My Little Pony: The New Era
Chapter 1: 'Kingdom'
My time has come. As I walk down the aisle to my thrown, I think about how I got to where I am. A river of blood does not bring peace, but often times it is by the sword that some climb their way to a goal. Even among the youngest of fillies and colts, I don't see fear in their eyes, but admiration. If I am to be a role model to them, then it starts here.
One must be firm, but never a tyrant. One must be gentle, but not weak-of-hooves. One must be powerful, but not power hungry. If you do something wrong, admit it and not blame somepony else for your mistakes. When a situation is complicated, one must step up and rise to a challenge instead of running away from it. What good will it do for you?
Everypony, civilian, soldier, and royal guard, bowed as I went up those white marble steps. There were even griffons, hippogriffs, kirins, yaks, and dragons present at the Royal Palace in Canterlot. Even the armor of the Royal Guards was different for a changing of the Monarchy of Equestria. They wear burgeonets, half-armors, and armed with halberds.
I was a tan-colored unicorn stallion. I am strong of body and mind with a brown mane and tail, and brown eyes. I am taller than the average stallion, as tall as Princess Celestia, and I keep my mane to a short, but neat, stallion cut. My cutie mark is two swords with the sun between the crossed blades, and crescent moon inside the guards of the swords.
I kneeled before Princess Celestia, and Princess Luna. I closed my eyes and bowed my head to them, "Your Majesties...," I said, I looked up to see their eyes were soft and their smiles were warm and welcoming. Using my unicorn magic, I unsheathed my complex hilt longsword, and laid it down at their hooves as a show of respect, and a show of peace
I was in full-armor from plate armor to brass chainmail with only my tail, flanks and back hooves being the only things unarmored. My armor is blued with gilded patterns which clinked and rattled as I kneeled and bowed my head to the Princesses of the Sun and Moon, "Please...rise," said Princess Celestia, "this day was bound to come, our time is over"
"You have the heart and strength to rule in our place," said Princess Luna, "do not cry for us, for we have ruled these fair lands for over one thousand years, it is only right, and fair, that a change must come, and we both know that you are the one...you are the uphold all that Equestria stands for, I know you will not fail us or these lands that are yours"
A few tears fell as Princess Celestia presented me with my crown gently upon my head. I sniffled, and I smiled as Princess Luna presented me with a scepter, "This is your time, and may the days that follow be blessed with friendship, peace, and harmony for all lands, and for all creatures from now until our time is done," said Princess Celestia unto me,
"Rise, Lumino...," said Princess Celestia
"Rise now, a King...," said Princess Luna
I was in awe that they bestowed such a title on me. Still, I am given such a great honor, and I hope to prove myself worthy to rule the Ponies. I used my magic to sheathe my sword, and I turned to face the crowds. There was clapping, and cheering. 'Long live the King', they cheer. 'Long live the King'. I closed my eyes, and I smiled as I opened them.
"This day does not belong to one pony, but to all," I stated, "to every creature that calls their lands home, we breathe the same air, walk the same lands, by beautiful day and sacred night, I will do my very best and I will try my very hardest to uphold the peace, friendship, and harmony of our lands so firmly engrained to all, I hope to serve you well,"
As I went down the stairs and being escorted by Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, it was Prince Blueblood with a few of his nobles present at her sides that presented me with my wife, my queen, and one I gave my heart to, Estrella. For it was this beautiful mare that saved me from falling off a cliff, and I fell in love with her. How I remember that day.
She was a unicorn at the time. A changeling shot me, and I fell off the side of a mountain trail. Estrella galloped as fast as she could, and dived forward off the trail, and caught me while doing a mid-air rotation. It cost her a dislocated front hoof and back leg. She nursed me back to health, and I did the same for her. I suppose it really was meant to be.
Descended from an ancient bloodline, she matured into a mare a bit bigger than Celestia in the flank area, and some more meat on her bones. She is the most beautiful mare in Equestria. She is a pastel cream color with a short slicked back mane, and perfect tail. As I caressed her cheek, we kissed. 'Long live the Queen' they cheer. 'Long may she reign'
Her cutie mark is similar to Princess Luna's, but the stars on the side of her flanks form the constellation 'Pegasus'. Estrella's bright brown eyes looked up at me, and she smiled warmly as she nuzzled my muzzle, and I nuzzled her muzzle back. Amid the cheering, we presented ourselves to Twilight Sparkle and her Friends, the very Elements of Harmony
Princess Luna had presented Queen Estrella with her crown, and her scepter. They bowed to us, and we bowed back. My Queen Estrella spoke on our behalf, "Should there come a time when we may fall short of our goals, then it will your counsel that we will seek, you have our word, that being his word as King, and my word as Queen," she said warmly,
Princess Celestia and Princess Luna flew to the Havens where they will live in comfort and peace. Their responsibilities have been bestowed upon me and my lovely queen. A new era has arrived in our land's history. Our rule will be fair, and our rule will be wise. May friendship and happiness reign now and forevermore. I am Lumino, First King of Equestria
