Hello! Back for a new year- and possibly the final year! When I started this it was my freshman year of college, I'm now in my Senior year. I've successfully done the 12 days of Christmas for two years and I'm going to try my hardest to keep up with this year as well. Last year was a bad year for motivation, it was a bad year in general, but I'm hoping to make it through this year since it might be my last, not as a fanfiction writer but as a college student doing crazy challenges and the like.

I'm very, very excited to tackle these stories and these fandoms. I hope you enjoy this year's contribution and that maybe you're motivated to go back and read the previous year's Christmas fics.

I posted that I was going to write this fic on Tumblr and I think a lot of people thought it was a joke because I got like sixteen reblogs and one "lmao." But anyway it's a real fic and I'm really happy with it. It's stupid but fun, as all my Sambucky fics are intended to be. I have one other Sambucky fic called Picnic at the End of the World so go check that out if you liked this one.

Sam let out a little groan as they pulled boxes down from the attic.

"I hate winter. No offense."

"You know I don't have anything to do with winter, right? They just called me the winter soldier. That's not who I am anymore anyway."

"Right, sorry."

"I didn't take you for a Scrooge," Bucky teased, setting down another box of ornaments.

"I didn't say I hate Christmas I said I hate winter, there's a difference. Christmas is fine, it's family time, great, but winter? Winter is a drag. It's cold and it's dark and my wings freeze together. It sucks."

"Wow, I can't believe I found the one thing you hate more than me," Bucky said, nudging Sam with his shoulder.

"I don't hate you, dork."

"Good, because it was going to be a really awkward Christmas if you hated me." Bucky glanced around to see if Sam's family was around, and then he leaned over and stole a kiss.

"You know Sarah knows we're dating, right?" Sam asked, rolling his eyes a little.

"What? No, I didn't know that. I thought we were sneaking around. I was fully prepared to pretend not to be your boyfriend like the couple in that lesbian Christmas movie we watched.

"Bucky, we're not lesbians, and we're not in a Christmas special. And I'm not gonna pretend to be a straight dude in front of my family. I did that in high school it's literally never worth it."

"Well, I thought it might be fun, but okay. I guess I'll be your boyfriend." Bucky didn't glance around this time before pressing Sam against the wall and going in for another kiss. Sam let out a surprised grunt before melting into the kiss.

"Still hate winter?" Bucky asked when he pulled away.

"Yeah," Sam said, "But at least I'm with you."

Bucky laughed.

"You're so cheesy. You know it's Winter Solstice, right?"

"Yep, the shortest day of the year and the first day of winter. Is that supposed to make me feel better?"

"It is. Because it's kind of the first day of spring when you think about it. Because every day after this one there's going to be a little more sun, a little more warmth."

"Who's the cheesy one now?" Sam teased.

"Still you. Are you feeling a bit better? Or do I need to kiss you again?"

"I think you need to kiss me again." Sam didn't have to ask twice. Bucky kissed him until they heard someone clear their throat behind them.

"Hey, lovebirds, are you going to get the rest of the Christmas decorations out of the attic or not?"

"Sorry, Sarah, we'll be done soon," Sam promised.

"Done getting the decorations or done making out? You're part of the family now, Bucky-"

"Oh! Thank you!" Bucky was surprised and delighted by that revelation.

"-So make yourself useful."

"Right, right away, Sarah." Bucky pulled away from his boyfriend, to Sam's obvious disappointment, and let Sam watch him from behind as he climbed up the attic ladder and grabbed another box of ornaments, which was enough of a consolation prize.
