Prologue

Currently inside of a small apartment in Gotham city is an eighteen-year-old young man named Zander Shu as Zander is six feet tall with dark brown skin, brown eyes with black hair done in ear length dreadlocks, he has a average build and is currently in just his black boxers as he is waking up in his bed as his bizarre ability has forced him awake.
Now after some research at school and coming to terms with thinking he isn't crazy. Zander figured that he was one of the Meta-Humans that have popped up all around the world.
"I didn't think superpowers would be this inconvenient." Zander said as he got out of bed before entering the bathroom and cleaning himself up before getting dressed in a simple blue T-shirt with blue jeans and sneakers as he put his brown backpack on his back as he had school today at Gargoyle High School.
The less popular and influential version of Gotham High School but Zander couldn't care less as he went into the kitchen and grabbed himself some cinnamon bread as he ate it before going out towards the school as he preferred walking instead of taking the bus and dealing with the people he went to school with as Zander wasn't well liked for some reason and was a target for the bullies.

"Of course, I'm going to say yes." Zander said as he could just hear his mother's voice scolding him for being late as he put more hustle in his step as he began jogging towards the school.

"Well, I still have some time so why not." Zander said with a shrug as he selected yes and saw a variety of perks to choose from as nothing seemed too magical or powerful or anything like in actual videogame, but certain perks did seem to enhance some aspect of himself.

"Alright that isn't too bad." Zander said as the screen disappeared from view as he headed into the high school as he wanted to reach his homeroom class.
"Alright class let's begin with mathematics today." The math teacher said as Zander had taken out his notebook and began to take down notes as he started studying the material the class was going over.

"Awesome" Zander said to himself as he looked at his newly enhanced stat as he continued on with his class before the class soon came to an end as he began walking the halls to go to his next class before he was stopped in the hallway.
"Zander. It's good to see that you're not late today." A slightly superior sounding voice said as Zander turned around and saw the student council president.
Cindy Moore, Lvl: 13
Two-Bit Magician/Student Council President
Cindy is also eighteen and in her last year of high school as she has fair skin with blonde hair done in a chin length ponytail, blue eyes with a slim figure and noticeable curves, and she is wearing a basic white button up shirt with a red and black checkerboard skirt with knee socks and sneakers.
"Hey Cid." Zander said back with slight confusion as he looked at her title.
"Don't call me that. I stopped using that nickname after elementary school. Anyway, I need to talk with you about something important." Cindy said in a serious tone of voice as Zander shrugged.
"Well, what's up?" Zander asked.
"There have been reports of a stranger coming around the school eyeballing students and the security has been alerted but the reports are still coming in, so I want you to be careful and avoid this guy and if you see him than call school security or the police. Okay." Cindy said as that did strike Zander as strange.
"Alright. I'll be careful." Zander said as Cindy than left as the rest of the school day was uneventful for Zander.

"Pardon me but are you, Zander Shu?" A stranger asked Zander as Zander walked away from the school campus as Zander turned around and saw the man wearing a light blue business suit and pants with black dress shoes as he has shorty spiky black hair with back sunglasses over his eyes and his title was the most telling.
Riku Shu, Lvl: 19
Shadu hwk(Arabic: Shadow Hawk)/Lesser Assassin
This man looked Asian but shared Zander's last name as he was also confused by the Arabic title he owns as well as the fact that he is a lesser assassin.
"Who's asking?" Zander asked as he got ready to run before a green sedan pulled up to them on the sidewalk and driving it was Zander's mother.
Kelly Shu, Lvl: 2
Nurse/Loving Mother
Zander took his looks after his mother as they look similar except for the obvious female figure she had as she has brown shoulder length curly hair with brown eyes, and she is wearing pink medical scrubs and trousers with basic sneakers as she walked out of the sedan.
"Damn it Riku I told you to wait." Kelly said as she walked up to her son. "Zander this is going to be a long explanation, but this man is Riku Shu and he's your biological father." Kelly said bluntly as Zander had a million questions before he and Riku both got in the sedan and headed home.

"Where have you been all this time?" Zander asked bluntly as the three of them were seated in the living room of the apartment.
"I was on a quest of self-discovery after your mother broke up with me but soon enough, I learned about your existence, and I wanted to see you." Riku said as Zander narrowed his eyes.
"So, you think you can just walk into our lives as if nothing happened? Like you where actually here with us?" Zander asked with anger in his voice.
"No, I just wanted to try and get to know my son." Riku said as Kelly remained quiet and didn't say anything as she looked on at the son and father as they argued as she didn't even know what to say.
"I may be your son but that doesn't make you a father to me. A father actually raises their child but instead you where away doing whatever you wanted while my mom had to struggle alone." Zander said as Riku sighed.
"That's fair I suppose. And I know it is selfish of me to just drop by like this, but I don't have much time left on this earth, so I wanted to get to know you before its too late." Riku said as Zander wasn't budging.
"Zander I know how hard this is, but Riku isn't the man you think he is." Kelly said as Zander just sucked his teeth in agitation.
"How can you sit there and defend him?" Zander asked in rage before the door to the apartment was broken down as men in ninja themed clothes stormed in as Riku fought a few of them but the numbers overwhelmed him and soon enough Zander, Riku and Kelly where all tied up with rope and seated on the floor of the apartment.

Objective: Survive this random encounter for a total of ten minutes!

"Why are you people doing this?" Zander asked ignoring the quest as he didn't even need it to know that his life was obviously in danger.
"Shadu hwk your crimes against the league of assassins has marked you for death." The leader of the group said as he drew his curved long sword and aimed it at Riku's neck.
"I have committed no crime. I am still committed to completing my mission." Riku said.
"Lies." The leader of the group said.
"It is true. I am here gathering information and nothing more." Riku said as the leader of the assassin group looked over Kelly and Zander as Zander struggled against his bindings.
"Your former life still blinds you brother. So, allow us to rid these bonds from your soul." The leader said as he walked over to Zander and aimed to pierce his heart with the sword before the window glass suddenly shattered as a smoke bomb hit the ground and caused massive smoke to blanket the entire apartment making everyone hack and cough as nobody could see through the fog as another set of footsteps was now heard along with fighting.
Zander didn't know how long the smoke lasted but when it cleared he saw a shadow of a man sized bat leave through the apartment window as all the assassins where unconscious on the ground and the police sirens soon came towards the apartment.

The police questioned them for a long time and Riku ended up leaving in the night as it was early morning now as Zander woke up in his bed and saw a new message appear in front of him.

"Might as well." Zander said as he brought up his perk screen and looked at his available perks without really focusing on the perks after the events of yesterday as they had to buy and pay people to install a new door and the fact that the damn league of assassins was an actual thing, and they are targeting his father and possibly his mother and himself.

"Okay those skills are practical so now let's move on to the skill book." Zander said as he took out the skill book he earned from his quest as it had been safely stored in his inventory until now.
{Tome of the Magi
This magical tome contains the information and power to allow you to become a mage as you will effectively change your race from a simple human to becoming a Homo-Magi due to your Atlantean heritage as this book will awaken the dormant power within you.
Now this book offers three mystical branches of magic for you to choose from and by choosing one it will change this tome to a tome based solely around that branch of magic.
[Magical Categories]
[Conjuration]-[Restoration]-[Manifestation]
-Conjuration: This branch of magic governs necromantic rituals and incantations as well as other forbidden forms of magic such as Voodoo and Curses!
This branch of magic is powerful, but it will make certain people and factions hate you or distrust you based on how this branch of magic operates-
-Restoration: This branch of magic revolves around healing and the art of utilizing mana to aid others and smite evil with holy elemental spells and incantations as it also governs elemental and illusion magic!
This branch is extremely difficult to master but once learned it is very powerful and useful as many people will look upon you with cheer and good fortune based on this branch of magic-
-Manifestation: This branch of magic governs alchemy and enchanting as well as other methods of creation such as alchemical spells and incantations!
This branch of magic is relatively the weakest branch, but its power can outclass other magical branches given enough materials, time and effort!
People will noticeably be neutral towards you if you study this branch of magic as it isn't as flashy or powerful as the other branches even though it is arguably the most practical in terms of avoiding unwanted attention-

"Well, all three have advantages and disadvantages to be sure. Now Conjuration could be useful but having dead bodies around me all the time sounds unsanitary, and I don't even know where I would hide my work.
So, Conjuration is out, and Restoration sounds good, and it is powerful, but I don't want to be super popular just because of the type of magic I use.
Lastly is the Manifestation branch which is practical and can be useful and it isn't too flashy so people might not know I have magic and the element of surprise is always a good thing." Zander said to himself as he debated on which magical branch he should specialize in before he decided to make his choice.

"Ok that is a lot and I have a codex apparently." Zander said to himself before he looked over his tome as it magically changed at it is the size of a textbook with a dark velvet cover and the title of the book in gold on the front as Zander began reading the book.
And through reading it he unlocked a few skills.

"Cool and I'm guess that thirty over S means per second." Zander said to himself as he was reading over the rest of the book as it was more instructions and theories on the skills, he had just acquired but he didn't earn any other skills.
"I should find a place to practice." Zander said as he got dressed in a simple white T-shirt and blue jeans with sneakers as he left the house and headed down the nearest dark alley as he knew bugs tended to be around trash as he made sure nobody was watching him as he focused on the skill he just acquired until he felt a pull from his limited mana pool as he now had control over a cockroach of all things as he made it move around and what not before he stopped his spell and the bug ran into the nearest garbage can.
"Okay that wasn't so bad." Zander said before he went back into his home and went back to reading his magical tome as he waited for his MP to refill itself.
"Now that I think about it. I have powers and I can use them to help people so maybe I could go out and stop crimes like a hero when I am skilled enough at magic." Zander said as being a mask vigilante didn't sound like a bad idea, but he knew before he could do something like that, he needed skills and abilities that he simply didn't have at the moment.

"What am I even doing?" Zander asked himself in slight wonder as he was still dressed and currently walking around Gotham as he carefully avoided the more dangerous parts of the city as he just chose to go for a walk out of nowhere.
"Maybe I needed to clear my head." Zander said to himself as he just wandered around for a bit before he made his way down into the nearby subway just to loiter as he ended up seeing something strange above someone's head.

"What the hell?" Zander asked as he used his new skill and scanned the man.

Gabriel started looking around nervously as Zander acted chill and relaxed as he looked over Gabriel normally as he was a average looking man dressed in black and wearing a tan trench coat and when the timely subway train came to a stop at the station all hell broke loose.
Coming out of the train was three vampires apparently and Gabriel along with two other Lycans took out guns and changed the subway into a war zone making people run away as Zander couldn't run out as more vampires came down from the entrance, so he hid behind a garbage can and remained still as he looked on as the Lycans where killed.
"Damn Lycans where expecting us." One of them said loading another clip into his automatic handgun.
"We have a mole in our ranks obviously. But first let's deal with the stragglers." Gabriel said before loud growls were heard and out of the subway tunnel came five Lycan's in their beastly forms and now better able to shrug off bullets.
The Lycan's killed six of the vampires leaving just Gabriel and two others alive as Gabriel and the two vampires ran away as Zander thought it was odd that the police didn't show up yet.
"Should we chase them?" one of the wolfs asked
"No. They'll break out of the protective ward and tell their superiors and that is what we want but first let's deal with our little voyeur." The leader of the group said and before he could do anything. Zander was picked up by the neck by one of the Lycans.
"You must have some magical talent to be within this magical ward and hide perfectly during the battle. So, you're coming with us." The leader of the group said before Zander was taken with them as they went down into the subway tunnel and soon enough into the deeper and forgotten catacombs of Gotham's underground and after a fast-paced movement from the Lycans.
Zander was now face to face with an underground community of Lycans as Zander looked at the Lycan party leader to gather basic info.
Asher Styles, Lvl: 50
Lycan Death Dealer
"Take a good look kid. This might be the last thing you'll ever see." Asher said as they walked through the community with Zander being stared at by nearly everyone as Zander looked on at the scrap-built places and homes before he was taken into the largest house and in the living room of the place, he came face to face with the leader of the Lycans.
Cavin Malkor, Lvl: 200
First Lycan
Cavin is tall at six foot seven with dark brown skin, black hair done in shoulder length dreadlocks, silver eyes, he has a built physique and is wearing a silver and blue business suit and pants with brown dress shoes.
"Asher why have you brought a human here without my permission?" Cavin asked calmly but in a serious tone of voice.
"This human remained in our magical ward and that means he has potential. So, I thought you would want to look him over yourself." Asher said as Cavin looked Zander over for a bit.
"Leave us." Cavin ordered as Zander and Cavin were left alone in the house as Zander was a bit scared and had no idea how he could make his way back home. "Are you scared of us?" Cavin asked as he walked up to Zander as Zander had to look up to see the face of Cavin.
"I'd be an idiot if I wasn't scared." Zander said back.
"Fair enough. Now I can smell your mana so you are a mage, and I could use a mage on my side so I will be kind and offer you a choice. Right now, will you willingly join my cause, or will you leave and die in obscurity as another mage that made no impact on the world around him?" Cavin asked Zander.

This choice in front of Zander was a hard choice to make as he was looking for a way to train and grow stronger but he certainly didn't think that it would be with monsters and he had a feeling that leaving might be bad but at the same time his quest alert didn't tell him that he would die if he choose to go home so right now Zander is currently juggling his thoughts on what choice he should make.
Should he join the Lycans, or should he just run back home and pretend none of this happened even though he strongly doubted he could simply forget about the events he had witnessed.

Authors Note: Okay a new story and sorry for the wait my lovely fans but here it is and I decided to end it on a cliff hanger because cliff hangers are a good way to end things and keep people interested.
