Awakening

New York City, 1994

It is a regular dark and gloomy night in the city that never sleeps when to the shock of people walking and driving the streets, a barrage of explosions and gunfire can be heard high up a skyscraper that reaches above the clouds and there are flashes of light that happen at the same time explosions are heard.

The display was so loud and bright that it looked like a fight among gods in the heavens.

But then a lot of rubble from whatever is happening falls from above, causing the civilians to run to avoid getting injured. The rubble even causes an incoming taxi to crash into a pile of rocks with the driver and citizen fleeing. A whole squad of flashing police cars arrive at the scene, including two civilian cars that have lights and even sirens.

Exiting the red and white car is a 26 year old woman of African American and Native American heritage from her parents. She has long dark blue hair and brown eyes. She is wearing a red jacket over a black shirt.

And exiting the brown car is a young man, looking like he was in his mid 20's with slightly tanned skin with abnormal short grey hair, stubble and dark brown eyes. He is wearing a black leather jacket over a beige shirt and is noticeably wearing a silver necklace that looked like it was from medieval times as it was Celtic knot with a gem in the middle.

They nodded to each other, greeting each other before looking up at the lightworks up in the clouds.

"Get back! Get back!" A police officer warned the crowd that started to gather around. The two people walked up to him, pulling out their badges.

"Maza. 23rd." The woman said.

"Investigator Justin Forge." The man said.

"Can you tell us what's going on?" Maza asked as they both put their badges away.

"You got me. Must be one heck of a party up there." The officer told them as they looked back up, hearing the booming, which then stopped for a bit right before more rubble started falling towards them. The crowd broke apart and ran. Forge pushed Maza out of the way before he jumped to avoid being hit himself.

Forge then noticed people just standing.

"GET OUT OF HERE!" He bellowed out, sounding a lot like a roar. It was so loud that Maza, who was next to him, clasped her hands on her ears.

"Jeez, you'd think they want to wind up as street pizza." Maza muttered under her breath. The two then noticed something on a piece of the rubble. It was four distinct claw marks. Maza looked at them with confusion and curiosity, while Forge looked at them with shock and hope.

More gunfire was heard from above and another wave of rubble started to fall down.

"Move!" He shouted and the two ran as a chunk of rock hit a fire hydrant, causing water to rain down on the street.

Maza and Forge look up at the skyscraper before looking back at the claw marks.

"What could be strong enough to leave claw marks in solid stone?" She pondered. Forge was silent as he was starting to grow hope.

I hope it's them. Please be them. I've been alone for too long. I must be with them. Forge thought. He isn't what he appears to be. But in order to understand who and what he is and what his hopes are, this story has to go back a thousand years into the past.

Scotland, 994 A.D.

At Castle Wyvern, a siege is commencing as Vikings are invading in the glowing of a setting sun. The soldiers of the castle fire arrows down at the invaders, who protect themselves with shields and have catapults by their side.

"Fire!" A blonde Viking ordered and a catapult threw a boulder at one of the castle walls, causing some of the archers to fall as the walkway broke apart.

High up on one of the many towers of the castle, there were Gargoyle statues placed on the ledges, one of them being placed on the very top of the tower. Sitting next to one of two female Gargoyle statues was a familiar young man, this time with long grey hair tied back in a ponytail, wearing simple armour and had a sword in hand. His left hand stroked the female Gargoyle's hand in a tender way.

"Just a few more minutes, darling." He muttered in a Scottish accent, watching the siege unfold with the sun starting to set.

"Stand fast! We can hold them back!" A man with long brown hair, grey facial hair, wearing armour shouted to all the men as he held a spiked mace.

"Aye. And catch boulders with our teeth while we're about it." One of two archers in front of the man, who was the Captain of the Guard, replied, sounding a bit fed up.

"It's your choice, then, me lads. The catapult, or me." The Captain threatened them, pulling his sword out of his scabbard. The two archers backed off from their hesitation.

"Back to your posts! In a few more minutes the sun will be down, and then we'll see some fun." The Captain grinned before walking off, leaving the archers confused slightly. A boulder was launched into the air, crashing right where the two archers were, throwing them off the walkway.

With the Vikings, one of them looked up at the castle with a determined look. The same blonde haired Viking who ordered the catapults to fire. He looked up at the tower with the Gargoyles and saw Justin waving at him with a casual grin, which irked him a lot.

"Attacking a castle full of Gargoyles near nightfall. This is crazy. And Hakon knows it." A Viking muttered to another as they looked at the tower as well and saw Justin waving at them now.

"No, my friend, that's not crazy. Questioning my sanity when I'm in earshot, that's crazy!" The blonde Viking snapped at them, grabbing one of them by the arms before shoving them back.

"I say those Gargoyles are naught but chiseled stone. And even if they aren't, it's worth the risk for the plunder within. Attack!" Hakon then roared to his Vikings, pulling his sword up in the air. His army then charged as some pushed a siege tower forward to the castle wall. Seeing this Justin got up and jumped off the railing.

"Time to get involved." He muttered before running off to join men down below. The siege tower reached the castle wall and the ramp opened up, allowing the Vikings on it to run into the castle and fight.

Justin was able to reach the castle wall in time to join in the fight, able to make short work of some Vikings that decided to face him, displaying a level of skill that was impressive to see unfold.

Up on the tower with the Gargoyle statues, some of the Vikings, including Hakon threw ropes up with hooks on the end so that they could climb up. As some climbed up, Hakon climbed up a rope that was hooked up to the very top of the tower where two Gargoyle statues were situated. Ones that looked mighty.

Hakon reached the top of the tower right as the sun set and the night arrived. He stared up at the Gargoyle statue above him and saw that cracks were forming until the stone all fell apart to reveal that the Gargoyle wasn't some statue, it was instead a living, breathing creature.

This particular Gargoyle was tall and powerfully built with lavender skin and a long mane of black hair. He only wore a brown leather loincloth with a belt on it.

There were two small horns that were located on brow ridges where eyebrows would be and he had a tail like every other Gargoyle. His wings were dark and he had a medium sized spike on each of his elbows. His hands consisted of four talons, each of which were clawed. His legs and feets weren't human and instead looked like they were of an animal like a cat or a dog, each foot having three arched toes with claws, a fourth toe on the heel like a bird of prey. And his ears are pointed. He opened his eyes, glowing at first until they didn't.

Next to him, the other Gargoyle statue formed cracks until the stone fell apart to show a Gargoyle that looked so much like the other, as a twin. The differences were that he wasn't as powerfully built, had grey skin and brown hair and was shorter than him in height. He too had a brown loincloth and he opened his eyes and jumped off the tower, gliding in the air to join in the fight.

The lavender Gargoyle looked down at Hakon with a threatening look, growling at him as he grabbed the Viking by the wrist and held him up, displaying his great strength and spreading his wings out.

"You are trespassing." He warned Hakon in a deep, baritone voice that would be warm but was now menacing.

All the other Vikings stopped as they watched in fear at all the other Gargoyles in the castle awakening from what is called Stone Sleep, all snarling and growling down at the invaders.

Hakon, not scared enough yet, pulled his sword out with his free hand and swung it at the Gargoyle holding him. The Gargoyle grabbed the blade with his hand, again displaying his strength, but Hakon saw blood trickle out of his hand, which made him realise something. The Gargoyle then growled, his eyes glowing white in fury.

"Fight, men! They are not invincible!" Hakon yelled to the Vikings. With this knowledge, they went back to fighting, yelling as they started to attack all the Gargoyles, who just evaded and glided away from the attacks.

Hakon got a footing and leaned back, making him and the Gargoyle fall off the edge. Hakon managed to grab a hold of the rope while the Gargoyle used the air current to glide.

Justin ran around, fighting any Viking that faced him as all the other Gargoyles glided in, fighting the Vikings as well.

Justin faced a Viking twice his size and as he was busy fighting him, he was unaware of another Viking coming up behind him, deciding to use this opening to his advantage. However, before he could even make a move, he was kicked in the back, launching him face first into the ground.

Justin, having taken down the large Viking, turned and saw the Viking on the ground and looked back up to see a female Gargoyle. She had an hourglass body, muscular arms and visible abs. She had dark blue skin, long dark hair that was tied up in a braid. She only had brow ridges and she's wearing a white tube top with a white loincloth, showing her midriff.

"Thanks." Justin said to her casually.

"You're welcome." She replied in a soft angelic voice before leaping off the ground and glided off to continue the fight.

Elsewhere, the grey Gargoyle glided past a couple of Vikings, knocking them off the castle wall, falling on top of some more Vikings and he then landed on a part of the wall where some more Vikings have taken down some of the men defending the castle. He snarled, getting their attention and they charged at him. The Gargoyle managed to defeat almost all of them with his strength, wings and tail. When the last of them faced him, shaking slightly in fear, he backed off, bumping into a figure's front.

He turned in fear to see a female Gargoyle looking down at him, eyes glowing red. She had teal coloured skin, short, spiky yellow hair, a small horn on each brow ridge and was wearing a one piece brown leotard and loincloth with silver anklets and armbands on.

She growled at him before using her strength to throw the Viking over her shoulder and down on the castle grounds, into a pit of mud.

"Still like throwing things over your shoulder, I see." The grey Gargoyle pointed out in a deep, baritone voice similar to his twin, just not as deep.

"Nothing wrong with showing strength, my love." She retorted, her eyes having stopped glowing.

Up on one of the towers, three Gargoyles were watching the battle unfold.

One of them had red skin, long white hair, two long horns that go backwards and had a beak instead of a human looking face. He wore a dark loincloth.

The one to his right was smaller than other Gargoyles, having olive coloured skin. Also, different from the rest, where their wings are on their backs, his wings were attached to his arms in a web-like structure, similar to a flying squirrel. He was bald, having no hair at all, having a small horn on each side of his forehead and his face had a rounded muzzle, like a simian. He also had large eyes. His loincloth is a similar colour to the red one.

And on the red Gargoyles left was a Gargoyle with aquamarine coloured skin. He too was bald and had a rounded muzzle like the olive Gargoyle. While being muscular, he was overweight, having a pot belly with three horns running down the centre of his head and had fin-like ears. His loincloth was a really dark grey.

"Shall we let our brothers and sisters have all the fun?" Red asked his fellow Gargoyles with an eager grin before jumping off and gliding to join in the action. Olive now started to grin, wanting to join in the battle as well and he looked over at Aqua, who frowned slightly.

"Not afraid, are you?" He asked the larger Gargoyle in a teasing manner.

"Afraid? Me? Huh! Why, all of nature trembles at my passing." Aqua shrugged off, trying to seem fearsome, pulling up his pot belly to make himself look muscular, but his belly fell back into place, sloshing slightly.

"I can see why." Olive joked, poking Aqua's stomach twice before they both jumped off the tower and glided to join the fight.

By a set of stairs on the castle wall, Justin was fighting against a group of Vikings alongside a Gargoyle by his side. This Gargoyle is portly and older than any of the other Gargoyles in the castle. He had tan coloured skin, orange coloured wings and long grey hair and a beard. His most distinguishing feature is that he has a blind left eye, which has a scar over it and is yellow. He has three horns on each side of his forehead. Including his loincloth, he wears a leather jerkin and trousers.

Justin clashed swords with a Viking to their left while the Gargoyle dealt with the one to their right, throwing him back down the steps as Justin kicked the other in the face, falling back down the steps.

One Viking was sneaking up behind them with a wooden mace in his hands and as he was about to strike them, the lavender Gargoyle swooped in and threw him over the edge, making Justin and the Old One turn and see what happened.

"Watch your back, old friend. You too, my son." He advised the two.

"Watch your own." Old One snorted.

"No need for the second reminder, father." Justin rolled his eyes in amusement. The three then fought against some more Vikings, Old One, pushing some back and Justin kicking them while his father threw one Viking into another.

The Captain of the Guard was on the ledge of a tower, standing on top of a Viking's sword and swung his spiked mace at it, snapping the blade off before kicking another Viking over the ledge, screaming as he fell to the ground.

The lavender Gargoyle avoided getting stabbed and then he spun, using his wings to smack some Vikings away as the Captain then joined with him, Justin and the Old One.

"Why, thanks, Goliath." The Captain said to the lavender Gargoyle.

"I could not do otherwise." He replied.

"These rogues no doubt followed that band of refugees we gave shelter to last night." The Captain stated, looking down at the grounds where some fires are lit with citizens surrounding them.

"Cursed invaders." Justin hissed in disgust at how the Vikings used the innocent in some way for their own gain.

The Aqua Gargoyle landed down where the refugees were above some food as a young boy with short blonde hair saw this and made his mother look down at him, wondering what he wanted.

"Hey, look, mother." He pointed at the Gargoyle, making her and the other refugees look at him as he reached for and grabbed a meat drumstick and started eating it until a Viking appeared underneath him, fighting against a knight of the castle. With this, he hit the Viking in the head with the drumstick, knocking him out, which made the young boy grin and he then looked up at the other Gargoyles gliding above them.

Hakon was up on the castle wall, panting heavily as he had fought hard against some of the Gargoyles. His short break was interrupted when he heard a growl to his right. He turned and jumped back a bit as he laid his eyes on a Gargoyle Beast. It resembled a dog with deep blue coloured skin with a light underbelly. It had two fan shaped ears and two small horns above its brows, three spikes down its back and a short tail. It snarled at the Viking with its pure white eyes narrowing at him. It then leaped at him, Hakon stepping out of its way, and crashed on the wall, leaving claw marks on the wall.

Hakon ran towards an archway, leading to some stairs up a tower but stopped upon seeing a figure in the shadows, staring at him with glowing red eyes.

It was a female Gargoyle, whose wings were folding up in front of her like a cloak with membranes that hook together. She unfolded her wings apart to reveal herself fully. She had sky blue skin with long red hair that reached her midriff. She's wearing a white halter top which hangs off her right shoulder and a white loincloth. She's also wearing a gold tiara, a pair of gold earrings, a gold armband on her left arm and a gold anklet on her right ankle.

"Face me, human, if you dare." She challenged him, baring her fangs at him. Hakon gasped in fear before he turned around only to get face to face with the end of a sword pointing at him. The person holding the sword was Justin as he stood next to the Gargoyle Beast.

"Not so fast, Viking." He spat at him right before Goliath landed in front of Hakon.

"I see you've met our watchdog." He said before the female Gargoyle hissed at Hakon. Goliath then stepped forward.

"And both my second in command and our son as well. I grow tired of this. Take what's left of your men." He then told Hakon before he grabbed him and threw him off the wall.

"And be gone!" He shouted as Hakon fell and landed in a bail of hay, which broke upon impact. Hakon stood up and looked up at Goliath.

"This isn't over, monster! I'll be back!" Hakon warned the Gargoyle before he ran off. Goliath then looked to the female Gargoyle, whose eyes now stopped glowing, and their son, and the three smiled in victory.

The red Gargoyle was gliding as he held two Vikings by their belts and threw them into some wet mud outside the castle as the Vikings that remained all ran for their lives in defeat as the castle's archers fired down upon them.

"Good work! Our arrows made them run!"

"They'll think twice before coming back."

While the archers and knights celebrated their victory, all of the Gargoyles, Justin and the Captain all gathered on a tower watching over them. The second in command wrapped a bandage around Goliath's left hand where he got cut from Hakon's sword.

"Goliath, we owe you our lives." The Captain thanked the leader of the Gargoyles.

"As we owe you ours everyday." Goliath replied, flexing his bandaged hand. He then placed his hand on Justin's shoulder.

"And I'm so proud of you, my son. You have shown both great courage and skill tonight." He praised him.

"Indeed, Justin. You would prove to be a mighty Gargoyle." The second in command added. These words from his adopted parents made Justin smile and shed tears of pride.

"Thank you, mother, father." He said before he hugged them both tightly and they hugged back, wrapping their wings around him. The dark blue skinned female Gargoyle, Goliath's twin and his mate all saw this and they smiled. The female because she and Justin have a tight bond that is beyond best friends. Goliath's twin and his mate because they cared so much for Justin.

With the victory against the Vikings, celebrations were being held in the Great Hall where a feast was being held with pipe and drum music being played.

There were three tables. Two of them were on either side of the hall where the knights and important figures sat, including a man in robes with long white hair called the Magus, who took a sip of wine from a silver chalice.

The third table was on one end of the hall, facing the large doors that led out of the Great Hall. There was only one person that sat on the table. The ruler of Castle Wyvern, Princess Katharine. She had long brown hair and a simple tiara with a regal dress on.

"I don't mind telling you, I thought we were under the sword there for a while." A knight drinking wine said to the knight next to him, who was eating a drumstick.

"Aye. A fine soldier is our Captain of the Guard." The knight replied.

"Ha. Captain of the Gargoyles, you mean." The other knight remarked, not knowing that the Captain was right behind them, stopping to listen to what they're saying.

"He'd fit right well on the cornices with them and that boy. It's a fact." The two then laughed, practically mocking the Gargoyles, Justin and the Captain. He himself held in his anger and continued on to his seat, which was at the end of the table, closest to Princess Katharine.

"Our thanks for a battle well fought, good Captain." She addressed him.

"The credit is not mine to take, Your Highness. Without Goliath, his son and his Gargoyles, our defense would have proven useless." He replied to him, catching the attention of the Magus. Katharine frowned upon mention of the Gargoyles and Justin.

"Please, don't mention that monster's name in my presence." She told him.

The doors to the hall then opened up, silencing the music and chatter because standing in the archway was Goliath, his second in command, who was his mate, and Justin. Their appearance shook up everyone there, especially Katharine and the Magus.

"Beg your pardon, Your Highness. I took the liberty of asking them to appear and be recognised for their bravery." The Captain explained, which just annoyed the princess so much that she stood on her feet, frowning at him.

"Captain, we are most seriously displeased to allow beasts in the dining hall!" She told him, festering a hatred towards Gargoyles ever since she was a child.

"You speak wisely, Princess. These are unnatural creatures. No good can come from associating with them. The boy is proof of this." The Magus agreed with her, making Justin glare hard at him.

Goliath, his mate and their son then walked up to the Princess, she herself expressing a look of fear that Goliath might strike her for insulting him. He then spread his wings out, making her fall back on her seat. Then to her surprise, the lavender Gargoyle bowed, folding his wings like a cloak in respect.

"Goliath, we named you well, it seems. You are as good as the Philistine Giant who fought David." The Captain chuckled, placing a hand on Goliath's shoulder.

"You would do well to remember, Captain, that the biblical Goliath was also a bully and a savage." The Princess pointed out, standing back up. This made the Captain and Goliath frown at her disrespect and Justin clenched his shaking fists, thin lipped, trying to prevent himself from saying or doing something that would get him in trouble. His mother ended up growling at Katharine, eyes glowing red, which made Katharine gasp.

Goliath placed his hand on his mate's shoulder, snapping her out from her display of anger with her eyes back to normal.

"If you will excuse us, Your Highness." He said before he, his mate and their son walked back out of the hall, wings unfolded.

"In the future, Captain, you will make your reports to my advisor, the Magus, not directly to me!" Katharine snapped at the Captain, making him look at the white haired man, who had a cocky smirk on his face. The Captain was so fed up that he stormed out of the hall, catching up with the family trio.

"My apologies for this, Goliath." He said as they all walked down a candle lit hallway.

"No apologies needed. We are what we are. Her opinion will not change that." Goliath replied, speaking as a leader with the maturity of someone in their elder years.

"Have you no pride? No sense of justice? We saved them and they repay us with contempt? Even mocking our son." His mate reminded him with an argument.

"Mother's right. We deserve much more than this after protecting them night after night. They just treat you like mindless beasts." Justin sided with his mother. He grew up being raised by Gargoyles his entire life, being more familiar with their culture and customs and because of this, he's more comfortable with them and not his own kind.

"Goliath, they're both right, you really deserve better than this." The Captain agreed with them.

"These cliffs were our home ages before they built their stone fortress. They should respect us. Even bow to us." She then further argued before Goliath held her hand with both of his.

"It is the nature of humankind to fear what they do not understand. Their ways are not our ways." He explained in a calming manner, which made his mate sigh.

"There are times when your patience astounds me, my love." She grins in amazement, making their son roll his eyes at their display of affection, though it warms his heart when his parents share a tender moment. Eventually, they left the halls and exited to the outside of the castle to get to their ledges as the sun rose, turning them and the other Gargoyles to stone. Justin then went to his chamber in the castle and went to sleep.

In a laboratory with a steaming cauldron in the centre of the chamber, the Magus was standing over a bookstand where an ancient book is placed. He opened it up and looked through the pages to find something in its pages.

Under the early morning daylight, a hooded figure was riding a horse from the castle, heading to the mountains.

In the mountains themselves were the Vikings that made camp to recover from their defeat. The hooded figure arrived so that they could talk to Hakon, who resided in a cave, eating food.

"You seek the fall of Castle Wyvern." The figure said to the Viking.

"What of it?" Hakon questioned.

"Perhaps a bargain can be made." The figure suggested, getting Hakon's full attention. So much so that he threw the food he was eating to some dogs who were in the cave with them.

"I'm listening."

Nighttime had arrived at Castle Wyvern and Goliath was up on a tower with his mate, his twin and his mate and the Captain. He also pulled the bandage off his hand to see that his wound had healed, which was because of the Stone Sleep.

"Those Vikings may return at daybreak, Goliath. I say, take all your Gargoyles and your son and make sure they're gone." The Captain said.

"I agree." Goliath's mate nodded.

"Same here. We can go out in force and put an end to those pigs once and for all." The other female Gargoyle added, making Goliath and his twin look at their mates with frowns.

"I believe it's too dangerous for all of us to go after them." The grey skinned Gargoyle argued.

"Indeed. I don't want to leave the castle unprotected." Goliath nodded to his twin.

"Their leader swore he'd be back. It's best to harry them far away now and not take that chance." The Captain argued. All of this made Goliath growl as he thought about his words and after getting a reassuring nod from his Rookery Brother, he sighed.

"Very well. But I shall do it. I can scare those cowards away without any help." He told everyone. This made his mate a bit concerned.

"That's too dangerous for you. Let me come along at least." She begged.

"You and the others will stay with the castle. You are my best warrior. I leave you in command." He told her.

"No! I cannot let you." She still argued against it.

"I won't go alone. Remember… you and I are one. Now and forever. And besides, one of us should stay to keep an eye on our son." Goliath assured her, turning to his twin as he would join Goliath, which was noticed by the other female Gargoyle.

"You're joining him, aren't you?" She asked her mate, walking up to him and placing her hands on his chest.

"Yes. Have to make sure my brother doesn't get into trouble." He told her as he stroked her hair, which was a display of affection for Gargoyles.

Down by the refugee camp, a bonfire was lit by one of the castle walls where the red, aqua, olive and dark blue female Gargoyles were with Justin and the Gargoyle Beast. The Aqua Gargoyle sat and constantly ate food. Justin sat in front of the fire with the female Gargoyle sitting next to him with her right wing wrapped around him.

Both the olive and red Gargoyles were playing a game with the Gargoyle Beast, throwing a slab of meat back and forth with the Beast in between them trying to catch the meat.

"Here, catch." Olive said as he threw the meat in the air, the Beast narrowly missed it as it lept in the air.

"Back this way!" Red remarked as he caught the meat and then threw it back to Olive, who ran with the meat, getting chased by the Beast, This amused Justin and the female Gargoyle.

"Will they ever grow up?" Justin asked, shaking his head with a grin.

"Probably never. They've been like hatchlings for a long time." She joked, making Justin chuckle. Growing up, he had a strong bond with these three and treated them like brothers. He immediately clicked with the female Gargoyle and they've had this bond ever since.

Justin felt eyes looking down at him, so he looked up and saw his mother watching over them. With a smile, he waved at his mother and she waved back.

As the olive Gargoyle was playing around with the Beast, the young boy watched and was interested enough that he jogged over to them as the red Gargoyle climbed up on a crate and caught the slab of meat and then threw it with the Beast catching it with its jaw and landed on the ground, finishing the game they were playing. Both the red and olive Gargoyles noticed the boy, as well as Justin and the female Gargoyle.

Above, Justin's mother focused on the boy, wondering what he wanted.

"I'm Tom. What's your name?" The boy asked the Gargoyles. Both Red and Olive looked at each other with a smirk and both Justin and Blue looked at each other.

"Except for Goliath and Justin, we don't have names." Olive explained, which confused Tom.

"How do you tell each other apart?" He asked.

"We look different." Olive answered, Red nodding to back up his answer.

"But what do you call each other?" Tom asked another question.

"Friend." Red told him.

"Or in my case, I call them by their colours." Justin added as he knew it would be easier to do that instead of just saying friend.

Tom's mother then stormed up behind her child with a wooden stick in her hand and pushed him behind her.

"Tom! Get away from us, monsters!" She screeched at the Gargoyles, thinking they're about to hurt her son.

"But mother…." Tom tried to tell her that they weren't doing anything.

"Ma'am, they would never hurt the young lad." Justin tried to reason with her, standing up and walking up to her.

"Keep away from him, you traitor!" The woman shouted at him before throwing the stick right at his face, hitting him so hard on his nose that he was bleeding as he fell to the floor in pain.

"JUSTIN!" Blue shouted in concern, kneeling next to him. Justin's mother was enraged and so she glided down and landed in front of Justin, facing Tom's mother with a hiss.

"How dare you hurt my son! You're the beast, you-" She snarled, her eyes starting to glow but then Red stepped forward in front of her. Blue then looked over at the humans with a look of anger.

"No, if they think we're beasts and monsters…." He started off as Olive stood next to him.

"Then perhaps we'd better live up to the name." He added as Blue joined them.

"And show them not to hurt one of our own." She finished off with a snarl as their eyes started to glow and they started growling at the refugees, the Gargoyle Beast joining in.

Justin leaned against a crate, holding his nose and looked in horror as his clan members were scaring the humans, all because he got hurt.

Aqua heard the screaming and growling and looked around in confusion.

"Huh? What is it? Are we being attacked again?" He asked.

When the refugees ran far enough, the Old One, Goliath, his twin and his mate landed in front of the other Gargoyles, who all had looks of horror on their faces as they realised what they've done. And what made it worse was the truly furious looks on both Goliath and his twin, who both saw Justin and his new injury, which added to their fury.

"You four! Down to the Rookery until I return! I'll deal with you then!" Goliath ordered them. This was the first time Justin was ever scared of his father and his twin, who he viewed as his uncle. It actually made him shed a few tears.

"And take him with you!" Goliath then said, pointing to the Gargoyle Beast, which made a soft growl.

Goliath's mate went and pulled her son up on his feet as they followed Goliath and the other Gargoyles, excluding the Old One, Grey and Teal down to the Rookery.

Olive pushed the creaking doors open to the Rookery before and the other Gargoyles who were punished looked back at Goliath.

"We meant no harm." Blue tried to explain to their leader, who wasn't swayed, eyes hardened and arms crossed. Seeing that nothing would work, they all entered the Rookery in shame of themselves and the doors closed once they entered.

"Are you blind? They were not at fault. The humans were. They even harmed our son, calling him a traitor to them." Goliath's mate scolded him as she held their son in her arms, his injury now having stopped bleeding and cleaned up.

"No matter who was at fault, I cannot condone fighting between their people and ours. And while our son was born a human, he was raised as a Gargoyle, following our ways, not theirs I will make it up to them later. Now I have business to attend to." Goliath stood firm before he walked off to go and deal with the Vikings.

She then looked at Justin, who now started to break down and cry.

"Oh, my boy." She softly whispered as she hugged him with as much maternal affection as possible, wings wrapping around him and stroking his hair as he sobbed into her shoulder.

"Why do I have to be a human?" He asked her, feeling more close to his clan than his own kind. His mother didn't really know how to answer him and just focused on comforting him as much as possible.

"I don't know how to answer that, son. But I will always love you regardless of what you are." She told him, pulling back a bit to make him look at her directly. He sniffled as he nodded, soaking in her words.

"Why don't you stay with the others in the Rookery?" She then asked him and he nodded, wiping his tears away. She kissed her son on the forehead before spreading her wings open for Justin to part from her and he entered the Rookery.

Goliath, the Old One and Grey glided through the sky, searching for where the Vikings went. The three have been searching for a few hours now until Goliath spotted something to their left.

"There!" He told the other two and they descended to the edge of a forest where some tracks are present. Upon landing on the ground, they inspected the tracks and saw that they were hoof prints.

"It's them, right enough. But the tracks are very light for horses carrying armoured men." Old One pointed out.

"That doesn't seem right." Grey muttered in thought.

"They're not far ahead. Come!" Goliath said before the trio got on all fours and ran into the forest, following the tracks.

Back at Castle Wyvern, in the Rookery, the red, olive, aqua and blue Gargoyles, the Gargoyle Beast and Justin were by where the large number of eggs were located. Justin sat by himself, hugging his legs.

"Sent to the Rookery. How embarrassing!" Red groaned as Olive looked at all the eggs, which were soft shelled and had purple spots all over them.

"I haven't been down here since I hatched." Aqua confessed, looking around until he spotted some kind of glowing green mass of some kind on the rock. He grabbed a glob of it and sniffed it. Finding it good enough, he dropped it into his mouth and started chewing it, eyes closed and wiping his hands. Olive was downright disgusted that his jaw dropped and his eyes widened.

"I hope we're not down here long. He might eat us." He said.

Blue looked over to Justin, growing concerned for her friend and so she and the Beast walked over to him and they sat on either side of him. The Beast softly growled as it nuzzled against Justin's right leg and Blue wrapped an arm around him.

"Justin?" She said, wanting to know what's wrong.

"I wish I was a Gargoyle. I hate to deal with other humans." He said, a blank voice, holding in his emotions. Blue understood his wish too well. Despite loving being a part of the clan and having parents, his biggest insecurity is that he's a human in a Gargoyle group. And it would at least make his insecurity not as significant if he were a Gargoyle.

Back with Goliath, the Old One and Grey, they're now gliding through the trees as they follow the tracks, but something was approaching that could hinder their search.

"Goliath, sunrise is approaching quickly." Grey pointed out.

"He's right, lad. Perhaps we should return." The Old One agreed but their leader saw something and ignored their words.

"There they are!" He pointed down on the forest road and they saw figures making their way down the road. They descended down and as they got closer, they saw a few Vikings pulling horses, which whinnied in fright and the Vikings ran for their lives. The Gargoyle trio then landed on their feet as the horses went crazy and it was then that they realised something.

"They were leading the horses to decoy us from the castle." Goliath said and the three ran on all fours back out of the forest in time to see the sun rising from the horizon.

"We're too late!" The Old One stated in concern right before the sunlight touched them and a stone shell formed, consuming them into a Stone Sleep, which just might have saved them from what would shortly happen.

When nighttime came around and their Stone Sleep was over, they instantly got in the air, gliding back to the castle, hoping they weren't too late but once the castle was in their sight, their worst fears were true.

"No." Goliath whispered in shock. They got closer to the castle, which was burning bright from fires, a clear sign that it was sieged and invaded.

They searched to see destruction, large fires, weapons left all over the place but the worst of it all were all the piles of rubble from the perches where the Gargoyles should be. They were all killed.

Upon seeing this, both Goliath and Grey glided right to the perches where their mates are supposed to be and what they found were piles of rubble. This left them both so heartbroken as the loves of their lives were taken from them, and for Goliath, it wasn't just that, he's also lost the mother of their son, which he didn't know yet what happened to him.

Grey got on his knees, eyes tearing up as he grabbed pieces of the rubble of his mate, clutching it against his chest.

Goliath, too, was on his knees, but he just shook with heartache, grabbing some rubble.

"My… Angel of the Night." He said with emotion. The two Gargoyles just couldn't hold it in anymore and so they both roared at the top of their lungs, Grey being the loudest in anguish of their losses.

Down below on the castle grounds, the Old One picked up a bow and examined it in the firelight to see that the string was cut.

"These bowstrings have been cut. There was betrayal here." He concluded, a hardened expression overcoming his face.

The doors to the Rookery opened and the Gargoyles and Justin that were in there looked out and were all devastated to see what had happened to the castle.

"What happened?" Justin asked yet no one answered. Goliath and Grey then landed down in front of them all.

"Were any more down in the Rookery?" He asked them all, sounding devastated, which Justin picked up on.

"None. Only us." Aqua told him.

"Father… where's mother?" Justin asked, needing to know what happened. He got his answer when his father closed his eyes, head hanging and tears went down his cheeks.

"No…. I-It can't be…. Mother…. N-No…." He broke down on the spot, sobbing the hardest he ever had, hugging his father tightly, which was reciprocated as they mourn their loss.

The sight and sounds of him sobbing broke everyone watching, especially Blue and Grey. Family was the most important thing to Justin and so to lose his mother, who he had a tight connection with, was just too much.

"You're not the only one to lose someone." Grey revealed to everyone, which added to Justin's heartache as his sobbing got louder and Blue gasped with her hands covering her mouth.

"All the humans are gone. Taken prisoner most likely." The Old One revealed to everyone as Goliath and Justin parted, the latter wiping his tears away. This knowledge sparked a fire in everyone, knowing what they need to do.

"Then we will find them. We will save the humans. And we will have our revenge!" Goliath declared, eyes glowing white, as well as Grey. Justin gripped his sword tightly as he ended up growling, holding onto his father as all the Gargoyles leaped into the air, gliding to where the Vikings went, the Beast following them on the ground since it can't fly.

After flying for several minutes, Justin saw a light somewhere in the mountains.

"There they are." He hissed, pointing in the direction and so his father and the other Gargoyles turned and flew towards the light and Goliath roared at the top of his lungs, warning the Vikings in advance that they're coming, and for revenge.

Once they reached the camp, they all descended to the Vikings, who all ran in fear upon seeing them up in the moonlit sky. Justin pulled his sword out and as Goliah got close enough to the ground and swiped a couple of Vikings into barrels of wine, Justin jumped off and charged at some Vikings, attacking them with a fiery rage. Goliath looked ahead and saw Hakon, Princess Katharine and the Captain of the Guard running towards a cliff and so he pursued them.

The Old One landed in the camp and grabbed a Viking that charged at him and threw him into a bail of hay, which broke apart.

He then kicked another Viking with his strong legs, grabbing his sword as he did so.

Aqua grabbed the pig that the Vikings were cooking with a fire and then he dodged a swing of a sword before swinging the pig at the Viking, throwing them back.

Grey attacked a significant number of Vikings, not holding back, giving them brutal attacks with his fists, kicks and swipes with his tail, snarling at them, eyes glowing the brightest white.

Two Vikings were running, looking over their shoulders but stopped when they saw the Gargoyle Beast in front of them, snarling, making them scream and run away, the Beast chasing after them.

Blue spun in the air, swiping her tail at a Viking, knocking him into a rock face and then she grabbed two others with ease and lifted them up in the air, gliding over to the fire and dropped them onto the fire, making them catch on fire, which started burning them as they tried to extinguish the fire on their cloaks.

Both Red and Olive lifted a Viking above them and threw them towards other Vikings that were running away for their lives, one of them ran away from Justin, who spared him after he unleashed fury on the Vikings.

Tom saw this and smiled, seeing that they were saved.

"I told you they'd save us." He told his mother, who now actually admired the Gargoyles and Justin, who she now felt guilty for hurting.

Up at a cave, the Magus walked out with a book in his arm and he looked furious upon seeing Justin and the Gargoyles.

"You fools! She'd be alive now if you hadn't come!" He shouted at them, confusing them all as they frowned at him.

"What's he talking about?" Olive asked.

"They would have ransomed us both! But you invaded their camp and now-" The Magus continued his anger, opening up the book and looking for a certain page.

"What's all this? Where's the Princess?" The Old One questioned,

"Dead. And could I but wield a sword, I would send you all to join her. But this will have to do instead." The Magus snarled as he found the page he was looking for.

"Dormiatis dum castellum super nubes ascendat!" He then chanted an incantation, which formed a swirl of wind and lights around the Gargoyles before a bright light blinded everyone, especially Justin.

Once the light dimmed, Justin opened his eyes and he was shocked to see all the Gargoyles were now in their stone form, clearly cursed in a form of Stone Sleep. His shock then formed in anger as he curled his shaking fists, glaring at the Magus.

"YOU BASTARD!" He roared.

"Don't think you're out of this, child!" The Magus snapped at him as he turned a few pages and found a particular spell.

"Maledictus ambulabit in terra in aesternum et non in saeculum!" He chanted another incantation, which caused a green energy to swirl around Justin and he floated off the ground before another bright light blinded everyone there.

Princess Katharine ran towards the edge of a cliff and at the last second got grabbed by Hakon by the edge alongside the Captain.

The three then saw Goliath above them in the air, eyes glowing and he landed in front of them, snarling, especially upon seeing the Captain, now knowing what he did.

"You are the betrayer?!" He questioned, feeling like he was stabbed in the back as the Captain was his close ally, someone who respected the Gargoyles.

"It was not supposed to be this way." The Captain tried to explain.

"All of my kind are dead. And now, you too will join them!" Goliath growled, brandishing his talons,

"I told you to take the other Gargoyles and your son with you. If you'd only listen." The Captain tried to reason with him.

"Untie her!" Goliath growled, sounding more animalistic.

"He's the one you want. He shattered them!" Hakon pointed a dagger at the Captain, trying to seem like he didn't do anything.

"YOU LYING SCUM!" The Captain bellowed out, launching himself at the Viking, making him toss Katharine to the edge, which cracked apart and all three of them fell over the edge but Goliath, letting his rage go, eyes back to normal, was quick enough to reach for Katharine and catch her by the rope as Hakon and the Captain fell, screaming to their deaths.

Goliath lifted Katharine back up and ripped the rope off of her and then looked down at the chasm below, feeling unsatisfied and empty.

"I've been denied everything! EVEN MY REVENGE!" He then roared at the top of his lungs, wings fully spread out before closing his stood by him, feeling self guilt and pity for the Gargoyle.

"Goliath, I…."

"Goliath, you've got to help your friends and your son." Tom suddenly called out as he ran to the pair.

He led them back to find the remaining Gargoyles left as statues, which shocked Goliath and he needed to know what happened.

"Stone? At night? What sorcery is this?!" He questioned with a growl to his voice.

"Sorcery indeed!" The Magus spat from behind him, making the Gargoyle turn.

"And now you shall join them!" He then declared but then he saw Katharine appear from behind Goliath, which made him stop what he was about to do and be surprised.

"Princess…." He whispered as she walked up to the statues.

"Oh, Magus, what have you done?" She questioned him. Those words made the Magus drop the book, which opened up to a torn page and he then fell to his knees in pure guilt.

"I… I thought you were dead, Your Highness. I was mad with grief." He confessed, making Goliath's anger grow.

"Reverse the spell. Bring them back!" He demanded, lifting the Magus up and bellowing right into his face.

"I… I cannot! The page with the counter spell was burned!" He explained, making Goliath drop him on top of the book, feeling like he was defeated in looking after his clan. But as he looked at his fellow Gargoyles, he realised that Justin was nowhere to be seen.

"My son. Where is my son?!" He asked. His answer was his son appearing around the rock the Gargoyles were on and he looked furious at the Magus, storming right up to him and punching him right in the face before pulling him right up to his face.

"What did you do to me?!" He demanded an answer.

"I… I… I cursed you with immortality. You're… to walk the Earth forever. I'm so sorry." The Magus revealed with a heavy heart. Justin looked like his soul was ripped out of his body as he dropped the Magus and walked over to Goliath, leaning his head against his chest and sniffling.

"You turned them to stone forever?" Katharine asked the Magus, feeling sorry for Justin and Goliath.

"The terms of the spell were that they would sleep until the castle rises above the clouds." He explained.

With the events that have happened, they travelled back to the castle and there, Goliath placed his fellow Gargoyles on their perches on the tower they're from, lastly placing the Old One in his place.

"We've done you a great wrong, Goliath." Katharine apologized, expressing her guilt for her disdain towards his kind and his son.

"I know that no apology can be enough, Goliath. I wish there was something I could do." The Magus also apologized.

"What will you do now, Princess?" The lavender Gargoyle asked, looking over his shoulder.

"I'll take my people to my uncle. It's no longer safe for us here." She explained. Goliath nodded before looking over to Justin, who was staring at the female Gargoyle, a tear trickling down his cheek.

"And you, my son?" He asked. Justin sniffled and wiped his tear away before facing his father.

"I'm going to use my immortality to help and protect others when needed, a vow I will uphold as a member of the clan." He stated, knowing that he may as well use his latest development as best as he can. Goliath nodded, knowing that his son would keep his word.

"I have a request." Goliath then said, folding his wings.

"You have but to name it." Katharine replied.

"The eggs in the Rookery will soon hatch. They will need guidance." He requested from her.

"Never fear. We will watch over them as if they were our own." She promised, which Goliath nodded to. He then looked to the Magus.

"There is something… you can do for me, Magus. Cast your spell one more time." He said, shocking everyone there, especially Justin, as it would mean that he would be alone.

When they made their way to the top of the tower, where Goliath's perch was, both father and son faced each other, Justin crying as he's about to part ways.

"I will miss you, father." He said as he hugged him.

"My son, this isn't a goodbye. We will see each other again. I promise." Goliath assured him as they parted and he wiped Justin's tears with his talon.

Justin packed up his belongings, including his sword and walked out of the castle gates. He then stopped and looked back up at the castle, in particular the tower where the remaining Gargoyles are and he looked at his father's stone form. His face spoke volumes of his sadness.

"Farewell, father." He whispered before he continued on, not knowing what the future would throw at him.

1993

Nearly a thousand years have passed and Castle Wyvern was in ruins, overgrown from nature, decayed and forgotten.

Looking up at the castle was a man wearing a coat and gloves. He was in his late thirties, long brown hair tied in a ponytail and had facial hair, which helped make him be considered good looking. He is billionaire, David Xanatos.

"At last, Castle Wyvern." He said as his eyes were focusing on the tower where the Gargoyles were, especially at Goliath, whose statue was covered in greenery.

Xanatos ran his way through the ruined castle and up the tower where he got an up close look at Goliath and Grey, pulling leaves and branches off of Goliath, showing his face.

"Magnificent. Make the offer now, Owen. This instant." He requested from the man walking up behind him. The man had short blonde hair and he wore glasses.

"May I say one last time, Mr. Xanatos, that the costs of this venture will be astronomical." He reminded him as he pulled out a phone.

"Start hiring crews. I want to begin as soon as possible." Xanatos told him, not really caring what he was informed of.

"It may prove difficult to find the necessary manpower. This castle has a bad reputation. The locals consider it haunted." Owen pointed out as he started making a call.

"You know the answer to that, Owen. Pay a man enough and he'll walk barefoot into hell."

With this, the lengthy process started of pulling apart the castle, cleaning it up and crating it up, including the Gargoyles to move it all to a more suitable location across the Atlantic, away from Scotland.

New York City, 1994, September 29th

Sitting at a bar, all by himself, Justin was drinking as a thousand years have passed since he became immortal and was separated from the last of his clan.

His appearance was different from what it was a thousand years ago. He still had the grey hair, but now it was much shorter than it was and he started growing a stubble. He's wearing a black leather jacket and a grey shirt with a necklace around his neck of a Celtic knot with a gem on it.

True to his word, he has helped and protected mankind throughout the centuries and around the world, fighting in many of the famous battles and wars throughout history. However, he was careful enough to change up his appearance every once in a while so that people would think he was a different person and would also change his identity to further hide who he really was. He currently has the identity of Justin Forge and works as a private detective.

Naturally, he learned and gained all kinds of combat experience and training from around the world, which makes him one of the most deadly men on the planet. And due to his immortality, he was able to gain money and riches throughout the centuries, which made him secretly the wealthiest man on the planet, having more than trillions of worth, though he doesn't make it known.

Despite the wealth, he currently lives in a renovated clock tower, which he bought, as well as the public library that is connected to it above the 23rd Precinct of the NYPD.

As he lived his life, Justin never went back to Castle Wyvern. It would make his heartache be too much to see his family in their stone forms. And his time throughout the centuries made him realise that he's in love with Blue and he may never be mates with her.

"I was wondering where you were." He heard a female voice say to his right. He turned to see a woman, aged 26, long dark blue hair and brown eyes of Native American and African descent, wearing a red jacket and black shirt.

"Hey, Elisa." He greeted her, now with an American accent, sounding depressed and looked back forward and took another sip of his drink. Elisa Maza, a police detective, seemed a bit concerned to see him like this as she had never seen him like this since they've been friends for several years now.

"What's wrong?" She asked him, sitting next to him and gesturing to a bartender for a beer.

"It's the anniversary of being separated from my family. Brings back painful memories." Justin explained. He never got into detail of his family, knowing that Elisa wouldn't believe him and think he's crazy.

"Oh. I'm sorry. You really miss them don't you?" She asked as she got her beer and paid for it.

"Yeah. They mean everything to me and I still miss them." He nodded, touching his necklace, which was a visual clue to his Scottish roots, which Elisa knew of.

"Hey… as long as you keep their memories going, they'll still be with you. They wouldn't want you to wallow in your sadness, they'd want you to live your life." She told him, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. Hearing those words made Justin realise something for the first time in a thousand years. That he shouldn't stick to the past and instead just keep moving through the future, honouring his family and the Gargoyle he loves. And his father did promise that they'll meet each other again.

"You're right. Thanks, Elisa. You're the best friend I could ever ask for." Justin smiled, holding her hand and giving it an appreciative squeeze. She smiled back, seeing that she made her friend feel better.

"No problem. I've been meaning to ask if you'll come over to my place for dinner tomorrow." She said as they clinked their drinks.

"Sure. I'll just tell Diana and Athena that I'll be at your place." He shrugged, referring to two others he lives with at the clock tower.

"I still don't understand how and why you want to live in the clock tower." Elisa shook her head in disbelief.

"Hey, I like it, okay? It reminds me of my old home in Scotland." Justin backed up his choice to live there.

"Speaking of Scotland, have you read that David Xanatos has been busy with relocating an old castle in Scotland to the Eyrie Building?" Elisa asked before she took a sip of her beer. This was the first he has heard of this as he doesn't read the newspapers, thinking that they just twist things around and aren't entirely truthful.

"This is news to me. Why someone like Xanatos would do that, I have no clue. I just don't trust him." He replied. The two friends then continued their chat as they had their drinks before they left to do their jobs.

October 4th

David Xanatos was in his private helicopter, which flew towards the Eyrie Building, the tallest skyscraper in New York City. It was so tall that it reached above the clouds. Once having flown through the clouds, the helicopter approached the top of the skyscraper, where Castle Wyvern was fully relocated and renovated.

Xanatos then exited the helicopter after it landed and walked up the tower where the Gargoyles were located, watching the sun as it was setting in the horizon, waiting to see if the Gargoyles do awaken from their cursed Stone Sleep.

"Don't disappoint me." He said, looking at the statue of Goliath as the sun finally set and night had arrived. Suddenly a storm formed above the castle and when lightning and thunder struck, rain started falling.

Cracks started to form on Goliath's statue until his stone shell splintered off and his lavender form appeared, eyes opened and shining white. Xanatos gasped as Golaith spread open his wings and roared at the top of his lungs, finally free from his Stone Sleep.

And then all the other Gargoyles awoke from their sleep, roaring as they did so.

"Yes!" Xanatos grinned, glad to see that he had accomplished waking them up.

Goliath and Grey, unaware of him, jumped down and saw their fellow clan members were awake as the rain and the storm stopped.

"You're awake! You're alive! We're together again." Goliath grinned, hands on Grey and the Old One. Olive grinned as he hugged the Gargoyle Beast but the only one that didn't share this celebration was Blue as she looked and noticed a certain absence.

"Where's Justin?" She asked, stopping the celebration instantly and everyone looked to Goliath, who looked saddened.

"The Magus had cursed him with immortality. He swore to help and protect mankind, meaning he could be anywhere by now." He revealed to everyone, making them gasp at this revelation. Blue now felt gutted upon knowing that the one she was closest to is somewhere in the world, more than likely not knowing that she and the clan are awake.

As she soaked this in, she looked out and gasped upon seeing the New York skyline as the clouds parted. This made everyone else turn and they too saw what she saw and they too all gasped upon seeing what to them was a whole new world.

The Beast picked up a scent and growled towards an archway. Goliath saw and turned to see Xanatos walk out from the archway.

"You are the one called Goliath?" He asked him.

"Yes." He answered, though hesitantly.

"Excellent." Xanatos grinned.

He led all of them into the Great Hall, which has been heavily renovated to be more like the main foyer as elevators were on the left of the hall. Xanatos was facing the large burning fireplace.

"How long has it been?" Goliath asked the billionaire.

"This may be a shock. A thousand years have gone by since the spell was cast." Xanatos revealed to them, which shocked all the Gargoyles so much that their jaws dropped.

"I learned about the castle and you eight from an ancient book that recently came into my possession." He then said, pointing towards a book that was placed on a glass covered bookstand.

"The Magus who cursed you wrote the whole story down in there. Now, I'm sure you have questions." Xanatos finished off, walking to the desk that was in front of the fireplace.

"How did you break the spell?" The Old One asked, wanting to know he was able to wake them up.

"It was designed to end when the castle rose above the clouds." Xanatos told him as he leaned against the desk.

"Do you know where Justin is?" Blue asked immediately, desperate to know where he was.

"*sighs* No, unfortunately. He hid himself so well that even I couldn't find him with my resources." Xanatos answered her, making her sigh sadly, which made Grey place a comforting hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry, we'll find him." He assured her as best as possible.

"The eggs in the Rookery?" Olive asked, needing to know what happened to them.

"Gone, I'm afraid. You are the last of your kind." Xanatos gave them all the gravest of news, which left them devastated.

"Why have you done all of this? You could have just left us in our stone forms." Grey questioned.

"I was fascinated by the Magus' story, I wanted to see if it was true. And now that I know it is, I want to be your friend. There's much we can do for each other, Goliath." Xanatos explained, walking up to the lavender Gargoyle and placed a hand on his left shoulder. However, the betrayal of the Captain of the Guard still affected Goliath and he had to question Xanatos further.

"Such as?"

"Well-" Xanatos was about to explain when the sound of a helicopter approaching was heard, which surprised the billionaire.

"I'm not expecting anyone. You'll be safer if you stay here." He told all the Gargoyles as he walked out to see what's going on. Of course, they didn't listen as they followed him out.

Out on the castle grounds, Xanatos watched as a helicopter rose up from the other side of the castle wall and a light had beamed down at him and then it turned so that some armed mercenaries slid down rope onto the castle wall.

"Secure the area." The leader ordered the rest and they all ran in all directions before they all surrounded Xanatos, guns aimed at him.

"What do you want?" He asked the leader of these mercenaries.

"You'll know, soon enough." The leader sneered. The Gargoyles stayed in the shadows, watching this all unfold.

"What's going on? Who are these people?" Red asked, confused with the mercenaries attire and weapons.

"They're attacking the castle! That's all we need to know!" The Old One snarled and so he and every other Gargoyle roared, eyes glowing white, or red in Blue's case, and they ran out, charging at the mercenaries head on. A few of them fired a couple of shots but missed as Goliath landed in between them.

One of them fired at the lavender Gargoyle, though he narrowly missed Goliath, who got on all fours, charged at the mercenary and swiped his tail at him, making the mercenary get swept off his feet but he rolled away from him and then charged at Goliath with no fear and tackled him, throwing him onto his back, though Goliath got back on his feet.

Xanatos then ran up to the mercenary, disarmed him and threw him over his shoulder, though the mercenary got back on his feet again. Xanatos tried to reach for the gun but another one of the mercenaries stepped in front of him.

Aqua approached him, growling and they were at a stare down, leaving Xanatos a chance to run off and do something else.

"Nice mask." The mercenary remarked, thinking that Aqua was some dude in a costume, though that really ain't the case. He then pulled a knife out and swung it in front of Aqua, who jumped back and ended up on his back. The mercenary then charged at him but Aqua kicked him over himself and the mercenary was able to flip into a soft landing on his knees.

The Old One was wielding his sword and charged at another mercenary who was up against a wall, who fired a projectile at him attached to a cable. Once it struck him, it then electrocuted him, making him yell in pain as he fell to his knees. Behind the mercenary, Red dropped down and lifted him up.

"Leave him alone!" He snarled as he threw him against a wall where some steps were.

Red, Aqua and Olive all gathered around the Old One and helped him up. As they did, a mercenary pulled the pin on a grenade and threw it at them, however, Olive caught it with ease. He checked it before throwing it away over his shoulder and that was when it exploded, throwing them all away.

Xanatos ran up some steps and approached a wall that he pressed to open a secret compartment that revealed a high tech weapon of his. He pulled it out and fired a laser above a mercenary that was about to fire at Goliath and his grey twin. His laser was able to cause some rubble to fall on top of the man. Both Goliath and his brother looked over at Xanatos, who had a smirk on his face before they continued on to fight.

Xanatos then fired his laser rifle at a mercenary up on the wall, who ducked behind a part of it which blew apart.

The female mercenary then ran to a watchtower where she was cornered by Olive.

"Are you a Viking?" He asked her with his eyes glowing white. She replied not with words, but by firing her gun at him, causing him to jump off the wall. She looked over to see nothing but clouds, unaware that Olive glided out where she couldn't see him and he then tackled her all the way down to the castle ground, being watched by Goliath and the Old One.

"These weapons! We must be battling sorcerers." The Old One noted upon seeing one of the guns in front of them.

"Even so, we will protect this castle. It's all we have left." Goliath snarled, not wanting to lose his home, regardless of what has been done to it.

"Catch!" A mercenary shouted, throwing a grenade towards them, it landed by them and exploded, throwing them off the stairwell.

Blue was constantly dodging swings by a mercenary using their knife and kept her eyes open for an opening for her to use. Eventually, they reached a wall, which she bounced off of, jumping over the mercenary and then swung her tail by their legs, knocking them off their feet and then kicked them towards Grey, who grabbed them and threw them at another wall, taking them down for a bit.

Red too was avoiding a mercenary and their knife when Xanatos aimed his rifle at the mercenary.

"Time to take the gloves off." He said but before he could fire, another mercenary came from nowhere and tackled him, which made him fire the rifle accidentally up at the castle wall, which exploded.

That explosion can be seen and heard from the street level, where citizens were watching flashes of light through the clouds with the sounds of explosions, confused and worried about what was going on up there. Eventually, they screamed and ran as rubble rained down on the street, nearly crushing them.

Police arrived and kept everyone back and then both Elisa and Justin arrived in their vehicles and looked up.

"What is going on up there? It's like a battle among gods." He muttered, touching his necklace.

An explosion formed a hole among the wall where some of the Gargoyles were running out of and coughed from all the dust. Then a mercenary ran out as they were being chased by the Gargoyle Beast.

Goliath was by some steps on the wall and spread his wings open, ready to strike when he was spotted by the mercenary who threw grenades. He threw another at him and it exploded, throwing him over the wall and he was descending down the skyscraper. He was able to stop his fall by grabbing onto a metal rod that stuck out but it gave out from his weight and so he fell once more.

Thinking on the spot, he used his claws on his talons and feet on the skyscraper to slow down to a halt, which made him sigh in some relief.

Down on the street, some more rubble rained down and Justin pushed Elisa out of the way before he jumped away to avoid getting hit. They were by some rubble when Justin saw people just standing there.

"GET OUT OF HERE!" He bellowed out, sounding like a roar. It was so loud that Elisa covered her ears as citizens ran.

"Jeez, you'd think they want to wind up as street pizza." Maza muttered under her breath. The two then saw something on a piece of rubble. It was four distinct claw marks. While Elisa was looking at them with curiosity and confusion, Justin looked at them with not just shock, but also hope.

Up in the castle, one of the mercenaries was running through the hallways until he found a mechanical door. He ran up to it and attached a device on the panel for the door, which was short circuited and he entered the room.

Olive leaped down upon one of the mercenaries and he ended up restrained underneath him.

"Got ya!" He sneered at the Gargoyle as he squeezed his arm, causing Olive to scream in pain. Goliath managed to climb back up to the castle to see this and charged at the mercenary and threw him down on the castle ground. He then held him up to his face and growled.

The female mercenary was behind the lavender Gargoyle and threw a gas grenade, which caused Goliath to let the mercenary go and cough violently, allowing the mercenary to be grabbed by his company.

The one mercenary who was in the castle ran back out with a case in his arms.

"Got it!" He informed the others. One of them fired a flare gun up in the sky, igniting and shining so bright that it was like the sun came out. The helicopter from before then flew towards the castle and landed, which had the mercenaries run to it and get onboard.

"Let's go. We got what we came for." One of them said. Xanatos saw this and aimed the rifle.

"I don't think so." He muttered but one of them threw a throwing star at him, hitting the rifle and it came out of his hands. The helicopter then flew off as the flare dissipated. The Gargoyles then gathered around Xanatos.

"*panting* I've never seen weapons like those before. And that flying creature that carried them off." Red noted, looking at Olive.

"So unlike the Vikings we've previously faced." Blue added.

"A dragon without a doubt." The Old One said.

"It wasn't a dragon. It was a machine of some sort." Olive corrected him, showing his knowledge of machinery.

"Thank you. Without you and your friends, who knows what those thugs might have done." Xanatos thanked Goliath.

"Someone I once trusted said the same thing to me. And then destroyed my people." The Gargoyle replied, still unsure whether to trust him or not.

"Hmm. I can see I'll have to work hard to earn your trust." He said, making Goliath growl softly, eyes narrowed as Xanatos pulled out a phone.

"Owen, we need a cleanup crew outside." He ordered.

"Why were you attacked?" Grey questioned as he hanged up his phone.

"The richer you are, the more enemies you have. And I'm very rich. Goliath, this is your home, as well as my headquarters. I hope you'll consider working with me to keep it safe. And I'll even help you find your son." Xanatos offered. Goliath had a thoughtful look on his face, looking at Blue, who he knew had a tight bond with Justin and then up at the castle, considering what Xanatos told him.

"It's your decision lad, but… we've nowhere else to go." The Old One pointed out as he placed a hand on his leader's shoulder. This made him sigh.

"This castle is our home, no matter where it has been taken. We will stay here." He told Xanatos.

"Excellent. I know you've been used poorly by men in the past, but all that is about to change. Trust me." He replied, grasping Goliath's hand, which he pulled out from the human's grasp.

"You broke the spell of sleep that imprisoned us Xanatos, and for that we are grateful. But we will never trust humans again." Goliath practically spat at him, baring his fangs at the human.

"I can tell this relationship is something we'll all have to work at." Xanatos stated.

Down on the street, everyone there looked up seeing that the explosions stopped and were all wondering what happened.

"What do you figure that was all about, Detective?" An officer asked Elisa, who looked up with Justin doing the same standing next to her.

"I don't know. But we're going to find out." She replied, looking at Justin, who had a look of focus, clearly suspecting if those claw marks were from a member of his clan.

The two entered into the lobby of the Eyrie Building and were greeted by Owen Burnett.

"A most unfortunate accident, one of the newly installed generators in the castle exploded. Mr Xanatos is quite willing to pay any damages that might have-"

"Listen, Mr Burnett, what we heard wasn't some generator malfunction. It was automatic gunfire. We're not gullible idiots. Now either you let us both look the place over or we can come back with a warrant and some cops. It's your choice." Justin cut him off, not in the mood to be lied to. Owen clearly saw that he and Elisa wouldn't fall for it so he just led them to an elevator.

Once they reached the top level, the elevator opened and all three walked out. Justin was able to hide his shock as he was back in the Great Hall of Castle Wyvern, just with new renovations, making it look different to how he remembered it, a thousand years ago. And with this, then it means his clan is awake.

"Must have a heck of a heating bill." Elisa commented. They heard footsteps and turned to see Xanatos walk up to them. He himself looked at Justin and noticed his necklace, making him curious if this is indeed the Justin he learned of that was also Goliath's human son.

"Detective Maza, Investigator Forge, I've just called the Mayor to offer my profound apologies for what happened here." He informed the two.

"What exactly did happen here, Mr Xanatos? And please, don't try to tell us it was an 'exploding generator'." Elisa told him. He then gestured to them to follow him and they walked on.

"Owen was a little confused. That's for the press. The truth is that my men repelled an invasion by a rival corporation trying to steal some of our new technology." Xanatos explained, not revealing that it was really the Gargoyle who repelled them. Justin scoffed at the choice of words he made.

"'Repelled an invasion'? You're just a private citizen, Xanatos, not a whole country." He replied as the man pressed a button to open the two large metal doors to exit the hall.

"Investigator Forge, I am the owner of a multinational corporation, which is bigger than many countries you could name." Xanatos told him.

"No matter what you say or how you word it, you're still just a citizen, nothing more." Justin narrowed his eyes at him, disgusted by how much of an ego this man had. Xanatos narrowed his eyes too before he led him and Elisa out on the castle grounds where they saw the aftermath of what happened.

"I assume you have permits for the weapons we heard being fired up here?" Elisa asked.

"Of course." Xanatos answered her. As they talked, they were unaware of Goliath from above looking down on them with a weary eye. He examined the two with Xanatos, the female caught his attention enough but then he looked at the man with her and saw his grey hair and his face. He was shocked to see that it was Justin, his son.

Elsewhere in the castle, Red, Olive and Aqua exited an elevator and found themselves in the kitchen.

"Wow! Look at all this stuff! It's fantastic." Olive exclaimed in awe of the kitchen utensils.

"What do you suppose this does?" Red asked as he examined a stove and he then examined the turndials, turning one of them, igniting one of the burners.

"Whoa!" He exclaimed, jumping back in shock, crashing into Olive, who crashed into a rack full of pots and pans, a pot landing on his head. Red walked over in concern and then Olive pulled the pot off, glaring at him.

Aqua opened a door and entered into what was the freezer where the meat was stored. He growled, in awe of the food that was there. He grabbed some of the food when Olive shut the freezer door, unaware he was in there.

"Hey! Let me out! It's cold in here." He called out to his fellow Gargoyles, who realised where his voice came from.

"We'll save you!" Olive declared as he and Red ran to the door.

"You push and we'll pull." Red instructed before he and Olive pulled on the door handle with all their strength and Aqua then backed up and charged, crashing through and tumbling into Red and Olive, all three making a large mess in the kitchen.

Back outside, Owen walked up to Justin, Elisa and Xanatos to inform what had just happened.

"Excuse me, Mr Xanatos. There seems to be a problem in the kitchen with our new guests."

"I hope I've answered all your questions satisfactorily, you two. Owen will show you both out. Excuse me." Xanatos said before he walked off to the kitchen.

"If you'll come with me?" Owen requested and as Elisa and Justin were about to follow him, they heard rustling and looked up to see a figure up on the castle wall. Justin's eyes widened to see that it was the Old One as he saw the grey hair and brown wings.

"Is there a problem?" Owen asked them, seeing their expressions.

"That stone Gargoyle up there. I could've sworn I saw it move." Elisa replied.

"*nervous laughter* Yes. This old place is rather spooky at night. I thought the same thing more than once." Owen told them, clearly not telling the truth, which Justin knew right away.

Owen opened an elevator.

"Good night, you two." He said as they entered,

"Good night." They repeated as it closed. They then opened it back up.

"Alright, let's split up and cover more ground." Justin suggested and Elisa nodded before they walked off in separate directions.

Elisa opened two large doors and turned on a flashlight to see much better as it was dark and found an archway leading elsewhere.

"Don't tell me. This is where Dracula shows up." She muttered to herself.

Justin walked through the familiar hallways with a sad and reflective look. He remembered all of the memories from a thousand years ago and hoped that he would meet back up with his clan, knowing that they are indeed awake.

Elisa found herself in a dark hallway that led to a stairwell and looked around in case something would jump out and scare her.

"Ha! A good laugh would be worth a lot of money right now." She said before she walked up the stairs, unaware that the Gargoyle Beast followed her scent and growled at the intruder.

Justin found himself down a hallway that led to where prisoners would be kept and as he got closer to the door, he heard some sounds from the other side. He froze on the spot, concerned as to what was in there.

Elisa reached up to the castle wall and looked down at the New York skyline, wondering what is going on right now. Her thoughts were then interrupted when she heard a deep growl from the stairwell. She turned her flashlight off and pulled her pistol out before pointing it in the direction of the stairs.

"Okay, pal, let me see you! Nice and easy." She warned. The Beast made itself known to her, growling. She gasped upon seeing it and she was about to fire when suddenly a grey hand grabbed her pistol and pulled it out of her grasp. She turned and saw Goliath and Grey standing over her, Grey crushing the pistol with ease.

Frightened, Elisa stepped towards the wall but slipped and she then fell over the wall and screamed as she started falling.

Justin heard the scream and realised something just happened.

"Oh no." He whispered before running off to where the scream came from. The sounds from the door getting louder, as though something was aware that he was there.

As Elisa fell, Goliath jumped off and descended to grab her. Once he caught up to her, he held her and spread his wings out to glide to a skyscraper nearby. He let her go and she stepped back and clung to the skyscraper. She then got a proper look at him and was shocked by his appearance.

"Okay. Okay, just take it easy." She said.

"What were you doing in my castle?" He asked her immediately.

"You… you can talk? Who… what are you?" She asked, surprised by the fact he can talk.

"My kind have no names, but you humans call me Goliath." He answered her, sounding slightly annoyed.

"Your kind? You mean, there's more than one of you?" She asked, which made Goliath take a deep breath, both annoyed but also holding in his anger.

"Barely." He replied before he was about to climb up the skyscraper.

"Wait. Don't go. Uh, look, we need to either get down to the street or up to the castle. Since you can fly-"

"I can't fly. I can only glide on currents of wind. There are none strong enough here to lift us back up." Goliath cut her off with an explanation on how his kind works when they're in the air.

"So we're stuck here?" She asked, concerned. Goliath, being the honourable Gargoyle, picked her up by her arm and put her on his back with her arms around his neck.

"Hold on." He advised as he started climbing up, his talons digging into the concrete. Elisa was thankful that she got over her fear of heights as she looked down in slight awe of the street below.

Eventually, Goliath reached the castle and got back on the wall, back with Grey and the Beast. Elisa got off his back and made a sigh of relief before the Beast growled at her, making her slightly jumpy. Goliath's wings hooked together, folded.

"I forgot about him." She said.

"Don't worry. He won't hurt you." Grey assured her with his soothingly deep voice as he petted the Beast.

"Now, once again, what are you doing here? And please, don't fall off the building this time." Goliath said, which made Elisa grin slightly.

Down by some stairs, the rest of the Gargoyles walked out.

"A fine mess you made of that kitchen, lads." The Old One said.

"Yeah, I thought something bad happened when I heard that crash." Blue added.

"Look! Goliath is talking to that human." Olive pointed and they all saw Goliath, Grey and the Beast with Elisa.

"So, a thousand years ago, you were betrayed by the one human you trusted. Does anyone else know about you?" Elisa asked, having been told what had happened to Goliath and his clan, even explaining to her about his adopted son, who she couldn't help but think about how Justin was separated from his family from Scotland.

"Only the man named Xanatos. He brought us here." Goliath replied as the other Gargoyles gathered, Elisa looking at all of them in shock, especially with how different they all looked.

"Oh, this can't be happening." She muttered. Red then sniffed her.

"Is this a new friend, Goliath?" He asked.

"Boy, I hope so." Elisa said.

Justin walked up to an archway to the wall and froze upon seeing his clan, awake and well. The sight of them surrounding Elisa made his eyes water and bottom lip quiver from his overwhelming joy to see them again.

The Beast sniffed as it picked up a familiar scent and it turned to see Justin take a few steps out of the archway. Upon recognising him, he bolted towards him and barked in joy. This attracted the attention of everyone and they turned to see the Beast tackle Justin to the ground and he licked his face, causing Justin to laugh.

"Oh, I missed you too, boy." Justin grinned as he scratched the Beast by the ears. Upon hearing his voice and seeing his grey hair as he stood back up, the clan all gasped.

"Is that…?" Blue asked, wanting to make sure.

"It is." Grey confirmed as Justin looked back at everyone, a smile on his face with some tears down his cheeks.

"You're awake." He said and that made Blue become a blur and tightly wrap her arms around him, making sure he wasn't a figment of her imagination and buried her face in his shoulder, crying in happiness.

"Justin…" She whispered his name and he hugged her back, now fully crying as he missed being in her embrace. All the other Gargoyles, except for Goliath, all then joined in and embraced him, happy to see him again. Grey especially hugged him just as tight as Blue.

"Why are they all glad to see him?" Elisa asked Goliath, who had a smile on his face.

"Because he's a member of my clan. And my son." He revealed, shocking Elisa and making Justin look at his father upon hearing his voice.

"Father…." He said.

"Son…." Goliath said in the same tone and they embraced with so much emotion and his wings wrapped around Justin.

"Justin, this was the family you told me about? But how?" Elisa questioned as father and son parted from their embrace.

"Yes, this is my family. And I was cast with immortality by the Magus." He told her, feeling a bit better knowing that he doesn't have to avoid keeping it all a secret.

"Jeez, this is a lot to take in." Eliza breathed, rubbing her forehead.

"Justin, you know this woman?" Goliath asked.

"Yes. She's my friend, Elisa Maza, a Detective. Second Class, NYPD. I work as a private investigator." Justin nodded, Elisa showing off her badge to the Gargoyles, who were curious about her badge.

"What exactly do Detectives and private investigators do, lad?" The Old One asked.

"They solve cases whenever someone does something wrong and then they find out who did it and arrest them for their crimes." Justin explained as Elisa put her badge back in her jacket.

"Who says what's wrong?" Goliath asked, sounding cold.

"Well, we have a justice system. Laws, penalties, assessments that the people decide." Elisa answered this time.

"You mean, the humans decide?" Goliath clarified before he looked out at the sky, realising that daylight was approaching.

"You have to go now." He demanded Elisa.

"Wait! Will I see you again? I'd like to know more about you. Look, you saved my life so I owe you. Let me help you understand this city, you need to know how it works." Elisa pointed out.

"She's right, father. I trust Elisa with my life. She can be a big help to you, especially since I won't be able to explain everything that's changed since you've slept on my own." Justin added in. Goliath knew his son was a good judge of character so if he trusts Elisa, that's good enough for him.

"If we're to defend the castle, I suppose we need to be prepared for whatever's out there." He said which made all the other Gargoyles nod.

"Very well, especially if my son trusts you." He then said to Elisa.

"Good. Tomorrow's my day off, I'll meet you in the afternoon-"

"After dark." Goliath cut her off, though not explaining why.

"Why am I not surprised? Okay. Here, after dark."

"No. Not here. Over there. On that rooftop." Goliath pointed to a nearby skyscraper that was in gliding distance from the castle.

"Why there?" She asked.

"Why were you sneaking into the castle?" Goliath retorted.

"A good Detective trusts no one." She replied.

"Then that's one thing we have in common." Grey admitted, speaking for his brother.

"You have a lot to explain about, mister." Elisa then pointed a finger at Justin, who put his hands up innocently as he watched his human friends walk off to some stairs to leave the castle.

"It seems that much has changed from what we knew." The Old One said.

"Yes, and if we are to survive in this new world, we need to learn about it and the humans who rule here." Goliath agreed.

"Goliath!" Owen's voice called out and he saw the man by an entryway into the castle.

"Might as well make myself known to Xanatos." Justin stated and walked with his father.

The two made their way and entered into Xanatos' office. Upon seeing them enter, Xanatos frowned seeing Justin with the lavender Gargoyle.

"Why are you here Investigator Forge?" He asked for an explanation. Goliath raised an eyebrow on what his son was called.

"Because I'm Goliath's son, that's why." Justin crossed his arms. Xanatos leaned forward in his chair.

"I must say, it's a privilege to properly meet you. And to think you were in New York this whole time." He said to the immortal human, acting courteous though Justin knew it was more of an act.

"It is almost dawn, Xanatos. My friends and I must sleep soon." Goliath then said, reminding him of the time of day.

"This won't take long. I'm asking for your help, Goliath. That team who attacked us earlier stole something very important from me. The box they took contained three of these hard disks." Xanatos explained, feeling comfortable with Justin there and pulled out a computer disk, handing it to Goliath to take a look at it.

"Disks?" Goliath questioned in confusion, not knowing what they are since they're modern.

"Think of them as magic talismans, each one containing hundreds of spells. It is vitally important that you, your son and your friends get them back for me." The human said.

"Perhaps you should use a… a Detective." Goliath suggested as he handed back the disk to him, not saying that he met Elisa, who he learned from what Detectives are.

"You're learning fast. I can't go to the police. I've already had to forestall an investigation of the fight. Think of the trouble it would cause if they learned of you and your friends. You could be locked up for study or even worse. Remember, you're the only Gargoyles left." Xanatos then explained, getting up from his desk and walking up to the father-son duo. Justin narrowed his eyes as he knew that one of those points wasn't true.

"Humans will fear you."

"And betray us." Goliath bitterly added to Xanatos' point. He then sighed as Xanatos walked towards a monitor.

"What would you have us do, exactly?" Justin asked.

"My sources have discovered that those thieves were hired by a multinational company called Cyberbiotics." He replied as he put in a videotape and then turned on the monitor that played footage of the Statue of Liberty and a tall structure on a nearby island. Goliath instantly stood in front of it in awe.

"Amazing. It's like a… a living tapestry." He said, slightly lost for words to describe it.

"Your naivety is refreshing, Goliath. The stolen data are being held at three different locations." Xanatos said as the footage cut to a better and closer look at the tall structure.

"The first is a research centre on an island in the bay." The footage then cuts to an underground railroad.

"The second is deep beneath the city in a heavily fortified base." The footage then cuts to an airship up in the sky.

"And the third is being kept in a huge air fortress that flies in a holding pattern over the city." Xanatos then shut the monitor off.

"All three places must be hit simultaneously, so none will be able to notify the others. It seems an absurd amount of protection, I know, but rest assured the information is that important." He then said to the pair.

"But why do you want our help?" Justin asked.

"This must be done before their scientists break the encryption codes, before they translate the spells." Xanatos answered. Goliath was deep in thought and thought about how much of a risk this may be.

"This is much different than protecting the castle. It will endanger the lives of my charges and my son. I cannot risk that." He said, shaking his head slightly.

"Think about my request. I'm sure our enemies mean to use this information for some terrible purpose." Xanatos replied, gesturing for them to walk out of his office.

After they left, a door opened up from the wall next to the desk and a figure stood in the shadows, having heard the whole conversation.

"Don't worry. Everything's going according to plan. And she'll not ruin our plans." Xanatos grinned evilly.

Justin and Goliath walk back to the tower where the Gargoyles are hanging out to wait for the sun.

"I don't trust him, father." Justin confessed.

"And why is that, my son?" Goliath asked.

"Because despite waking you and the others up, he's nothing but a liar and a manipulator, using people and his resources to get what he wants. He desires power more than anything else." Justin explained, making his father growl at the idea that he's being manipulated.

"In that case, we must be careful around him." He said as they just about reached the others.

"And I should let you know, when we meet back up with Elisa, there's some that I know and trust that you should meet." Justin brought up.

"Very well. Bring them when we meet up with Elisa." His father nodded. Goliath went on to talk with Grey and the Old One and as he did, Justin walked over to Blue, who looked beyond happy.

"Hi, Justin." She greeted him and they embraced in a gentle hug for a second before parting.

"Hi, Blue. I'm so happy that you and the others are awake. Being alone for the last thousand years has been all manners of depressing." He said.

"I can't imagine. But at least we're all back together." Blue said, her feelings towards him growing more than they ever have been.

"Yeah. Anyway, I have to go home and sleep." He revealed, making her eyes widen.

"Where's your home?" She asked.

"In a renovated clocktower connected to a library. It's akin to the castle." He told her and she giggled.

"Sounds nice." She said.

"Yeah. And by the way, why don't you arrive where father told Elisa to meet? I want to show you around the city." Justin suggested and this made Blue's smile grow more.

"I'd love to. Goodbye." She nodded and they hugged, Justin saying goodbye to her and then to the other members of their clan before he left.

It's nearly sunrise when Justin drove his car to a garage he reserved for himself. He parked his car and exited to walk down an alleyway by the 23rd Precinct that the clocktower is on top of. He climbed up a fire escape that reached up to the clocktower and reached it within a minute.

Upon entering, the clocktower looked completely refreshed and like a large manor. In one corner was what can be described as the living area where the latest state of the TV and VHS player is present with a couch, a recliner and sofa chair with a coffee table on top of a carpet. Elsewhere is the kitchen and some dining tables next to it. All the equipment and utensils were the best available in the market. Nearby were the toilets and there was a set of stairs that led up to Justin's bedroom.

"Diana, Athena, I'm back." He called out to his fellow residents. Instantly, enthusiastic barking can be heard and from a stairwell, a Gargoyle Beast ran towards him. She is brown, looking like a leaner version of the Beast of his clan with a longer tail, a crest with three spikes and a longer snout. She reached him and got on her hind legs, licking his face.

"Hey, easy, girl. You know your saliva doesn't wash off." He told the Beast, named Athena, who got off him and sat in front of him. Footsteps were heard and Justin looked up to see his other resident. It was a female Gargoyle. She has pink skin, a medium sized beak, half the size of Red's, long dark hair that she has tied up in a ponytail. She wears a one piece brown leotard and loincloth.

"What's with the smile?" The Gargoyle named Diana asked.

"They're awake." He said and this made both Athena and Diana jaw dropped as they knew what he was talking about.

"You mean… your clan is finally awake after all this time?" Diana asked for confirmation. Justin nodded and Diana bear hugged him, so happy that he's reunited with his family. Athena barked cheerfully.

"I'm so happy for you." Diana said as she broke apart from him, a smile on her face.

"And I think you should know that Elisa knows of them and who I really am." He sheepishly added, making her roll her eyes.

"She was bound to find out sooner or later." She pointed out.

"I know. But anyway, me and Elisa are meeting up with my father and Blue at a skyscraper near the Eyrie Building where the castle is located. And I want you and Athena to meet them." Justin informed her and Athena.

"Are you sure about that?" Diana asked and Athena even rumbled in confusion.

"Yes. Xanatos told my father that he and the clan are the only Gargoyles remaining. They should know that it isn't true in the slightest. And it would be nice for you two to join our clan." Justin argued for why they should meet his father.

"True. It would be nice to correct that snake for his lies. And I'll finally meet the red Gargoyle you talked about." Diana blushed. Justin told her about his clan members and whenever he brought up Red, he got her complete attention, clearly having a big crush on him.

"Trust me, he'll be head over heels for you." He remarked before he looked out to see the sky changing colour.

"The sun's coming up. Let's go to sleep." He said.

"You're right. Come on, girl." She said and led Athena outside to go on a couple of pedestals.

Justin walked up the stairs leading to his bedroom. He then entered. In his bedroom was a queen sized bed with black and white blanket and pillows. It was against the wall that had a window that gave him a brilliant view of the city. Next to Justin's bed is a nightstand that had a lamp on it and had drawers that housed his gun and files. On the other side of his room is both a desk and a wardrobe where he keeps his clothes.

He put his gun in his nightstand and then he approached his wardrobe where he took his clothes off, revealing all the scars he got from all the battles he fought in, and put on a plain grey shirt and black pyjama bottoms. He sat on the bed and opened a drawer that housed his files. He grabbed one in particular and opened it to show images and evidence of Xanatos doing all kinds of illegal and inhuman things.

"I'm gonna get you, Xanatos. The people need to know the man you really are." He muttered in a deeper pitch before he closed the file, put it back in the drawer and then got underneath the blanket and dozed off instantly.

Later in the day, the sun had set and all the Gargoyles at the castle woke up from their Stone Sleep, roaring as they shed their stone shell.

Red, Olive and Aqua all looked like they were about to fly off when Goliath jumped down next to them. Blue walked up to them.

"Where do you think you're going?" Goliath asked the trio.

"To explore the city. After all, we can't spend the rest of our lives in the castle." Red pointed out with a good argument.

"He's right. If we're going to live here, we've got to know all about this city. It's people, it's devices…." Olive added.

"The food!" Aqua added as well.

"And Justin wants to show me around the city." Blue brought up. Goliath understood their reasoning and trusts his son to be careful with Blue in the city.

"Oh, very well. The three of you may explore. But stay close to the building and stay out of sight." He cautioned as Grey, the Old One and the Beast gathered. The trio all nodded and they glided off to explore the city.

At the skyscraper Goliath pointed to the previous night, Elisa opened the door to the roof and closed it back up.

"Hello? Anyone there?" She called out. Her answer came when Goliath and Blue came out from around the corner, surprising Elisa.

"There you are. Why were you hiding back there?" She asked the two.

"I wanted to make sure you were alone." Goliath answered.

"Not to worry. You look like you could handle a whole SWAT team." Elisa remarked before both the Old One and Grey jumped down from above, surprising everyone by their appearance.

"What are you two doing here?" Blue asked.

"Just making certain you both were not being ambushed." The Old One said.

"Isn't Justin supposed to be here?" Grey then asked, making everyone realise that he's right since he hasn't shown up yet.

But then they all heard wings gliding in the air and they turned to see a surprising sight. They saw Justin, wearing the same clothes as last night, holding onto Diana, who had Athena in her arms. She landed and Justin got on his feet and Diana put Athena down.

"Hello." Justin casually waved, smirking at the expressions everyone made from seeing the two new Gargoyles.

"Xanatos said we were the last of our kind." Goliath said.

"Well he doesn't know everything. I'm Diana, this good girl is Athena." The pink Gargoyle introduced herself and the female Beast, who barked upon her name being mentioned.

"Wait, the same Diana and Athena that Justin keeps mentioning?" Elisa asked, frowning at said person.

"Now you know why I say they're very private." Justin said. Elisa shook her head and looked at the Old One and Grey.

"Are you two coming on the tour? What do I call you two anyway?" She asked them, her attention more so on Grey, who she can't help but admit that he's handsome.

"I'll come since I'm curious myself." Grey replied.

"Must you humans name everything? Nothing's real to you till you've named it, given its limits." The Old One ranted.

"At least with names we can distinguish who or what we're talking about." Justin retorted.

"Yeah, things need names." Elisa nodded.

"Does the sky need a name? Does the river?" The Old One asked, pointing at the closest river.

"Well that river does have a name. The Hudson River." Diana informed him. This made the Old One look to Goliath, Blue and Grey, who all just smirked at him. He just sighed in defeat as it's clear he's going to need a name since Goliath has one, as well as Diana and Athena.

"Fine, lass. Then I will be the Hudson as well." He finally caved in.

"Great, Hudson it is." Elisa said and then looked at Grey and within several seconds, she came up with the perfect name.

"Would you like to be called Harlem?" She asked him. Grey was in thought and actually liked the name.

"Yes. From now on, I'll be called Harlem." He nodded.

"Alright." Elisa grinned, feeling a slight warmth in her stomach that she never had before.

"And what about you?" She then asked Blue.

"I got the perfect name. Bellatrix, meaning female warrior." Justin suggested instantly. Blue blushed as she couldn't help but think how perfect the name is.

"Thanks. I'll be called that from now on." She said.

"Great. I don't know how I'm going to keep people from noticing you." Elisa then said, looking at both Goliath and Harlem.

"Simple. We'll stay on the rooftops." Goliath said as though it was obvious.

"Easy for you with those wings, but what about me?" Elisa questioned. The answer was Harlem grabbing her and holding her in his arms, bridal style and at the same time, Justin got on Bellatrix's back and wrapped his arms around her to hook onto her.

"Does that answer your question?" Justin smirked with Bellatrix. Elisa then wrapped an arm around Harlem and they both smiled at each other but then they looked at Goliath, Hudson, Diana and Athena, who watched them with various expressions.

"*clears throat* Anyway, let's be off. Coming… Hudson?" Goliath asked, clearly trying to adjust to calling him by an actual name. Hudson looked down at the streets, seeing the traffic and hearing sirens.

"I think not. This new world is too big, too bright, too loud. Now that I know you're alright, I'll return to guard the castle." He replied.

"Can me and Athena come with you? We'd like to visit your home." Diana requested, Athena barking in agreement.

"Sure, lass. Just follow me." Hudson nodded and so Diana grabbed Athena into her arms and they then glided off towards the castle.

"We'll meet you guys later at the castle." Justin said before he and Bellatrix jumped off and glided off elsewhere in the city.

"Well, looks like it's just us three. What do you want to see?" Elisa asked Goliath.

"The dangers that threaten me and my kind." He told her in a grim tone.

"Lighten up, will you? You're starting to bring me down and I'm a cop." Elisa replied.

With that, Goliath and Harlem jumped off and glided throughout the city.

With Bellatrix and Justin, they glided in pure bliss as they did one of their favourite things during the old days where they just glided in the air in each other's embrace, Justin even shed a few tears as he missed this so much.

The two had landed on the roof of a doughnut shop to take a break from all the gliding they had just done, Justin pointing to and explaining the many different things New York had compared to medieval Scotland.

"What do you think?" He asked her.

"It's amazing. This city makes all the ancient civilisations look like nothing in comparison." Bellatrix replied.

"And this is just a small percentage of the changes since. Which includes the food." Justin said, sniffing the scent of doughnuts being made, which Bellatrix also sniffed and found lovely.

"What is that smell?" She asked.

"Doughnuts. Wait here." He told her and climbed down the ladder that led into an alleyway. He then entered the doughnut shop and ordered a bag of sugar coated ring doughnuts. He then climbed back up on the roof and walked up to Bellatrix.

"Here are some doughnuts." He said as he opened the bag and she looked in to see a bunch of freshly made and warm sugar coated ring doughnuts. The smell is much stronger and she moaned in bliss.

"They smell so good." She whispered.

"They taste even better." He told her as he grabbed a doughnut and handed it to her. She took it upon suspecting it a little bit, she then took her first bite and her eyes widened from what had to be the most heartwarming and delicious food she had ever eaten. The doughnut felt like it was melting in her mouth and the sugar added a sweet kick that made it more delicious and she finished the whole thing in a matter of seconds.

"*chuckles* So, what do you think?" He asked, already knowing what she thinks.

"It is so good. I cannot believe food can be this lovely. This is now my favourite food." Bellatrix declared, making him laugh before they both shared the doughnuts together.

Elsewhere, Goliath and Harlem landed on top of the Empire State Building after Elisa told them and showed them everything in the city.

"What do you think so far?" Elisa asked them as Harlem let her go and she got on her feet.

"It's very impressive." Harlem confessed.

"Such amazing changes men have made while we slept. Stone streets. Finer than those the Romans built. Towers of glass and iron." Goliath added, awe present in his voice as they looked out at the city, the wind brushing them all.

"Yeah. I'm used to it. But I guess it's pretty impressive to an out of towner." Elisa told them.

"How come there's no walls guarding the city? How are you able to protect yourselves against invaders?" Harlem asked her.

"Well, our biggest worries aren't from outside, they're from inside." She told him in a serious tone.

"That we are too familiar with." Goliath understood very well.

Back at the castle, Hudson and the Beast were walking through the hallways, feeling down. Hudson had of course given Diana and Athena the tour around the castle and the Beast was able to get along with Athena but they decided to be on their own. The Beast whimpered to Hudson.

"Aye, boy, I know how you feel. It's a strange new world." The old Gargoyle replied as he opened a door that opened up into a room where there was a recliner, a psychiatrist couch, a coffee table and a TV.

Hudson walked up to the recliner and examined it before sitting on it. He found it comfortable until he was shocked when it leaned back and lifted his legs up, even surprising the Beast. But after the initial shock, Hudson found it very comfortable that he sighed in relief and closed his eyes.

"Well, now, this isn't too bad." He confessed. The Beast sniffed the TV remote and Hudson grabbed it. He pointed it at the TV and pressed a button, turning it on and it was playing a rock music video where a man was screeching as he was playing the electric guitar. This shocked the two so much that they bolted out of the room.

At a part of New York that was disheveled and grimy, a car was malfunctioning and broke down on a street, which annoyed the woman of the couple in the car.

"Don't tell me. There's this charming, undiscovered bistro behind that dumpster?" She groaned.

"Give it a rest, Margot." The man tried to assure her and turned the ignition but the engine simply stalled.

"What do you expect? You only paid 40 grand for the car." She then coolly told him before facing away from him. He then grabbed a phone attached to the car and called a number yet the call wasn't working as expected.

"There must be interference. I can't get through." He revealed.

"Wonderful! Priceless! Now what do we do?" She asked, growing concern.

"Maybe I can fix it." The man said, getting out of the car.

"You have to call a repairman to plug in the coffee maker." He remarked. The man closed the car door and opened the front of the car to try and check what's wrong.

"You got a problem, pal?" A voice asked, making him turn to see three shady looking people. One was bald, wearing glasses and holding a pipe. One had brown skin and wore a leather jacket. The third was chunky and muscular, wearing leather gloves.

"Hey, maybe we can help. I had a year of auto shop." The bald one sneered with a chuckle as he and the other two walked up to the man.

"Uh, no problem. I-I just called the police. They'll be here any minute." The man tried lying to them. Margot, still in the car, locked all the doors.

"Got a passport, mook?" One of the thugs asked.

"Passport?" The man questioned.

"Yeah. You're on our territory and we don't like visitors." The bald thug chuckled.

"Uh…"

"Papers, please!" The brown skinned thug demanded with a hand out.

"Give him your wallet, Brendan." Margot said, seeing that if they just do as told, they can get out of this quickly.

"I-I don't have much cash on me." He said, pulling his wallet out.

"Oh, we're real sorry to hear that… Brendan." The gloved thug mocked, pulling a chain out in his hands. He then started spinning it when Goliath, Harlem and Elisa (in Harlem's arms) glide over them and land in an alley. The brown skinned thug was able to see them in the corner of his eye and looked over at the alley.

"Aren't you boys late for your 4H club meeting?" Elisa asked the thugs, walking out of the alley to get their attention.

"Man, it just keeps getting better, don't it?" The gloved thug questioned and the three all started walking up to her.

"Police." She informed them, pulling her badge out.

"Police, huh? Yeah, we're very impressed." The bald one sneered, clearly thinking it was just a fake badge.

"I'm warning you guys." She told them, making them laugh, thinking she is some weak person, unaware of the two Gargoyles she is with.

"Have it your way." She shrugged before running into the alley, the three thugs chasing her. Both Brendan and Margot were concerned for Elisa as Margot got out of the car. As she did, the couple heard a growl and then screaming.

In the alley, both Goliath and Harlem were roaring at the thugs, eyes glowing white. The brown thug screamed that they're monsters and the bald one tried to hit Goliath but he just grabbed the pipe like it was nothing and threw it away. He then held up the thug by his shirt and threw him back into a dumpster.

Harlem then grabbed the thug with the chain by the head and punched him right in the face, knocking him out. This was seen by Brendan, who was horrified by what he was seeing.

"Stay back! Margot, run!" Brendan said and he and Margot ran for their lives.

In the alley, all three thugs were taken care of and Elisa walked up to the Gargoyle brothers, who turned to face her.

"Human gratitude?" Goliath asked.

"I guess. You know, you two are the best thing to happen to this city in a long time." She said to them before walking past the thugs.

"I like her. She has spirit." Harlem told his brother, who gave him a subtle smirk.

At another part of the city, the trio of Rookery Brothers all leaned on a balcony of a building next to a street with Gargoyle statues right next to them.

"I've never seen so many wonders." Aqua said as they all looked down on the street.

"Look!" Olive said, grabbing Red's arm and pointing at someone riding a motorcycle.

"I've got to see how it works." He confessed, his curiosity on overload before he glided to catch up to it.

"Wait!" Red warned him but it fell on deaf ears as Olive glided down and hovered right behind the motorcycle to examine it.

"What a beautiful device." He said, getting the attention of the person riding the vehicle, who turned his head and jumped in fright upon looking at him and lost control of the motorcycle that he hit a curb and got thrown off. Olive landed next to the motorcycle and watched the person run and yell in fright.

"Wait. Come back!" He whined right before Red and Aqua landed next to him.

"Goliath said not to let anybody see us." Red reminded the smaller Gargoyle.

"I didn't mean to let him see me. I just wanted to look at his machine." Olive argued before he got the vehicle on its wheels and tried to sit on it.

"Be careful." Aqua cautioned him.

"It looks easy enough." Olive replied as he revved the bike up and then he made it move, ending up in a wheelie and at a speed so fast that he was thrown off the seat and hanged on to the handles. The other two Gargoyles ran to catch up.

Olive saw a wall up ahead and with that, he let the bike go and watched it crash and then explode into a fire that lit up the area.

"Maybe we'd better not tell Goliath about this." Red suggested, his fellow clan members agreeing instantly.

With Justin and Bellatrix, the two were high up in an unused opera box where they were watching and listening to La Traviata. Bellatrix couldn't believe how powerful, emotional and moving opera music can be. It even made her shed some tears. Once it finished, the two left and exited up to the roof of the opera house.

"How was that?" Justin asked, wondering what she thought.

"It was breathtaking. I can't believe that mankind can make music like that. I didn't even know what was being sung and I was moved. Thank you for bringing me here to witness that." She confessed with a tender embrace, wings even wrapped around Justin.

"No problem, Bella. I thought you should be educated in music." He said as he hugged her back. She smiled softly at the nickname he gave her. She knew that it would be something she'd give exclusive permission to him to call her that.

Elisa walked with Harlem and Goliath through Central Park. It was empty, with no one in sight. All that remained was the sound of the insects.

"We're probably the only ones in the park who don't have to worry about muggers." She told the two.

"This place is lovely." Harlem said, looking all around at the trees and the greenery surrounding them.

"This world is just as savage as the one I remember." Goliath grimly changed the mood.

"You're judging it the way humans have judged you." Elisa pointed out, making the lavender Gargoyle look at her, wondering what she meant. Harlem, however, realised what she's trying to do.

"And sure, the city shows an ugly face sometimes, but… there's more to it than that. There's beauty here, moms that sing to their kids, the way my mom used to." She continued her explanation until Goliath and Harlem suddenly tensed up and growled as they heard rustling from bushes nearby.

"Whoa, what is it?" She asked the pair, not hearing the rustling.

From the bushes, two figures fired a couple of darts that hit Goliath and Harlem on their arms and they growled again, starting to feel weak. As this happened, the mercenaries that attacked the castle from the previous night surrounded them. Elisa pulled her gun out but it was kicked out of her hand and one of the mercenaries restrained her from the back.

Both Goliath and Harlem, especially Harlem, got angry upon seeing this and they swatted away a couple of the mercenaries and roared before they got restrained until they were too weak and lost consciousness.

One of the mercenaries then pulled out a pistol, clearly wanting to kill them.

"What do you want?" Elisa demanded.

"We're just tying up loose ends." He sneered as he aimed his pistol at the Gargoyles.

"Once you're out of the way, we'll hunt down those other ones like you." He then hissed at them.

"No. I won't let you." Goliath groaned as he and Harlem woke up.

"What makes you think you've got a choice?" The mercenary questioned.

Elisa knew she had to do something so she stood on the foot of the mercenary restraining her, which caused him to let go of her and then she elbowed him in the stomach before punching with a double fist on the back, taking him down.

She threw him aside and rammed into the mercenary that had the pistol, throwing him back and the pistol into a bush.

"Goliath! Harlem!" She called out. Goliath kicked the female mercenary away while Harlem headbutted another, knocking them out and the two were able to throw the rest away from them.

Elisa grouped back with them when a shot went off, sparks emitting from the ground by their feet. They looked to see the female mercenary with a pistol in her hands. She fired at them more and so Harlem grabbed Elisa into his arms but then he fell to his knees before he could run. Pushing through his weak state, he still carried her and both he and Goliath ran, being chased by the woman, who kept firing at them.

The two Gargoyles then ran up a rock formation and jumped off, allowing them to glide low to the ground and avoided being shot until they managed to shake the mercenary off.

"Cease firing! They won't get far." One of her fellow comrades told her, grabbing her arm.

Back with Justin and Bellatrix, the two were gliding up in the air, heading back to the castle. Justin had just finished showing her around the city and they both had smiles on their faces.

"So, with all that, what do you think?" He asked her about the tour.

"It'll take some getting used to but I like it here, especially because of those doughnuts." She answered.

"Well, if you want, I can bring them to you every couple of days if you want." He suggested and she nodded so fast that she became a blur.

"Oh, yes, please! You're the best, Justin." She eagerly replied, making him feel happy that he made her happy.

Elsewhere in the air, the trio were flying and Aqua was nearly finished eating a whole load of pretzels. He took a bite of the last one when he looked over to Red, who had his eyes narrowed at him.

"These are great. You should try some." He said to the horned Gargoyle.

"I would have, if you hadn't eaten the entire cartfull." He replied as Aqua had seen a cart that sold pretzels and he went to grab them, scaring the person that was selling them.

Aqua had finished it up by the time he and Red landed on a rooftop.

They watched Olive being out of control and he flew in between them before crashing into a wall upside down. He then fell onto his back.

"*sighs* This is a big city. My wings are tired." He explained to the other two.

"Mine, too. And it's a long way back to the castle." Red said, massaging his left shoulder and flexing his wings before looking down on the street to see a man standing by the curb, arm out.

"Yo, taxi!" The man yelled out and a yellow taxi stopped right next to him and he got in before it took off down the road. Red wondered if he and his Rookery Brothers could do the same.

The three waited by the closed off entrance to the building they were on top of and Red peeked out to see if a taxi was coming. The other two did the same and all three saw one coming. Red then stepped out and put his arm out.

"Yo, taxi!" He yelled. This of course freaked the taxi driver out that he made a sudden u-turn and drove away. This made the trio all slump and their wings drooped.

"Looks like we walk." Aqua moaned.

Back at Central Park, Elisa helped both Goliath and Harlem under a bridge where they rested for now.

"What is wrong with us?" Goliath asked.

"I don't think I've ever felt this weak before." Harlem said as Elisa pulled the darts off of them.

"This is what's wrong. They pumped you both full of something." She said before she noticed something on Goliath's back. She pulled it off him.

"And this is how they found us." She added, showing it to the Gargoyle duo.

"What is that?" Harlem asked, holding his hand out and Elisa put the object in his hand.

"A radio transmitter." She said and both Gargoyles looked at the small object made of metal and having a logo on it.

"Some form of magic that led them to us?" Goliath asked as the barking of a dog was approaching them. Harlem then handed the transmitter to Elisa.

"That's one way of putting it. Look." She replied, seeing that the logo on it looked like a bug.

"Some kind of manufacturer's logo." She explained, showing the logo to them.

"Then how did this transmitter get on Goliath?" Harlem questioned, saying the new word with ease.

"Good question." Elisa stated as she saw a dog behind her, sniffing a bag. This gives her an idea. She walked up to the dog.

"Come on, boy. Come here." She said to it, getting it's attention and it growled at her.

"Easy. Easy, boy." She softly said to it, kneeling down and putting her hand out to it. It stopped growling and licked her hand while she put the transmitter on it.

"Go on. Go on. Go. Go, go." She then told it and it ran off, barking.

"There. Let them chase Rover instead of us." Elisa said, walking back over to Goliath and Harlem and putting their arms on her shoulders.

"Come on. Let's get out of here before something else happens." She then told them and they walked off.

Back at the castle, Justin and Bellatrix had finally arrived and met up with Diana and Athena, who barked at them, greeting them back up on the tower.

"How was your day?" Diana asked Bellatrix as she let Justin off.

"It was amazing. I now have a new favourite food and I just heard opera for the first time. It was breathtaking." The dark blue Gargoyle answered enthusiastically, which made Justin laugh.

"Next time, I'm gonna introduce you to pizza." He told her and she was excited to see what pizza is.

Elsewhere, within the castle, Hudson and the Beast were back in the room with the TV but this time, they were watching some entertainment. Hudson was in the recliner and the Beast was on the psychiatrist couch.

Hudson was able to learn and understand the TV and how it worked with the remote and was currently laughing at some comedian before he changed the channel to a dog and then to a man playing a saxophone to a woman and then to a scene from a thriller, then to a scene from The Lion King, then to a western, then to a dog food commercial where the dog barked and the Beast growled at it, which Hudson found amusing.

He then looked out the window to see that daylight was approaching and so he turned the TV off.

"Come, boy. They should be getting back soon. And the young would be happy to see the new arrivals." He said to the Beast, who scratched behind the ear before they walked out and met up with the others.

"Just got back, you two?" He asked Justin and Bellatrix. They both nodded and turned to see the trio heading their way to the tower.

"It's about time you lads came home." Hudson told them as they landed, the three not noticing Diana and Athena since they're behind the old Gargoyle.

"This city is a fascinating place." Red said.

"There are underground tubes with giant metal…

"Lights so bright they turn night into day."

"Huge metal ships."

"All kinds of food!"

"Oh yeah? You wanna see some new visitors?" Justin asked, Hudson stepping aside and revealing Diana and Athena. The three were jaw dropped upon seeing another Gargoyle and Gargoyle Beast, especially ones that are female.

"Well, hello… what have we here?" Red asked, putting on the most charming voice he could muster, making Diana giggle.

"I'm Diana, this is Athena." She introduced herself and the Beast to them and Athena got up to them and nuzzled their legs, a sign that she liked them.

"Nice to meet you. Surprising that you both have names." Olive said.

"Our old clan each had names where we're from." Diana explained to them.

"By the way. Have you seen Goliath and his brother?" Hudson then asked everyone, making them realise that they weren't back yet.

"We thought they'd be back by now. It's almost dawn." Olive said.

"And they never arrive at the last minute. Something's wrong." Justin said, concerned for his father and uncle figure. Bellatrix held his hand for comfort.

"Aye, that worries me, lad." Hudson agreed with him, stroking the Beast's head.

Over at Central Park, as Elisa helped Goliath and Harlem, the two realised that it's almost dawn.

"Too late. We'll never make it back before sunrise." Goliath said.

"Before sunrise?" Elisa repeated, confused as to what he meant.

"Helpless." Harlem told her as he and his brother lifted their arms off her.

"During the day, no defenses, vulnerable." He added as they got under a tree.

"I don't get it. What happens at sunrise?" Elisa asked, still confused about what they're talking about.

"You'll see." Goliath told her as he and Harlem got on their knees right as the sun rose up from the horizon.

Elisa looked out and saw the mercenaries approaching, and as she did, she heard crackling sounds.

"Guys, we need to move." She said before she looked back at them to see that they're now stone statues, unaware that this is their Stone Sleep.

"Goliath? Harlem? Guys!" She tried to talk to them but saw that it was pointless. Knowing that she'd have to keep them safe, she'll have to draw the mercenaries away.

So when they got closer, she stepped out in front of them and she headed off in a different direction away from the Gargoyles.

"There she goes!"

"Where are the beasts?" The female mercenary asked their leader.

"We can track them later with the transmitter. Get her!" He replied before they all followed after her.

Elisa ran at top speed, panting loudly. She looked over her shoulder to see that they're following her, as planned, and she pushed a branch out of the way before she reached an area where some tables were situated.

She stopped for a few seconds to look back, panting heavily before running into the array of tables and kneeling down next to one to hide.

The mercenaries arrived in the area, stopping next to a statue depicting a moment from Alice in Wonderland and looked out at all the tables.

"Fan out." The leader ordered them all and they splintered off in different directions.

Elisa peeked and saw one of them approaching near her and once he got close enough, she swiped her leg at his, causing him to fall face first and get knocked out. She then grabbed his pistol and ran off as the other mercenaries heard the commotion and turned to see her figure run away.

They started firing at her but she fired back and managed to hit one of them in the arm.

She ran past large mushrooms, where the female mercenary popped out. She fired a shot but missed Elisa and instead hit a statue of a rabbit.

The Police Detective ran towards a boat house and entered, slamming the door shut and taking a moment to catch her breath. She then opened up the pistol to see that it had no more rounds in it.

"Oh, empty." She muttered, throwing the gun away. Then suddenly, shots were fired at the door, narrowly missing her and so she ducked and curled up to avoid being shot. Once the gunfire stopped, she heard trickling and looked next to her to see a gas canister leaking out from bullet holes. Then she saw some more canisters. Worried, Elisa got up and ran as more gunshots were made.

She jumped out into the lake just in time as the boat house exploded into a large fireball.

"That takes care of that." The merc leader said to the female merc.

"Let's just make sure." She replied.

Elisa swam in the water, far away from the boat house. She reached a dock and surfaced, gasping for air. She then heard footsteps above her and stayed quiet, looking through gaps in the wood until she saw the merc above her. She then grabbed them by the ankle, pulling them in the water.

However, the merc screamed, catching the attention of the leader, who turned around to see Elisa running a wooded part of the park.

"You don't know it, but you're making this harder than it had to be." He grinned, pulled out a magazine and reloaded his gun and then started to chase after her.

Elisa ran her way through the trees until she found herself on a small creek, facing a large cliff. She was now cornered.

The merc slowly walked through the forested area, keeping his eyes open for the woman. He saw the cliff and smiled knowing that she had no way out.

"It's over, lady. Don't get me wrong. I admire you. You and those freak jobs took out four of my people." He said until he spotted Elisa's red jacket.

"And now…" He brushed a branch slightly before jumping out to finally take her down but froze upon seeing that it was just her jacket hanging on a branch.

"Uh oh." He muttered, knowing he just fell into a trap. Elisa, with her black shirt on, jumped down on him, slamming him onto a rock, making him fire some shots until she managed to knock the gun out of his hand, falling into the water. The merc managed to get her off of him and when he tried to tackle her, she threw him over her shoulder and landed on the ground, falling into unconsciousness. Elisa took deep breaths, finally able to relax from the adrenaline that was pumping in her body.

"Lot to go through for a couple of pieces of lawn sculpture." She said, pulling her jacket off the branch and headed her way back to Goliath and Harlem's stone forms.

As she did, she pulled her waterproof phone out and called Justin.

"Elisa, what happened?" He instantly asked upon accepting her call.

"We got attacked by some mercs who fired a couple of darts at Goliath and Harlem. They got weak and were turned into stone. I took down the mercs but I don't know what to do." She replied.

"Alright, first off, thanks for helping them. And second, there's nothing to worry about. They're in what is called Stone Sleep. Gargoyles go through it during the day. It's how they sleep and even heal. So when the sun sets, they'll be perfectly fine." He assured her, making her sigh with relief as she reached where the tables were.

"That's good to hear."

"No problem. Where are you by the way?" He then asked.

"At Central Park. The new statues are easy to spot." Elisa informed him.

"Got it. I'll be there as soon as I can." Justin replied.

"Thanks." She nodded and hung up as she reached the statues of Goliath and Harlem.

She sat next to them in the shade provided by the tree, which helped against the heat from the clear sky for the next half hour until she saw Justin approach her with a paper bag and some takeaway cups of coffee. Once he arrived, he saw that she was slightly wet.

"Why are you wet?" He asked, frowning in confusion.

"Those goons chased after me into a boat house and I had to swim and hide by a dock." She answered as she accepted one of the cups of coffee and as Justin sat down next to her.

"Thank you for that. You saved my father and who I consider an uncle. They'll see that you are indeed trustworthy." He told her, patting her by the shoulder. Elisa smiled upon hearing those words. Seeing that they have all day to spend here, she may as well ask some questions.

"So, what was it like living with Gargoyles?" She first asked him, taking out a doughnut from the bag and as he took a sip of his coffee.

"Normal, really. I've been raised by them for as long as I can remember. I was loved, taken care of and was even taught in the Gargoyle ways. I was taught how to fight by the Captain of the Guard and by Hudson as well. Of course, my father felt it was necessary to be familiar with human ways so I was taught with Princess Katharine. Things were great overall, despite tension between the humans and Gargoyles." He reminisced, thinking back to some good memories. Like how his father taught him how to walk, which he somehow remembered. The first time he was in the air with Bellatrix. And how his mother would comfort him by hugging him and humming a lullaby, which made him shed some tears, still mourning her.

"What's wrong?" Elisa asked.

"I still miss my mother. I know she had issues with humanity, but it didn't stop her from loving me with her heart." He told her. Elisa remembered when she first encountered Goliath and Harlem and how they lost their mates and how it affected Justin.

"I'm sorry for your loss. No one should go through something like that." She comforted him by wrapping an arm around him and let him lean his head on him.

After that breakdown, the two continued chatting to kill time, eating doughnuts and drinking their coffee.

At some point, during midday, they heard footsteps approaching and on edge, they looked to see that it was just someone jogging. The jogger stopped and jogged on the spot upon seeing Goliath and Harlem.

"I've run this path for five years, and I've never noticed those statues before." He told the pair.

"Hey, this park's full of surprises." Justin shrugged off before the jogger continued on.

After that, the two took turns taking naps and the sun was about to set when Justin was awake.

"Elisa, wake up. We need to step back." He said, shaking her to wake her up.

"Huh, why?" She asked as she rubbed her eyes and stepped back with him.

"You'll see." He simply said right before the sun set and then cracks started forming on the stone forms of the two Gargoyles. Eventually, the two broke out of their shells standing up and stretching, letting out guttural growls from their throats. Goliath turned to see Justin with Elisa.

"Justin, what are you doing here?" He asked.

"Elisa informed me of what happened and I rushed over." He replied as he and Elisa walked up to the pair.

"Are you two okay?" Elisa asked Goliath and Harlem.

"Of course." Goliath answered as though it was obvious.

"Why wouldn't we be?" Harlem retorted with a sly grin.

"That sedative seems to have worn off." She noticed.

"Sleep rejuvenates us." Goliath gave her the reason.

"Of course, Justin told me about that." She noted, nodding over to who she mentioned.

"You both stayed with us for the whole day?" Harlem asked, sounding surprised, mainly for Elisa.

"Yeah, well, someone had to make sure those comic book rejects didn't find you." Elisa shrugged.

"Thank you. It is very possible that you saved our lives." Goliath admitted as he and Harlem put their hands out in front of Elisa. Surprised, she ended up shaking hands with both of them, which had Justin smile.

"So now we're even." She said as they separated hands.

"We must return. They'll be worried about us." Goliath said.

"I understand." Elisa nodded as Justin got on his father's back and linked arms around his chest.

"So, uh… later tonight?" Elisa asked Harlem both Gargoyles, in particular Harlem. They both grinned and nodded, clearly liking the idea of meeting up with her again. Justin winked at her.

Back at the castle, all the Gargoyles, including Diana and Athena all woke up and stretched before jumping off their pedestals. Red looked up the tower at the pedestals that Goliath and Harlem tend to reside and saw that they haven't made it back.

"Don't worry, lads and lasses, they'll be back. We didn't survive 1,000 years' sleep just to lose them now." Hudson told them all, his wings linked into a cape.

"I hope you're right." Red said and the Beast whimpered, which had Athena nuzzle it, trying to comfort it.

"From what I've been told about them, they can handle themselves." Diana assured everyone, placing a comforting hand on Red's shoulder, which he was grateful for as he needed it.

Bellatrix looked out and saw both Goliath and Harlem fly to them, Justin on his father's back.

"Look!" She shouted, pointing at them. Everyone looked to see them being outlined by the full moon behind them.

The two Gargoyles landed on the tower and Justin got off his father.

"We were worried about you." Red told them.

"What happened?" Aqua asked.

"It appears we have enemies." Goliath replied, unaware that this was being recorded by a camera that played the footage in Xanatos' office, who was now aware of the existence of Diana and Athena, which surprised him as he thought that the clan were the last remaining Gargoyles.

"We're ready for him now, Owen. And make sure to bring the grey one with him as well." He told Owen after he shut the monitor off.

Back with the Gargoyles, Goliath and Harlem explained what had happened to them.

"Given what happened, I wish you had accompanied us last night, Hudson." Goliath then said to the older Gargoyle, confusing the trio and the Beast.

"Hudson?" Red vocalised their confusion.

"Aye, it's my name. And what would you make of it?" He asked them, clearly challenging them to question the choice of name.

"It's a fine name." Aqua replied, clearly not wanting to challenge him.

"Hudson. Uh, I-I like it." Olive agreed with him.

"And besides, Justin named me Bellatrix." Bellatrix informed them, making said human smile with pride.

"And I'm now named Harlem." Harlem added.

"We should choose names, too. Names that suit our new lives here." Red admitted, seeing that every other Gargoyle had names and he definitely doesn't want to be left out.

"Oh? And what might they be?" Goliath grinned. Justin raised an eyebrow, curious what names Red, Olive and Aqua choose, and even the Beast.

"Mmm… Brooklyn. I'm Brooklyn." The beaked Gargoyle came to his decision.

"I like it." Diana confessed, which had him blush by the compliment.

"Broadway." Aqua decided.

"Ooh… Lexington. Do you like it?" Olive asked. Justin, Goliath and Hudson looked at each other with smirks, liking the names for sure. They fit them well.

"They're all fine names. I guess he'll need one as well now." Goliath said, gesturing to the Beast.

"Oh, I've got one for him, too. From now on, you're Bronx." Brooklyn said, patting Bronx's head. The Beast grumbled and walked off, leaving him stunned, which had Diana laugh and Justin snort in amusement.

"*laughs* I think he likes it." Lexington remarked.

Everyone then heard someone clearing their throat and they saw Owen step out from the archway and looked directly at both Goliath and Harlem.

Both Gargoyles entered into the Great Hall, where Owen told them to meet with Xanatos.

"You wish to see us, Xanatos?" Goliath asked immediately.

"Yes. There's someone here I want you both to meet. An old acquaintance, I believe." The man told them, pointing to the door to his left, which opened and the two could faintly see a figure standing in the shadows.

"Who?" Harlem asked. The figure stepped out of the shadows and upon laying their eyes on the teal skin and short, spiky yellow hair, both Goliath and especially Harlem gasped in shock as Harlem's mate stood before them, alive and well.

"What? You're alive?" Harlem questioned, his shock also present in his voice.

"My love." She spoke, her passion present on her features and her voice as the two embraced each other, wings wrapped around each other. Goliath himself was happy to see her alive and well, though it made him remember his mate and sadness filled his heart.

Harlem looked into her eyes as she did with his and after several seconds, they hugged again.

"I can't believe it. It really is you, my love." He said, shedding tears of joy as he was stroking her hair.

"My mate. All the days that I've dreamed of you and this moment." She said, stroking his hair as well. She then noticed Goliath for the first time.

"Goliath. It's good to see you well." She greeted him as she and Harlem parted.

"Same for you, sister." He nodded.

"*clears throat* I'm very happy for you." Xanatos spoke up, interrupting the reunion.

"This man has brought us together, my love. We owe our reunion to David Xanatos." Harlem's mate revealed, shocking the two brothers.

"But… how? You were shattered by the Vikings." Harlem recollected.

"No. I feared for your safety, so I left the castle to find you. But I lost my way and the sun rose before I could return." She explained.

"But how did you survive all these centuries, considering your affliction?" Goliath asked in confusion.

"When I returned to the castle, the Magus had already turned you to stone. I begged him to cast his spell on me so that I might awaken and be with you again." She answered the lavender Gargoyle.

"I saw her a year ago and was so impressed, I acquired her for my private collection. Then after I woke you all up, it seemed plausible that a trip to the castle might have the same effect on her." Xanatos revealed how he woke her up.

"Now that you're alive, I feel like I can live again as well." Harlem stated, looking tenderly at his mate.

"We are one after all." She added.

They met up with everyone else and those that were a part of the Wyvern Clan were stunned to see that Harlem's mate was alive, especially Justin. They all greeted her, Bronx even standing on his hind legs and licking her face.

"I'll answer your questions later. It's just so good to see all of you again." She told them before Justin launched himself onto her and embraced her, face buried in her shoulder and shedding tears.

"I'm so glad you're alive." He told her. She was shocked that he was alive after centuries and so she hugged him.

"How?" She asked.

"The Magus cast me with immortality." He told her as they parted and he wiped the tears away.

"And we have more company, lass." Hudson then said, gesturing to Diana and Athena, surprising Harlem's mate.

"Hello, there." Diana greeted her. She nodded and looked over at Harlem.

"My love, I must ask a favour of you."

"Anything." Harlem replied, still elated from her still being alive.

"Xanatos has told me of the disks that were stolen from him." She said, forming the shape of the disks with her fingers.

"Yes, he wants our help in retrieving them." Goliath told her.

"Yes and I think we should help him. Out of gratitude for our reunion, if nothing else." Harlem's mate reasoned. While Goliath was weary of Xanatos, thanks to what his son told him, they'll just have to play along for now.

"I agree. Perhaps, by helping him, we can rid ourselves of the humans that hunt us." Goliath agreed, noticing the look on his son's face, which was frowning slightly.

"Besides, with you with us, I can do anything." Harlem said, nuzzling his mate's hand.

The whole clan, Athena and Diana having been accepted into, gathered around the monitor in Xanatos' office.

"I've explained the strengths and weaknesses of each fortress, and given you what I think are the best plans of attack. Only your speed and strength can stand against their defenses." The businessman told everyone.

"We will take the air fortress." Goliath said, pointing to himself, Harlem, his mate and Justin. He was curious to see how his son would be in regards to combat after centuries of experience.

"You four will breach the tower." He then pointed to the trio and Bellatrix.

"Cool." Brooklyn pumped his fists.

"What?" Goliath asked, confused by what he just said, which amused Justin so much.

"It's a modern term, father. They clearly adapt quicker than others." His son explained.

"Yes, it indicates a positive response." Lexington further explained. Goliath made sounds, clearly not used to it and will have to hear it some more times until he is familiar with it.

"Hudson, the underground base is yours. But take Bronx, Diana and Athena with you." Goliath then ordered, surprising the old Gargoyle, who looked offended.

"I'm perfectly capable of-"

"Take them with you. He needs the exercise and our new clan members should learn from you, being the most experienced out of all of us." "Goliath cut him off. Bronx growled as though he said thanks.

"Don't worry, Hudson, we're more capable than you think." Diana assured, sounding slightly offended that Hudson may have thought that she and Athena weren't capable of fighting in combat.

"Be careful, all of you. Humans are much more dangerous in these times." Goliath then cautioned the clan.

"Come on, then." Hudson sand and everyone in the clan left the office, leaving Xanatos, who narrowed his eyes with a grin.

Hudson, Bronx, Diana and Athena had already left for the underground base when the rest of the clan got up to the tower.

"Let's go!" Brooklyn said as he, Broadway and Lexington followed after him in the air. Bellatrix looked at Justin and squeezed his hand.

"Be careful, okay?" She advised.

"Same for you." He replied and she nodded before following after the trio.

"They'd better not be harmed." Goliath murmured with concern.

"They are young and impetuous, but they are also warriors, trained by the best." Harlem's mate replied, holding Harlem's hand. Justin then got on his father's back and wrapped his arms around his chest.

"Soaring with you again would be like a dream, my warrior." Harlem told her.

"We've dreamed for a thousand years, Harlem. It's time for our dreams to come true." She said before she, Harlem and Goliath glided in the air, the latter carrying Justin.

They used the air currents to glide all the way up to where the clouds were and reached the air fortress. Initially, they got stopped by the downdraft by the rotors, making Goliath and Justin spin, but they were able to push against it and grab onto antennae for support underneath the air fortress. Harlem then ripped open a hole in the hull of the ship with his talons and they all climbed aboard into a corridor.

"The disk will no doubt be well guarded." Harlem theorised as Justin got off of his father.

"If humans wish to throw away their worthless lives guarding it, that's their concern." His mate coldly shrugged off, walking ahead. Her words and behaviour took the other three aback.

"This way." She told them, ignoring their surprised expressions.

The four walked down the corridor, keeping their eyes open for anything like a trap or cameras until…

"Hold it right there!" A voice ordered them, a gun being cocked. The four turned to see two men with guns pointing at them.

"You won't fire those guns in here. You could damage the airship." Harlem's mate coolly and smugly warned them, walking up to them with her eyes glowing red.

"Don't bet your life on it, monster." One of the men spat.

"It's too risky." Goliath said right before the female went into a charge.

"Stand back. I'm warning you." The man warned as she launched onto a wall and jumped off with a snarl onto him, making him fire a shot.

Justin bolted right towards the other man, who ran back. He was about to fire his gun with Justin reached him, grabbed his wrist and squeezed it, making the man scream in pain and drop the gun from his hand, which fired a bullet, hitting a pipe and smoke emitted from it and then Justin threw kicks and punches that hit him on some pressure points brutally, taking him down.

Both his father and Harlem were surprised by the style of fighting Justin showcased and how brutal he was. Clearly his time throughout history and learning from many made him someone not to be messed with.

"The gunfire may alert the others. We'd better hurry." Goliath pointed out. Harlem's mate grabbed one of the two men and lifted him up, holding him over the hole.

"Wait! What are you doing?" Harlem asked, grabbing her free arm to stop her.

"What does it look like? I'm making sure they don't cause us more trouble later." She answered.

"No! To kill in the heat of battle is one thing, but not like this." Harlem snapped at her, which made her glare at him.

"The centuries have made you weak, Harlem." She replied, throwing the man to the wall before storming off.

"What happened to her?" Justin asked, genuinely shocked by her behaviour. He never saw her like this back in the 10th century. Neither his father or Harlem knew how to answer and they just followed after her.

Bellatrix and the trio had managed to reach the tower and landed at the very top.

"The magic in this century is so… so…" Lexington tried to explain.

"Cool?" Brooklyn guessed what word he was looking for.

"Exactly." The olive gargoyle nodded.

"There's more than just the magic, trust me." Bellatrix hinted since her tour with Justin showcased more of what the city offered.

"We need a way in." Brooklyn then said, looking around until he spotted a steel hatchway next to Broadway.

"No problem." He said, cracking his fingers and then used his strength to rip it off its hinges. After peering in, the four climbed down the ladder.

"Xanatos said it's four floors down." Brooklyn recollected before he pried open the elevator doors to see a long elevator shaft.

"Whoo. This isn't like elevators back in the castle." Broadway pointed out.

"That's because that down there is the elevator." Bellatrix pointed down the shaft where the ropes ended.

"Hmm. Not enough room to glide down." Lexington noticed the space this shaft had.

"Hmm. We'll just use this rope here in the middle." Brooklyn pointed at the four ropes that were in the centre of the shaft before he jumped onto one and slid down it. Broadway and Lexington looked at each other unsure until Bellatrix jumped onto one of the ropes and slid down as well with no hesitation. With that, the two jumped on and slid down.

"One… two… three… four. Looks like this is it." Brooklyn counted down until they reached the floor and he jumped off the rope and started to pry open the elevator doors.

"This is easy. We'll have that disk and be back in time for supper." Broadway noted, making Bellatrix wince.

"I think you might have jinxed us." She told him.

And she was proven right because when Brooklyn managed to pry the doors open, they all looked out into a hallway where some men were pointing guns at them.

"A late supper." Broadway corrected, realising that she was right.

"Heh. Sorry, wrong floor." Brooklyn grinned before they were all fired upon. They all took cover in the shaft and crawled their way up to the floor above where Broadway pried those doors open and they dived into the hallway to avoid being shot at. Then an alarm blared out as they all stood up.

"Now what?" Lexington asked.

In the lab on the fourth floor, the scientists all looked towards the door, worried for who would come since they heard the alarm. However, the ceiling was punched through, causing the lights to flicker off and the scientists backed off in a panic in time to see the Gargoyles jump in.

The emergency lights kicked in and Broadway spread his wings, snarling.

Brooklyn then grabbed one scientist that had short black hair and glasses and lifted him up by his lab coat.

"Where is the disk?" He snarled as his eyes glowed white for a few seconds to intimidate him. The scientist, not wanting to face his fury, pointed behind the group.

"Let's see…" Lexington murmured as he walked up to a console. He pressed a button, which luckily made the disk eject and grabbed it in his hand.

"Got it!" He informed his fellow Gargoyles.

The door to the lab opened and those armed men peeked in. Seeing this, both Bellatrix and Brooklyn slammed themselves against it, closing it.

"We need to go, now!" She advised everyone. Broadway turned and picked up a large piece of machinery from the floor and threw it at one of the many windows, shattering it open. All of the Gargoyles then jumped out and glided away from the tower.

"We did it!" Lexington cheered.

"Nice job on that console, Lex." Bellatrix praised him, which made his cheeks flush.

"Yeah. Let's get back to the castle." Brooklyn said and they all headed back to the Eyrie Building.

Down in the underground base, a guard marched up to the person in charge to inform him of what just happened at the tower.

"Sir, central reports that Station One has been breached." He said.

"Any details?" The one in charge asked.

"Well, they sounded rather hysterical, sir. There was talk of… monsters." The guard explained.

"Hmm, I see. I want security here increased!"

In an abandoned underground tunnel, Hudson, Diana, Bronx and Athena walked their way down the railway with the sound of water drops hitting the ground echoing.

"I'm still not sure how we got talked into doing this." Hudson groaned.

"Oh, stop complaining." Diana rolled her eyes until they all stopped at the entrance to the underground base. They then heard a faint whirring and looked up to see a camera pointing at them.

"Here's a problem." Hudson said before they then heard beeping from the camera.

In the base itself, the man in charge saw on the monitor both Hudson and Diana up against the entrance, trying to figure out a way in. The man was slack jawed, seeing that those reports were actually true.

"How do we get in?" Diana questioned before they heard guns cocking behind them.

They turned to see a whole platoon of guards with guns pointed at them. They were about to attack when one of the guards activated a beam of light on them, blinding them.

"I don't know what sort of things you are, but I'm betting you're not bulletproof." One of the guards remarked.

"Aye, it's a wager you'd win." Hudson agreed as he and Diana put their arms up in a surrendering gesture. The entrance then opened up and they both turned, walking forward with the guards still pointing their guns on them.

Suddenly, both Bronx and Athena growled and lept onto a couple of the guards, throwing them onto the ground. Then Hudson grabbed a guard, throwing him to some others while Diana made a powerful kick on another, launching the guard into the rest.

Both Beasts then faced and snarled at the man in charge, who pulled out a pistol, pointing it at them.

"Leave them alone!" Diana roared at him as she and Hudson rammed into him, making him fire a stray shot into one of the machines, which sparked and started a fire, making many there run for safety.

Taking advantage of the situation, Diana decided to find the button on the console to eject the disk since she's more familiar with technology. After a short while searching, she found the button, pressed it and the disk came out.

"Got it! "She informed Hudson as she grabbed it.

"Bronx, Athena!" Hudson called the two Beasts who snarled at the guards, keeping an eye on them. They ran over to them as the man in charge of the base got up on a console and slammed his hand down on a red button, which started to close the entrance.

All four Gargoyles ran at top speed and leaped through the gap just in time to escape.

"Agh, I'm getting too old for this." Hudson groaned, rubbing his lower back.

"And I haven't been in situations this intense." Diana confessed right before gunfire drew their attention down the tunnel to see the muzzle flashes from the guards' guns.

The four saw a nearby ladder and so they all climbed up and entered the pathway that led them away from the tunnel.

They ran as they were being followed until they reached a metal catwalk of some kind.

"We'll be sitting ducks in here right enough!" Hudson exclaimed as he and Diana took cover from the gunfire before running down the catwalk with the Beasts.

Then suddenly, a horn from an approaching train rang out and they saw the headlights from the train getting closer.

Seeing that they can use it to get out there, Hudson ripped out a part of the catwalk and all four Gargoyles jumped onto the train, making large dents that shocked the passengers within.

Eventually, the train came out of the tunnel and then both Hudson and Diana grabbed Bronx and Athena in their arms before spreading their wings out and they got in the air, being launched onto the rooftop of a random building. They all rolled down it though until they reached the flat part of the rooftop.

Both Bronx and Athena were on top of Hudson and Diana, panting and licking their faces.

"Heh, easy girl." Diana chuckled, stroking the top of her head.

"Ach, away with you!" Hudson spat at Bronx, pushing the Beast off of him and both he and Diana got up on their feet.

"You need to be losing some weight, and that's a fact. Be like Athena." He then scolded the Beast.

"Anyway, we got the disk." Diana moved on from the subject, holding out the disk.

"I hope this wee thing's worth the aches I'll be feeling later." Hudson admitted as he took the disk from her.

Up in the airship, the captain of the vessel looked at a monitor on the bridge showing him what had happened.

"Stations One and Two have been breached, we've lost two thirds of the data." He said.

The door to the bridge was then kicked open and there stood Goliath, Justin, Harlem and his mate

"Wrong. You've lost it all." She corrected him as her companions entered the bridge. Both Goliath and Harlem spread their wings wide, intimidating everyone in the bridge. Harlem then turned and spun his tail at the two guards, knocking them off their feet and their guns out of their hands. Justin then grabbed one of their guns and pointed it at the scientists, keeping an eye on them.

"Who… what are you?" The captain stuttered as Goliath lifted him off his feet.

Harlem's mate then gets up to the console and seemingly knows how it works as she presses a button and the disk ejects.

"Mission accomplished." She said and then decided to punch the console and then pull out a large wire which shot out sparks. She then pressed it against some machinery which caused it to go up in flames.

"Hurry." She said to her mate, Goliath and Justin, walking past them as the alarm started blaring and the fire lit the bridge.

"What have you done?" Harlem asked in shock of her actions as Justin dropped the gun and joined the Gargoyles.

"Come on. We have to get out of here." She said as she kicked open a hatch, coughing from the smoke.

"No, we can't just leave them here!" Goliath pointed out as the crew of the airship were busy trying to put the fire out and get systems back to normal. The airship however started rocking in the air.

"Let's go. Now!" Harlem's mate demanded, pulling him towards the hatch. Goliath had no choice so he grabbed his son, carrying him in his arms and followed them out and glided away from the airship, one of its rotors exploding and starting to descend towards the river.

Two more rotors exploded right before it crashed into the river. Some of the crew jumped out into the water before the ship exploded.

By the shore, Elisa stopped her car and exited to see the aftermath. Up where the smoke was pillaring into the sky, she saw the outlines of Goliath (also seeing Justin in his arms), Harlem and his mate gliding away.

"What are you guys doing?" She questioned.

Over at the castle on top of the Eyrie Building, they landed on the tower, meeting back up with everyone else and Xanatos. Harlem's mate then handed the disk to Xanatos.

"My friends, you have my profound thanks. Rest assured that the knowledge on these disks will be put to beneficial use for humans and Gargoyles alike." He said to the whole clan before walking off.

"Me and Goliath have promised to meet a friend. We'll be back soon." Harlem informed his mate before he and his brother started to walk off.

"A friend, who? Not one of us?" She demanded an answer.

"No. A human. Elisa Maza." Harlem answered her.

"Aside from Xanatos, we have no human friends, nor should we. Humanity is our enemy, Harlem. I thought you learned that a millennium ago." She replied, getting a bit heated.

"You're asking me to make war with the entire world! I can't do that. Shouldn't Xanatos and even Justin prove that there are good humans, as well as bad? Besides, Justin trusts Elisa with his life." Harlem retorted. Both Goliath and Justin looked at each other, both clearly not trusting Xanatos as much as Harlem.

"Can you forgive the humans for what they did to our kind?" His mate asked him.

"The ones responsible for that have been dead for a thousand years." Goliath told her, frowning.

"Then their descendants shall pay! I will have blood for blood!" She snapped, shocking everyone, especially Harlem and Justin.

"You say that the centuries have changed me. I think you're the one that's changed. You've become much harder, unforgiving. You're not how I remember you. Me and Goliath are going to see my friend now." Harlem said, feeling hurt. She was shocked by his words as he and Goliath walked off to glide and meet up with Elisa.

"So be it." His mate coolly spat as she and the clan watched them glide off.

Xanatos and Owen watched the monitor showing footage of the clan before it shut off.

"Both Goliath and Harlem, it seems, are too hard to control. Hmm, a pity." He said, hand resting against his chin in thought.

Both Goliath and Harlem were heading back to the skyscraper where they previously met up with Elisa and landed in front of her.

"Where have you two been? I've been looking all over town for you!" She instantly asked them.

"Why?" Goliath asked.

"Three Cyberbiotics installations have reported robberies by some kind of creatures and a young man, and I saw you two, Justin and another Gargoyle flying away from the plane wreck. What's this all about?" Elisa demanded answers.

"The disks were stolen from Xanatos. We returned them all to him." Harlem replied. She then went into one of her pockets and pulled out a sheet of paper that had that logo on the transmitter. She then handed it to Harlem for him and Goliath to look at.

"Remember this? I traced that emblem. It's the logo of the robotics firm that's owned by, are you ready? Xanatos Enterprises." She revealed to the two.

"Are you saying that Xanatos is responsible for the attack in the park?" Goliath asked for confirmation, seeing that his son's suspicions of Xanatos might be true.

"That's exactly what I'm saying. He probably planted that bug on you himself." Elisa confirmed. He remembered how Xanatos placed his hands on his shoulders and back, meaning he must've put it on there during one of those instances.

"But those were the same men who stole the disks from him." Harlem pointed out, confused as to what she told them.

"Harlem, nothing was stolen. I checked. Those disks were Cyberbiotics' property. He must've staged the theft to trick you into stealing the disks. He used you. He's been using you from the beginning!" She bluntly explained, surprising Harlem, but further made Goliath see what his son said.

"My son warned me that Xanatos couldn't be trusted. It seems that he is right." Goliath noted. Elisa knew that Justin never liked Xanatos so it made sense he'd tell his father this.

"Listen, Harlem. I know we haven't known each other very long and I know you and Goliath don't have any good reason to trust humans…" She said, making Harlem snarl and look away. Elisa gently grabbed his face by his cheeks and made him look at her directly.

"... but you've got to trust somebody in this world with Justin. And I think you'd be better off with me than Xanatos." She continued. Considering how she helped him and Goliath in the park and how Justin trusts her without question, she's right, especially with Justin's warning about Xanatos. He looked back at the sheet of paper and crumbled it up in his fist, growling at the fact that he was used like some tool. Goliath placed a reassuring hand on his brother's shoulder.

"You won't regret it." Elisa promised.

Back at the castle, Justin was walking through, further soaking in that he's back in his old home when he heard Xanatos' voice coming from the Great Hall. Deciding to see what it's about, he quietly made his way up to the large doors and leaned against them to listen in.

"I'm afraid the Gargoyles and Justin have outlived their usefulness. I can't count on their loyalty, especially since Justin might figure out my plan and free our prisoner, but now, with the data on those disks, I can bring their replacements online." Xanatos said, making Justin frown and grit his teeth, seething that this man is planning to attack his clan, his family. But also was curious about this prisoner and wondered if this prisoner was in that room where prisoners were kept long ago since he heard noises coming from within.

"Three hours until dawn. We need only to wait until they sleep again-" He heard Owen talk.

"No… you need to test these replacements, do you not?" He then heard Harlem's mate cut him off. Justin's eyes widened in horror. Harlem's own mate, someone he saw as his aunt, betraying him and his clan. He would never think that would happen but it seems to be the case. Justin walked off quietly to see who this prisoner is and why Xanatos doesn't want him to free them.

Up on the tower, Brooklyn was sitting on a pedestal with Lexington. He was wearing some sunglasses while Lexington was on a laptop.

"*sighs* You know, I think I'm gonna like this century." Brooklyn admitted. Near them, Broadway was sitting at a table with a whole bunch of food to eat. He was currently eating Chinese food.

"Yeah, we had a little trouble adjusting at first but, I think everything's gonna be fine now." He said before a laser hit and destroyed the food in his hand.

"Whoa!" He exclaimed.

The laser came from what looked to be a robotic version of Goliath among four others. Standing with them were Xanatos, Harlem's mate and Owen.

"Attack." Xanatos gave the order so casually. The robots then spread their sharp metal wings and then their thrusters activated, flying past the trio up in the air.

"What are those things?" Broadway asked as Bellatrix and Diana joined them.

One of the robots then aimed a laser that came out of its arm and fired at them, though they all dodged the lasers and glided away, Brooklyns glasses flying off.

One of the robots then fired at Broadway, though they narrowly missed and he clung onto a lower part of the tower. The brick he held onto however broke apart and he fell on the castle wall, incapacitated for now.

"What did I tell you, Owen? Vast improvement! They're steel instead of stone, they don't sleep during the day, they can fly instead of glide and, best of all, they're 100% obedient." Xanatos bragged.

Lexington was being chased by a robot, which honed in and tracked him and fired a laser, which grazed him and he fell until he was caught by Brooklyn. He then glided, struggling slightly due to Lexington's weight and was about to turn a corner when the robot hovered and aimed to hit him.

But before it could, both Goliath and Harlem flew in and rammed into it and slammed it against the castle wall, causing it to explode before the brothers glided off to Brooklyn.

"Give him to me." Goliath told him and dropped Lexington into his arms and then glided off to Broadway, who was covered in rubble. Harlem landed and helped his brother move it away so that he could place Lexington with him.

The robots fired non stop at all the other Gargoyles. Brooklyn flew down to a stone pillar, one of many to help hold up the castle and he grabbed onto it before climbing up.

Hudson ran outside upon hearing the explosions, confused with Bronx and Athena by his side.

"What's all the noise?" He asked, confused when Bellatrix landed in front of him.

"We're being attacked!" She informed him and they looked up to see one of the robots flying right to them and fired a couple of laser beams, which they jumped away from. Bronx barked and bit onto its tail as it flew past them. With the extra weight from the Beast, the robot crashed onto the ground and then it got up and fired a shot at Bronx, who kept avoiding when Hudson pulled out his sword, eyes glowing, and jumped down with a roar and stabbed the robot, cutting its head in half and taking it down.

"Never a dull moment, is there, boy?" He asked Bronx, scratching his chin before charging ahead.

Elsewhere in the Eyrie Building, Elisa ran in and flashed her badge at a security guard, letting him know she's on police business.

Back at the castle, Goliath was chased by a robot when Bellatrix and Diana got on top of it and used their combined strength to control its air movement. They saw another robot approaching and both looked at each other, nodded and pulled the wings of the robot to fly right at the other and then they got off before they collided and exploded, some of the rubble destroying part of the Gargoyle's tower. The rubble rained down on Harlem's mate, Xanatos and Owen, who all ran away.

Goliath landed on the tower, which was noticed by the three.

"Hmm. My Steel Clan isn't performing as well as I'd hoped." Xanatos noticed.

"There's only one robot left." Harlem's mate reminded him.

"I think it's up to us, my dear." Xanatos said before they all entered the castle.

Elsewhere in the castle, Justin had heard the commotion outside and while he was concerned for his clan, he had to find out who the prisoner was.

He had reached the door leading to the castle prison and there he opened the door and entered. Once he closed the door back up and looked back in the room, he froze upon seeing a figure being chained up against the wall.

This figure was a female human and what shocked him was that she bore a resemblance to his Gargoyle mother. Down to her large red hair, gold jewellery, halter top and loincloth. She looked up at him and her face looked like a human version of her for sure, including her green eyes. He had to make sure who it was.

"Mother?" He questioned her as he walked up to her. She looked at him, eyes wide and examined his hair, face and even his necklace. She audibly gasped upon realising who it was.

"J-Justin?" She asked, eyes welling up that her son was still alive all these centuries. Justin gasped as well upon hearing that familiar voice. This person in front of him is his mother, somehow alive and in human form.

"B-But… how? Father said y-you were d-dead." He stuttered, eyes watering.

"I'll explain later. I need you to get me out of these chains." She said. Nodding, Justin wiped his eyes and then grabbed the keys that were hanging on the wall and got her out of chains that she wouldn't have gotten out of due to her not being as strong as Harlem or Goliath.

"Thank you, my son." She said as she got on her feet and she then started glowing in a green energy. It was so bright that Justin covered his face to prevent blindness and once it was gone, he looked back at her and she was back in her familiar Gargoyle form.

"Oh, mother." He breathed before embracing her and she embraced him just as strongly. An explosion was heard and this made them part.

"Mother, as much as you may hate it, you need to stay here. I don't want Xanatos to keep you prisoner still." He begged her. Knowing that they just reunited, she nodded, not wanting to lose her son and clan again.

"Very well."

"Once this is over, I can bring you out to the clan. And to father." He promised and then ran out.

Back outside, both Lexington and Broadway started waking up.

"What's going on?" The olive Gargoyle asked, placing a hand on his head due to his headache.

"I don't know, but it's not over yet." Broadway said, seeing the last remaining robot in the air. They jumped out of the way of a laser blast it fired and some more, making them duck.

Up on the tower, Goliath watched on as Brooklyn and Harlem joined him. The three saw the robot in the air and it was about to fire down at all the other Gargoyles who gathered together.

"Quickly!" Goliath told the two and they all pushed against a part of the tower that could be broken apart.

With all their strength, they pushed the tower wall until it fell apart and fell on top of the robot, causing it to explode.

"And they say the Middle Ages were barbaric." Hudson commented.

"We won, dude!" Brooklyn cheered.

"Dude?" Both Goliath and Harlem repeated in confusion of the word.

"You haven't won anything, fools!" Harlem's mate sneered from the castle wall, pointing a rocket launcher at them while Xanatos aimed a rifle at the rest of the clan.

She fired the rocket launcher and it hit the tower just as the three jumped off, but they got thrown from the force of the explosion.

Brooklyn planted in front of the clan face first.

"Brooklyn!" Diana shouted in concern, helping him back up.

Both Goliath and Harlem landed on the castle wall where the latter's mate and Xanatos stood.

"What are you doing?!" Harlem asked her, shocked by her actions. Hudson pulled out his sword, ready to help but…

"Hold it. Let's just let them play out their little drama, shall we?" Xanatos told them.

"Harlem, you and Goliath are fools. But then you always were, weren't you? If only you, Goliath, had taken the rest of our clan away from the castle that night… the plan was perfect." She told the two Gargoyles facing her.

"Plan?"

"It would've succeeded."

"What plan?" Goliath demanded answers, as did Harlem.

"Me and your mate made a bargain with the Captain. We were to get us all out of the castle so that the Vikings could sack it." She revealed, shocking the two so much about this revelation.

"What?" They questioned in unison.

"It would have worked. And after the humans were gone, we would've had the castle all to ourselves! But you both ruined it. You just had to protect the humans. You made us all stay at the castle when we should've been with you! When the Vikings attacked, the Captain said he'd protect us. But I didn't trust him. I've stayed alive because I don't trust anyone." She then explained. Hearing this made Goliath's heart sink at the fact that his mate and Justin's mother made a deal with the Captain which ended up resulting in the loss of their clan members. And Harlem was devastated that his mate would do such a thing.

"Why? Why would you do such a thing?!" He shouted in sorrow.

"You can ask me that? After how they treated us? How they treated Justin? They had to pay! All humanity has to pay for what they did to our kind!" His mate snapped at him, shocking everyone in the clan, seeing how far gone she is in her hatred.

"There is good and evil in everyone, not just mankind, but also us Gargoyles. You should know this more than others! Don't you get it? It's because of you all of this happened!" Harlem accused her, pointing a talon at her.

"Don't say that! Harlem, this is your last chance. Humanity is a poison that must be purged from this planet. Together, you and I can create a new world for our kind. You trusted me once. You loved me once. We have found each other again after a thousand years of solitude. Does that mean nothing to you?" His mate retorted. He shed tears, seeing that she is too far gone to be brought back to the light, that the Gargoyle he fell in love with is gone forever. His silence was the answer she got.

"Very well, then. If you are not my ally, then you are my enemy." She said, eyes now glowing red before she fired the rocket launcher again, which Harlem and Goliath dodged but it hit the tower, throwing them towards her.

"I have a name too, Harlem. The humans gave it to me long ago. You and Goliath should know it before you die. I am Demona. Goodbye." She sneered, aiming the rocket launcher at Harlem's chest.

"NO!" Justin yelled at the top of his lungs as he and Elisa ran out and tackled her away from Harlem and Goliath, causing her to fire a stray rocket at one of the other towers.

Debris started falling, a piece hitting Xanatos and knocking him out, and the whole top portion of the tower fell down onto the wall and when it hit, it caused the wall to break apart, throwing Demona, Justin and Elisa to plummet, making the latter two scream. Meanwhile, Demona couldn't spread her wings to glide due to the debris falling onto her wings.

Both Goliath and Harlem got in the air and reached for Justin and Elisa. Goliath grabbing his son and Harlem grabbing Elisa. They landed back at the castle and Harlem looked back to see Demona plummet, more than likely to her death.

So overwhelmed by loss, heartache and betrayal, he let out an agonised howl into the sky. He then saw Xanatos starting to wake up and decided to do something about him.

"She wanted me to destroy humanity. I think I'll start with you!" He snarled, grabbing the man by his jacket and holding him out over the edge of the castle.

"Go ahead. Without me, you'd still be gathering moss." Xanatos taunted, showing no fear, making Harlem snarl at him more.

"No, Harlem! Don't do this." Elisa begged him as she and Justin walked up to him.

"Give me one good reason not to drop him." He said.

"Because if you do, you'll be just like Demona." Justin pointed out.

"My son is right, Harlem. Do you want that?" Goliath questioned, feeling so sorry for him.

"*snarls* No." He admitted, knowing that Justin was right. So he threw Xanatos in front of them. Justin stepped a foot on his chest to make sure he didn't go anywhere.

Down on the street, the media were eating up what they were witnessing: Xanatos being arrested and being put in a police vehicle to be taken into custody.

Up at the castle, Justin stood in front of his clan and Elisa.

"Guys, you won't believe who I found. Follow me." He said in a serious manner. They all followed him into the castle and to the prison.

Once they reached the door, he looked back at everyone before opening the door and leading them in. Once everyone was in, they all looked in front of them and were shocked upon seeing Goliath's mate standing in front of them, very much alive.

"My… my Angel?" Goliath whispered.

"Goliath…" She also whispered. Hearing her voice made him instantly embrace her and she embraced him back, shedding tears of joy to see that her mate is here in front of her.

"I never thought I'd see you again." Goliath said as they looked into each other's eyes.

"Same for me, my love. But here we are, and with our son." She replied.

"Lass. Demona told us that you and her made a bargain with the Captain. Was she telling the truth?" Hudson asked, instantly making the reunion sour as she looked guilty and Justin looked shocked as he had heard what Demona had said.

"Mother… please tell me that's not true." He begged her, not wanting to hear that she helped enact an atrocity. She simply stepped back and sighed before looking at the clan, and the newcomers.

"It's true. All I wanted was our clan to be safe. But upon seeing almost all the clan destroyed, the rest in Stone Sleep, and fearing that our son was gone, I succumbed to so much heartache and sorrow, knowing it was my fault it all happened." She first explained, tears forming and trickling down her cheeks, her guilt rising to the surface.

"I knew I had to atone for what I did so I promised myself to protect mankind as much as I can throughout the centuries. A few months ago, Demona and Xanatos captured me and kept me prisoner to ensure I didn't ruin their plans." She then elaborated, shedding more tears before looking directly at her mate and son.

"Goliath, Justin. I swear, I've now seen that there is good in humanity. That I was wrong to judge them so harshly. I beg that you forgive me for my actions." She begged, wanting the two back in her life after centuries of loneliness. The entire clan and Elisa looked at the father-son duo, who stood where they were, deep in thought about what she told them.

Justin was the first to move. He walked up to her and she was scared that he'd disown her for her initial betrayal but to her shock, he hugged her tightly and he started crying tears of happiness.

"Justin?"

"I forgive you." He told her as he gripped her red hair tightly and covered his face in it.

"You made up for your actions by learning from your mistakes and protecting mankind. I forgive you, too, my Angel of the Night." Goliath told her and he too hugged her, wrapping his wings around her and their son. Everyone smiled, seeing that some good has come out of this whole thing.

After the reunion, Justin said that he became immortal by the Magus to Goliath's mate, who revealed her ability to turn human, which shocked everyone but then she reunited with the rest of the clan and greeted both Diana and Athena, welcoming them into the clan. Then she was introduced to Elisa and upon hearing how much she's helped the clan and that her son trusts him, she welcomed her and thanked her for her help.

Everyone then got outside and Harlem stood, looking out at the city with Elisa and Hudson behind him.

"You did the right thing, lad." Hudson told Harlem.

"Do you think she survived?" He asked the elder Gargoyle.

"If she did, we'll know soon enough, I imagine." Hudson replied.

With the others, Brooklyn looked around as Lexington, Broadway, Bellatrix and Diana walked to their pedestals.

"Hey, where are my sunglasses?" Brooklyn asked before Bronx ran up to him, sunglasses in his jaw.

"Thanks, Bronx." The beaked Gargoyle thanked the Beast. He put them on only for the glass lenses to shatter and fall apart. This made Diana laugh, finding the sight funny and this made Brooklyn blush in embarrassment.

"Wish I had time for a snack." Broadway confessed.

"You just ate." Lexington reminded him.

"I know. Chinese food. It was good, too. But for some reason, about an hour later, I was hungry again." Broadway said.

"That's what happens when you eat fried food. Same thing happened to me when I first had some." Diana related to Broadway.

Higher up on the tower, Goliath and Harlem got on their pedestals as they conversed with Elisa, Goliath's mate and Justin. Goliath's mate revealed that because of her ability, she is able to be in her Gargoyle form in broad daylight so she didn't need to be ready for Stone Sleep.

"It's nice to know we have at least one human friend in this new world." Harlem said, looking directly at Elisa with a smile on his face.

"I hope you have more. Lots more. But whether you do or not, I'll always be your friend, Harlem." She replied softly, smiling fondly at the grey Gargoyle.

"And I'm happy that our family is whole again." Goliath added, looking at his mate and son.

"Same time tomorrow night?" She then asked.

"I wouldn't miss it." Harlem nodded.

"Good. Maybe we'll catch a Giants' game." Elisa suggested.

"Giants?" Harlem repeated, confused as to what he meant, amusing everyone else as the sun rose and all the Gargoyles, except for Justin's mother, turned to stone.

"Hmm. I wonder if this city's ready for you guys." Elisa said.

"Even if it's not, we'll be staying regardless." Justin's mother said before she glowed green and turned into her human form.

"Come on, mother, let's go to my home where we can rest." Justin said, leading her away.

This is a mammoth of a chapter, the largest I've wrote to date. Now as you saw, Goliath's mate isn't Demona in this story. I just couldn't bear making her a villain since she's a mother to my main OC. With that, I had to create a couple of original Gargoyles to fill in for the drama that both Goliath and Demona had in the show and in turn, have Elisa fall in love with the male Gargoyle.

Of course, Bellatrix will be Justin's love interest and both Diana and Athena are the love interests of both Brooklyn and Bronx. There will be another original Gargoyle later on that will be Lexington's love interest.

I should also mention that in this story, Gargoyles, Mutates and Half-Gargoyles will be immortal.
