklaus had him let go of whatever was holding him back from getting what he wants," Elijah announced. "It wasn't nefarious like I thought it was."
This was a surprise as his brother was a bit nefarious and could compel people for nefarious reasons. It seemed as though his brother was turning his life around.
Or it could be a woman who he had lost some time ago and she was one of his friends.
"So…Stefan's desire and want was Jeremy?" Elena asked as she sat on the bed, crossing her ankles. "I'm not really surprised." Jeremy gave her a look and she smiled. "Before he left he couldn't stop staring at you but never acted on it. I kept telling him that if he liked you to tell you. He never did…until Klaus got to him."
Jeremy glowered at her as she smiled at him before she stood up. Going over to them, she placed a hand on Jeremy's cheek to see what Stefan would do and he did nothing.
"He knows that Elena means no harm to him," Elijah whispered to Jeremy. "Mention the name of anyone other than myself and Elena to see how he would react to them."
"Damon is a stalker," Jeremy quipped and Stefan's arms tightened around Jeremy as his face was filled with fury. "Bonnie's become a good friend again," the tightening of his arms became loose. "Caroline's OCD is problematic."
"Stefan would you mind telling us what happened?" Elena asked him.
Stefan began his story.
The first day of what would be summer vacation made Stefan let out a low breath. He hadn't wanted to be someone's lapdog but here he was, a lapdog. He had missed his friends but most of all…he missed Jeremy.
Klaus looked at him in complete confusion.
"With all the free flowing blood…what has you so down?" He asked and Stefan shook his head.
"I'm missing my friends," he lied and Klaus knew it was. "Look. Not many people are going to be accepting of me," not mentioning that he went both ways and that the town of Mystic Falls was filled with small minded people but Klaus knew, "and I doubt that who I'm interested in wants me." Which was a bitter pill to swallow for him.
Klaus smirked and as he eyed the younger vampire, compelled him.
"Let go of what's holding you back from what you really want," the words were simple yet the meaning wasn't lost on them.
Klaus wanted his friend happy and seeing him miserable was kind of disheartening. It made him miss his mate but they had to separate for different reasons.
He didn't want that to happen to Stefan.
The moment that Stefan finished his story and Elijah explained what he had seen in Stefan's memory (which was basically his story that he would add to) Elena was smiling at them.
"Stefan take care of my brother," Stefan nodded as he began to tickle Jeremy. "Don't make me go after you."
"I won't," Stefan promised her. "I promise you."
Klaus wasn't sure why but as he went into Elijah's room he caught him with the new doppelganger, his fingers through her hair and her legs around his waist. His fangs were buried in her neck while she ran her nails down his back, nearly ripping his shirt.
Her nails made lines down his back, causing bloody trails to heal but the shirt had the blood marks from her nails.
"Brother…" the two stopped and turned to look at him. "May I have a word with your new girlfriend?"
Elena grabbed Elijah's forearm as he placed her on the ground and she nodded. He grabbed her arm and started to drag her out of the room for a blood donation only to stop as she dug her heels into the ground. He stopped and turned to glance at her fierce expression.
"Let's go and you can compel me to be honest," she said with a smirk. "However…" she slapped him across the face. "Don't drag me you stupid asshat." She tried to break his arm but the bones in her hand cracked, causing her to hiss in pain.
"Feisty," Klaus murmured as he looked at Elijah who was gulping. "Brother she's a keeper." Just her fierceness reminded him of Angel and he knew that she would get along with the young woman. "Now…will you come with me so I can compel you to be honest?"
"Yes," she murmured but her stare was unsettling him. "So let's go." As soon as they were downstairs, Elijah led Elena to the armchair and Klaus was in front of her. As his eyes were boring into hers, she could feel the fog filling her mind.
"What is your name?" He asked.
"Elena Isabella Flemming according to Isobel," her voice was monotonous. "However according to John it's Elena Miranda Gilbert."
"What name do you prefer?" Here she smiled.
"Elena Isabella Flemming," her answer made Elijah smile. He knew that the mother and daughter were slowly repairing their relationship and for Elena to accept the name made his heart swell. "It fits me better."
"How do you feel about Elijah?" Her smile widened.
"I trust him," now both brothers blinked. "I trust him and I feel safe with him. I don't know why but after we got to know each other I grew to trust him and feel safe though when he was neutralized by you," Klaus gulped, "I began to miss him and I realized I had fallen for him."
Upon entering the Mystic Falls Grill he saw a brunette boy with brown eyes playing pool with Stefan, both looking happy and for some reason Klaus had an eerie feeling that the boy was familiar.
Going over to them, he smiled and held a hand out to the boy who looked at him in curiosity.
"I'm Klaus Mikaelson," he said cordially. "You are?" He saw the boy pale slightly and gulp while Stefan looked ready to kill him.
"Jeremy Gilbert and Elena's my sister," he whispered and Klaus smirked before hiding his shock. "It's good to meet you."
"You as well," Klaus muttered as he took a step back. "I'll be around little warlock."
The moment that Klaus left, Jeremy felt a bit nervous but he did hide it well only for Stefan to start tickling his sides, causing the boy to giggle, which made a female start giggling.
Stefan turned to see Caroline there as she had a milkshake for Jeremy.
"Seeing you two together is making me explode in a kaleidoscope of cooing over you both," she said as she handed Jeremy the milkshake. "Come on Stef, let your boyfriend watch as you flounder." She smiled. "I'm the best."
Elijah had Elena out on a date in the Mikaelson's expansive backyard. There was a table covered in a white tablecloth. On the table there were a couple of small glass candleholders as well as two wine glasses filled with pomegranate wine and two plates that had halibut as well as steamed broccoli.
"Would you mind telling me things about you?" He asked as he took a bite of the halibut.
She smiled and nodded.
"Well I did karate and gymnastics when I was a kid," she said before taking a sip of wine. "However I prefer ice skating and dancing nowadays." A smile on her face made him smile. "What about you?"
"I've gotten into gardening," he said as he motioned with a hand to show her the vast yard. "I've also been meddling in medicine, law and history." He grinned. "However I'm an excellent cook."
As Klaus was leaving the Mystic Falls Grill he bumped into a very familiar woman who wasn't Katerina Petrova-having staked her during the ritual with malicious glee.
The woman had a lithe frame with her dark hair fell to her lower back in waves. He smiled and as he touched her waist, she turned to look at him with fierce eyes that reminded him of how fierce the newest doppelganger is.
She had, after all, slapped him and then tried to break his arm for dragging her away from his brother Elijah when he went to question her.
"Hello Angel," Angel Jensen smiled and as she pressed her lips to his cheek her hand went to his throat. "Long time no see."
"Entirely too long for us to not see each other," she snapped. "So just what brings you to this miserable little town?" He grinned.
"Twofold," he said as he grabbed her wrist. "First was my ritual if you had forgotten," she snorted, "second is…our son." She gave him a hard glance. "He's here in town."
"Where because I want him back," she said harshly. "So if I have to deal with you then I will." Her glance softened. "I want our son back."
"We'll get him back," he promised. "He's the adopted brother of the new doppelganger…who is currently dating Elijah." He had to flex his hand to hear the cracks. "She's just as fierce as you."
"She'll keep him on his toes," Angel said with a grin. "If you claim she's as fierce as me then she can definitely tame one of Esther's sons."
"How did you want to get our son back?" He asked her and she had a shark like grin.
"We explain what happened to take him away from us," she said simply. "Have you forgotten about it as I never did." The memory was still burned into her.
Klaus had his own eyes closed as he remembered himself.
A flash from a vervain grenade, bullets made out of wood hitting him and Angel as they were trying to protect their son and the sounds of breaking necks were what caused him to become colder and hateful.
Elijah knew that he had gone through something troubling but didn't know what it was. The hours of mindless searching he had done to help his brother did make Klaus be eternally grateful for his brother.
It was why he was mostly questioning Elena Gilbert's intentions with Elijah through compulsion (her idea while Elijah was there) to be honest and she was. She wanted to be with Elijah as he made her feel safe-well, to use her exact words, "so much more safer than I would be with my own friends".
"What's his name?" Angel asked as she got him out of his vivid memories. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair.
"Jeremy Gilbert," he whispered and her hand holding onto his throat squeezed it enough to break the bones in his arms. "I don't know if it was a Gilbert who had done it. The only information I got from their files after they died was that Miranda Sommers-Gilbert almost had a miscarriage the day Jeremy was born." He shook his head. "It did say that she did have a stillborn but it was redacted."
"Our son was taken…because of a woman who wanted a child?" She knew that women who wanted children would do whatever it took to get what they want but she felt as though this was a little too much.
"I don't think she knew what had transpired," he added. "When what happened to us she was pushing out a child…and I think I might know who has the answers."
"Who?" She wondered.
"Isobel Flemming," he answered evenly. "Elena Gilbert's mother as she mentioned she never signed papers that would take her daughter out of her care. She had been given something to calm her frenzy when she collapsed and when she woke her daughter was with Miranda and Grayson. She barely knew Grayson and had never met Miranda." Angel's eyes widened.
"Whoever had known about her and her child gave her to them without them knowing the truth." He nodded.
"John Gilbert-Elena's father," her eyes widened. "Angel…I want you back." She gave him a soft smile.
"And I you," she whispered and as she let go of his throat she kissed his cheek. "Come find me soon." She disappeared in a flash.
He smiled.
"Hide and seek my witch," he hummed as he walked. "Hide and I'll seek."
