Go with the Flow

Jinx whistled as she checked herself out in the mirror. A light blue vest, long sleeved shirt, with dark blue pants and her favorite boots. Not too shabby for a first date. Vi offered to help her pick out an outfit but Jinx felt like that was just an excuse to tease her.

"Hm... bow-tie or no bow-tie?"

"Bow-tie. No. Yes. Too fancy."

Jinx got mixed answers, all at once, "You're not helping guys. I think I'll go without, don't want to come off as too try hard-y."

She rolled the sleeve on her tattooed arm, reaching for her trusty gun.

"Do you really need that?" Asked a voice behind her.

Jinx jumped on the sink and spun around, pointing her gun at the door, right at Vi. The brawler raised her hands in mock surrender, "Knock please. And yes. I always need my gun." Jinx hugged it close to her chest.

Vi sighed, "To your first date Pow? I'm pretty sure Lux isn't bringing any weapons. Plus who's gonna attack you?"

"I don't know! If I did I'd already tell them to fuck of for tonight. Plus Lux doesn't need a weapon. She has her..." Jinx waived a hand in the air, "Magic hands." Jinx grinned widely.

"Please never say that again." Vi groaned. When did her sister learn that phrase? "Never mind. Look I know you're nervous, it's your first date. But Lux likes you, and I've seen you scribbling 'J+L' in your notebook. You're gonna do great, don't worry."

Jinx frowned, she sat down on the sink, her gun at her side, "I've been on dates before. Sort of. But Lux is special, I want to make sure she has a good time. And I don't want anyone to mess it up. Or me to mess up and... scare her away." Jinx wrapped her arms around her shoulders.

"Jinx, you'll do great. I know you will. You wanna know how I know?" Vi smiled as Jinx looked at her with curious eyes, "Because there's no one else like you, no one who has your sense of humor, your energy, your mind. Plus, you're my sister. Being a ladykiller kind of runs in the family." Vi's smile turned into a love struck grin.

"Ew. Gross. I don't need to know anything about your and Caitlyn's sick puppy love. I'm leaving before you tell me any more." Jinx jumped, taking her gun with her and putting in on the gun holster on her hip. She paused at the door, "Hey sis. Thanks." Despite her teasing she smiled at Vi, who smiled back just as much. She knew Vi wanted her to have a good time, and she'll try her best to do so too.

She got to the Last Drop just in the nick of time. Lux was very easy to spot, with her white, blue and gold attire in the midst of Zaun's array of bright neon colors. The blonde spotted

"Lux! I'm here. Did you wait long?" Jinx slowed her walk down to a casual one, well as casual as she could manage. Her heart was beating a million miles a minute after all.

"It's ok. I just got here. The instructions the Sheriff gave me were very detailed so I made it here just fine." Lux smiled brightly and Jinx swore that the Sun just died from jealousy. But that was ok, Lux was more than enough for her, "Um... you look good." Lux blushed.

Jinx grinned, "Yeah? You don't look too bad yourself Sunlight. I love the dress." Jinx let her eyes roam across Lux's outfit, the way her dress reached up just above her knees, the way it hugged her curves, how it would be to take it off... Oh! Right, not that kind of date! Her eyes looked back up at Lux who had a shy smile on her face.

"Thank you." She muttered nervously.

Jinx offered her hand to the mage, "Shall we go?" She asked in an exaggerated Piltovian accent.

Lux laughed, a wonderful sound to Jinx's ears, "We shall." She replied, her hand slipping into Jinx's, much to both of their joy and slight embarrassment. Their cheeks grew hot and pink. Lux gulped as Jinx lead her into the bar, but not before Jinx glanced back at the street. She saw several individuals eyeing Lux specifically. But the moment the tinkerer narrowed her pink eyes at them they all went back about their business.

The Last Drop was unlike any other bar Lux has been too. It was slightly dim, but the lighting provided a warmer ambiance than the too bright neon from the outside. The place was quite packed but no one did anything except for stare at them.

"Chuck!" Jinx yelled at the barman. He looked at her and let out a heavy sigh.

"Still not my name."

"Riiight. And my name isn't Jinx." Jinx winked at him, "This is Lux, she's here for the first time ever."

"Hello." Lux smiled warmly, which seemed to ease Chuck's nerves a little.

"Hey. Nice to meet ya lady. Name's Thieram." He offered his hand for a handshake, which Lux accepted.

"He always says that. His name is actually Chuck. Everyone says so." Jinx smiled brightly.

Chuck whispered "It's not."

Jinx ignored him, "Can you get me my usual? In my cup with the straw. And get Sunshine anything she wants, on me." Jinx gestured to a table at the corner, decorated with what Lux recognized as her drawings. She always drew them when she sent Lux letters. They were so colorful, and so fun to read.

"Uhm... something slightly sweet? And not too strong please." Chuck nodded his head and turned to prepare their drinks.

As he did so Jinx lead Lux by the hand, between the tables and the crowd in the bar. People did their best not to stare too much, some even greeting Jinx as she passed by. Some greeted her as Jinx, others as Powder. By now Lux was familiar with Jinx changing her name and she seemed to prefer Jinx much more, which is what Lux called her. After all it's what she introduced herself as.

"Here we are. You can take a seat anywhere you want."

The two decided to sit opposite of each other.

"This place seems nice. Do you come here often? You seem to know the bartender pretty well. And some of the people here."

"Oh. I grew up here. Literally. My dad's were owners. Well not at the same time. Vander owned it first. And then..." Jinx's smile fell from her face.

"You killed him." Echoed the voices around her.

"He... died. Then Silco owned it." Jinx took a deep breath, her hands starting to shake.

"And you killed him too." The voices said again, getting louder and louder.

"Shut up. It was an accident. He died by accident." Jinx grit her teeth, her eyes flashing brighter.

"Hey, hey. It's ok. You... you don't have to tell me now. I'm sorry I brought back bad memories for you." Tentatively Lux placed her hand on top of Jinx's, the Zaunites other hand quickly, way too quickly, closing over the mages. Lux startled, but didn't pull back.

Jinx shook her head, biting her lower lip, her eyes going back to normal, well as normal as pink eyes can be, "No. I... You didn't know. And I can't get into it yet. Maybe... maybe some other day. Is that... ok?" Jinx's voice was unusually small, lacking her usual energy.

Lux offered her a reassuring smile, "Of course. You don't have to tell me anything you're not ready for. I know a few things about keeping things to yourself. You can open up to me whenever you feel like you're ready."

Damn. When did Jinx die and how did this angel find her? And how did her smile made her heart ache and soothe the crushing pain at the same time?

"Thank you." Jinx smiled back. She took a deep breath, her eyes closing for a moment. She exhaled, her eyes opening and meeting Lux's own, "You have really soft hands."

Before Lux could stammer out an answer Chuck placed their drinks in front of them, "Here you go ladies. Your usual Jinx. And a Strawberry Sunrise for the lovely lady." Chuck smiled in Lux's direction.

"Chuck, Chuck, Chuck." Jinx's voice got slightly lower as she tilted her head in Chuck's direction, "She's here with me." Jinx then gestured at her and Lux's hands.

"Oh. Oh! I- I am so sorry. I didn't- Please don't ruin my shirt again." Chuck took a few scared steps back.

Jinx smirked teasingly, "No worries. I wouldn't do that to a friend."

"We're friends?" Chuck's eyes shot up and he wasn't sure if he was supposed to be relieved or more scared.

"Pfff. Of course we are." Jinx waived her hand.

"Um... ok then." Chuck quickly left before Jinx could surprise him more.

Lux chuckled, which made Jinx raise an eyebrow at her, "What?"

"Were you jealous?" Lux teased, a smile on her lips. Jinx's heart skipped a beat, her cheeks flushing in embarrassment. Fuck she wanted to kiss her so bad.

"N-No. Of course I wasn't. I just... felt like I should let him know that we were on a date." Jinx raised her cup and took a long sip trough the straw.

Lux laughed again. That laugh will be the death of Jinx. At least this would be a pleasant one.

"Sure. If you say so." Lux's thumb ran over Jinx's hand. Her heart fluttered again. Lux leaned to take her drink and took a little sip. Her eyes lit up, "This is good! Remind me to give my compliments to Chuck when we leave."

"He makes great drinks, I admit." Jinx smiled, "I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure if Zaun drinks would be to your taste."

"It's great. I think... I think I'm finding more and more things to like about Zaun." Lux's eyes stared into Jinx.

"I'm sure I can give even more. If you'd like." Jinx's voice took on a deep, seductive tone.

A deep, red blush started creeping on Lux's face, "I... I might take you up on that. A-After a few dates of course."

Jinx rolled her eyes, her smile never leaving her lips, "Of course. Top Hat Sheriff said something similar to my sister. But I don't think they made it to even one date before they jumped into bed with each other. But Vi did tell me that she loved every date they've been on. I'm enjoying this one so far. So what I'm trying to say is... yes I'd love to go on more dates with you Sunlight." Jinx's hand found Lux's other one, now both of their hands in each others, smiling at Lux like she really was her only source of light.

"I'd like that too. But let's get trough this one first and... we'll see where it gets us."

Jinx couldn't help but smile like a love struck idiot, the same smile she made fun of when she saw Vi smiling at Caitlyn. Gods she really was falling for the mage. She was falling hard and she was falling fast. But she never wanted to stop. Not when it felt so wonderful.
