*GRWWA* "God damn what hit us" I groan as I get up.
I see other crewmen getting up.
"Cortana status report," I ask as the familiar blue A.I. appeared
"Sir good to see you are up we have multiple reports of injures across the ship and cargo that has been either damaged or in need of repair, weapons are on line and green the MAC is fully charged, life support is green and the engineering reports that the engines are green but the slipspace drive is damaged…..hold on captain I am getting 2 more contacts off our port" Cortana warns.
My crew immediately springs into action and I quickly get to my seat.
"Covenant?" I ask
"I don't think so sir for , One they are not firing on us and Two the power signature is wrong" she
"Well, what are they?" I ask
"Well it almost looks like-" Cortana is interrupted by my coms officer.
"SIR I am receiving 2 UNSC transponders," Lieutenant Dominique says.
"What do they say" I ask hoping to god it was reinforcements in case the Covenant showed up.
"Sir you are not going to believe this but…but it's the Spirit Of Fire and the Everest" he says excitedly.
I was stunned….The Spirit of Fire and the Everest?, But both were lost with all hands?
"Coms see if you can't get signal to the Spirit and the Everest" I order.
"Aye sir".
"Cortana can you scan both ships?" I ask.
"Already on it and from what I am getting both are reading life-signs aboard looks like both are banged up but should be functional" Cortana reports.
"Cortana how are our guests" I ask
She smirks "Both are fine though we need to keep Linda in cryo she is still too wounded to be revived captain but John is fine" she responses.
"Understood, Coms status on that signal?" I ask
"Coming online in 5..4...3.…2...1 ok captain you are connected" he responds.
"This is Captain Jacob Keyes to Spirit Of Fire and Everest does anyone copy" I ask as the comlink comes to life.
*STATIC*
"I say again this is Captain Jacob Keyes to Spirit Of Fire and Everest is anyone there" I say again hoping to god that at least Cole is alive.
"Th…..Cap…Cut…..f…*SATIC*"
"Cortana can you clear that up" I ask
"Trying now Captain annnnnnd got!" she says
"This is Captain Cutter to Pillar Of Autumn do you read"
"Yes we read you Captain what is your status" I ask relieved that the Captain is alive.
"Our Coms array is damaged and has taken hull damage and we have no slipspace drive" the Captain responses
"Roger have you received any contact from the Everest" I ask
"Negative from what we can see she is powered down her crew maybe in cryo" the Captain responses
'Hmm they may be in cryo because of the damage from the battle' I think.
"Cortana prep 2 pelicans with marines and support personnel to check on the Everest and power the ship on" I order.
"Aye Aye sir" Cortana responses
I hope to god that Cole is alright.

Well there are some good news and bad news.
The good news is the Spirit and Everest are alright and are at operational capacity and Cole is alive.
The bad news is the fact that the Everest is severely depleted of ammunition and its slipspace drive is damaged and so is ours we are not going anywhere outside the system anytime soon.
Cole as called all senior personnel to his ship to coordinate and plan our next move.
But before we can start planning we get some…..startling news
"What do you mean we are in the Sol system?!" I shout
"Just as I said we are in the Sol system and I have tried getting HIGHCOM and Erath but no responses and also we have detected something….weird" Cortana says
"Weird how?" the Admiral asks
"Well…I am getting signals from earth…..from about 500 years ago" she explains.
Everyone sits in silence until some start shouting this goes on for 5 minutes until the Admiral quiets them down.
"Cortana please explain how you came to that conclusion" the Admiral asks.
"Well from the signals being broadcast from earth it looks like its in 2015 and we came to this conclusion over the fact that the news is talking about the European refugee crisis and more reports of terrorist attacks in Paris but that is not the worst thing sirs" she explains.
I frown in confusion.
"What do you mean by that" I ask
"Sirs…..earth is under siege" she says in a….all most panicked tone.
Everyone is stunned the homeworld under siege…..it's our worst nightmare come true.
"Covenant" the Admiral asks in a claim but nervous tone.
"No sir but someone new they are behind Luna and are periodically sending out ships into the atmosphere some come back some don't however from what I have been able to gather the enemy is kidnapping people from the surface and have been killing hole towns and from the forces their it looks like they are gearing up for something big" she explains as we are shown these…..saucer-like ships and footage of battle with local militaries battling these aliens.
"…Sir what our are orders" I ask
The Admiral sits in silence for a few minutes and then he speaks up.
"Cortana what are the size of those ships" he asks
"Sir the smallest one is 5-6 meters while the biggest one is 350-450" she says.
He gets quiet again.
"All right before we go ahead with this I want to ask everyone here one thing…are you willing to put the life of you and your men on the line for another war because we might not come back and I don't want to drag more solders to hell with me" he asks.
"Sir I have fought in this war for 28 years…I have seen good men and women fight and die at the hands of the Covenant…..But one thing I swore to those men and women was that Earth would never ever fall and I and my crew would go through hell a thousand times over before it fell so no Admiral no one is running from this" I say.
He smirks and asks "Did you all share this?"
And one by one everyone nods.
"Well then….lets get ready Cutter can you resupply the Everest?" he asks and Cutter nods in confirmation.
"All right then we rearm then we make full speed for Earth when we near Luna use Earths gravity to mask our approach and then Cortana coordinate with Serina for an in-system jump" he orders.
"Sir a in-system jump is impossible" Cortana says
He just raises an eyebrow and points at himself and his ship.
"…..good point"

I down a shot of whiskey.
…*sigh* I miss Lyre I wish that things did not happen the way they did I wonder where she is now?
"Admiral you are needed on the bridge it's urgent" the intercom booms.
"I am on the way now" I respond
I get up and exit my cabin and rush towards the bridge with crewmen walking past me carrying supplies and doing maintenance.
The Spirit Of Fire has managed to resupply half of our munitions so we can take the fight to the enemy and we should be near-Earth by now.
As I walk up onto the bridge I order a status report.
"Sir we are nearing earth but…you should take a look at this" my XO says
On-screen appears a city on earth…..with a ship on top of it I can see fires coming from it.
"Sir we are seeing multiple reports of casualties it seems the aliens are killing indiscriminately….sir it looks more like a terror attack than anything else" my XO explains.
"Hmmmmmm…..get me the Spirit on the line and tell them to make full speed for that city and get me in contact with the local governments time to introduce ourselves" I order
"Aye sir"
"SIR we got multiple Bogies inbound" shouted my nav officer.
"ALL HAND COMBAT STATIONS" I shout as the familiar red lights come on
"What do we got?" I ask
"Sir we got at least 5 light frigate analogs 15 corvette analogs and at least 25 fighters," my nav officer says
"How much ammo do we have"
"Sir we are a 3rd fully on point defense guns for missiles we only got about 5 voles before we run out, no nukes, and we have half of MAC ammo" my fire control officer
"Lunch fighters and what is the status of the MAC" I ask
"Fully charged sir" Fire control responds.
"All right then coordinate with the Autumn and fire the MAC at one of the light frigates and keep the missiles hot" I order
*BOOM* The MAC gun fires at the light frigate shattering it into a million pieces the other ships slow down seemingly shock at what just happened and giving Autumn enough time to fire her MAC gun tearing 3 more frigates a part and damaging multiple other ships with the debris thank god for that retrofit.
It seems after seeing 4 of their ship get turned to mush and splinters that it was a bad idea to charge head-on and are now do random maneuvers to lose targeting lock.
"Fire control status on time to charge?" I ask
"Sir main MAC gun will take 30 minutes and secondary MAC is at 75%"
"Fire the 2 MAC and lunch a volley of missiles" I order
"Aye Sir"
*BOOM* The second MAC gun fires at the last remaining frigate, the frigate in its random maneuvers manages to avoid most of the shot however it manages to slightly hit it heavily damaging it and taking it out of the fight meanwhile the volley of missiles streak towards the rest of the alien battle group some doge them others are completely destroyed out of the 50 ships that engaged the two human ships only 6 corvettes and 11 fighters are left but now they are in range and the corvettes target the heavy cruiser.
'God damnit how many God damned Xenos have fucking energy weapons?!' I think as we are hit.
"DAMAGE REPORT" I order out.
"Shots hit the armor minor damage however some were aiming for the MAC gun and some missile pod and one-point defense gun is offline" my damage control officer says.
Damn I knew this would happen…ok let's do this.
"Fire left control thrust burners and lunch missiles" I order
We move to the left and the missiles fire taking out 7 more alien ships and that is the straw that broke the camel's back all remaining alien ships retreat.
That…..was probably one of the best….easiest victories I have had…..we are going to have to vary careful from now on.
"Status?"
"Sir the Autumn as sustained damage and her MAC gun is offline while we have sustained light damage and some point defense guns are offline" XO my reports.
"And the Spirit?" I ask
"On her way to the surface now"
*MEANWHILE*

NO ONE P.O.V.
The city was burning with civilians running or dying on the street and the local military was fighting their damnedest to evac civilians and kick these assholes out of their city but that was easier said than done with their advanced plasma weaponry they were tearing up troopers left and right and armor had yet to arrive but it was looking like more and more that the armor would be useless and the XCOM squad already there was putting up a good fight but with the constant hordes of Chryssalid's where keeping them occupied and so the city burned under the shadow of an alien battleship.
*PLAY BROTHERS IN ARMS*
And then *BOOM BOOM BOOM* several explosions ripple across its hull tearing hull plaiting off causing it to move away from the city and engage the threat.
*BANG*
And then without warning a single shot ripped across its hull tearing off even more armor plating and causing it to become a million pieces.
Meanwhile everyone in the city was shocked who had done that the US? XCOM? More Aliens?
And then they saw it a huge ship coming in through the atmosphere with….English letters on the side of the ship reading.
UNSC SPIRIT OF FIRE
And then it starts deploying dropships and another ship from the bottom of its hull.
As dropships deploy across the city the Mayor gets reports of success full victories with the newcomers clearing out alien holdouts and drop points.
"COME ON MARINES DON'T YOU WANT TO LIVE FOREVER!" a sergeant screamed out as his squad reinforced the beleaguered defender's clearinghouse and office building one at a time.
"WE NEED SUPPORT! WE NEED IT NOW!" a National Guardsman screams into his radio as more aliens move up with the bugs giving them the hardest time as those things eat up bullets.
"GET DOW-" the private never finished that sentence as a plasma bolt ripped his head off.
The National Guardsmen makes a prayer to God he was going to heaven today.
"COME ON YOU BASTERDS" he screams as he fires at the incoming aliens killing a few but takes a plasma bolt to the leg blowing it off.
He slowly gets into a sitting position on the wall next to him and pulls out his pistol and keeps firing.
But before the aliens can get a shot off a loud thud hit in the middle of the street a black metal-looking coffin landing there.
As the aliens investigate the thing it pops open and outcome a green armored man with a number on his chest plate.

As he looks around he springs out and caves in the skull of a Sectoid and takes out his rifle and kills 3 more.
A Thinman glares at the new threat and fires at it.
The Spartan dodges all of the shot and shoots back nailing it in the head.
The Guardsmen looks and see's what is happening and says.
"Cool get those fuckerrss…" he takes his last breath.
I got this idea after listening to halo music and going back in X-COM hope you enjoy.
And if some characters seem OOC sorry I am trying to do my best but I am trying to grasp these characters so if it seems like I am committing heresy to Halo sorry
