Peter sighed as he waited for the elevator doors to open.
Flash had been bugging him all day and just had not stopped. As well as that Ned had been off sick and his broken rib had not fully healed from his encounter with this robber yesterday evening. This meant that every time he breathed his chest ached though it had been more painful earlier.
Piggy (the robber) seriously seemed to hate the nickname that he had been given but Peter had found him, that night, smashing open a piggy bank that was on the counter of the shop.
He expected Mr Stark to be in the living room when the elevator doors opened ready to give him a massive lecture about safety and coming to him when he was injured. That was why he was surprised and a little relieved to not hear his voice when he walked over to the kitchen to grab some left over pizza from the fridge.
Once he had grabbed the pizza he quickly checked the room for Mr Stark before digging into the food, relieved that Mr Stark was not there.
Once he had finished the pizza, Peter left his plate on the side knowing that he would want some more food later and walked slowly towards the sitting room.
He was deep in thought and starting to get worried. It was not like Mr Stark not to be in the penthouse when he got back from school. Especially on a lab day and after he had gotten injured the night before while on Patrol.
Instead of paying attention to his surroundings Perter jumped onto what he knew was the sofa.
Peter had managed to land so that he was lying across the sofa. Or he would have been if it weren't for the three people already sitting on that sofa.
As soon as he felt their legs beneath him Peter jumped 5ft up into the air in surprise and turned around ready to attack whoever was there.
Who he saw made his mouth open in shock.
"Your… your… Captain America! And your the… the Black Widow! And your Hawkeye!"
The three superhero's were more shocked than Peter was though hid it better than him.
If Natasha hadn't realised his age before he jumped onto her then he would have been dead. As it was Clint's warning look was the only thing stopping her from knocking the boy unconscious.
"That we are kid. Mind telling us your name and how you got up here?"
"Oh I'm Peter.. Peter Parker Mr Captain America, Steve sir."
Peter then stuck out his hand for Steve to shake which Steve did tentatively.
"That still doesn't explain how you got up here."
The more Peter talked the more Natasha had this overwhelming feeling to protect him. The boy was so happy and polite.
"Oh Mr Hawkeye, Clint sir, I am Mr Stark's intern."
At that Clint raised an eyebrow for he knew that Tony despised kids. To his surprise Natasha said nothing and stopped giving Peter her murderous glare.
"Okay kid. I'm sorry but I really think you should leave before we have to make Tony make you leave."
Before anyone else could say a word the elevator door opened and out stepped Tony Stark and Bruce Banner.
Upon seeing Bruce, Peter froze and only his face displayed his overwhelming happiness and shock.
"Good you have all met Peter."
At that Clint and Steve turned to look at Tony with surprised expressions on their faces while Natasha continued to watch Peter with a slight smile of amusement on her face.
"So he is your intern?"
"Of course he is!"
With that Tony went over to Peter and draped one of his arms around his shoulder. This seemed to pull Peter out of his shocked state.
"Mr Bruce Banner Sir, I have read all of your papers and especially loved the ones on gamma radiation. I was wondering if maybe if you have any spare time and are not to busy… of course you don't have too… you can say no and that's cool too…"
"Peter just spit it out."
Tony secretly found Peter's stutters adorable but would never confess that.
"Could you sign my copy of your papers for me please… if you wouldn't mind… sir?"
Bruce's expression went to one of shock to one of excitement and happiness in about 5 seconds as he walked over to Peter.
"Of course I can and feel free to work with me in the labs any time you want."
"Really?!"
Both Bruce and Tony let out a chuckle at that.
"Of course! Tony here has been telling me that your intelligence rivals his."
Peter looked up proudly at Tony then with a massive grin on his face. Tony just ruffled his hair and grumbled something about it going to the kids head before looking down at said kid and saying,
"We are still going to be talking about last night and your rib so don't think you are off the hook."
Peter groaned at that.
"So Peter here is your intern?"
Tony let go of Peter then and pulled out a mug for coffee before turning on the coffee machine.
"Yes and no. More of my lab partner but he also does other stuff. Helps out here and there with…"
It was at that moment that he decided to let go of the cup. It went crashing to the floor which caused everyone to jump up in surprise. Only one person ended up jumping and sticking to the ceiling though.
"Mr Stark!"
Instead of jumping down from the ceiling Peter crawled over to his mentor.
"Kid you are a rubbish secret keeper. They were going to find out eventually. Besides with them knowing you will have a hider time hiding when you are injured."
Peter groaned and shook his head but knew that Tony was right about him being a rubbish secret keeper.
"Your Spider-Man!"
That was the start of what felt like a never ending evening of questions and yelling.
