Legend of Okami.

Chapter 1: First meeting

A land full of fire. That's what Amaterasu saw.

She knew this was where she sensed the danger.

The land of fire were mountains, however instead of trees, all Amaterasu saw was fire.

She stood in the valley of these mountains, as she slowly watched ash fall from the trees that seemed to chip away from the bark of the still alive trees.

She stepped forward, her usual serious expression fading into sorrow. She gripped the dirt with her paws as she felt envy and guilt.

"What…..happened to these land….?" Amaterasu mumbled, seeming to herself.

She was ready and about to venture further for investigating, but soon something itched in her fur.

"I TOLD YOU NOT TO TAKE US HERE!" Someone had practically screamed in her ear. Soon the itch hopped out of her fur.

If Amaterasu didn't have very good eyes, she probably wouldn't have seen the speck named Issun.

"Issun.. what is this place?!" Amaterasu had to know. She hoped that Issun, the wandering artist who happened to only be an inch tall, would know more of these flaming fields.

Amaterasu felt Issun hop on her nose.

"We should leave! We can't fix this place!" Issun explained in a panic. Amaterasu looked at the fire in speculation.

"And why not…. All this life…" Amaterasu looked right and watched a tree lose it's last limb. "...gone…."

Issun's tone changed. One of fear.

"This is Akuma's domain…." Issun explained slowly in a whisper. This made Amaterasu step back in a ponder.

"Akuma…?" She looked at the fire in wonder. "...I heard of that name…. But...where-"

"AKUMA! He's the god of destruction! The one who is tasked with destroying everything! He rules the demons and even darkness!"

Issun's explanation didn't hinder her motivation however, as she started walking.

"Hey! Fur ball! Did you not hear me?! We should NOT mess with Akuma! He's a god!"

"And I'm a Goddess." Amaterasu boldly reminded. She now marched up the mountain, now ignoring the flames that threatened to lick her.

"Akuma knows that the time for destruction should be not during the time of peace!"

Issun now was hopping on her nose, in a clear state of panic.

"Oh yeah! But does Akuma know that?! Does he even care Ammy! I think not!" Issun whines. Amaterasu just shook her head.

"I'm serious about this little speck. If you wish not to partake, go back into hiding." Amaterasu had stopped as her tone had got serious. Issun stared into her black eyes and he signed. He slowly retreated back into her fur.

"I'm leaving once he decides to destroy you…." Issun complained. Amaterasu smirked, already used to his banter.

Eventually, after tracking across one large mountain, Amaterasu jumped upon a cliffside.

It was there she and Issun saw a huge inferno burning in the middle of the peak.

They stared at the inferno curiously.

"...Akuma's main temple…" Issun told. Amaterasu turned to him, but couldn't make him out in her white cloud like fur.

"His….. temple?" Amaterasu turned back to it.

Now she faintly sees a black figure within the flame, everlasting.

"It must be in flames to keep bystanders who managed to go through the mountains away…. Maybe we should-"

However the white wolf wasn't listening. She lifted her tail….as it dripped with her ink.

Amaterasu slashed a ink line right across the fire hard, and the ink smashed into the flames.

The fire hissed and it slowly died, as the black ink seemed to drag it into the ground, killing it.

Now the statue had appeared, and they both realized it. It was of a black silhouette of a man, with his arms crossed. It had no legs, but instead an opening, which she guess led to Akuma's chamber.

Amaterasu shook her fur, killing her fear and descended into darkness.

She first saw torches on the wall, but she saw no wall. All she saw was the staircase, which seemed to extend down deeper and deeper into the mountain. Luckily she could still see the opening above her, or else she would have thought it was an endless loop.

"I don't like this….." Issun complained again.

"You had a deal with me…. Do you remember?" She heard him chuckle. They paused for a moment. "Do you feel anything?"

She could feel the air. The wind. That was all she could tell.

"Scared..." Issun joked as Amaterasu made it to the bottom of the stairs. She looked around, but saw no one.

"Don't worry, this place is so big I'm sure you could get away." Amaterasu suggested in a joking manner as she walked through a chamber with pillars that led to an entrance that felt eerie. Issun laughed.

"Oh? And who will have your back?" Issun joked. He then started laughing.

She was in a room made of stone, with no other doors or openings.

"Look!" Amaterasu did. In front of them was a huge fire, but in front of them was a wall that seemed to be made out of a Twilight color.

Then Amaterasu saw him. Akuma was a man who stood boldly in front of the Twilight wall. She could tell it was Akuma for his hair was nothing but fire.

"You're late!" He called to her.

"So are you." She replied. He snickered.

Akuma bursted flames in his palm and he stared at it with glee.

"You don't think I wouldn't think of you as concerning?" Akuma crushed his own fire as he grew silent. "... I'm patient." He whispered.

"Patient…powerful… I am the wrath that will consume all…and restore the pixies to glory."

His eyes grew wide as he realized something.

"You must die…"

Amaterasu laughed.

"We are both Immortal." She growled now. "We can't die."

"Ah…but you can be made to suffer….and it is something I can do quite well! So well, that you will beg for death…and come begging at my feet." Amaterasu didn't reply after his threat. Amaterasu saw Akuma wasn't seeking a battle. Soon she studied the wall behind him.

"What is that wall?" Amaterasu asked.

"Twilight." He replied. "It is the only thing that stands in my way to train my army and rule this world!"

"What….what kind of being are you?"

He soon touched the Twilight wall.

"A god of darkness." Soon something suddenly started to appear. It was a dark vortex and two very large dark monsters appeared from them. They had long hair and circular shields around their faces like masks. They moved fast and distorted.

"Demoniac!" He hollered. "Cleanse this world of the infernal beings and rule over the fallen!"

Amaterasu got ready as the first Twilight being raised his claw at her. The white wolf jumped away as it swung, and there was a crash from the being's impact. It was then she saw another being coming. It was all too fast as a blow came to her upper chest and she fell to the floor.

"Get up Amaterasu!" Issun yelled. She did with a grunt, and saw the two beings marching towards them. Akuma took no interest as he studied the Twilight wall some more.

"You fools! Why are you still here? This world is not yours!"

Amaterasu didn't reply as she tried to search for her way out, but another blow came to her back and she fell once more.

Right when she looked up, a Twilight demon threatened to crush her. Luckily, she used a power slash, which Amaterasu swung her white tail and slashed the demon with a mighty slash of ink.

She jumped away as the demon was sent crashing into the stone wall of the chamber.

She was about to take a swing when two fireballs engulfed her.

Akuma laughed as he saw his fireballs engulf her. He expected her to get out soon, but it did buy him enough time. Soon he turned back to the wall.

"...Oh I see... It's a portal!" Soon Akuma touched the wall and the wall lit up as an opening appeared.

"Get out of there!" Issun yelled.

Amaterasu had other plans. She kicked one of the fireballs at the demoniacal monsters.

Amaterasu jumped and slashed the demons that were about to crush her.

It was enough to pull through pass them.

She ran into the portal as it closed behind her. She could hear the demoniacal being screaming in pain from being hit by a fireball.

She soon saw she was alone with Issun in the middle of a forest.

All they heard was nature.

"Where ...?"

Out in the springs before Kakaorito village. Link, a young man in a green tunic with a steel sword, sat by his horse near the water. His travels had been short, but he didn't mind as he was taking his time. As of right now, Link wanted to make sure Hyrule was safe everywhere. After he heard about the attack on Kakariko village, he made a promise to himself that he'd travel everywhere and make sure nothing happened.

Link stood and turned to his horse Epona. "Let's just stay here today... I want to train a little. Link told Epona.

He unsheathed his sword, which was a small, light blue-tipped short sword. He twirled it around a bit, before looking at the ground to his left.

He began to practice, slashing the wind as he pretended to do battle. His sword clashed with the blunt side of his sword, a sound that was heard throughout the quiet spring. Link knew anyone would hear it, but he didn't really care.

It was when he swung his last sword, and it cut a flake of Twilight that Link felt a sting of sudden fear.

The young man looked around and listened. He heard the patter of small feet and a chittering of small wings.

When he looked up he saw the Sky and the Earth was being covered in Twilight. Link hasn't seen Twilight since the defeat of Ganondorf.

"..T-Twilight?!"

Demons covered the sky, flying all around. They were purple-skinned, with spines along their back, and long tongues hanging from their mouths.

Link was ready to get on Epona.

"Epona lets-" However Link felt his heart thump hard and he hit the ground. "What?! No..."

Link soon felt his body transforming.

His hair grew longer and turned from green to black. His ears grew pointed and were the same color. He grew a white tipped, forked tongue from his mouth as his teeth became sharp.

Soon Link turned into a large black wolf with white markings.

"Ah!" He let out a yell as he felt incredible pain. "W-what's happening?! Why now?!"

His form soon became that of a tall black wolf.

He felt old memories hit him. He was Wolf Link again. He remembered his first time entering Twilight, becoming this wolf form. Luckily he retained some of his skill, but it was because he had Midna, the Twilight Princess. He missed her, but she destroyed the mirror to Twilight. He could never return to Wolf Link again.

Now Link felt anger. He felt Minda destroying the mirror to her world was for nothing now, as the darkness of Twilight filled the sky and land. This only happens when the Light of the world is taken.

Link didn't have anymore time to think. The flying demons soon were raining upon Link. Link, now as a wolf, bolted away from the incoming danger. However it didn't delay them for long.

He felt pain from a claw to his back.

"AARGH!"

Demons were swarming all around. They started to surround him.

"I'm surrounded! How do I beat these demons!?!"

Link swatted back and forth, but it was no use. He couldn't even bite them. They kept pelting him from all different directions. He felt he was done for.

However, something soon slashed hard in the air and made a huge impact in the swarm.

For a moment the swarm parted, and as Link felt his pain ease in relief, he caught sight of a white wolf.

This wolf was unlike any he had seen. She was like her fur was made out of clouds, but she had full form. She also had a shield and red markings on her face. Link also saw ink leaking from her long white tail.

"W..what in the world?" Link said, as he felt fear fill him. The wolf charged into the demons, slashing and cutting as she went.

"Behind you Ammy!" Issun called. Amaterasu was determined to save this black wolf, so she turned hard on his friend's command.

The demons took this chance to attack, and Amaterasu, not wanting her actions to be in vain, ducked under a claw, and used her tail to push one away.

Link gaped in awe as he watched this white wolf smash this demon with her ink tail, and it was sent flying. Link bit his lip, and he felt he wanted to not look weak in front of this beautiful wolf.

The demons were fought off, but there were too many.

"Issun, help..." Amaterasu looked at the two demons, and she knew help was unlikely to come.

It was then that Amaterasu heard a howl.

She looked up.

Now it was Amaterasu gaping as Wolf Link was in the air, bearing his fangs. Link crashed into the pile of the swarm, and took many of them down.

He howled at them, and they all scattered. Link didn't stop till he was outside the village. He then looked at Amaterasu.

"Ammy...?" Issun asked. "You okay?"

Link couldn't see Issun for he was an inch tall, so he walked up to Amaterasu curious.

"Who...are...you talking too?" Link had to ask.

"I-it's...I-it's okay. Don't worry." She managed to get out.

"Who are you?" Link asked again.

"L-look."

Suddenly it was like a flea jumped into Link's fur.

"My name is Issun! I am a great wanderer artist!" Issun introduced boldly. However as he proudly stated this, he was poking Link with his stick, making him itch hard.

"OW! HEY! WHY ARE YOU SO SMALL?!" Link managed to get his paw in his fur and itch Issun away from him with a quick flick of the paw.

"I'm sorry, but I like to be prepared."

"For what?"

"Oh you know..."

"No, I don't!"

"We might be in trouble."

"Why?"

Now Amaterasu stepped closer, and Link grew nervous.

He didn't know why, but he was greatly taken back by this female white wolf. She seemed so calm, yet captivating.

"Look... My name is Amaterasu... I come here from a place far away I believe.." Amaterasu explained and she looked away, as if examining the spring that was still nearby. "...These are different lands then ones I know..." Amaterasu turned back to Link.

"A evil god named Akuma wishes to destroy these worlds!" Amaterasu declared with urgency. "He is up to something, and we need to stop him! But we are..." Amaterasu looked at her feet.

Link nodded. "I think I can lend a hand. If your not familiar with these lands..." Link took a pause to think of his options and who was in front of him. He didn't know these two. What he did know that this Amaterasu wasn't a normal wolf... Of course he wasn't a normal wolf either. He also knew he had to find out who Akuma was, and why he was stealing the light of Hyrule.

"I'll help you with the demons if your trying to find out who is doing this, and why."

"You will?" Link nodded and began to walk.

"Yeah why not? You saved me after all." Link thanked.

"Wait, you didn't tell me your name, or who you were!"

"Oh, I'm Link."

"Oh, you have a name?" Issun mumbled, and Link tried to follow his voice. He did hear giggling though. "I was just gonna go with furball, or dirty mutt!" Link got mad enough to try to look for his small speck.

"If I could see you, I would probably step on you!" Link half way joked. Amaterasu gave a small laugh.

"Don't worry, you're tiny, but you can walk on my back!" Amaterasu said as she galloped ahead.

This made Link feel panicked. He dropped his ego and followed Amaterasu quickly.

"W-Wait for me!" Link called after her.

Soon, there was a small opening they stopped at as night quickly had began to fall, as soon as their journey had began.

They had stopped at the entrance to a cave.

"Come on in, it's safer in here." Link urged as he pointed his paw at the cave.

"What's in there?"

Soon they sat in the cave, with Link feeling hurt and sore. He soon looked down and saw his arm bleeding. He grunted and tried to ignore it. However, Amaterasu saw this.

"You're hurt!" Amaterasu stated as she got up close to him. Link nearly jumped when she actually licked his face.

"I guess... So? you can't speak! What about your kind, can you?"

"I can be hurt..." Amaterasu mumbled as she lifted her tail. Link saw the ink on her tail again. It was the same one that helped defend Link from the Twilight demons.

However now she soon pressed her ink around his wound gently in a square. Soon it grew with light, and a bandage appeared.

Link was amazed.

"How did you...?" Link mumbled.

"An artist can't be hurt." Amaterasu blushed as she saw him pat her head. "Thank you for helping me…"

Link himself found himself blushing as well. He felt so much care from her. He felt one thing as she seemed to shift into a sleeping position.

She was a pure soul, one that could shine much brighter than Link in any instance, even if he was a human in a wolf body. Link felt he had no care; he was a wolf now. He laid down to sleep as well.

He grew a smile as he went to bed.

Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
