Silent Journey
Author Notes: So someone may've gotten obsessed with a new game she got on her new switch...And well. It's holiday hell season~ Misery loves company and though this technically doesn't follow sen's theme request...he's not going to read this anyways since he's never played it!
In either case there may be some spoilers in this holiday one shot, but this is not based on a canon cutscene or anything. Go play the game seriously-royal treat. Ahem...I do not own YS Monstrum Nox
3rd P.O.V
It was quiet when she made it back into town. Snow was gently falling onto the ground, blanketing the world in white. A stark contrast to her black attire and golden, metallic limbs. She huffs out a tired sigh, watching with weary eyes as it forms a little cloud before disintegrating before her eyes.
"Another year." She was...unsure exactly of how long she had been doing this. Fighting the lemures within the Grimwald Nox, walking on what felt like a never ending path for peace. Her wounds throbs beneath the bandages, freezing as a harsh gale blows at her thin frame.
It was painful, but nothing she wasn't used to. She's long gone numb to the pain. However the silence around her was a different story. This was yet another winter season where she was alone. Both in terms of combat and company. And frankly she didn't like it.
For so long she was surrounded by wonderful, colorful individuals that made the life she's lived a little more tolerable. The destiny she was given more bearable. Now her surroundings seem so bleak as the days go on. Her future and the future of the world unpredictable.
The silence was unwanted, so much so that she purposely scrunches her feet into the snow a bit harder than necessary. Ignoring the stinging sensation as snow fell onto her ankles. It didn't matter so long as there was something for her to listen to.
To distract her from the negative thoughts swarming her mind. It doesn't work. Yet she still walks on, without meaning to traveling to certain points within the city. Balduq was a large place, full of different districts each with a variety of specialized goods.
Of course with how late into the night and how harshly the snow was falling no one was out. Not that she was even in the mood to search for supplies. She had plenty on her. And it wasn't the stalls she found herself struggling to make her way towards.
Krysha, daughter of the esteemed Pendleton family. Credo Aiblinger, a knight in training among the Hieroglyph Church. Anemona Rijndael, the mascot doll of the Rijdael Antique shop. Yufa Gamberg, a hard working waitress and farmer. And Jules Noah, son Doctor Smirnov Noah.
All both familiar yet strangers to her. All burdened with a fate akin to her. Her hands wanted to reach out to them, to tell them the truth of their origins and be within their presence. It was a strong desire, to enter each of their territories to set them on their journey early.
Though she held it in, a part of her was relieved that it was not yet time for them to follow the road that would soon be made for them. Still as she walked by each of their homes, there is guilt that buries itself deep within her heart.
"I hope all of you will forgive me for what will have to happen." Knowing what she will have to do. Because eventually, the monsters will grow stronger, so much so that she will be unable to handle them all on her own. Her time was running out.
And that means she would have to disrupt the lives they were building for themselves. Forcing them to fight a war they shouldn't have to. However...there was still one more individual missing that prevented things from setting into motion. "Adol Christin." Adol the Red. Adol the Swordsman. Adol the Adventurer.
He was a man of many skills, able to overwrite the laws of fate itself. He was the key to everything. The missing link. "Soon my Monstrums, the darkness will come, and it will be up to you to carry on the burdens of the past." There was no guarantee she would be there to see the end.
There isn't even any promise that this war will actually end. But for as long as possible, as long as there is breath in her lungs she will keep on. Walking. "Seems you haven't had enough..." Raising her pistol she fires, hitting a series of lemures rushing for her flank.
"The time is nigh, let me make waste to all in my path." Blood warmed her flesh as she struck, the world turning in shades of monochrome. The snow stuck in the position it was in when the world froze. "Take this!" She fired again.
Bullets flew, each precisely hitting their mark. However the more she struck, the more that came to attack. There was no one to help her, no one to hear her shouts of pain. So she kept going. It was all she knew how to do anymore.
The end.
Author Notes: Aprilis didn't deserve the pain she had to undergo! She deserves hugs and kisses dammit! Let the poor pretty lady live a life of peace. Ahem, my obsessions with her aside, can I rant at the fact that I couldn't play as her!?
She shot Adol in the head, she is majestic and obviously badass-obviously had experience in battle but I couldn't use her any fights except for her raid skills!? Sigh, the world is so unfair. No offense to all the characters...but i'm biased as all hell.
Now with that out of the way, thank you all so much for reading. Again not sure if this fits Sen's criteria but again-highly doubt he's going to read it, especially since he hasn't played it yet and I have been praising this game to hell and back lol.
Be sure to check out the other(many-MANY) holiday one shots i've done. And if you like this little one shot please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean the world to me. Tchao for now!
