Chapter 01: The Way of the Ninja, Here's what i have so far
Outside New York, in the middle of the night, there is a rather large warehouse, which at first glimpse seems abandoned.
However, the fact that there are five men at the gate with alien-looking blasters in their hands may suggest otherwise.
Known to only a few however, these were not men, but Kraangdroids wearing human disguises.
They kept vigilance over everything in front of them, but even though they were solely focused on what's in front of them, they failed to notice four shaded figures quickly zip past them and up the wall surrounding the compound.
Once on the other side of the wall, one would see dozens of guards circling the inner perimeter, more Kraangdroids, this time with no disguises, one could see their mechanical bodies and the pink brain like creatures inside the chests.
The four figures were careful to avoid detection.
They zipped in between cover spots behind a box, in a barrel, any place that could hide them from the Kraangdroids site was used, and the four entered the building through an open window.
Though the outside looked normal, inside, one could see it as a Kraang base due to all the alien surroundings.
Then the four figures enter as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael, also known as the: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
"Alright, here's the plan." Said Leo to his brothers.
"We find out what the Kraang are up to, stop them, and get out." Said Leo as he explained his plan that was simple, even for Mikey.
"I like that plan." Said Raph.
"It's easy to remember." Said Raph as he smirked.
"Yeah, not like when Donnie going on about one of his lame inventions." Said Mikey.
"I'll have you know Mikey, my inventions has helped save all of our shells, and the city, countless times." Said Donnie as the duo glared at each other.
"All right guys that's enough, remember the plan." Said Leo.
The Turtles then began their infiltration.
They quickly made their way deeper and deeper into the Kraang base and were careful to avoid any detection.
They eventually made their way to a large chamber and stuck to the ceiling beams to keep their cover, when they looked down into the chamber they saw a very familiar looking device.
"Um guys, call me crazy, but doesn't that look like the same portal we saw back at T.C.R.I.?" Asked Raph.
Except this one was even worse as there were at least five dozen Kraangdroids guarding it, with five or six working on the portal.
One Kraang, the one that appeared to be in charge, walked up to another one and began to speak in its monotone voice.
"Kraang, we are receiving that which as known as a transmission from the one known as our partner who works with Kraang." Said Kraang with their unusual 'weird' talk.
"Open the transmission that has been transmitted by the one that works with Kraang that is known as our current partner." Said A different Kraang with the same tone of voice.
The Turtles caught wind of the conversation.
"Partner?" Asked Donnie.
"Who in the right mind would be working with them?!" Asked Donnie as he whispered as he almost yelled.
A Kraangdroid walked to a counsel and began typing away and a hologram appeared revealing the Kraang's current partner, and one the Turtles' enemies.
"Greetings, one known as, Karai." Greeted The Kraangdroid.
Each of the Turtles' gasped.
"That's right." Said Leo as he was starting remember.
"The Foot has been working with the Kraang since the Technodrome." Said Leo as he remembered what Kirby said during the first Kraang Invasion.
"There wasn't much activity between the Foot and the Kraang since then, I guess we just forgot the alliance." Said Donnie.
"And if those two teams are the same project about something, then you guess that it has to be big." Said Raph.
"Something big and bad." Said Mikey in agreement.
"And if Karai's part of it, then that must mean Shredder's still away." Said Leo as he noticed Shredder hasn't been seen or heard of since their first enconter with the Footbots.
"What is the status of the new portal?" Asked Karai from the hologram
"That which is known as the portal has yet to reach the state that is known as the state of its completion." Replied A Kraangdroid.
"The Turtles' have all but beaten even with all of our combined forces, the new Footbots are becoming easier targets for them, if we do not act quickly and gather more of your soldiers, our enemies will soon strike and end us." Said Karai.
"Understood, we will accelerate the efforts that need acceleration." Said The Kraangdroid.
"Good, we don't want keep the Shredder waiting, now do we." Said Karai before the hologram cut off.
"Welp, we know their plan, time to smash these bots." Said Raph as he drew his Sai.
"For once Raph, I argee." Said Leo as he drew his katana blades and the brothers jumped down and engaged the enemy in a surprise attack.
"BOOYAKASHA!" Yelled Mikey as they jumped down.
Despite the vast numbers they possessed, the Kraang were unprepared for an assault from the Turtles.
Leo sliced every Kraang droid that approached him and was quick to avoid any blaster fire they shot at him.
Mikey used his nunchuks to bash anything that moved.
Raph impaled all the bots in his sight with his sai and tore the drones apart with them as well.
Donnie was able to bat any droid that he came close to with his bo staff.
The Kraang droids were always easy to take down.
After five minutes of fighting, the Turtles came out in victory.
"Okay, bad guys are toast, now what?" Asked Mikey.
As he asked that, Donnie approached a large box one of the droids was carrying to the portal.
As Donnie opened, he was shocked at what he saw.
"What is it Donnie?" Asked Leo.
The object looked exactly like the power cell Leatherhead had gave them that powered the TCRI portal, only it was glowing blue, not pink.
"I remember this." Said Donnie.
"I downloaded specs for the portal from the Kraang orb a while ago, it showed that a blue power cell was some sort of dimensional inducer." Said Donnie as he explained.
"Meaning?" Asked Raph as he was no scientist.
Donnie sighed as he translated.
"This is what lets the Kraang travel between Dimension X and our universe." Said Donnie in a dumb tone in his voice to mock Raph.
"So what we do?" Asked Leo.
"When in doubt, break it." Said Raph as he drew his Sai ready to impale the device, but Donnie pulled it away before the Sai made contact.
"You know what your problem is Raph, you never think with your head." Said Donnie, earning a glare from Raph.
"Aw c'mon D, what's the worst that could happen?" Asked Mikey in a slacker-like tone.
"It could create a black hole that could implode the ENTIRE UNIVERSE MIKEY!" Yelled Donnie.
Alarms soon activated all over the facility, alerting every Kraang in the compound.
"Time to go!" Yelled Leo.
His brothers couldn't agree with him more as they left the chamber carrying their new precious cargo.
Leo, Raph, and Mikey knocked away any Kraang droid that came their way as they tried to fight their way out of the enemy base.
Donnie couldn't fight because he held the dimensional inducer and did not want to risk damaging it.
The Turtles soon made their way outside, and arrived at their trademark vehicle: the Shellraiser.
Each of them entered their stations.
Leo was the driver, Raph was in charge of weapons, Mikey had navigation, and Donnie took the computer systems still holding the inducer.
Leo put the petal to the metal as he floored it.
However, the Kraang were quick to mobilize as dozens of vans came pouring out of the facility in close pursuit.
"Keep driving Leo, I got these losers!" Yelled Raph as he shot manhole covers from the gun on the back.
Raph was able to knock a few out of the road.
One van, however, had its roof poop open and large cannon-like device appeared.
It got a lock on the Shellraiser and fired.
A purple energy beam shot out and directly hit the Shellraiser.
The impact knocked the Turtles out of their seats, except Leo who was buckled to the driver's seat struggling hard to shake their pursuers.
The inducer was knocked out of Donnie's hands and landed on the floor, no damage came to it fortunately
"What the heck was that?!" Yelled Leo.
That would be the least of their worries though.
As the beam hit the Shellraiser, purple electricity began to surge everywhere inside.
One bolt hit the inducer, causing it to glow bright blue and hum.
The blue light from the inducer began to circle the whole vehicle before a blue aura formed on the outside.
As the hum grew louder, Donnie noticed and got a worried feeling.
"Uh, oh." Whimpered Donnie.
Soon the Shellraiser was engulfed in a bright flash of light and surged forward at incredible speed.
The vans all behind stopped.
The next thing the Kraang saw was tire tracks on fire.
From the outside, it appeared the Shellraiser was traveling through a large vortex.
Blue and pink beams of light shot right passed at high speeds.
The Turtles wouldn't notice, they were too busy screaming their lungs out.
The centripetal force had pushed Mikey, Raph, and Donnie to the back wall and Leo to his seat that he was still buckled too.
When Raph felt like he was going to get flatter than a pancake, he decided it was enough.
"LEO, HIT THE BRAKES, HIT THE BREAKS!" Yelled Raph in a panicked voice.
Leo complied and slammed his foot hard on the breaks.
The Shellraiser stopped, the Turtles were all flung to the front and slammed face first into the wall, minus the buckled driver.
The door opened, and the turtles all stepped out, however, with one stepped they all fell face-flat into the ground.
They soon got up, but were still a little wobbly.
"Where the heck are we?" Asked Raph.
"I have no idea." Replied Mikey.
They all took note of their surroundings, it was morning, the sun was up there were evergreens all around them.
Donnie took out his T-Phone, hopping to use his GPS, but he did not expect the result.
"There's no signal." Said Donnie.
"Maybe the phone was damaged." Said Donnie as he started getting to work.
Mikey noticed something else in the environment.
"Dudes, smoke!" Yelled Mikey as he pointed towards smoke coming from a small house on top of a mountain in the far distance.
The other brothers saw it.
"Well, maybe they know where we are." Said Mikey.
Before he could head over, Leo stopped him.
"Hold on Mikey, we can't just walk in, the last thing we want is to give someone a heart attack." Said Leo as he knew giant, talking turtles were not a common sight.
"Then what do you propose we do, 'Fearless Leader'" Asked Raph in annoyance as he crossed his arms.
Leo tried to think of something, and an idea came to mind.
"Hang on." Said Leo as he went into the Shellraiser and came back out with four trench coats.
The other three looked at him in confusion.
"You never when these things would come in handy and it's like Master Splinter said: 'A Ninja is always prepared'." Said Leo.
"I always thought that was the boy scouts." Said Mikey as he and the others started putting their's on.
"Hold on one sec." Said Donnie before getting back in the Shellraiser.
A few seconds later, the vehicle turned invisible, much to the three's shock.
Donnie stepped out.
"I swiped it from a Kraang ship, this way, it'll stay out of sight, and the inducer will be safe." Said Donnie with a smirk on his face.
"Good work Donnie." Said Leo.
And they started walking up the hill when they noticed an old man with a long white beard and a Chinese hat on top of his head head was also walking up the hill.
He briefly stopped and took a look at the place.
"Excuse me sir, do you need help?" Asked Leo as he and the came up to him.
The old man looked back.
"I may be old but i am not weak." Said the old man.
"By any chance, are any of you heading towards the forgery up this hill?" Asked the old man.
"Uh yeah, see we got lost and need to know where we are." Replied Donnie with a half-truth.
"Then i see no reason for you to accompany me to the the forge." Said the old man as he walked up ahead.
Raph leaned towards Leo's ear.
"Can we really trust him?" Asked Raph as he was skeptical, as always.
"Considering we don't know where we are, i don't think we have a choice." Said Leo as he walked on ahead while the other three followed suit.
Raph stayed behind for a bit before grumbling and ran ahead to catch up.
Meanwhile inside the house were two siblings working in a blacksmith's shop.
The male was working on a weapon while the sister watched.
"To forge the perfect weapon, you first need the right metal and plenty of heat." Said the male as he held up a weapon that looked in the form of a sword.
"Cool it off." Said the male as he put the weapon in water which began to cool it off.
"And and presto." Said the male as he held it up but it came out all…curly.
The male let out a groan as he turned back.
The female let out a giggle.
"You made it too quickly, Kai." Said the female.
"Be patient, if father was still here, he'd say-" Said the female before he was cut off by Kai.
"I know." Said Kai as he turned around.
"No matter how much fire you have, experience isn't something you learn overnight." Said Kai with a sigh as he turned back.
"That may work for you Nya, but i'm gonna be a better blacksmith then dad ever was." Said Kai as he began to work as the old man and the Ninja Turtles from before came near them.
The old man let out a hum as he came up to them.
"Your metal is loud and heavy, useful to slow someone down." Said the old man as he looked up at Kai.
"Useless in the art of stealth." Said the old man as he walked away.
"All tools for a samurai." Said the old man as he used his stick to hit a helmet from a statue.
"But nothing for a Ninja?" Asked the old man.
The turtles looked at him in shock.
Ninjas, they have Ninjas here?! Yelled everyone in their thoughts.
"Ninja, hah, you're a long way from finding any Ninja in these parts old man." Said Kai as he put a pan and the faulty weapon away.
Sheesh and people call me the rude one? Asked Raph in disbelief.
"And by the way, the Shop is called Four Weapons, not for browsing." Said Kai as he pointed towards the sign of the shop.
"So you and these four weirdos need to buy something or go somewhere else." Said Kai as he got to the old man's face.
"Weirdos?!" Yelled Raph with anger.
"I'll show you weirdo, kid!" Yelled Raph.
Before Raph got the chance to attack, the other three held him back.
"Easy Raph, let's not draw attention to ourselves here." Said Leo in a whisper like tone.
The old man let out a huff.
"Too bad, thought i find something special here." Said the old man as he walked away.
The turtles looked at him confusion.
Why would he be looking for a Ninja of all things and why find one in a forgery? Asked Leo in confusion.
Kai looked at Nya, who motioned with her hands.
"If it's something special your looking for." Said Kai as he walked off and picked up to present a helmet.
"Let me show-" Said Kai as he turned around, only to find the old gone, only the turtles.
"What is it?" Asked Nya in confusion.
"He was just-" Said Kai as he looked around but couldn't find him.
"Forget it." Said Kai as he put the helmet away.
"How'd he move so fast?" Asked Leo in a whisper as none of them saw the old man leave.
"He was like a master of stealth." Said Donnie in amazement.
Just then everyone heard a rumbling sound in the sky as a dark cloud loomed over them.
Just below them villagers have heard noises coming from a mountain and saw a bunch of truck like vehicles in the shape of skeletons.
One of the people or should i say skeletons was waving his hand around like a kid knowing an answer for question.
"Oh, oh, let me go first, please, oh please!" Pleaded the young skeleton who's voice was slightly high pitched.
"I'm dying to go down there!" Yelled the young skeleton.
"Oh you nitwit, your already dead." Said a different skeleton with a deeper voice.
"Try to control yourself in front of Master Samukai." Said the other skeleton, gesturing his head towards their leader who had four arms.
The other skeleton cleared his throat.
"With all due respect, last time…you did say…I could go first." Said the other skeleton.
"Sorry boys, but this one is mine." Said Samukai looking at both his underlings before at the village.
"Just don't forget your mission and find that map." Said Samukai.
"Attack!" Yelled Samukai, raising his weapon.
The vehicles began moving towards them, the villagers yelled and ran towards them.
"Boo." Said Samukai with a smirk on his face.
The made the villagers scream and stop in their tracks and turn back around and moved out of they way to avoid being run down.
"What are they?" Asked Nya in confusion and awe while Kai was putting on amour.
"I don't know, stay here." Said Kai as he walked outside.
The turtles ran outside and face the enemies.
They got a good look at them and were greatly surprised at what they saw.
"A-are those skeletons?!" Yelled Donnie in shock.
"You'd think after aliens and mutants we fought over the years, nothing could surprise us." Said Raph in agreement.
Suddenly Kai got in front of them and started attacking the Skeleton Army.
"Can't let him have all the fun." Said Raph as he smirked and ran ahead with a yell.
He tried stabbing the skeleton with his sais but they keep dodging and Raph could barley get a hit on them.
Leo tried slashing with his swords but the Skeletons keep moving their parts around to avoid any damage.
Donnie manged to get a hit on one of them but the skeleton put himself back together.
Mikey tried using his nunchucks on a skeleton on the head but it barley did any effect on him which made Mikey run as the skeleton chased after him.
Kai was fighting them with his sword and was able to take off a head from one of the skeletons and fought off another.
"Ow!" Yelled Kai as he felt something bit him in the leg.
He looked down to see the head of the skeleton he knocked off.
"Bite this!" Yelled Kai as he kicked the skeleton away.
"Nice kick." Said Raph.
"Thanks." Said Kai.
Two skeleton clapped for that kick while unknowing to them, Nya had snuck up from behind them and knocked them away with a staff of her own.
"I thought i told you stay back." Said Kai in annoyance as he pushed a skeleton away.
"And why would i do that?" Asked Nya as she kicked away one of the skeleton minions.
She's like April, independent and willing to help. Thought Donnie as he blocked two Skeleton swords.
"And let you have all the fun?" Asked Nya in sarcasm as they back into each other.
Unknown to them, two Skeleton Minions went inside the forger and were looking for something.
"Your not looking hard enough!" Yelled one minion, throwing a helmet at the second minion.
"Ow!" Yelled the second minion, rubbing his head while looking back at the first.
"Your not looking hard enough!" Yelled the second minion, throwing the helmet back.
The two minions started slapping each other in anger.
The first minion pushed the second minion to a wall which knocked down the sign.
They both looked at the back of the sign and were surprised at what they saw.
"A map!" Yelled both of them.
Kai notices the two minions leaving the forgery but before he could confront them, Samukai came out in front of him.
Kai takes out his weapon as did Samukai, from all four hands.
It was then that Kai realized how outmatched he was.
"Oops." Said Kai as he backed away.
Samukai led the attack and while Kai did held his own, Samukai eventually disarmed him and threw his weapon away and kicked him to the ground.
Kai could only froze as Samukai had pointed all four weapons at him.
The turtles tried to run towards them but were blocked by the Skeleton Army.
"Ninja Go!" Yelled out a voice.
Before Samukai could do anything a golden tornado came out of nowhere and hit him away from Kai while launching a series of attacks.
The golden tornado later stopped and revealed to be the old man who came by the forgery.
"Master Wu, your Spinjitsu has been rusty lately." Said Samukai as they glared at each other.
"Nothing like bone to sharpen its edge, Samukai." Said Wu as he held out his staff, ready for another round of fight.
Samukai heard groaning and notices a knocked down Kai and a water tank above him.
He let out a laugh as he threw his weapons at Wu, which he dodges, and destroys one of the support legs.
The tank began to move to where Kai was.
"Oh no." Said Kai as he tried to back away.
"Ninja Go!" Yelled Wu as he made another golden tornado and rescued Kai before the water tank could crush him.
Samukai let out a laugh as he got back inside his vehicle.
"Lord Garmadon says take the girl!" Yelled Samukai, loud enough for Wu to hear.
"Lord Garmadon?" Asked Wu with great worry in his voice.
One of the minions laughs as he launches the truck's bone hand to grab Nya and pull her towards the skeleton vehicle.
"Nya!" Yelled Kai.
Samukai laughed as the vehicle went off with the rest of the army following them.
Kai tried to run after them but they were already gone before he could reach the gates.
"They took Nya." Said Kai with sadness in his voice.
"I told you." Said Wu as he hits Kai in the head head with his staff.
"Useless." Said Wu.
The four turtles went over to them.
"Okay dude, how did you do that tornado thing you did there?!" Asked Mikey in excitement.
"Yeah, it was nothing like we've seen before." Said Donnie in amazement.
"I've seen stranger things, but nothing that strange." Said Raph.
"That was truley an amazing skill." Said Leo.
Kai let out a groan.
"Who cares what it was, you could have done something you could've used your…Twistitzu or your-" Said Kai before he was cut off by Wu.
"Spinjitzu!" Yelled Wu in annoyance and replied the turtle's question.
"What's Spinjitzu?" Asked Donnie.
"Spinjitzu is a close-combat martial arts technique in this world, it involves the user tapping into their inner balance while spinning rapidly, creating a tornado-like vortex of energy around themselves, it is the art of rotation, which adds force and momentum to blows." Replied Wu.
"Whoa." Said Mikey as he and the rest of the turtles were eyes winded in awe.
"Do you think you can teach us?" Asked Mikey.
"Only if any of you four have elemental powers." Replied Wu.
"Elemental Powers?" Asked Leo in confusion.
Before this conversation could continue, Kai cut them off.
"Who cares about all that crap, you did nothing!" Yelled Kai in anger, at Wu.
"I'm going to get my sister back!" Yelled Kai as he started walking away.
"Do you even know where they went?" Asked Donnie.
"I do, and where they go is something a mortal cannot." Said Wu.
"It seemed like you and skeleton guy had known each other." Said Leo as he overheard their conversations.
"Indeed, that was Samukai, king of the Underworld and if it's true that he's carrying orders for Lord Garmadon, then I fear things are much worse than I ever thought." Said Wu.
Kai turned back to look at Wu.
"Who's Lord Garmadon?" Asked Donnie.
"And what's this Underworld you mentioned?" Asked Leo.
"And what were they attacking this village for?" Asked Raph.
"And why would they take my sister?!" Asked Kai as he got right in front of Wu's face.
"What's so important?" Asked Wu in shock.
"How about everything in Ninjago itself?" Asked Wu.
"Ninjago?" Asked Mikey in confusion.
"The name of our world." Replied Wu.
Flashback
Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master, by using the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu: The Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice, and the Sword of Fire.
Weapons so powerful, no one can handle all of their power at once.
When he passed away, his two sons swore to protect them, but the oldest was consumed by darkness and wanted to possess them.
A battle between brothers broke out, and the oldest was struck down and banished to the Underworld.
Peace returned, and the younger brother hid the weapons, but knowing his older brother's relentless ambition for power, he placed a guardian to protect them.
And for fear of his own demise, a map for an honest man to hide.
Flashback Ends
"That honest man was your father." Said Wu, looking at Kai who was in shock over what he just heard.
"The older brother is Lord Garmadon and I need to find those weapons before he does." Said Wu.
"Your the younger brother, aren't you?" Asked Leo as he pieced together the story.
"Then did you come here looking for the map?" Asked Kai.
"No." Replied Wu as he shook his head.
"I came for something greater, you." Said Wu pointing his staff at Kai.
"Since my brother cannot enter this realm, it's obvious he has struck a deal with Samukai." Said Wu as he walked away.
"If he were to collect all four weapons, even I would not be able to stop him again." Said Wu as he went around in a circle on the rock Kai was sitting on.
"But you, you have the fire inside." Said Wu, once again pointing his staff at Kai again.
"I will train you to harness it, to use it and become a Spinjitzu Master." Said Wu.
"Look, I'm flattered you think I'm all that." Said Kai as jumped off the rock he was sitting on.
"But I gotta save my sister, i'm not getting involved in your sibling rivalry." Said Kai as he started to walk away.
Wu let out a scream and jumped into Kai's Back.
