AN: Enjoy!
"Are you really sure you can handle this, Vizh? Maybe I should just cancel this Girl's trip.."
"Nonsense" Vision said to his wife as he tried to usher her out the door. "I am not letting you cancel a night you have been looking forward to just because our sons forgot to tell us that our family was chosen to provide gingerbread for the school's Christmas bake sale Tomorrow."
"Nat would be disappointed.." Wanda mused. "I'm supposed to be getting introduced to her sister.."
"Then you must go."
"But.."
"Don't you trust me, my love?" Vision pouted a little. Over time, he had begun developing more human mannerisms, to the point that no one would know he wasn't human, if not for his appearance.
"You know I do" Wanda kissed her husband's pout. "With my life, our children's lives, everything.. Except the Kitchen. Let's face it, Vizh. The fact that you don't eat makes you more than a little challenged as a cook."
"Usually, yes" Vision agreed. "But baking is different. I just have to follow the recipe you left me, and make sure I get all the ingredient measurements right.."
"In theory, yes. But.." Wanda was cut off when a car horn honked. Carol and Monica had come to pick her up for the aforementioned Girl's Trip, lunch in the city, followed by an overnight stay in a rather nice Hotel, for which Tony Stark was kindly paying, in return for Pepper joining the festivities.
Nat was happy to invite Pepper anyway, but Tony had insisted.
"Go" Vision pushed Wanda out the door. "Have fun, I will handle things here."
"Alright" Wanda relented. "Just make sure you follow the recipe exactly."
"Of course."
"I'll see you tomorrow afternoon.." She kissed her Husband's cheek.
"I shall eagerly await your return" Vision grinned.
Once his Wife had left, he gathered ingredients and set about his task, hoping he could have the gingerbread done and put somewhere safely away from his sons' (particularly Tommy's) greedy fingers before he had to pick them up from school.
Vision's baking went well, or so he thought. Maybe they smelled a little odd, but they looked exactly the same as the gingerbread men he'd seen Wanda bake in previous years. Pleased with his efforts, Vision waited for the gingerbread to cool, iced it, set one aside for Wanda to try when she came home, and put the rest in a container.
When Vision took Tommy and Billy to school the next morning, he dropped off the container of gingerbread to the PTA Moms as they were getting ready for the Bake Sale, which was set to begin shortly after the school day ended.
Vision didn't think any more of the gingerbread's odd smell until Wanda returned home, he proudly presented her with the one he'd set aside, she bit into it, chewed for a few seconds.. And cringed.
"What is it?" Vision frowned. "What's wrong?"
Wanda forced down her current mouthful, not wanting to hurt her beloved's feelings too badly, then set the rest of the 'ginger' bread down.
"You followed the recipe I left you?" Wanda questioned. "Exactly? To the letter?"
"Of course!" Vision rushed to the pantry, looking through his ingredients. "Flour, brown sugar, ground gin.." He trailed off. "Oh. Oh dear.."
"What did you do?" Wanda sighed, but chuckled.
"Well" Vision chuckled himself, a rather nervous one, "I may have added, uh.. Garlic powder to the gingerbread instead of ground ginger."
Wanda's chuckle quickly evolved into full blown laughter. Sometimes, you really just had to laugh at these things.
"Oh Vizh.. This could only happen to you."
"I'm sorry.."
"Don't be. It's okay.." She pulled him in for a kiss, then checked her watch. "But we'd better go.."
"Go?" Vision was confused. "Where?"
"The School" Wanda tugged him towards the door. "We have about ninety minutes to get those garlic-bread men back before some poor person buys one.."
A short while later, Billy Maximoff saw a tupperware container of what looked like gingerbread men float by his classroom window, surrounded in a familiar scarlet energy. Knowing of his father's lacklustre cooking abilities, he didn't say a word.
Crisis, very much averted.
