Author's Note:

Hello, everybody! Thank you for opening this story, it is really eager for you to read it :) Before we start I have some things to tell you first.

First of all, this is my first fanfic, so please don't break me really harshly .

Second of all, when I publish this story I only joined Quotev a little more than two weeks ago, so I still try to figure out some things. So if you have some comments or suggestions feel free to inform me of them, your opinion is very welcomed :)

And third of all, I think it's the most important part, English isn't my mother language, but I love it very much, so this story is also some form of practice for my writing style. I apologize if you find some mistakes while reading, but I try hard to reread carefully my texts before publishing, so I hope if there are mistakes they won't make reading too uncomfortable for you)

I hope you'll like this story, please, review if you want, it is always welcomed along with healthy criticism and makes me happy :) I plan to update every week or so, so be sure that there will be new chapters until I see the end of this story (I hope it'll be long till then).

There you can find my drawings and arts, on Danny Phantom included ❤️

So thank you for listening, I wish good reading time for you and welcome to this story! :)

In an expensive hospital ward on the bed seated Danny Fenton. Danny Phantom. A lot of bruises and scratches were adoring his body, his black short unruly hair was dirty and messy. He stared at one dot on the wall and silently cried. He couldn't stop and he didn't want to. Because now he was alone... Now his family and friends were gone...

He didn't know how that could have happened. He didn't understand how one cheated test could've had such a consequence on his entire life. It all felt like an illusion. Like it was not really real. But all the facts talked otherwise. It was yesterday. Yesterday his whole life got destroyed. Because he had cheated on a test.

Suddenly very fast steps could be heard on the other side of the door. Danny had time to think that no one will ever run like this to him, before the door to his ward swung open. Danny heard a hard sign, before suddenly... he was enveloped in a hug.

One second he didn't move. But in a moment he raised his head to find a man in a crisp black expensive suit with red tie, dark blue eyes, neat goatee and white hair, made in a low ponytail. This man was holding Danny tightly, one hand cupping the back of his head to keep him closer to his chest.

"Daniel…"

Danny looked up at the man's face. It was true. It was Vlad Masters, Danny's arch-enemy, a mastermind billionaire, who so desperately wanted to take his mom from his dad and make him his son and apprentice. The one who invested so much trouble and hurt into Danny's life. But now there was no smug grin on his face, no malicious gleam in the eye, no threatening grimace... On the contrary, Vlad's eyes were filled with tears, body slightly trembled and big bags from the lack of sleep were under his eyes.

"Vlad?.." mumbled Danny, and their eyes locked.

Vlad whimpered strangely and increased a hold on the boy. The embrace was very strong, but gentle nonetheless.

"Oh, Daniel…" Vlad finally said, burying his face in Danny's black hair for a moment. "Thank God, you're alive! Thank God, you're okay!"

I was confused, but did no move to back away.

"Oh, Little Badger... I... I am so sorry... I am so so sorry for not being there... I am so sorry!.."

And at that very moment something snapped inside of Danny. He was crying silently before Vlad came, but now it seemed like all the weight of what happened got to him and threatened to crush. The realization of his tragedy finally got loose from his initial shock and now was tearing his heart apart with grief. Tears flowed from his eyes like rivers and loud sobs started to shake his body.

"No!" he suddenly cried. "This can't be! They can't!... They c-can't be... g-gone!"

"I'm sorry, Little Badger!" whispered Vlad into his hair. His left hand was now rubbing circles on the boy's back and the right one stroked his hair soothingly. "I know... I know this is hard... But everything will be okay, I promise. I won't leave you."

"WHY DID THEY HAVE TO LEAVE?!" shouted Danny on the edge of his voice in hysterics. "WHY DIDN'T I DIE WITH THEM?!"

These words cut daggers into Vlad's heart and made him cry silently and hold Danny tighter again.

"Don't say that, Little Badger! Please, don't say that! Your parents wouldn't want you to be now with them! They would want you safe and alive."

At that moment doctors ran into the ward, concerned by the screaming. Vlad nodded at them and they started to prepare a sedative.

"WHY DID THEY HAVE TO GO?! I LOVED THEM!" cried Danny, now tightly holding the cloth of Vlad's suit-coat in his fists. "I DIDN'T WANT THEM TO DIE! I WANTED THEM TO BE PROUD OF ME! WHY?!"

Vlad shushed Danny gently, while the doctor aimed the needle and shot the boy with a sedative on the arm. But Danny didn't even notice the doctor's move. He was clinging to Vlad and the man even became afraid that one shot won't do its thing. But a few minutes later, the sobs started to die away, forced by a drug.

Vlad was still hugging and shushing the boy with concern and gentleness he didn't know he possessed.

But finally Danny noticed the effects of the medicine.

"V-Vlad…" he said in a small voice. "S-something's... wrong…"

"It's okay, Little Badger, it's going to be okay," Vlad whispered into the boy's ear. "You won't be alone, I promise. I won't leave you. Everything's going to be okay... Don't cry, my boy, don't cry, I've got you... I've got you."

The sobs were replaced by hiccups before disappearing completely. Vlad looked at the fragile small child in his hands. Oh, how was he worried for him! How he prayed so he was alive after the accident! And how his heart was bleeding at the sight of his injuries and black circles under his eyes. It seems the boy didn't have any sleep since the day of the tragedy. He was in shock, but now, when the familiar face was in front of him, the reality finally caught up with him.

Vlad tightened his hold on the unmoving body of the boy and let his head lay close to his heart.

"You're going to handle this, Little Badger," he whispered in the child's hair with silent tears streaming down his face. "I will make sure you live once more. I will make sure you are happy again. No matter the cost... You won't be alone, Daniel. I've got you. I've got you."
