Gifts Are Not As Important As You
It was December and Optimus smiled. "The one-month truce," he said with a happy sigh.
A beep came from Teletraan-1 indicating a call and the leader of the Autobots answered to find it was Megatron, who nodded to him. "Hello, Prime," he said.
"Hello, Megatron," Optimus said with a nod.
"All has been well," the leader of the Decepticons said. "We've been keeping an eye in space, but those five-faced creeps haven't appeared."
"Good," the blue-and-red Autobot said. "We've been on the lookout for them too."
"Should they appear, may I suggest that old bomb shelter at that old air base as a refuge for both our teams?" Megatron said. "I've looked into it and it would be a good place to shelter just in case."
Optimus nodded in agreement. "Agreed, Megatron," he said.
"Good day, Prime."
Katie, who had been looking for her father, came up to him. "Daddy, was that Megatron?" She asked.
"Yes, pumpkin," he said, smiling. "He was just confirming something with me."
The little girl smiled before looking hopeful. "Do you think Thundercracker, Skywarp, Astrotrain, and Starscream can join us for Christmas?" She asked.
"I believe they might be able to," her father said, knowing his little girl loved the four 'Cons that had saved her long ago and were quite fond of her, though Starscream wouldn't admit it out loud that he was fond of the young girl.
Ironhide, Chromia, Prowl, Ratchet, and Wheeljack came in. "Got all the outside decorations up," Wheeljack said.
"Looks like we're all ready for Christmas," Chromia said with a smile. "Hopefully the guys found a tree."
The Wreckers, Hound, Mirage, Trailbreaker, Sideswipe, and Sunstreaker all came in then, carrying a rather large tree. "The guy running the lot told us this was the best one," Springer said as they got the tree set up.
"Wow," Elita said with a smile. "This will be a good tree to decorate."
Moonracer smiled as she saw the tree. "We better get the ornaments and stuff for the tree then," she said, heading to the storage room with Skyfire, the Aerialbots, and Protectobots right behind her."
Blaster, Jazz, and Bluestreak were setting up the speakers for the music and Kreemzeek was helping them by checking the wires, pointing out when some wires needed to be replaced or weren't working right. Perceptor, Inferno, Firestar, Red Alert, and Arcee were making sure everything would be ready for the meal and that sweet treats were being made at the same time, which made a wonderful smell fill the ARK.
Ultra Magnus was keeping watch and he smiled at seeing some familiar Decepticons arriving at the door and he let them in before turning around. "Katie, you have some visitors," he said, still smiling.
The little girl gasped at seeing them. "TC! Warp! Astro! Star!" She said happily, running up to them and jumping at Thundercracker, who caught her in his arms and hugged her happily.
"Merry Christmas, sweetspark," he cooed to her before handing her to his brothers, who also hugged her and then Astrotrain hugged her.
"You ready for Christmas, Katie?" Skywarp asked.
"Yes," she said, which was mostly the truth. In reality, she was trying to figure out what to give Ultra Magnus for Christmas. She had everyone else's gifts, but couldn't think of what to give the bot she loved as an uncle.
Roller and Bumblebee rolled up, both having gone and got the stuff needed to wrap gifts. "Okay, we got all the supplies," the small yellow bot said as Roller beeped happily.
"Good work," Optimus said as some of them headed out to wrap up last-minute gifts.
Katie was deep in thought before looking up into the sky and seeing it was starting to snow and the stars were shining bright. She was reminded of the song 'Do You Hear What I Hear?' and she at once perked up, knowing exactly what to give Ultra Magnus, but she was going to need some help.
Sky Lynx, having seen the girl deep in thought, came up to her. "What are you thinking about, Katie?" He asked.
She grinned. "I have to get one last gift, but I need help," she said. "We have to go see Santa for it."
"Another North Pole adventure?" He asked before smiling. "Then we better hurry. Christmas will be here soon."
Rewind overheard them and looked at his siblings, who nodded and they went up to Katie. "Count us in too," Eject said.
"Hop aboard."
Katie turned to see her father was coming up to them and she smiled. "Daddy, is it okay if I go with Sky Lynx and the cassettes?" She asked. "I have an idea as to what to give Uncle Magnus, but I need Santa's help."
He smiled. "Alright," he said. "Be careful out there. And Sky Lynx, inform us if anything happens."
"Yes, sir, Prime," Sky Lynx said. "I assure you, we'll protect Katie well."
Getting into her snowsuit, mittens, scarf, boots, and hat, Katie and the cassettes climbed into Sky Lynx and he headed off for the North Pole. Thanks to his speed, they got there pretty quick and once he landed and they disembarked, they heard a happy sound and looked to see a familiar face. "Hey, look who it is," Ramhorn said.
"Frostine!" Katie said happily, hugging the baby polar bear as she ran up to the girl. "I'm happy to see you."
Frostine ran ahead of them and looked back, as if encouraging them to follow her. They did and soon saw the wonderful sight of the North Pole with the elves all about doing their thing and the elves waved happily to the Autobots, polar bear, and the little girl as they headed to Santa's home and Katie knocked on the door, which was opened a moment later by a kind-faced woman, who smiled.
"Katie," she said before seeing the others. "Do come in, everyone."
"Thank you, Mrs. Clause," Eject said as the others echoed his thanks.
"Mrs. Clause, is Santa here?" Katie asked. "I need his help with something."
"He's in his workshop, dear," the white-haired lady said. "Just down the steps and take the first right you come to."
Following her instructions, the little girl and the cassettes went to Santa's workshop while Sky Lynx rested from the flight to be ready for the flight home. Santa was looking over his list of the children of the world when he saw Katie and the cassettes and smiled. "Well, hello there," he said, standing up. "To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"
"Santa!" Katie said happily, running up to hug him and picked her up. "I need some help. I have an idea for a gift for my uncle, Ultra Magnus."
"Oh?" He asked. "And what sort of gift is it?"
Grinning, the child whispered it in his ear and he smiled. "That is a wonderful idea, Katie. He'll appreciate such a thoughtful gift."
"Can you help me create it?" The child asked.
"Can I deliver presents in one night?" Santa teased, gently tapping the little girl's nose playfully to make her giggle.
It wasn't long before the gift was ready and, thanking Santa, they headed out, pausing to see the reindeer and to pet them. The reindeer wished them well and praised Katie for her thoughtful gift. "Your uncle will like it for sure," said Rudolph.
"You guys be careful out there too," Katie said. "I'll make sure to put out carrots for you all."
The reindeer smiled at the thoughtful girl before she and the cassettes climbed aboard Sky Lynx, who was getting a bit worried. "The snow's coming down harder," he said. "Buckle up, everyone."
They did and Steeljaw lifted up his head, sensing the change in the air and gave a quiet growl. "Yes, I know," Sky Lynx answered the cat. "That's why I want to get us back before the blizzard hits."
They took off, but the blizzard hit right then and made it hard to see, though Sky Lynx did his best before he finally touched down. "We'll have to go on foot for a bit," he said.
They were all walking and staying together until a rumbling sound caught their attention and they looked up to see snow was coming down off the mountain. "Avalanche!" Rewind cried out.
"Run!" Katie said as they began running, but the avalanche was getting closer. Katie then tripped and dropped her gift just as the avalanche was almost upon her.
"Katie!" Eject cried out.
"Look out!" Ramhorn yelled.
Steeljaw raced in and managed to grab Katie and jump to avoid the snow, managing to land on a sheet of snow that held steady and he surfed on it until he managed to jump and Sky Lynx caught him as the others were on top of his back. "Hold on!" He said as they flew above the avalanche before finding a safe spot to land.
Katie realized her gift to her uncle was gone and she began crying. "Katie, what's wrong?" Rewind asked. "Are you hurt?"
"N-No," she sobbed out. "But Uncle Magnus' gift is gone!"
They gathered closer to her as she continued to cry.
Back at the base, Rachel was playing with her blocks when she felt something wasn't right and grew worried, about to go find Optimus when she saw two familiar figures appear in front of her and she gasped. "Alpha Trion and Primus?" She asked.
"Rachel, you must tell Optimus and Ultra Magnus that Katie needs them," Alpha Trion said.
"There was an avalanche at the North Pole," Primus said. "No one is hurt, but they are stuck where they are for the moment."
The little girl nodded and at once ran out to find Optimus, who was speaking with Megatron and Soundwave and they looked to see her come in and she looked worried. "Uncle Optimus, Katie needs help," she said. "There was an avalanche at the North Pole. No one's hurt, but they're stuck."
Megatron turned to Soundwave. "Soundwave, can you track their location?" He asked.
"Affirmative," Soundwave said as he sent out Lazerbeak, who at once headed out and soon found where Sky Lynx and the others were, transmitting the coordinates, to which Skyfire transformed and Optimus climbed aboard with Ultra Magnus, Thundercracker, and Skywarp with him. Megatron gave Soundwave orders to continue transmitting the coordinates to Skyfire while he headed back to the base to make sure the Quintessons weren't behind the avalanche.
Katie and the others sat in a cave and the little girl was tired, so she rested beside Ramhorn and Steeljaw, who moved closer to help her stay warm. She closed her eyes and fell asleep, only to open her eyes later when she felt a warmth that felt familiar and she looked up to see Alpha Trion and Primus standing before her and smiling.
"Grandpa? Primus?" She asked.
"It's alright, little princess," Primus said soothingly.
"Your family is coming," Alpha Trion said.
She sniffled. "But I lost Uncle Magnus' gift," she said.
"All is not lost, little one," Primus said gently as they faded away and the little girl woke up, looking around as she then saw a familiar silhouette in the mouth of the cave where she and the others had taken refuge.
"Daddy?" She asked.
Optimus was relieved to hear her voice. "Katie," he said, going in and picking her up. Sky Lynx stood up.
"I'm sorry, sir," he said. "A blizzard and then an avalanche caught us off guard."
"It's alright, Sky Lynx," Optimus said. "You all kept Katie safe and that's what counts."
The cassettes all gathered together and Ultra Magnus came in, looking relieved. "The storm's cleared up," he said.
They headed for home and Katie sighed sadly as she thought about the lost gift and Ultra Magnus noticed. "Katie, what's wrong?" He asked as he picked her up, holding her in a hug.
She sniffled as she began to cry again. "I lost your gift, Uncle Magnus," she said. "I had the perfect gift for you, but I lost it in the avalanche."
He hugged her closer. "Katie, you're more important than any gift," he said. "I don't know what we'd do if we ever lost you."
"I agree with him," Thundercracker said.
"Ditto," said Skywarp.
They soon arrived and Rachel hugged her little sister before smiling. "Katie, something appeared in our room," she said, taking her little sister to their room and on Katie's bed was Ultra Magnus' gift. Katie's eyes widened.
"How...?" She asked.
A bit of magic filled the air and they giggled. "Santa Clause!" The girls said together, knowing it was the man himself that made sure the gift arrived safely.
Christmas morning arrived and everyone was enjoying themselves and opening gifts when Ultra Magnus opened his and found it to be a snowglobe with a light-up star inside and when he pressed the button, the song "Do You Hear What I Hear?" began playing.
Katie smiled at him and felt her uncle give her a big hug. "This is a wonderful present, Katie, but remember, nothing is more important than you on Christmas."
She smiled and nodded, hugging him. "Merry Christmas, Uncle Magnus," she said.
"Merry Christmas, sweetspark."
Merry Christmas, everyone! :)
