Sesshomaru had never been one for public displays of affection. Rin was used to that. She had expected him however to be present especially after they had spent so many years physically apart.

Finally released from her curse with her close friends and daughters she reintegrated herself, along with Kagome and Inuyasha, back into the village.

It was an odd thing to see women she had known her own age now appearing older, babies she had assisted in delivering were adults, and of course there were her own children.

Both were fiercely independent and powerful in their own rights. Each had independent lives from one another.

While she had no doubt they loved her, given that she was their mother, they had no connection to her, no bond.

She had promised both of them as they grew in her womb that she would always be there for them and how she looked forward to being a mother to her beloved lords daughters.

Everything she had dreamed of was coming true back then in its way along with more than she could have ever hoped for.

In an instant it was gone.

Sitting by the small pond she thought on of how Lady Kaede had been so happy to see her once again before she passed on, happy that her adopted daughter had come back to her safely as she remembered her.

Rin was expected to still be the Rin everyone who had known her remembered her as. She didn't feel like her old self any longer inside or out.

Taking out her hand mirror she had tucked into her kimono she looked again at the marks the scales had left behind.

After the curse was lifted they had died and fallen off leaving dry, red spots in their place. Some had been worse than others and needed to heal, especially on her face and hands.

While she had never thought of herself as a great beauty she resented the markings that may scar and become a reminder the rest of her days as to what had happened, as if she would ever forget.

Placing the mirror down on her lap she clutched her head at all of the thoughts that wouldn't seem to stop. Feeling her tears begin to fall she sobbed.

Wiping her face she looked up to see Sesshomaru standing across the water from her.

"Lord Sesshomaru", She managed out, "Why have you been so distant my lord? Why haven't I seen you since I came out of the tree of ages? Where have you been?"

Silently he watched her as she questioned him making no move otherwise to answer or go to her side.

"Rin is sorry my lord for all of this, are you angry with me husband?" Glancing away from him she swallowed hard. "Are you disgusted by my appearance?"

"No." He answered back.

"Then why?" Rin stood clenching her hands at her sides into fists. "Why won't you come and talk with me? Why will you not visit me in the night the way you did once we were married and mated?"

Receiving no answer she hung her head. Thinking back to when he would visit her in the realm she had been held in she recalled at times his sadness, despair, and desperation.

It was only when he hadn't realized she had been conscious and watching him as soon as she fully alerted him he would put his mask back into place only to gaze at her for a moment before leaving.

Bringing her eyes back to rest on him she took a steadying breath. "I am not unapproachable any longer my lord. Please," Extending her hand out to him she offered a small smile, "Come to me my love."

"I should never have touched you." He replied the words sounding heavy and raw. Rin held her breath but still held her ground.

Reluctantly Sesshomaru made little effort in leaping over the pond to stand beside her.

Locking her eyes onto his as she tilted her head up she took his hand in hers and squeezed.

"We did nothing wrong. What happened was done out of jealousy and prejudice."

Sesshomaru stared into her depths drawing in her scent.

"I never thought I would be able to touch your living flesh again."

"Nor I yours." Feeling tears form in her eyes she closed her lids. Cupping his hand to her cheek and stroking his thumb across the red marks she sighed relief.

"We are together again with our daughters, our family, and friends. I don't want to give those people another thought. They will not run our lives any more."

"Agreed." He breathed out tilting her head upwards. Slowly opening her eyes she offered him a wane smile. "My Rin, I couldn't protect you."

"You protected the children, not just ours, but Inuyasha and Kagomes as well." Rin said. "Lord Sesshomaru, you are amazing. You protected all of us."

"You're not angry with me Rin?"

"Why do you think that?"

"For not…ending all of it at the start of it?"

"I have never been angry with you. Not once. I worried over our daughters, what would happen to them but I never held any ill will towards you."

Reaching up with her other hand she beckoned him towards her. Both sitting down together Rin rested her forehead to his with her hand resting against his cheek.

"If you no longer want me Lord Sesshomaru in an intimate way that is alright. Just allow me to stay by your side and Rin will be very happy my lord."

In response she received a kiss to her lips. Soft and slow she closed her eyes feeling her heart speed up and her stomach flutter. She felt his arm wrap around her waist and pull her closer to him.

Rin wound her arm around his neck as they both deepened their kiss reacquainting themselves with one another once again. Separating Sesshomaru stared into her eyes.

"Will you still have me Rin?"

"For forever. That's what I have always wanted, in whatever way you will have me."

"In every way." Sesshomaru said softly. Smiling genuinely at him she felt as if things would be alright, as long as they were together.

A/N: I am concerned where the direction of Yashahime is going. Rin is running out of time and this is what came to mind as a best case scenario afterwards. Hope you all enjoyed my fluffy piece.
