SOTP: Hey all! The sister is back with a brand new promare story! I know, I'm really behind but I got hit with this idea after reading a lot of Promare fanfiction as of late. Along with a manga called fire in his finger tips. This story fit the promare characters so well that I just had to write a one shot! Hope you all enjoy!
Lio Fotia, a collage student from the city of promethlis was getting bored as he sat with his friends Gueira and Meis at the local pizza place. They were there with the rest of the squad from the fire fighter team burning rescue for a small get together. Everyone was busy chatting about their recent mission and really getting into the conversation. Lio however was too busy sipping his drink while his magenta colored eyes watched his childhood friend Galo, the newest burning rescue member, chatting away with the others. Galo had recently joined the team while still attending the same collage as Lio.
He and the blue spikey haired fire fighter had known each other since they were kids and have always been good friends even though they tended to argue sometimes.
This was the first time in over a month they had the chance to hang out since they were so busy. Lio couldn't help but feel slightly ignored as Galo's attention seemed to be everywhere else. He would never admit it, but Lio had gained a crush for Galo over the years they've known each other. Yet the more Galo hung out with his new friends from burning rescue, the more Lio felt like Galo was pulling away from him. Plus Galo was always so friendly with everyone, it was hard to tell whether his was flirting or just being nice. Lio's thoughts were suddenly interrupted when Galo suddenly wrapped an arm around his shoulder, making Lio blush like mad.
"Hey Lio! You're glass is empty! Let me get you another! Excuse me! Need another diet cola over here!"
"I can order my own." Lio whispered under his breath.
After a moment of talking with Lio's friends, Galo turned to Lio with an excited smile.
"Man Lio, your friends are really cool! And you're all in a band together!"
As part of his major in collage which was music, Lio, Gueira and Meis formed the band, mad burnish. With Lio writing most of the songs. He turned to Galo with a sarcastic tone in his voice.
"You could try dating one of them, but their already too obsessed with each other." Making Lio smirk as his two friends turned to him with dumbfounded looks on their faces.
"Haha! Nah, I wouldn't dare break them apart. Besides, I've got my eyes on someone else." Galo said softly, making Lio's eyes widen in return.
"Who?"
"That's a secret!" Galo answered with a wink and a smirk.
Making Lio sigh under his breath as he continued to sip on his refreshed soda.
"Idiot."
It was past midnight when Lio awoke to the sound of a loud serine and a bright light shining out his apartment window. He crawled out of bed, noticing the heat that had seeped into the room. Lio pulled back the window's curtains to find the outside of his apartment was on fire. In panic, Lio quickly ran to the door to try and escape but the door handle was to hot, burning his hand at the slightest touch. He then grabbed a duster and started to bang the handle against a metal shelf. Hoping a fire fighter would hear the noise to come save him. Then a thought struck Lio that made him stop and drop to the floor in shock and fear.
There was no way anyone could hear him from inside the apartment. Lio sat there, scared. Trying desperately to figure a way out. He knew he couldn't jump from the balcony and he didn't have a rope or anything to climb down with. He then thought of Galo, and thought of how crazy it would be if he came to save him at the last minute. The smoke soon started to seep into the room through the crack in the door. Lio continued to sit on the floor, shaking in fear while covering his mouth as he coughed. Trying to rack his brain for a way to escape. Just when Lio was about to give up, he heard a familiar voice call out to him through the door.
"LIO! Are you ok?!"
A second later the door busted open and there was Galo. Standing there in his uniform pants and boots while bare chested. Lio's eyes grew wide in shock and relief. The very thing he didn't think would happen did. Galo had come for him. The blue haired fire fighter quickly picked up Lio and carried him bridal style through the apartment.
"Everything's gonna be fine, Lio. Let's go!"
Lio barely registered what Galo had said. He was still in shock at how the blue haired fire fighter appeared out of nowhere to save him. A rush of mixed feeling surged through Lio as Galo carried him out to safety. Fear, relief, a small spark of happiness and a bit embarrassment that made Lio's cheeks blush. And not just from the heat of the fire. As soon as they were outside and away from danger, Galo checked Lio over with a fine toothed comb for injuries.
"Are you sure your ok?" Galo asked for what Lio thought was the hundredth time.
"I told you, I'm fine idiot!"
"Oh, I'm the idiot?! You were perfectly fine in there! Why did you stop making noise?! That means there's signs of life inside!"
Lio stood there completely shocked as he spoke.
"You heard me?"
"Of course I did! It was search and rescue! I always pay attention for any noise of someone looking for help! And when I heard the noise in your apartment stop I thought..."
Lio was surprised to say the least when Galo stopped talking and suddenly wrapped Lio in his arms. Holding the smaller man close as he did his best to hide his tears in Lio's short mint green hair. Lio could even feel Galo shaking through out his whole body. Hearing the desperation in Galo's voice as he spoke.
"I thought I was too late...that I couldn't save you in time...If you had died Lio….I..."
Lio felt guilt stricken as Galo failed to finish his sentence. The band student slowly wrapped his arms around the fire fighter as he laid his head in his chest. Taking in the smell of Galo's scent mixed with the smoke that surrounded him. Whispering softly while his eyes were lost in a daze.
"I'm sorry...I didn't mean to worry you."
With that, Galo breathed a huge sigh of relief, patting Lio on the back before pulling away to look at him with a caring smile.
"Thankfully, the worst of the fire was on the first floor. You should be able to get your wallet and phone tomorrow. Since you need a place to crash for a while, you can come stay with me!"
"Are you really sure?" Lio asked in surprise.
"Of course! I can't let you just sleep in the street in your PJ's! Come on."
Lio then looked down at himself in his tank top and shorts. Realizing Galo was right, he followed the blue haired fire fighter to his apartment with a secret smile on his face. The two walked into apartment after a short walk and Lio was surprised to see that except for the left open pizza box on the kitchen table, the place was actually pretty tidy for once. Normally the place was a regular bachelor pad with soda cans and pizza boxes everywhere.
"Ugh, sorry for having you over while I'm getting the place cleaned. The guest room is still a little messy but the living room is clean. You can go ahead and take the couch if you want." Galo explained as he walked inside.
Lio was about to thank him when he suddenly gasped as Galo turned his back to him. Lio could see the deep, dark bruises that were forming on Galo's back. Said fire fighter turned to see Lio's expression and smiled when he realized what he was staring at.
"Don't worry about these, Lio. Their just scratches. "
"You didn't get those from tonight did you?" Lio asked as he sat down.
"Before I got to your place, I was rescuing a little girl when a china cabinet started to fall over. I turned around so it would fall on back and not hurt her."
"Do you have a compress to put on it?" Lio asked out of concern.
Galo went and grabbed a cold compress out of the freezer. He was about to try putting it on when Lio took it from him and had the fire fighter sit down. Galo did a he was told and sat on floor, allowing Lio to gently apply the compress to his back. Letting out a gentle hum while the cooling sensation ran through his back.
"That feels nice, thank you." Galo said softly.
"I should be the one thanking you. You saved me."
Lio's words made Galo grab the band leaders wrist. Stopping Lio as he tried to walk away and gazed down into Galo's eyes which had softened. His face more serious yet slightly sad than normal. Galo looked up into Lio's surprised face, taking in all of his beautiful features as the fire fighter spoke.
"Of course I saved you Lio, you're precious to me. And I can't begin to tell you how glad I am that you're safe. I thought I almost lost you."
"What do you mean?" Lio asked as he sat down on the floor in front of Galo, all the while still holding his hand.
Galo was quiet for a moment, gathering his words before he spoke.
"When I thought I was too late before, for a spilt second I felt my heart stop. I was almost sure I was gonna walk into that room and find you injured or worse. I, I've never been as scared as I was in that moment. Even though you're safe now, I still feel that fear. That fear of losing you before I-"
"Before what?"
Lio asked bewildered. He couldn't believe how deep Galo was being right now. Lio figured Galo would laugh it off, saying it didn't matter since he made it in time but he was being genuinely honest and concerned for him right now. Lio was then suddenly pulled into a tight embrace by Galo, a small gasp escaped his mouth when he also felt soft lips upon his forehead. Bestowing a gentle kiss before whispering softly.
"Before I told you I love you."
Those simple words struck Lio like lighting bolts from a thunderstorm. He slowly pulled away from Galo to gaze into his eyes, finding nothing but honesty and love shining within them. Lio barely registered what happened next for Galo had pulled him into passionate kiss. The fire fighters fingers tangled up in Lio short mint green hair as he held him close. His tongue slowly running over Lio's tender lips quietly asking for permission. Closing his eyes in contentment, Lio opened his mouth, allowing Galo inside to deepen the kiss. It felt so much a like a dream to Lio. A dream that ended too quickly when Galo broke the kiss after a moment.
He looked at Lio who seemed to be lost in a daze. His eyes glossed over, panting slightly while his finger slightly ran across his lips. The sensation still tingling upon them. Lio then looked up to see Galo with a blush on his face. Feeling awkward and unsure if he overstepped a boundary. Galo turned his face away in embarrassment, afraid of Lio's rejection when he felt small tender hands cup his face. Making him turn to see Lio look at him with a smile on his face. A calm tone in his voice as he spoke.
"I had that same fear. Earlier in the fire I gave up. I didn't think anyone would have heard me calling for help. I thought it was over, I thought I would never be able to tell you my feelings. How much I care for you, how much I've loved you for all this time. I thought all those feelings were going to die with me tonight. I was so scared that I had lost my chance to tell you."
"Wait, you're saying to felt the same about me? All this time?!" Galo blurted out in surprise.
"Probably since when we were kids. I honestly didn't think I'd have the chance to see you again. And then I had a crazy thought, I thought you would come and save me at the last minute. And when you did, I couldn't contain how happy I was. You came for me, even though I had given up... you didn't."
Galo listened intently as Lio finished, almost on the verge of crying. The fire fighter once again took Lio into his arms. A warm smile spread across his face, kissing away Lio's tears.
"I'd never give up on you Lio. Not when I've been in love with you for long."
The moment those words left Galo's mouth, Lio leaned in for another kiss. Slightly surprising the firefighter before he gave into the kiss. As the two broke away, Lio leaned into Galo's chest, reesting his head near his shoulder. Whispering softly.
"Galo..."
"Yeah, Lio?"
"I'm tired, but I don't want to be away from you. Not after confessing my feeling for you like this. Can I..."
Galo smiled knowing full well what Lio was going to ask. He then stood up, picked up Lio bridle style and carried him to his bedroom.
"Galo?"
"Of course you can share the bed with me!"
Lio smiled, glad that Galo had returned his feelings as the two slept holding each other that night.
