Yu Narukami sat on the train, waiting to arrive at his destination, Tokyo.
His parents sent him to live with his uncle this year, they were sent to a foreign country by their company, and when they asked Yu if he wanted to go with them, he refused thinking that they will allow him to live alone in their house. But to his surprise, his mother called her brother to take him in for the time being.
His parents found a school to accept him, the only problem was that he needed to wait until May, which was, luckily, three days away.
He spent those days with his friends and family, but he was sent there immediately when the time came.
Back on the train, Yu felt his eyes get heavy, he closed them, only to see a woman standing in the dark, once she turned to look at Yu, she started screaming.
In shock, Yu opened his eyes, sweat going down from the side of his face.
He looked around to see that it was only a dream, he leaned back on the chair he was sitting on and looked outside the window to see that the buildings of Tokyo on the horizon.
He looked at his watch to see the time, his journey was 40 minutes from its finish.
Once Yu got out of the train, he saw his uncle, Dojima Ryotaeo. Standing next to a wall, next to him was a little girl.
Yu raised his arm and waved at them, Dojim grabbed the girl's hand and walked towards him.
"long time no see, how is my sister? " said Dojima.
"Nice to see you again, uncle." said Yu before bowing.
Yu raised his head to see the little girl hugging his uncle's leg. Dojima kneeled next to the girl "this is your cousin, Yu. Go say hi to him, Nanako."
The girl looked at Yu, she stood next to Dojima and bowed "nice to meet you. " she said before going back behind Dojima.
Yu bowed "Nice to meet you too, Nana-chan. " he said before seeing the little girl's face turn red "you have to excuse her, she's a little shy, she hasn't seen you in 5 years after all."
"Anyway, let's go home, you have an important day tomorrow." said Dojima before grabbing Nanako's hand "My car is nearby, let's go. "
"Since you don't know your way around, I'll take you to school tomorrow. But after that you have to take the train," said Dojima while driving.
"thank you. By the way, where do you live? " asked Yu.
"We live in Yonger Jaya Street." said Nanako.
Yu looked at her and smiled, "it's a pretty safe area so you don't have to worry." said Dojima
Yu nodded his head, and for the rest of the way, Dojima kept asking about his mother and father.
"here we are, this is our house," said Dojima.
It was a normal house, not too big but also not a small one. Dojima took out Yu's bag from the back and handed it to Yu "Nanako will take you to your room, I still have work to do so you don't have to wait for me, eat your dinner and go to bed early. " said Dojima before driving off.
"from here please. " said Nanako before opening the door. Yu grabbed his bag and followed her inside.
The house was pretty clean from the inside, "where is your mom, Nana-chan ?" asked Yu.
"I don't have a mom, I take care of the house when Father is not around." she said with a smile.
Yu didn't know what to say, he didn't hear anything from his mother about his uncle's wife, but what made it worse for him was the smile that Nanako showed on her face.
"then for today, let me cook for you as a thank you for accepting me. " said Yu.
"you don't have to, I'll do it. " said Nanako.
Yu kneeled next to her "can't you let me do it, just for today."
Nanako looked at the ground for a moment "Ok, just for today. " she said with a smile.
Yu got up and smiled "thank you, just let me change."
"Oh, yes. Your room is upstairs, the first one on the right. " said Nanako.
After Yu changed, he was walking down the stairs "every day's great at your Junes." he heard Nanako singing. He smiled and entered the kitchen "Nana-chan, what would you like to eat for dinner? " Yu asked.
Nanako got up and walked to the kitchen "can you make an omelet? " she asked to which Yu smiled and nodded his head "then I want that, please." he nodded his head again and started cooking, while every once in a while he heard Nanako sing the same song.
After he finished cooking, he grabbed the plats and put them on the kotatsu, he sat down and put his legs underneath it.
"Nana-chan." he said which made her look at him "WOW, it looks delicious." she said before grabbing the spoon and eating some "and it tastes delicious as well. "
After Nanako and Yu finished their dinner, Nanako saw Yu yawning "I can take care of the rest, you must be tired. " she said which surprised Yu, where did the shy little girl who was hiding from him behind her dad.
He nodded his head "thank you." he said before getting up "oh and by the way, I hung your uniform On the wall. Good night." she said before entering the kitchen with the dirty plats "good night." said Yu before going to his room.
he changed in a hurry si he didn't get to see around the room much, so when he entered the room, he started looking around. He saw a TV on the far left said, besides it was an empty shelf and opposite of that was his bed, he looked at the door to see that his uniform was hung next to it.
"sigh I'll unpack my bags later, let's go to sleep." he thought.
"settle down everybody." said Kawakami who was standing in front of the students "before we start, I have an announcement." she looked around to see that some of the students are still talking "today, we have a new student. " Immetudly, everybody stopped talking and fixed their eyes on her "now that I got your attention, let's me introduce him " she looked at the door "you can enter."
The whole class looked at the door waiting for the door to open, when it did, a guy with silver hair entered. He was wearing his uniform with his blazer opened, showing the turtleneck he was wearing underneath "this is Yu Narukami, his parents had to travel for their job, see he'll be studying here for this year. "
Yu bowed "nice to meet you all, I hope we can get along. " the voices of the other student were loud enough for Yu to hear
"he doesn't look like the rumors said, I heard he has black hair."
"Yeah, it isn't him, I saw the pictures."
Yu looked at Kawakami "did I say something ?" Kawakami looked at him with an awkward smile "N-no, Ahem, let's see, your seat…" but before she could say anything, a girl wearing a green jacket with its neck buttons unlocked, showing the same turtleneck Yu was wearing, raised her hand "Kawakami sensei, can he sit here."
Kawakami nodded her head "you can sit beside Chie-san "
After sitting down, the girl named Chie looked at him " hello there, my name is Chie, nice to meet you. This is…" she was cut off by Kawakami "Chie, I didn't put him beside you to flirt with him."
The whole class started to laugh, even Kawakami turn to the board handing her laughter, Chie's cheeks turned red, she hid her face by putting her head on the desk.
"since he is new, can you share your notes with him after you finish flirting." said Kawakami with made the class laugh again "sensei" shouted Chie.
Yu looked around surprised, he thought this school would look similar to the school in his hometown. But that's not the case at all, in his last school all the teacher did was talk about lessons and about choosing your career. But here, the very first thing the teacher does is to make the whole class laugh, and it doesn't look like the others are annoyed. Even the girl started laughing.
Yu smiled "this year might be better than I thought it would be " he thought.
After everyone stopped laughing, Kawakami started the lesson.
Yu grabbed his bag and stood up "hay " he heard.
He looked up to see the same girl from the morning "hi," he said before seeing two people behind her.
The girl saw him looking at her friends "oh, those are my friends " she said before moving to the side "this is Yukiko " she said pointing at a girl wearing a red jacket, she was grabbing her bag with both of her hands "and this asshole here is Yosuke" she said pointing at a boy behind her who wore headphones around his neck "jeez, I already said sorry." said the bey before the girl turned around to look at him "you think saying sorry would be enough after destroying my treasure"
The girl who was wearing red, Yukiko stood beside Yu "what happened? " he asked.
The girl looked at him surprised "umm, I think Yosuke broke something that was Chie's." she said embarrassed.
"would you look at that, our Yukiko is talking to someone she just met. " said Chie before laughing while slapping the boy's back.
Yukiko's cheeks turned a slight red "that's not true, I talked to someone before. " Chie looked at her "talking to miss Kawakami doesn't count. " she said before laughing.
The boy who was rubbing his back looked at Yu "hello there " he said offering his hand for a handshake "nice to meet you, I'm Yosuke " Yu did the same with his hand "Yu, nice to meet you "
"Anyway, want to come with us, Yosuke here offered to buy us lunch after breaking my CD" said Chie before glaring at Yusuke.
"Hey, I said sorry, ok. And don't go inviting peop…" Yosuke was cut off by Yu "sure" Yosuke looked at him surprised "Y-yeah, sure."
"what are you all talking about " they all turned to see a boy and a girl, the boy wore a yellow undershirt with the school blazer while the girl wore a hooded sweatshirt under her blazer.
"you came at the right time." said Chie
"Oi, Chie" said Yosuke before he started whispering "I don't have enough money for all of us " Chie looked at him with an angry smile "yes you do." she said before she grabbed his arm "Right"
"y-yes mame" said Yusuke.
"who is that guy, Chie." said the boy who was standing in the back. "oh yes, this is Yu. He transferred today " she said before turning to Yu "this is Ann" she said pointing at the girl and then the boy "and this is Ryuji. "
"Nice to meet you " said Yu. Ryuji and Ann looked at Chie to see her nodding her head, they looked back at Yu "nice to meet you " they said both.
"I heard something about lunch. " said Ann with a smile. Chie clapped her hands together "Yosuke offered to buy us lunch, would you like to join us. is that ok, Yosuke " she said looking at him with a grin nn her face
"ok ok, whatever" he said before turning around and opening his wallet.
"ohhh, I know a place that makes the best ramen, how about it ." said Ryuji.
"no, we always eat ramen, we need something new today. Hmm, " Chie said before putting her hand under her Chin "oh I know, how about some beef." she said before looking around.
Everyone was nodding his head "it's decided then, let's go" she said before looking at Yosuke "what's wrong" she asked.
He turned around with a sad look on his face "you dare ask " he said while glaring at her "hay, you offered first, don't you dare regret it " she said before she started to laugh.
"you seem happy " Yu heard before looking at Ann "I thought it'll be sometime before I can make friends, I didn't know it'll be this easy " he said with a smile "you can thank Chie for that, she likes to make new friends." she said before looking at Chie and smiling.
"Anyway, let's get going." said Chie while looking at the others.
They all stood in front of a shop called beef bowl "this is it " said Chie pointing at the shop.
They all followed her inside, they saw a girl with blue hair standing behind the counter, she was wearing a red apron "welcome to our shop, what would you like " she said.
"six Medium pieces of beef. Please " said Chie before Yosuke grabbed her shoulder from behind "Chie, pleas that's too much. " he said before she glared at him again before she sighed" don't be stingy, your father owns Junes." she said before she heard the blue-haired girl saying "ten minutes and your order will be finished, you can wait at that table. " she said before pointing towards a table beside the window "thank you. " said Chie before she dragged Yosuke who was still shocked followed by the rest.
When they sat on the table, Yosuke slammed his head on the table "umm, I can buy for half of the …" Yu was cut off by Yosuke "no way, he destroyed my treasure and now he has to buy for what he did " said Chie with an angry voice.
"literally. " said Yukiko before everyone except Yosuke started to laugh.
"oh, by the way, this morning when I entered the class and on my way to it, I kept hearing people talking about the rumored transfer student, what's all that about ? " asked Yu.
"Apparently, someone who has a criminal record will transfer to your class." said Ryuji.
"what? " said Yu in a surprised voice "yeah, they say he attacked someone after he tried to attack a girl." said Yukiko.
"why would they accept someone like that here ? " asked Yu.
"who knows, for all you know, the principal is trying to use him to make the school look better. " said Ryuji.
"even so, what if he really is dangerous like you said." said Yu before hearing a voice right beside him "your order is ready" he jumped back punching Yosuke who was sitting beside him to the ground "sorry, are you ok? " said Yu.
"I lost all of my money and I was hit, what a great day. " he said before getting up.
The girl put the food down on the table "enjoy " she said before leaving, everyone looked at Yosuke and started laughing.
"Thanks for the food" they all said before they started to eat.
"Back on topic, how do all of you feel about that guy?" asked Yu.
"as long as he doesn't bother me, I don't care" said Chie while eating.
"same, if he's that dangerous, I don't want to get involve with him " said Ann.
Yu looked at Yosuke and Ryuji "what if it turned out to be a false rumor ?" asked Yu.
They both nodded their heads "we saw the file, he did comment assault, so I would rather stay away from him" said Ryuji.
"I would say the same about all of us. Don't get involved with him " said Yosuke before he started to eat.
"When is he coming anyway ?" asked Yukiko.
Chie started to play with the chopstick in her hand "hmm, next week if I remember correctly "
As they all kept talking, the topic kept changing but it always stayed on Yu, they asked him about his liver back home and where does he live, about his parents and even more.
"I always wanted to live in a place like that " said Yukiko only to be looked at by Chie with a wired look on her face "what's so good about living in the countryside, it's boring. No offense. " she said looking at Yu.
Yu smiled "it's true though, you might enjoy it for some time, but ultimately the life there is boring. "
"don't you worry dude, we'll make sure you have fun while you're staying with us " said Ryuji with a smile on his face and his thump is up.
"and starting tomorrow, we'll take you all over the city, starting with Junes" said Yusuke.
"Junes, I heard about it yesterday. What is it? " asked Yu.
"it's a shopping mall. And his family own it " said Chie pointing at Yusuke.
"don't let her fool you, we only own the one here, the shop is all over Japan" said Yosuke looking at Yu.
"that's still impressive." said Yu.
"yeah says the guy whose parents go all over the world " said Yosuke with a sarcastic voice.
"yeah but I don't get to see them a lot, last year I had to live alone for six months, it gets pretty lonely." he said before seeing everyone looking at him "did I say anything wrong." he said before he was cut off by Chie "we will have a lot of fun together, don't you worry "
"We know a lot of fun places. " said Ann.
"and we'll take you to all of them. " said Ryuji.
"we'll make sure you have a lot of fun this year. " said Yukiko.
"you can count on us. " said Yusuke.
"guys…" said Yu before he heard the voice of the same blur-haired girl from earlier "I'm sorry to interrupt you, but could you please lower your voices." she said which made them look around.
People were staring at them "well, this is awkward. " said Chie.
"Since we're done eating, let's go. " said Yukiko.
"yes I agree, let's go before we annoy other customers. " said Yosuke before he started to leave only to be grabbed from the back by Chie "did you forget something " Yosuke threw his head downward and followed the blue-haired girl to pay for the food.
She stepped behind the counter "10000 yen please "
Yosuke started to scream inside while opening his wallet, but he saw a hand from the side, he looked to see Yu standing next to him, he looked at him and smiled and gave him a small nod "can I hug you " said Yosuke with a voice full of happiness "I would prefer it if you don't " said Yu with the same smile on his face.
"here is the change, come again. " said the girl.
"thank you." said Yu before they all left.
They saw the rest standing outside of the shop "what took you so long? " asked Chie.
"anyway, any plans for the night? " asked Chie.
"My mother called, she wants me to help in the Inn. " said Yukiko.
"my parents called too, they said they have something important to tell me. " said Ann.
"in that case, let's go home for the night, let's gather after school and visit Junes tomorrow." said Yusuke.
"alright." shouted Chie.
"Well then, good night everyone. " said Yukiko before she left.
"good night" they all said before they all left.
When Yu returned home, he saw Nanaku watching the TV " welcome home " she said looking at him.
"I made dinner for tonight, I hope you enjoy it " she said before she sat down under the kotatsu.
In all honesty, Yu was full, but he couldn't say no to her, so he sat down and started to eat while watching the TV.
After they finished the dinner "where is uncle? " Yu asked.
"dad said he had to work overtime today. " she said while grabbing the plate.
Yu felt sadness from her voice, he sat up and went next to her in the kitchen and started to help her clean.
"thank you. "she said with a smile. To which Yu smiled back and nodded his head.
After they finished, they sat down and started to watch the TV, when Yu saw Nanako has fallen asleep, he carried her to her room and put her in her bed.
He closed the door slowly before he went to his room, he laid on the bed, but before he could fall asleep, he saw a light, he opened his eyes and looked to where the light was coming, it was coming from the TV. he got up and walked towards the TV, but when he got close to it, the light has died down.
He put his hand over his head "I must be tired, or it's from all the food I ate " he said before going back to bed.
