A new story! And it was just for fun, so please don't take it seriously XD

"Once upon a time, Vale was a vibrant city filled with dog-walkers, shoppers, and business...peoples. But these days, the sun sets on a godforsaken town with no life to be found. Those still breathing live in constant fear, wondering when their number might be called - not actually called, mind you, because the cell towers stopped working ages ago. There are exceptions though; people fighting back, like the hero of this story - the wittiest girl to survive the apocalypse, Yang Xiao -"

"What the hell are you doing?"

"- Long."

Glancing in the rearview mirror, Yang grinned and continued.

"She's joined by an impatient, would-be heiress who inherited nothing but destruction and a penchant for sarcasm. No one knows how she survived the initial outbreak, but she made it this far using her ire and general disdain for anything unclean."

"Oh, for chrissakes -"

"She's monologuing. You know you can't stop her when she's monologuing."

A hand lightly landed on Yang's shoulder, and she smiled at the raven-haired girl in the passenger seat.

"Fortunately, our hero isn't stuck alone with the whiny heiress; otherwise, she would've offed herself long ago. The sexiest, smartest, most beautiful girl in Vale stands beside her, battling the hordes with a ferocity unseen during these dark times."

Hearing a giggle from the backseat, Yang looked in the rearview mirror again.

"And last, but not least - our hero's sister - the fastest whip in the west, as some random dude once called her. Uncatchable and untouchable, especially by a certain would-be heiress who gets too handsy for our hero's taste." Hearing another giggle coupled with a disgruntled huff, Yang chuckled and gripped the steering wheel. "Together, these four survivors roam the deserted streets of Vale, killing any Zs they find while searching for a cure, or a purpose, in this vast wasteland."

Ending her monologue there (for now), she nodded and let the sound of the engine fill the cabin. Monologuing was an art form. Too long and you'd overdo it. Too short and you don't get the point across. The perfect balance was somewhere in the middle - long enough to set the stage, short enough to keep the audience wanting more.

"Yang, look."

Blake pointed towards the side of the highway, where a large box truck sat abandoned and unloved. Tons of vehicles were left on the roads these days, what with it being the apocalypse and all, and most didn't earn a second glance. This particular truck, however, had 'Valley Medical' written across the side in peeling black letters.

"Think they have something?" Yang asked while easing her foot off the accelerator.

"You never know. Worth checking."

"Peanut gallery?" she asked, glancing in the backseat to see what Weiss and Ruby thought.

"Might as well…"

"Let's do it!"

With the decision made, Yang picked a slow, meandering route to their new destination. If the truck didn't say 'medical,' they'd drive past without a second glance, but medical supplies were amongst the most prized items they could scavenge these days - closely followed by a truck filled with cookies that would send Ruby to the moon and back. They might also find information about a cure, if one had been started before everything went to hell. Besides, it was fun to grab everything they could carry out of a truck that wasn't theirs. 'Stealing' technically didn't apply during the apocalypse, but the thrill was still there.

"'K ladies." After stopping close but not too close to the abandoned vehicle, Yang checked the mirrors to make sure they had a clear exit in front and behind them. They learned that lesson pretty quickly after parking beside a van that ended up being filled with undead. Thankfully, Xander was more than capable of plowing through a horde of zombies. Cleaning body parts out of his grill was a real pain though…

"Rock, paper, scissors?" she asked while turning and lifting her hand.

"Naw, we got it!"

The words hardly left Ruby's mouth before she opened the door and hopped outside. Weiss was much slower on the draw, probably silently cursing Ruby for always volunteering for the worst jobs, but grabbed her weapons and followed Ruby.

"Be right back…"

"Try not to break a nail!" Yang called out before grinning at Weiss' grumbles. Beside her, Blake laughed and shook her head while the two girls cautiously approached the truck.

"She might actually kill you one of these days."

"I kind of hope she tries, don't you?" Yang replied, but Blake pursed her lips.

"Hmm...no. Because then I'll have to save you - again."

"Awe come on, you don't save me that often!" The statement earned a perfectly arched brow, so Yang chuckled and rechecked the side mirrors. Seeing nothing but general highway wreckage, she returned her attention to Blake. "Alright, you save me pretty often, but one day I'll return the favor."

"Looking forward to it."

Blake clearly didn't believe that Yang would ever follow through on that claim, and why would she? So far in the apocalypse, Yang's gorgeous sidekick had done most of the saving, as sidekicks were supposed to do. But one day, a moment would arrive where Yang rose to the occasion in some amazing, incredible, unimaginable way. That was how heroes operated: bumbling - and amazing - idiots until it counted most.

In the meantime, Ruby reached the truck and peeked through the driver's window before opening the door and hoisting herself into the cabin. While Ruby searched the interior, Weiss stood outside scanning for danger. With the lovebirds scouting, Yang checked the mirrors every few seconds to fulfill her end of the bargain. Empty, empty, empty - not a soul in sight. Several silent seconds passed before Ruby tossed a bag to Weiss, who caught it (much to Yang's never-ending surprise) and slung it around her shoulders.

"Looks like she found something," Blake commented, her amber eyes intently observing the interaction.

"Hopefully something good."

"Such as…?"

"I dunno...a new movie?"

Blake chuckled and shook her head while Ruby clambered out of the driver's seat. She and Weiss then headed to the back of the truck to find the fabled 'medical supplies' contained within.

"Listen first," Blake whispered as soon as Ruby touched the door handle. Surprisingly, Ruby abruptly froze and pressed her ear to the metal. After several tense seconds, she flashed a thumbs up and yanked the door open.

A yelp shattered the still air as Ruby suddenly tumbled backward out of the truck, with a decaying, should-be dead corpse toppling out on top of her. Foul gray hands grabbed at her neck and rotten teeth gnashed at her face as the two of them hit the pavement, but Blake hardly reached for the door handle before a gunshot rang through the air. Weiss then calmly kicked the corpse aside and pulled Ruby back to her feet.

"That girl is ice cold," Yang said while Ruby jumped into the truck and grabbed everything she got her hands on. Seconds later, she and Weiss were running back to safety.

Glancing in the side mirrors one more time, Yang jumped when tattered, lumbering undead filled the view. "Where the hell did they come from?" she muttered, wasting no time putting the truck in drive. They were moving at a slow roll by the time Weiss and Ruby jumped onto the running boards and swung themselves inside.

"Got it!" Ruby shouted as Yang floored it, leaving the horde of unexpected (but probably should have been expected) zombies in the dust. With a clear path away from the medical supplies truck, they were flying down the freeway in no time. Well, flying as fast as they could while weaving between a maze of deserted cars.

"That was more exciting than expected…" Weiss grumbled from the backseat.

"Don't get too 'excited' back there," Yang said, briefly catching Weiss' gaze in the rearview mirror. "I can see you from up here, you know."

"You can't see my hands." Looking in the mirror again, Yang frowned when Weiss smirked, knowing that what she said was true. "Ruby, why don't you sit closer to me…"

"Ruby, stay put," Yang ordered before swerving to avoid plastering an undead motorist in their grill. "Weiss, keep your hands to yourself."

"You act like we haven't done it before…"

Wrinkling her nose, Yang decided to say nothing. Instead, she flipped on the headlights so she could see the road in the swiftly darkening night. The worst thing about being stuck with her sister and her sister's girlfriend during the apocalypse was that she was stuck with her sister and her sister's girlfriend during the apocalypse. If that wasn't worthy of some crowd-pleasing sympathy, she didn't know what was.

"Maybe we can sit in back sometime?"

Catching Blake's not-so-innocently batted eyes, Yang suddenly found herself tongue-tied.

"I - uh, you'd...want to do that? Sit in back, I mean?"

Even though Blake shrugged, she wore a pleased smirk while turning her attention back to the road. And Yang nearly jumped out of her seat when a loud thump hit the front of the truck, followed by several bumps as the tires rolled over something.

"Stop ogling Blake and watch the road," Weiss snapped from the backseat.

Several sarcastic comebacks popped into Yang's mind, but she held her tongue when Ruby giggled. Ruby's giggle was like a cure-all for Weiss' annoying sense of humor - because if Ruby was happy, Yang was also kind of happy. Still, she intentionally clipped another zombie before doing what Weiss so kindly 'advised.'

With daylight rapidly disappearing, it was time to bunker down for the night. As much fun as it was to battle zombies in the dark (about as much fun as wrestling sharks in water), they'd survived this long by only making one stupid decision per day. Hero by day, coward by night - that was her motto. And anyone who had a problem with it had no idea what it was like to be jump-scared by a zombie in real life.

Sensing a lull as the days' events caught up to them, she decided to fill it with her graceful, elegant words.

"After making it this far using charm, intelligence, and plenty of beauty, our hero doesn't know where life takes her from here," she monologued, grinning when she caught Blake's smile out of the corner of her eye. "But with her sister, her partner, and the whiny heiress by her side, she knows they'll conquer every challenge set in their path. Because these aren't any ordinary survivors. No, these four girls form an elite survival squad known as...The Super Zombie Slayers Four."

The truck faded into silence after her words, providing a nice dramatic effect to go along with the rumbling engine and bumpy terrain (and just a few more zombies).

"Wouldn't it be 'The Four Super Zombie Slayers?'" Weiss asked, ruining the moment just because.

"How is that different?"

"Because there are four of us."

"That's why I said four."

"But you put it at the end," Weiss argued, exasperation slipping into her tone. "That makes it sound like a movie."

"Can I be super zombie slayer one?" Ruby piped in before tapping Weiss' shoulder. "Will you be the two to my one?"

Weiss instantly abandoned her argument in favor of smiling, so Yang rolled her eyes. Ruby had developed an incredibly effective way of flirting (learned from her older sister, of course). The best part was that she didn't even realize she was flirting. She thought she was asking a nice question. From the pink on her cheeks, Weiss thought otherwise.

"What did you get anyway?" Blake asked, bringing their conversation back to more pressing matters.

"Tons of good stuff." Pulling the bag into her lap, Ruby opened it up and rustled inside. "Important-looking papers, an old cellphone...oh! And I got Yang something." When Ruby passed something to the front seat, Yang grabbed it and grinned.

"Oh hell yeah. New theme song, coming right up." After ejecting the current, overworn CD, she slipped the new one in and waited for the first track. Heavy metal music instantly blared over the speakers, and she laughed. "Alright, I dig this."

When Weiss heaved a big sigh, Yang's smile only grew.

"And thus," Yang added in a raised voice, continuing her monologue simply because it annoyed Weiss. "Our hero and her companions head back to base for the night. Another day gone, with no lives lost except the unfortunate zombies in their way - especially the one that scared Blake and got disintegrated."

"Oh yeah," Ruby laughed. "That guy bit the dust big time."

Listening to the truck rumble down the road, Yang grinned at Blake when she realized that now was the perfect moment. The four of them were driving into the sunset with heavy metal blasting in their ears, a bag of new stuff to sift through, and hopefully only a few random limbs stuck in Xander's undercarriage.

"Know what time it is?" Yang asked, her grin growing when Blake responded with an amused-yet-sexy smile.

"The title screen."

"That's right. Here comes the title screen - get ready to cut to black!"
