I do not own Naruto or Pokemon.

The Kanto Region - Pallet Town

All was peaceful in the town of Pallet as the sun slowly rose. The farmers were letting their herds of Miltank out as the Tauros bulls idly graze the grass. Mareep that were wandering the wrong way were corralled by Growlithe. At the docks fishermen and their pokemon prepared to sail for their respective watering spots to fish as the Wingull and their evolved forms Pelipper called out as the flew by in the sky.

All in all it was a peaceful day.

"OH NO! I'M LATE!"

Until a hopeful pokemon trainer yelling came from the Ketchum household. You all know the story of how Ash Ketchum became a trainer but thus isn't that story. This is a story about a different trainer and her partner pokemon as they travel the regions to become a master battler and coordinator.

And it all begins with an reincarnation...

Naruto felt warm and safer than another time in his life. The last thing he remembered was being in the hospital after the mission to find Sasuke and the nurse giving him a shot of something that made him drop off fast. It was strange, he had brought his friends via shadow clones home safely, even if Sasuke was in a barrel, that he had been it on the head by one of the sound ninja. Tsunade had order him to get medical attention but all he felt was warmth until the shot. He didn't understand why she was crying as he drifted off.

However his dreams were strange. There was a strange white deer thing with a ring of gold who stared at him. Then a small pink cat being that giggled and cuddled him for a moment before played with him with pink bubbles. There were other strange animals like a green dragon that raced in the sky as a red Godzilla and giant blue orca stared at one a other, strange birds that crackled with elements that played with large cat dogs.

They all were interested in him but his headache kept preventing them from getting close unlike the pink cat and a hominid being that was singing. Naruto however knew that they won't stay forever in his dreams and they could meet one day, but for now he stayed here.

Naruto yawned, or at less he thought he did after chasing the pink floating cat around a great tree. It kept saying the same thing, Mew, to him. Then again all he could say was his name, Naruto, over and over.

"Mew mew?"

"Naru nar. Naruto!"

See? Even so he could understand what Mew was saying as well Mew could him. He choose to think it was because he was in a dream after all. Resting on a branch he look at the tree with awe. It was massive, reminiscent of the trees in the forest of death where the second part of the exams took place. It also strongly had maple leaves made of fire that didn't burn the wood but smelt wonderful. Grasping one he felt almost gleeful as the flames covered his arm but didn't burn, instead giving him a tickling sensation.

Leaping into a hole in the tree he placed the fire leaf down on a bed of them and laid down to relax. A part of him wondered if he should wake up soon but he didn't feel like he wanted to.

Sasuke could wait. Konoha could wait. He wanted to stay in this warm place a little longer. It was safe and no one glared at him like he was a monster. Every once in a while he could hear something like ehispering from a girls voice asking him to wake up but he didn't know how.

Then one day he found himself alone in a dark cramped space.

"Oh Ash you forgot your bag." Delia Ketchum said as she picked up her son's backpack in his race out the door. She knew that her son was late but to run out in his Pj's and not have one last meal with his family wasn't polite. "Where did I go wrong with him?"

"Morning mom, today's the day." Delia smiled as her other child came down with a yawn.

"Yes it is Diorite. Your late you know to Oak's lab for your first pokemon."

"I know... But I wanted to spend the day getting ready with you and have one last meal before I go." Diorite said as she walked to the kitchen holding a container. Inside was an abandoned pokemon egg she had found a few weeks past after a storm. The poor thing was cold and had a crack on it that made her very attentive to the egg.

Both Ketchum women and those they asked didn't know what kind of pokemon would lay such an egg. It was orange in color with streaks of green across the surface. Professor Oak and the nurse Joy who came to help check the egg's health both had no clue, other than stating that while the crack was worrisome the pokemon inside was fairing well.

'I hope you'll hatch soon little pokemon.' Diorite thought as she nibbled at her toast her mom made for the both of them. Even if she was late, Diorite Ketchum wasn't going to start her day late and in a mess. Of all days she wanted to be presentable and not in a rush unlike her brother.

"I'm going to head out honey to get your brother's bag to him and wish him luck, remember to lock up." Delia called from the front door as her daughter ate.

"Bye mom!"

"Ok... and that's everything." Diorite muttered as she shifted her bag onto her shoulder. Looking in the mirror she twirled around to make sure everything was perfect. Humming in though she tooker her dark brown hair and took it out of the ponytail to be set free. With a skip on her step she headed out with the egg and locked the door behind her.

Walking the path to Oaks lab gave her time to reflect on her time learning about pokemon, the various regions she would have to go to and the timing of the contests she'll have to compete in. There was a lot to remember but she was sure that she would be mostly prepared for anything bar the unexpected. As she walked however a car horn blared and came to a stop next to her.

"Hey Diorite." Gary said as he leaned from his car as his cheer squad glared at her.

That ruined her chances of the rest of the day going well. Groaning she look at her neighbor and fellow trainer. "Gary."

"So cold but your heated glare warms my heart." Gary said, holding a hand over his heart.

Diorite rolled her eyes. "Must be the heartburn."

The female chauffeur of the car had to hide a smirk as Gary flushed at the rejection. As for the six cheerleaders they all began to pamper the boy to make him feel better and to compete to see whom he would reward later on. With flare of her skirt Diorite continued on her way down the path.

"There she goes again. The only person in Pallet town who has a chance of beating me in the league." Gary lean back in his seat. "Let's go gals. We got to make sure I'm ready for the Boulder badge before someone else does.

"Gary, Gary, he's our star! No one knows how far you are! Go Gary!"

"Dumb cheerleaders." Diorite grunted as she listened to the chant as the car zoomed off. While they weren't competing in the league for the Kanto Region, they were pokemon trainers who were attempting for the coordinator competition. She wasn't sure how they got their pokemon but she was sure it had to do with Gary's uncle the mayor.

Coming over the rise she smiled as she saw her mother waiting at the gates to Oak's lab along with professor Oak. "Mom! Professor! I'm here!"

"Ah miss Diorite how wonderful to see you." Oak said cheerfully as he waved with one hand while another rested in a pocket of his lab coat.

"Well professor. I'm ready for my pokemon." At her words Oaks face fell. "What's wrong professor?"

Delia sighed and tested a hand on her daughter's shoulder. "I'm afraid honey Ash has the last pokemon."

Diorite felt as if the world was crumbling around her. "...what... it can't be... professor?"

"I'm sorry my dear but I'm afraid that my starter pokemon are all gone. Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle... even the Pikachu your brother ended with. I do have a Pokedex and several pokeballs for you to use if you wish." Oak said humble as he held out the items.

Diorite slowly reached out to collect the items. Looking them over she noted that it was a total of five pokeballs. "Thank you sir."

"Your welcome. Your pokemon egg already has a ball for your pokemon to use once it hatches. May I take a look?"

Nodding Diorite hand him the egg to inspect.

"Hmmm... Well dear it seems that this one is going to hatch this week if that movement if anything indication."

"What!?" Diorite excitedly crunch down at the set down egg case to loom at it. As Oak said it was rocking a bit but not much.

"Looks like your going to have your frist pokemon sooner that you thought honey." Delia said with a smile. "Oh, one more thing. Here's for being the best pokemon trainer a mother could ask for."

Diorite grinned as he mother took took white hat and placed it on her head. "Thanks mom."

"Your welcome honey. Now go out there and become the trainer I know you are." Diorite said nothing, only gave her mother a hug which was returned. After a moment they separated, and without another word she departed.

'I want out.'

Years ago I made a short story idea prompt to be used in a crossover. An idea that sadly no one took up that has been like a splinter in my mind that has become too annoying to ignore any longer.

I hope this introductory chapter has pipe everyone's interest. Please leave a like and a review. Until next time.
